Fighting My Bully

Rate this book
Second chances can hit where it hurts—especially between a bully and his victim.

Fred
When people say, “Live your best life,” the ideal at thirty-three doesn’t account for bisexual awakening, divorce, unemployment, and being beaten to a pulp by muggers all in the span of a few weeks. Five months later, my therapy of choice—or rather, my sister, Franny’s, choice—was to work through my physical and emotional trauma at Knockout Gym with a personal trainer who specializes in my exact kind of baggage.

Only he’s part of my baggage too. Corbett Jahns, the prick who bullied me in high school and caused what were probably my first signs of bi awakening long before I was ready to deal with it.

The universe hates me.

Corbett
Freddy Bard walking back into my life, when I finally had everything together, felt like a prank by the universe. My first male crush, but instead of being brave enough to admit that back in high school, I was the stereotypical repressed bully. No excuses but believe me when I say I’ve paid for those mistakes.

In college, an injured rotator cuff ruined my dreams of playing pro ball. I turned to drugs. Drinking. Hookups. Knockout Gym saved my life. I’ve been the bookkeeper and a trainer there for years now and helped a lot of people, but helping Fred after all I did to him would mean more than any of it.

Even if he hates me.

Fighting My Bully is an MM standalone novel in the multi-author series Fighting for Love. All stories take place at the shared gym, Knockout MMA Training Facility. At Knockout Gym, happily ever afters are hard-won. This hurt/comfort romance about overcoming past traumas might heal both former bully and his bi-awakened victim, as they turn the enemies to friends to lovers trope on its head.

4.5 stars. That was an amazing captivating story! Strongly and convincingly written.
Fred was bullied when in high school. Years later after his divorce, he’s been beaten by mugglers in an ally.
Suffering panic attacks and left with trauma he starts therapy at Knockout Gym, a queer-friendly space. He got a trainer who’s specialized in his particular situation.
But wtf! This trainer is his former bully from high school.

“I could see his scar better too. My scar.”

Corbett isn’t the guy he used to be. He’s been through hell and deeper and is now a therapist.
He can’t believe the guy he had a crush on, whom he bullied, is joining the gym with him as a trainer.

What follows is a strong story, you can imagine a road with hurt and healing. and. It’s all very convincingly written. The author did a great job, both guys have still enough to work on, it's not all miraculously healed and over.
I found it a wonderful experience, and loved the characters and their journey!

I think I've read about 2 true bully books in my life - and I haven't read Wrath yet - but in total yeah, it's about 2. That's how rare a true bully trope is. Most of these books are miles away from bullying and offer completely nothing besides some cheesiness and mediocre sex.

Yeah, even the sex didn't work for me, so I have no idea why I'm giving it 1.75⭐. This sucked.

🟡 "Bully" trope
🟢 MMA gym, wrestling (it's not hot, the story managed to make it weird af)
🔵 Both MMCs 33 years old
🟣 Bisexual / gay
🟢 Size difference
🟡 Quick insta love story, chemistry and potential relationship not believable
🌶️ Some sex scenes in passing on the light side, full sex scene at the very end; this time t/b but hinting at vers

For the life of me I can't understand why authors are stating the book has a bully trope when it's far from it. I want my bully to be a real bully, not to end his role in 1 or 2 chapters and then turn into mush with no personality, I really want to feel the dynamic between the bully and the bullied, to really get the essence of what's going on between them.

This doesn't have any kind of bullying whatsoever in it, Corbett, the bully was an asshole in highschool but we don't get to read about that. We get the main characters 15 years later when they're 33 years old, Corbett a wrestling coach/therapist at a LGBT friendly gym and Freddy a jobless software engineer, both kind of broke and without friends, meeting each other after years of bad luck and after some slight miscommunication both eventually hooking up.

Hot? No. Even the wrestling didn't make it hot.

"I had Corbett ready to tap out a second time, with me the victor, like a D&D critical hit against a, well, barbarian who hadn’t known who he was dealing with. But he knew."

See? Not hot.

Every step they made was described with wrestling terms, there was some unnecessary plot thrown in there and some nerd material that was boring as hell, so

"I spun out of Corbett’s hold after a quick pat of his hands, and it seemed that Street Fighter/ Mortal Kombat moment I’d been jokingly longing for— so long as I didn’t end up on my ass— was about to happen, with the universe announcing: FIGHT!"

This wasn't it. Cringe de la cringe of cheesiness and too formal dialogues, far, far away from sexy. Freddy fell on Corbett's dick like a falling tree and forgave the whole ordeal just to lick his abs pretty damn soon in the story.
Which I get, but come on, at least be interesting about it, have some character, some passion, but no, these two were boring as can be.

Disappointing, but then again not, because there just aren't any real bully books out there.

Huge fan of Amanda's paranormal writing, so I figured why not give here contemporary a go, and wow, does it not disappoint.
Fred has had a bad year, and when he seeks help from Knockout Gym, he doesn't expect his past tormenter to come back to help him move forward. This is a redemption story for Corbett , but by no means does Fred forgive. No, he sees that Corbett has grown. This growth enables Fred to be able to move past his struggles to come out the other side with confidence and, above all, hope. What a powerful moving read where you will fall hard for both these men and hope the best in all their future endeavors.
So far, I have read four books from this universe and have been highly impressed with each one and am looking forward to seeing everyone's else's stories.

This novella was perfection! D&D references throughout, cute feisty nerd x reformed bully jock, lots of up and close tussling in and out of the bedroom? This book deserves all the stars!

Fred is newly divorced, newly unemployed and newly out of the closet as a bisexual. He has also just suffered a hate-fuelled beating which resurfaced memories of savage bullying he endured at school. Fred feels like the world is collapsing in on him. Desperate the help her brother, Fred’s sister enrols him at Knockout gym with a counsellor/trainer to teach him self defence as well as give counselling sessions.

Fred is horrified to discover that his new counsellor/trainer is none other than his school bully, Corbett. Corbett is equally shocked to see Fred but knows that this is his chance to make it up to him - he is a changed man and is determined to help Fred to see that as well as heal.

Goshhhhh the chemistry between Fred and Corbett was off the charts and I absolutely loved their arc from enemies to lovers. I loved their open communication and although there was a lot of past-angst and difficult background that they had to cover, their actual relationship was very angst free and sweet.

I very much recommend you check this out when it releases on 12th January 2024! It is part of the ‘Fighting for love’ shared universe set at the Knockout gym. Thank you to the author for the free eARC of this book - all opinions are my own!

I normally dislike former bully romances as I find it difficult to believe that the victimised MC (nearly always) seems to forgive far too easily and usually it's because they can't resist the good looking bully aka magic d!ck MC. Just not realistic to me especially when you factor in the psychological and sometimes physical scars that bullying leaves on a person.

This book is the best I've read of this trope. I thought it was realistic, well written and the author didn't inject a quick fix.

Both MCs very likeable, the storyline enjoyable and I liked that Freddy and Corbett recognise they both still have a lot to work through (Fred still in therapy etc).

First book by this author, won't be the last.

There was a little more of the MMA in this book and for some reason the MC and his friends were all D&D fans and there was quite a bot of D&D in the book. Have to be honest I had no idea what they were doing or talking about.
This book features Fred. He is persuaded to go to a local MMA gym for counselling and some self defence training as he had been beaten up in the street. It so turns out that his instructor was the very person who bullied him in school.
I did enjoy this book. Nice to see Corbett and Fred get on and achieve their HEA.
One thing though I did wonder as Fred was unemployed how he kept his apartment going whilst living with this friend Harry.

Facing your past

Another sweet addition to this series. I love the concept of being able to give someone grace for the actions they made as child while still holding them accountable. Then also being able to see them for the adult they are who has done the work to be better.

Fred and Corbett’s story was so sweet with an under layering of courage and redemption. You need to read this now.

I really enjoyed this book. Corbett and Fred were too cute not to fall in love with while reading this. Big fan of Amanda’s work and will continue to read more of it! Reformed bully had his own fight against himself to win and his prior victim fighting to control the urges he had always felt…plus some steam. Very much enjoyed all the nerdy D&D references!

Fred and Corbett. An enemies to lovers romance. Usually bullies trigger me but I enjoyed this book. It’s not an easy subject to cover but Corbett really redeems from his bully ways. Fred has a tough time but together they find balance. Fight or flight, right?

Freddy was frequently bullied in high school for being nerdy, and Corbett was the prom king and stereotypical mean jock that was his main bully. Over a decade later Freddy had a really shitty week: he signed divorce papers, lost his job, and then was attacked and mugged. Spiraling into a rough emotional place and struggling with severe panic attacks from both his past bullying and recent mugging, his sister talks him into joining an MMA-centered gym that also offers self-defense classes and a counseling-type atmosphere.

When he arrives to meet his new trainer, he comes face to face with none other than his worst bully in high school. Corbett had changed his life around after years of substance abuse and had realized that he was gay, something he'd always accused Freddy of when he bullied him back in school. Their story is a true enemies-to-lovers, and I have to say both Freddy and Corbett are so cute together! This is a quick, easy read.

ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book by Amanda Meuwissen, and it won't be the last. I thought Fred and Corbett were an excellent addition to this series. All of the books in the series that I have read so far have been heartwarming and sweet, this one was no exception.

We meet Fred who has been experiencing one setback after another. When he finally takes steps to live a life true to who he is, he gets hit with one blow after another, both metaphorical and physical. His story really is heartbreaking. As he begins to pick up the pieces and reclaim his lost confidence, he comes face to face with his high school bully, Corbett.

Corbett wasn't just some bro-jock in high school who taunted Fred. The things Corbett did were truly awful and traumatic. They are only briefly mentioned, but I still caution readers who have a traumatic history with bullies. As seems to be the case with many bullies, Corbett's actions were more about internalized hate than anything to do with Fred.

When we do meet Corbett, it's to find that he hit his own rock bottom and has been climbing his way back up and making significant changes along the way. Though he has truly changed and become a better person, this isn't a redemption story. I really appreciated that Fred did not gloss over or instantly forgive Corbett's past actions. Fred showed incredible strength of character by giving Corbett the chance to prove that he has changed and was able to separate thoughts of past-Corbett and present-Corbett. As Fred told his sister, present-Corbett is a different person now and has done the work to deserve a fresh start.

The romance was sweet with some good steam sprinkled in here and there. The side characters were well developed and engaging. There was also a secondary plot that was hinted at throughout the story then became more prominent in the second half. It was nice to see mentions of other series characters without having to avoid any spoilers. All around, this was a great quick read. The series as a whole is worth binging over a weekend.

Fred Bard (33), recently divorced, unemployed, assaulted and convinced to try a one-two combo of therapy and self defense training.

Corbett Jahns (33), former bully, prom king, and athlete with a bright future turned washed up, self-loathing addict who got a second chance and is now a trainer/therapist at Knockout MMA Training Center.

I'll probably revisit my review when I can type on a computer instead of my phone but I just loved this book. I'll be honest I was nervous going into this one since I am not a fan of bullies to lovers, or even a lot of enemies to lovers books since I usually need a lot of convincing to get behind the relationship. It rarely feels like it works given the history between the characters, it can be a lot of baggage and history to overcome in a believable manner. I didn't get that here. Did it feel a little fast and anticlimactic? Yeah, a little, but I preferred that to wallowing in negative feelings, thoughts, and antagonistic actions for dozens of pages (which probably helped me hop on the Corbett and Freddy train) even if it might have been more realistic.

I adored that Fred was able to recognize that Corbett was simply not the same person he knew in high school. I loved the lines about not forgiving him as it perfectly conveyed his feelings. That Corbett had been through some trauma himself helped in that you could also see him struggle to view himself as worthy despite how much of a hypeman he was for his clients.

I loved the small family of side characters that propped Fred up, it was lovely to see even if he didn't appreciate it as much as he should have (which honestly made things more realistic). I'm not a D&D fan or knowledgeable about the game at all, but reading the campaign scenes was amusing and I loved how everyone embraced Corbett into the fold as a newbie.

I think the thing I enjoyed most about this book was the mystery side quest of who was sabotaging the gym and other fighters. It is my absolute favourite romantic literary device to have the romantic leads join forces for a common goal, in the case to solve a bit of a mystery and combined with everything else I was just sucked into the story. I'm excited to read more of the series.

I was given an ARC and voluntarily wrote an honest review.
Book 4/8 (Amazon release order), read fourth.

Note: Chronologically, this book takes place earlier than at least Fighting Myself (Corbett mentions the gym needs a new receptionist at one point), which impacted my reading experience with that book. I'm now not sure what the reading order actually is as I had assumed it was the order they were being released in. This wouldn't be an issue if it were simply a shared world, but there are character crossovers so continuity should have been considered and if I'm honest a simple overarching storyline is one of the main reasons that I enjoy this type of multi-author series but it only works if everyone is on board for that.

I received an ARC in return for an honest review.

Now I wasn't sure how I would feel about this one at first, because enemies to lovers is a good thing but I'm always wary of actual Bully to Lovers. This book was sooooooo worth it though. I initially was very angry towards Corbett due to the things he did to Fred way back when, but just like Fred, I was won over by his charm and his changes.

I know a lot of people have issues with the whole 'closeted bully' trope and yeah I'm not often keen on it either but this book definitely changed that for me. With this one at least.

Both of them had their insecurities and hang ups and despite my misgivings, as always with an Amanda Meuwissen book, and the first book in this awesome series, I could NOT put it down. Corbett was surprisingly sweet and caring and he'd worked so hard to change and it was really great to see. I was still cheering Freddy on at first though, because that anger was totally justified.

Watching how Fred learned to become ever more accepting of himself and his feelings both because of Corbett and just because of himself was wonderful. Their relationship felt like it grew so naturally and it was so sweet and dirty and they were just wonderful characters. I also LOVED seeing him become so confident in protecting himself and those around him. Fred learned to kick butt and he was so freaking good at it! That may have been my fav part honestly, he took on more than he thought he could and he did so good at it. Go Fred! He got so strong, physically and emotionally and it was just really great to see.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I can't wait to read everything else in this series. Another wonderful little story from one of my fav authors. Couldn't have asked for better.

After a divorce and having lost his job, Fred feels insecure. Moreover, one night in the street he’s beaten by some muggers, and starts having panick attacks.
In search of a psychological help, his sister decides to send him to the Knockout Gym to train with a special counselor.
Fred is not convinced at first, and he’s even more reluctant when he meets his counselor-trainer, Corbett, who happens to be the guy who bullied him in high school.
Corbett is changed from those times, and tries to convince Fred about that, succeding and getting him involved in the program.
The guys get to know each other and, despite their past, they become friends. But something more is in the air, and their relationship flourish into something bigger and better for both of them.
Nothing is easy, but they finally get their HEA.
I loved the story, which is really close to reality, and I could relate to some of the points it talked about. I loved both the main characters, Fred and Corbett, who manage to pass to a next level helping each another.
I adored in particular the big change Corbett went through: he was a bully and then he became a very good counselor-trainer, putting his personal experience on behalf of those who needed it.
Moreover, but this is really personal, since I’m a fan of both, another plus in this book are the references to Dragon Ball Z and Rocky.
Definitely a 5 star!

I am sure that someone familiar with D&D found those parts of the story relevant and entertaining, but for me, it was a total bust due to my total lack of knowledge of the subject... grrr

As for the rest of the story... OK, I didn't really get a lot of the training descriptions either... "grappling"? But, that was one hell of a fight scene (I have read a few of those in my time)!

OH, I know... I loved the spider plants! I have killed several over the years, so I can relate to Fred's dilemma!

But, seriously, bullies will bully for many reasons, and even though it is always wrong, sometimes the self-hate of the bully can have the most lasting effects in life. I was glad to see that Fred saw past, well, their past, and could understand how Corbett had changed. Not forgive him for the past, but to accept that he was a changed man in the present. A man that Fred could like and be attracted to without fear of being hurt again! Fred and Corbett's journey wasn't an easy one... but, it was worth the trip!

Hopefully, my next book by this author will be something that I am more knowledgeable about... like gardening! LOL!!!

3.5 A high school long term bully victim meets his bully years later who is his potential martial arts instructor. Fred, the bully victim, has a loud and total meltdown when he sees Corbett at the gym.
I didn’t blame him and was surprised and had to suspend some disbelief that the writing had Fred letting Corbett comfort him and Fred decides to continue the lessons. This is ascribed to Corbett now being kind to him and to a mutual attraction.
Can’t see this happening in real life, but I read on. It was an okay read, the MCs had a nice romance, but I’m just not into these intrigue sub plots. They are getting so hard to avoid in MM romance, too. Just give me the love story. I don’t need to see the MCs in danger after sleuthing around.
Also, there was too much description of the grappling moves in martial arts and the intricate dialogue in the Dungeons and Dragons scenes with Fred’s family and friends was so over my head! Totally incomprehensible. I started reciting the Greek alphabet to reassure myself that I’m not incapable of grasping a concept. Truth! 😂

Fighting My Bully -

“It’s easier when you’re saying it to someone else.” Corbett leaned into my hand when I moved from wiping his tears to holding his cheek. “I guess… I’ve been fighting my bully this whole time too. Funny thing is he’s the same one as yours.“

Freddy was terribly tormented by Corbett all through high school. When Freddy’s sister Franny buys him sessions at the Knockout Gym, to help him over a vicious attack, he is further tested when he finds Corbett as his instructor.

Amanda Meuwissan adds Fighting My Bully to the Fighting for Love author collaboration, and paints a picture of overcoming turmoil in both the victim and abuser. There is thoughtful dialogue that helps readers to understand the depth of fear that leads to bullying, and the changes one can choose to make once they truly understand what they are doing.

This amazing book allows a young man the chance to not only learn how to forgive, but to grow a healthy relationship from that forgiveness!

It’s true when they say most bullies are hiding from themselves or the world and use violence as a mask.

I loved this second chance story. It required some work on Corbett's part to convince Fred to even give him the time of day. But they are so lovely together, I’m glad he did.

It’s not just the bullying he faced in school, but also an attack by muggers, that gives him pause to letting someone into his life that may still be the same boy he was back then.

But Corbett has truly changed and he’s ready to prove it.

I truly enjoyed the journey both these men took to be together. The healing and rebuilding of trust. The love.

It was a wonderful story

This book was decent. Freddy is really down on his luck with a divorce, a lay off, and being mugged all within weeks of each other. Months after his mugging, his sister convinces him to go to an MMA gym that also specializes in helping people with trauma overcome it. Who shows up to be his trainer/counselor? None other than his high school bully, Corbett, who used to beat and taunt him. Since then, Corbett has grown and changed, and he convinces Freddy to let him help with his trauma.

I liked the fact that Freddy doesn’t immediately just agree to Corbett training him, even though I still think he gives in too quickly. I wish there was a little more development of their relationship as the story carries on. It all feels kind of shallow from my perspective. Corbett kind of comes off as smarmy in the beginning, which I do not like as a general rule. Smarmy people makes me wanna throw something at them. Overall, not a bad book, but definitely only in the 3 star area.

I was verrrry hesitant given the bully thing, but this is probably the only bully-romance kind of thing I’ll ever like. Well, I didn’t like it a lot, but it made it work for the most part by the bully hitting a real rock bottom and reforming drastically over about a decade before reuniting with his victim, and the former victim really only agreeing initially to spend time with the former bully because he had a chance to hit him. Helped that there weren’t overtures of “I forgive you” with the former victim falling all over himself, and that the former bully was constantly owning up to what he’d done and taking accountability.

It wasn’t entirely believable though, since it did progress quickly from “I run from you on sight” to “let’s make out on my couch”. It was fairly short, so it was definitely more of a length issue than pacing—it didn’t exactly feel rushed so much as an accordion that got glued together so it’s stuck in a smushed position and it still obviously an accordion but it’s not really living up to its potential
idk,,,, anyway having time/space to show more gradual changes and fill in the world building—like were the guys who attacked Fred arrested? I kind of can’t believe there was no mention of what they looked like/Fred reacting to people who looked similar? Some of the D&D references could have had a smidge of an explanation (I didn’t want to end up down a google rabbit hole so like just say in the text a phrase or two about the thing you said especially since there were a couple multi-paragraph descriptions of the characters playing D&D)? The secondary characters felt more like cardboard cutouts than people (which is not what I usually get with this author, felt like maybe it was an earlier work but I guess it’s new)?—so maybe there was a length limit or something, but to me even an extra 30 pages would have filled in a lot. take it from a body chalk outline to a whole portrait

EDIT:
I remembered later some of the ways the MC was bullied and this is generously 2.5 stars. The permanent damage emotionally and physically was too far, it needed to be a couple degrees fewer for a redemption>lovers plot line

I usually don’t read shorter books like “Fighting my Bully”, but I liked this one.
Freddy is going through a difficult period of his life, between a disastrous divorce, the traumatizing aftermath of a terrible assault and searching a job. Now, he faces a new challenge as he discovers that his high school bully Corbett is his new counseling trainer at Knockout Gym. But Corbett is different, he changed.
As someone who’s familiar with the MMA discipline, I was very interested by this counseling part, and it allowed me to appreciate the story even more. This standalone is very cute and I liked that Freddy got his confidence back throughout the story step by step. I was very curious about the evolution between Freddy and Corbett, and Freddy’s trauma was handled niftily but I think it should have taken longer to really explore their relationship especially given their past.

I am writing this honest review because I received an ARC. I loved this book. The story of Corbett and Fred (Freddy) was amazing and how they overcame the past of being bully and bullied and moved into a future together. The book is full of feels and sizzled with electricity between them and the alternating sexual aggression was amazing. The sex scenes hot as hell. I mean "Gibberish. Key smash. Brain cells disintegrating. Fuck Anna and whatever she did with her life next. Good riddance. Goodbye." (direct quote from the book.) That reaction is worth noting. Many laughs to be had, too.
Loved it. Will read more of this series. The more I read the more I want.
And I want more of Amanda Meuwissen's books, too.

Divorced, unemployed, assaulted - Fred needed a break and some help so he goes to the MMA gym for counseling and some self defense moves where he is assigned to Corbett. Corbett was his high school bully who assaulted and traumatized him but is a reformed alcoholic, addict and wash out from sports and now a counselor and trainer. A living nightmare for Fred but soon all that will change. There is nothing better than an enemy turned lover story and Amanda told it well. Fred, down and out, climbs out of his depression and it's hard to accept but not forgive. Corbett shows daily he's not the bully he was, done the impossible and changed. I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary opinion.

There is so much with this addition, from overcoming traumatic experiences to mending broken relationships years later and proving that people are capable of change.

I appreciate the mended relationship between the two MCs. I especially enjoyed their newfound friendship with their explicitly flirtatious banter. And, I'm with Corbett and feeling bad for the janitor cleanup duty.

Freddy and Corbett were swoon-worthy, with their dark history and traumatic past experiences. Overcoming their demons paved the way for their future happiness which just so happens to be unexpectedly together.

“Reformed bully”is a fraught trope— if done right, however, it can be thought provoking and rewarding and lovely, and I liked the way the author wove hurt/comfort, enemies-to-lovers, and a certain amount of repentance / atonement into Fred and Corbett’s story. It took me a while to warm up to Corbett (bullies, even reformed, deeply repentant ones, are not automatically likable) but he did win me over, and there’s plenty of healing and feeling for both characters here. If the blurb, and tropes, appeal, this is a compelling and even moving read.

Fighting My Bully!

Fred is just trying to move on after getting a divorce, mugged and losing his job. Things just seem to keep going down hill for him. Till his sister makes him go to Knock Out Gym and it’s there that he’s met with a formal bully!

Corbett works at Knock Out Gym ashamed of his past but he has grown so much! Life was difficult for him and he just wants to right his wrongs so when the man he used to bully when they were kids comes into his gym he knows it’s his time to make things right!

This was such a good book! Every book in this shared world is definitely a reread!

The trope of bully romance can be a really tricky one to do well but Amanda Meuwissen has delivered a stellar book. Corbett and Fred are both flawed and beautiful in their humanity. Corbett has made his peace with himself and doesn’t push Fred, he just waits patiently and supports him through his journey. This entire series is gritty and real - with characters that struggle to make ends meet, that have lost loved ones and it is incredibly refreshing to read stories about people who I can relate to. Ones that save themselves in the end. Absolutely fantastic!

I AM REALLY LOVING THIS FIGHTING FOR LOVE SERIES!! Each book is just so spectacular and filled with so much emotion! The same can be said about this book! Fred and Corbett are just so wonderful, and their journey to their hea is so meaningful. Fred had to overcome his fear and anger towards his former high-school bully, and Corbett had to prove he had changed for the better. I loved seeing the love, acceptance, and beauty of their relationship. I loved the side characters and just overall read! Well written and a wonderful read.

Fred had been through the wringer on bad luck, and he didn’t really seem to have anyone in his corner. He lived with his best friend, but Harry was dating Fred’s overbearing sister, and they were weird about sneaking around instead of just going to her place! Corbett was a very kind character, but he couldn’t forgive himself for his past, so he didn’t feel like he deserved good things. They worked very well together and I loved Fred’s determination to pursue Corbett, taking back some power in his life. Overall, it was a sweet story with low angst, medium heat, and a HFN.

This was another great addition to this multi author series, I really liked Freddy and Corbett together although they had history you could see a connection that Corbett fought the hardest to resist but Freddy wore him down and got his way and the side drama of the rival gym just added enough of a mystery to the story. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I don’t think it’ll be the last. Well worth a read.
