“Surrounded by the both of them, I feel safe for the first time in years, and like I can finally breathe.”
Cole Cassidy has spent the past three years raising his younger brother, and he’s faltering under the pressure of raising a pre-teen. As trouble in his brother's life escalates, the feelings of inadequacy reach an all time high. When a last-ditch effort to help his brother turns into the lifeline they both need, Cole can't do anything but hold on.
Childhood best friends to lovers, Lucas and Brooks Novak, have the life they've always wanted. Until Brooks's newest client walks into their gym and turns the couple's world upside down.
Cole’s brother thrives under Brooks's careful tutelage, and seeing him flourish is everything Cole has ever wanted. The more time the brothers spend with the couple, the harder Cole falls, despite his best intentions.
Lucas and Brooks never expected to fall for Cole, or for him and his brother to fit so seamlessly into their lives, but now they’re unwilling to let the brothers go. Cole fights his feelings at every turn, but the pair are unlike anyone he’s ever met, and he can’t deny their patient understanding is addictive…except they belong to each other, and he knows better than to hold on to false hope.
Trust has never come easy for any of them, but if they can learn to let go, they might just become the family the four of them were always meant to be.
Fighting for Breath is a standalone MMX romance novella in the multi-author series Fighting for Love. All the stories take place in the shared gym, Knockout MMA Training Facility. At Knockout Gym, happily ever afters are hard-won.
Abrianna Denae is a queer author living in Northern California. An English major, they have always had a passion for writing. Deciding to sit down and write one of the many stories that had plagued their mind for years was the easy part—finding the time to do it was a different story. Caffeine is their best friend, and sleep is their worst enemy. A lover of books that make the reader feel something, Abrianna tries to incorporate as much of their real-world views and feelings into their stories as they can.
I have been given a free ARC copy for an honest review. The book is about two sets of people. Lucas and Brooks who are a gay couple and are helping out in a gym and are on the lookout to include a third person into their relationship. Brooks is enby. The other set of people are brothers Cole and Nathan, Cole being in his mid twenties and gay and the carer of his 12 year old brother who is gender fluid and gets into trouble at school with bullies. The story progresses into Nathan getting trained at the gym by Brooks and over the weeks Cole and Brooks and Lucas are attracted to each other. Will there be a relationship at the end?
So I was impressed that the book had been properly edited for typos. Thank you. The story had merit and the plot progressed well. Each of the three adult characters narrates the story in turn. I had a bit of trouble getting used to the pronouns Brooks used because in some instances when it reads "their brother" it becomes ambiguous about whose brother it is? Their bother as in plural several people's brother or what we might has said in the past "his brother". Also the relationships between all the characters with the surname Novak was not explained till much later in the book, by then I had made peace with not being able to work out relationships and had gotten over my initial annoyance of not being able to figure out how they were all related to each other. Although the three adult each got their say in the book as the story progressed, I didn't get the feeling of love developing between them. I felt left wondering where the feelings were. It is rather complex to get a poly relationship on paper and I found that the poly didn't happen for me and that in the one sex scene in the book I was left wanting and it all felt like a "take your turn" rather than an all involved happening. All up the book is worth a read, but I did struggle at times.
✨️ "Fighting to Breathe" by Abrianna Denae ✨️ Series: "Fighting for Love", multiple authors
✨️ Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
✨️ I know I say this a lot, but I absolutely adored this story. The growth of all the characters was heartwarming to watch. I loved the relationship between Cole and Nat. Cole is just trying his best with the resources he has, but the love he has for his little brother is palpable.
✨️ The way that Brooks and Lucas just accepted the brothers into their lives and helped them out when they had nobody? Wonderful. I loved the conversations between Nat and Brooks regarding gender identity, and the conversations between Lucas and Cole about how best to support their loved ones. Both were powerful in their own right, and I hope people in thos3 situations have the love and support that Brooks and Nat do.
✨️ This series is shaping up to be one of my favorites. I haven't read them all yet, but I haven't seen a bad one yet.
Pick up if you love: brothers just trying to do their best, established relationships, snarky best friends, and a family with so much love to give.
Okay. Okay I'm crying a little bit. Fluffy books just get me all emotional! I feel like I'm fighting for my own breath, this was so touching and love. My heart goes out to Nat and Cole, the loss of a parent is so hard. I loved seeing Nat fight to find his true self. I loved how Cole put him first at every step of the way. I loved seeing Brooks and Lucas break down Coles walls and slowing him love. This book was so well written, you can tell how much love was put into it. I loved all of the trans and enby rep! My heart is so warm right now and I am all up in my feels, I need to go read a dark book to calm me down lol. Love Adrianna Denae's work
There were so many emotions packed in this story, they just reached out and grabbed you, not letting go, making you feel every emotion possible. It's not just the MCs that have you all emotional but also the secondary characters. Cole and his little brother, Nathan, are still adjusting and dealing with their grief. Poor Cole is trying to be there for his brother but he doesn't believe he has the capabilities. Then he takes a chance on the Novaks. Boy does this chance pay off, not only for Nathan but also for Cole. Lucas and Brooks are exactly what Cole and Nathan needed to ease their pain and begin to heal. Cole develops a romantic relationship while Nathan develops a much needed support group. There is soul searching, true acceptance of self, strong emotions (anger, sadness, confusion, helplessness, and joy), beautiful relationships built, and true love in all forms (friendship, made family, and romantic). Cole, Lucas, and Brook relationship slowly develops, allowing Cole all the time he needs to adjust and learn to trust. But Cole is not the only one needing healing. Brooks also had some internal demons to overcome. Their strengths and weaknesses just made them a better, stronger throuple. Loved that all 3 had their own unique personalities but fit together perfectly, balancing each other out. There was plenty of communication, no cheating, and each was represented equally. I do hope we get more books on the Novak family cause that family is full of interesting characters 😁
Omfg!! This book had every single emotion, feeling, and heartfelt display of affection known to any reader! These three were absolutely perfect together and should be what every couple (or throuple) strives to become. Their openness with each other is borderline magical, their honesty is truly remarkable and their willingness to share their love for each other is truly inspiring!
Cole and Nathan’s, our featured orphaned brothers, sibling dynamic was emotional and grievous, but they were making it work. Brooks and Lucas were just what they needed, in many ways. Nathan with finding himself and struggling with acceptance, and Cole barely hanging on and almost at his breaking point. And, the close-nit Novak family was beneficial to both, especially with each sibling having their own impact.
I just realized that the intimacy between the three didn’t begin until way late in the story, and I’m not even mad. Abrianna’s writing style had me caught up with the entire storyline and the way the characters were written, that the story was over entirely too quickly! And, to be completely honest, this was my first time reading her work but I can guarantee you it will not be the last!
Shout out to the smart mouth and dramatic tween, too!! Nathan’s wittiness is right up my alley, even with having gone through so much at such a young age.
This book is such a great representation of poly relationships in comparison to others I have read. The clear communication, the care, the feelings. I love it all. Some brilliant conversations over gender identity and exploring how everyone is different. I loved being there for Nathan's journey too. The aspect of found family was heart warming and I found myself cheering for the characters in both the big moments and the small achievements. I wanted to wrap them all in a bug hug and tell them what a great job they were all doing. For me, this book was like drinking a warm cup of tea or hot chocolate at home, snuggled on the sofa. It was a comfort and I feel it may be a comfort read from now on.
This book was excellent!!! You always expect a book to be good, but I wasn't expecting for this romance to be this good!!! This is definitely my favorite romance of the year so far, and clearly a 5 stars!!!
First of all, I LOVE the family aspect of this book!!! Both with our two main siblings, Cole and Nathan still dealing with the grief over losing their parents, and this adapting to another reality of their relationship... and trying to help his younger brother deal with the bullying in school and try to find people who understand him!!! And then on the other hand, you also have Brooks and Lucas' family, the way they're not only partners, but also family, the community they have at home, the support they had found together K the parents and siblings were just so much fun!!!
Secondly and still on family, it's also the beautiful way Nathan fits with Brooks and Lucas, that they make a place for him, that this relationships really help him as well, at finding his place, and talking about his feelings in a way people can understand him better!!!
Thirdly, the romance was really sweet, I LOVE how it starts with their friendship and spending time together, and going on little dates, in a way that's so sweet and cute!!! But then you also have such adult and mature problems they're dealing with, and it's Lucas and Brooks learning how to open their relationship, to make space for someone new; and also Cole exploring a relationship for the first time in a long time.
This is truly a beautiful and perfect romance and I want everyone to read it!!! This is everything I search for in a romance - sweet and cute and with a strong family feeling, and with the perfect balance of smut for me (just a couple scenes when your personal investment for these people grows!!!)
It was a sweet and short book. I enjoyed it, though, I have to say all the talks about gender and coming to terms with your identity, is what's really special for me about this book.
I didn't feel their love story that much. Maybe because they didn't really show why they had so many feelings for each other. Or maybe because I'm also in a 17 year relationship with my highschool sweetheart and it was hard for me to understand. Don't get me wrong, I like poly relationships. These two just felt like such a tight unit that I have a hard time imagining them opening up to another person, I don't know. I liked the book though, it was sweet how Nathan got more people in his corner.
This book was another fantastic read in the fight series. I will admit that I struggled with the they pronouns. Being the long term romance reader this was difficult for me to follow the they them pronouns. Truly this is based on my old school reading. But once I fell into the story I had a better handle on it. This is a poly relationship book and I loved the three main characters. How they got there to where they found a relationship. I wished this book was longer because I felt all three characters deserved more in depth characteristics that could have been explored. But over all this book ties up a relationship that I know a reader would enjoy.
Oh my gosh this story was SO good! I love triads, and this one is something special. Cole needed someone to be there for him, he had so much on his shoulders that he had to bear on his own. Brooks and Lucas were exactly what he needed. Poor, sweet Nat (Cole’s sibling that he was guardian of after their parent’s deaths) needed a little support of his own that Brooks so perfectly offered. Found families are the best families (in my opinion). This is a slow burn, but boy once it ignites; whooo! Definitely an amazing addition to the Fighting For Love series.
4.5 stars. Outstanding representation of various types of genderqueer and trans people. The communication between the characters was inspiring. The book felt a lot longer than a novella due to all the details and feelings although it still wasn't long enough, I would have loved to read more about these characters and the further development of their poly and family relationships. I received a complimentary copy of this book and am happy to leave a voluntary review.
Fighting for Breath is part of the multi author Fighting for Love series. Each book is a standalone story but why not enjoy the whole series. This is an MMM story so if that isn't your thing just be aware. This is the story of Cole who is raising his younger brother Nathan and Lucas and Brooks an established couple. What can I say about this book other than it is amazing. I love all the emotions this story brings. I love the Novak family and how accepting they are. I would definitely recommend this book and series.
Brooks and Lucas were such an amazing couple. They were the established couple and they had just so much love to give they extended it to Cole and Nate. I really, really wanted justice for Nate. He was bullied so hard my heart absolutely broke for him. Cole initially fights his feelings for Brooks and Lucas. Will they add the brothers to their family unit?
What can I really say, but this novella is a nonbinary representation masterpiece. A novella should not be able to give you this much raw emotion and power that you can feel the grief of these characters, along with the acceptance and love they all end up feeling as they become more accepting that happiness will happen after loss. Each of these characters is so uniquely different yet, so right for each other and so frigging real. It's just mind boggling it was all accomplished in a novella! Abrianna has shown us the highs and lows of being nb, and with support and love, they can come out for the better and be loved and cherished. The Novak family is just the best ever in acceptance and love on so many angles. I'm in awe of this family. A truly remarkable book, side note Nathan better get a story, they deserve their happiness too.
Y’all grab a blanket, snacks and drinks because once you start this you won’t be putting it down until you finish it!! I was hooked from the beginning. After reading A Gentle Way to Love, I wanted more of the poly world and Abri delivered. I absolutely LOVE all these characters. Some of the stuff they all went through or are going through, yeah I saw red. I’m looking forward to more in this series!! You rock Abri!! 🖤🔥🥊🔥🖤
This is truly a book about love without limitations and in all forms possible - the love between orphaned brothers who have to overcome grief and built a new life alone/ Cole and Nathan/; the love between best friends which swiftly and seamlessly morphed in love between partners/ Brooks and Lucas/; the love between friends and like minded people, who work together in Knockout gym, providing safe place for the LGBQTA+ community, but not only and the love in a family/ some parents are really supportive even if not all/. Abrianna Denae's writing language is love and emotions - her characters, stories and plot development speak directly to the soul. They are so well written, so deep, wholesome and meaningful you can feel it while reading and live through their experience. Brooks and Lucas were in already established relationship when they met the two brothers Cole and Nathan. It's one of this beautiful relationships based on communication, respect and acceptance that radiates comfort, warmth and feeling of unwavering stability. Both Brooks and Lucas felt strongly the pull towards Cole when they met him but in different ways and intensity. Cole was the sole caretaker for his pre teen brother Nathan after a tragic incident left them alone, grieving and totally lost. He was struggling and fighting to remain afloat and provide for his brother but some needs go well beyond the physical. It was a life-changing moment that connected Brooks, Lucas, Cole and Nathan in unexpected ways. For Cole and Nathan, it was even more - a much-needed breath of fresh air, an island of calm in the hostile sea of daily challenges they both navigated, an embrace of unconditional, caring love they both desperately needed. The story also has a strong non-binary presentation and interesting interpretation of transitioning and finding your true self, even if it doesn't conform to societal norms and expectations / Brooks is enby and Nathan is in the process of discovering who he really is /. The underlined message woven into the story is that everyone has the human right to be accepted and respected in the way they identify. But discovering who you really are is a lifelong journey of self-discovery.
I received this book as an ARc in return for an honest review.
I quite liked this one, but I will admit, I struggled a fair bit with it too.
Things I liked: Brooks and their gender and expression of it, their strength in relation to it and the way they spoke to Cole's sibling Nat/Nathan. I found myself experiencing and learning new things about gender fluidity that I myself, someone who's fairly recently come to this conclusion myself, didn't know or realise about it. And it gave me a whole new understanding and comfort with myself. Lucas and Brooks relationship was lovely and so wonderful, and the way they communicated their thoughts and desires so openly and carefully was great. I loved that so so much. Lucas's mom and the siblings relationships to him and Brooks was also super fun. And the way both Brooks and Lucas took to Nat/Nathan was so great, they didn't just have interest in Cole as a romantic partner but also in Nat/Nathan as someone to protect and guide and be a parental figure to.
I also really enjoyed the way Brooks dealt with Nat and helped Nathan feel good about their own thoughts and feelings about it. It was really nice.
Things I struggled a bit with: Nat/Nathan was so much more grown up sounding than I expected for the age. I don't know it just felt like Nat was more grown than half the grown ups a lot of the time and it was a little jarring. Maybe that's just me, I'm not sure. The feelings Cole, Brooks and Lucas all shared were lovely and sweet but they felt a little lacking or sudden to me. At some points it felt right and wonderful but yeah at others I found myself a little feeling like I didn't quite get the emotion and the feelings I'd hoped for from this book.
Overall all though, I did love the themes in this book and the characters were good. Cole's attitude towards protecting and 'fighting' for Nat/Nathan to keep him safe and comfortable was perfect. I am so glad he had all of that protectiveness for his sibling, and the will to stand up for his rights. It was a sweet read and a very nice one.
The second Abrianna Denae announced they were doing this series, I immediately kept my eye on my email to sign up for an ARC because I knew the book was going to be good and Abrianna did not disappoint.
I saw how beautifully they wrote three different POVs in their books A Gentle Way to Love and All I Fear. This book was no different. I felt the way Lucas cared for and protected Brooks, Cole, and Nathan. I could relate to the complicated conversations around gender that Brooks had with Nathan. And I rooted for Cole to get his happily ever after because he deserves to be happy, too.
The way Abrianna wrote about Nathan's struggle with his gender and Brooks' past was perfect in the way that gender is not one size fits all and can be hard to express. Reading Nathan's journey reminded me of when I was his age and how alone in the world I felt when I didn't know anyone who was transgender. Brooks is like the older trans sibling every trans kid needs and every time Brooks opened up about his own journey, I felt a little less alone.
I loved how well Cole's process of accepting he wanted both Lucas and Brooks who are a previously established couple with lots of history was shown, as well as the way Lucas and Brooks supported him. It is something that often happens in real life and to see it in a book was just another reason I love reading Abrianna Denae's books.
Overall, this book was heartfelt, funny, inspiring, and a read that is good if you want something on the happier side.
And here are two of my favorite quotes:
"Cole said we might have another sleepover." "Is that okay?" "Sure. Neither of us have any friends, so it's a new experience for us both."
You're not the reason for someone's hate and bigotry, just a convenient target. So, don't ever apologize for things outside of your control, okay? I love you and I will never stop loving you, no matter what happens, but especially not because of someone else's actions.
Cole and his brother Nat/Nathan lost their parents 3 years ago at 22 and 9, leaving Cole responsible for Nat. He's been increasingly getting into trouble at school because he's being bullied over his identity. The school doesn't really seem to be doing anything to support Nat either which is frustrating and disheartening for Cole and Nat. Thankfully Nat's teacher Mr. Novak is really a wonderful person and suggests Nat go to their family gym for some training. Cole is leery but willing to try. When they have a session with Brooks, Nat seems to really enjoy it and Cole is immediately magnetized by Brooks. He's also unhappy because he won't be able to afford the training and hates to disappoint Nat. Brooks takes Cole aside and gives him an impassioned speech about their struggles with identity and how the gym helped them when they needed it. They also offer to waive the fees for the training which Cole is initially refuses due to his pride. As Nat continues to train Brooks, their partner Lucas and Cole start to become more involved and begin a tentative friendship. They're all attracted to one another but Cole is terrified to start anything because they have the potential to absolutely ruin him if things go south. He's got the weight of the world on his shoulders and no one to lean on. Brooks and Lucas want him and Nat to be a part of their family. There's lots of pain because of what Brooks, Cole and Nat have gone through but they've persevered and things seem to be getting better. There's also lots of laughter and I really loved the found family aspect.
I love poly representation in books, and Abrianna did such a wonderful job with it! I absolutely adore how communication is key in the MC's relationship, cause after all that is a really important part of any relationship. I liked how both Brooks and Lucas were open and honest with Cole, and how they made sure to follow Cole's lead at whichever pace he set.
The bond and relationship that grew between Nat and Brooks's character was so beautiful and heartwarming, reading about how Nat opens up to Brooks and trusts him, was so sweet. And was such a pivotal scene. Along with Nat being introduced to Daniel, learning that there were people around him and in his corner that not only listened to him and accepted him, but also having people who understand on a more personal level, was such an endearing moment.
The pace of the story I thought was great! Wasn't too slow, didn't skip or jump ahead. The characters didn't jump into bed or try to rush things, it was built up and paced out in a really nice way that I enjoyed. All of the Novak family was hilarious and their characters added so much found family feels, along with humor to the story!! Every character that was mentioned had a reason to be apart of the story and each added their own personality and contrast to the storyline.
Overall a really fantastic book, full of representation, love, and finding the people you belong with.
This book had several elements I really enjoyed, high on that list a nonbinary MC with they/them pronouns, polyamory, and a strong family emphasis. Despite the stresses recently-orphaned Cole is under, trying to raise his teen sibling who keeps getting into fights at school, the general tone was a warm hug, with a minimum of miscommunications and a lot of acceptance.
Cole is sent to an MMA gym with his younger sibling by the school counselor, with the idea that formal fight training and the emphasis on control that goes with it may be good for Nat, helping the teen get their emotions under better wraps. Cole isn't sold on the idea, but he's out of options, working hard and broke. At the gym, he meets Brooks, one of the trainers, and their husband Lucas, and finds himself craving both the love the two of them share, and each of them individually. He's shocked when they express a return interest in in him, and seem willing to let him into their lives.
There are fewer obstacles and conflicts than there might have been, for an established couple bringing not just a third, but a grieving and belligerent teen, into their lives. This also applies to how their wider circle has no issues with a couple becoming a threesome. Everything moves more smoothly than it might've. But the love is warm and strong, the nonbinary rep is welcome, and the focus on family always makes me happy.
This had an absolute ton of potential, but it didn't quite live up to it. I admire the author's ambition, but there was way too much going on in this, especially considering the length of the book. Much of it focuses on Cole's younger sibling, Nathan, a child who is being bullied and excluded from school and questioning their gender identity. Cole is effectively Nathan's parent since their parents died, so add in a big dose of grief and parental guilt as well. Add in Cole's attraction to their sibling's MMA instructor and their partner, plus a whole passel of Novaks and other gym members, and it's just a lot. Way more than can realistically be addressed in a short book.
The actual romance, such as it is, was very much overshadowed in this. There didn't seem to be a great deal of chemistry and the romance storyline didn't flow very well. Lucas wasn't a strong or defined character, he was just sort of there, blending into the background even though he was supposed to be a MC. I also got very annoyed that the characters frequently spoke in great long speeches. Nobody actually talks like that, but all the characters would go on at some length about whatever subject. It seemed very awkward and unnatural. It's a shame, because it could have been really good, but it wasn't very satisfying.
Solid 3.5 stars I really liked the premise of this book: A young man having to raise his pre-teen brother and lands himself in a relationship with two people who have an established relationship. I like the characters, though I think the 12-year-old speaks and acts like the adults; he didn't seem very kid-like to me. There was some major confusion on my part at various parts of the story. Sometimes it was very confusing trying to figure out who was talking. Talking about one person, then another, and switching back to the first person with no clear indication-- until it doesn't make sense and realize that they're speaking about someone else, now. Part of that has to do with some odd formatting, I think.
There is also a large family involved that doesn't really get any explanation until 14-ish chapters into the book, yet the characters are all popping into the story early on. There was definitely a "Wait, are they a sibling, or friend? Friend or inlaw?" situation that didn't get sorted until later. As far as physical descriptions, there aren't many; I think Brooks gets the most detailed description.
So while the story was great, there was a lot of confusion on my part. I kept having to stop reading in order to figure out what was going on (and to whom), lack of descriptions etc. The enby representation was a nice touch and done pretty well.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What a fantastic book! This is my first by Abrianna (though I do have others on my Kindle waiting) and let me tell you it won’t be my last.
I imagine it can be especially hard to write a poly romance in novella form, bringing three people to life in such a short amount of time. And really Fighting for Breath had four people, because Coles’ sibling Nat was also an integral part of this story. But Abrianna did it perfectly. There was nothing missing from this. I felt connected to all of them.
Lucas and Brooks had such an incredible history together, but when Cole happened upon the scene they can’t deny the mutual attraction to him. But it was just a physical attraction, it was soul deep.
It was lovely the way they all connected around helping Nat, and in the process, also helping themselves.
There was a lot of heartfelt tender emotion, and I loved it. I was also a big fan of the descriptions and depictions of gender.
Third book in the Fighting for Love series. Cole is a young man who has to take care of his younger brother, Nathan, who’s just 12 years old, after their parents passed away. Nathan gets in trouble more than once at school and Cole, following the school supervisor’s advice, decides to let his brother train at the Knockout Gym. Here he meets Brooks, who volunteers as a trainer, and Lucas, Brooks' lover, who’s a physiotherapist. They soon become friends, but there’s also something else, a big attraction between them all, which leads to a great relationship between Brooks, Lucas, and Cole. I loved the story, and all the characters, the main ones, and the others too. They all struggle with something, life has not been easy for them, but they fight to survive, and keep on going against all odds. I have to say that, despite having adored everyone, I particularly fell in love with Brooks. He’s - or I should better use they, since they/them are the right pronouns in this case - so, they are not afraid of who they are, they have a sunny personality, even though they've suffered a lot, and a big heart. They really stole my heart! Great job! Recommended!

It's been a little while since I've read a book by Abriana Denae but this one was worth the wait. I love a good menage story and this one is great. Cole has been raising his younger brother since their parents died a few years ago. It's not easy taking care of a pre-teen and holding down a full-time job. His brother, Nathan, doesn't make things easier by getting into fights at school.
A kind school counselor convinces Cole to let Nathan try working out at a gym where his family members work/volunteer and Nathan loves it. It's hard for Cole to accept the kind of help that Brooks and Lucas are offering but there is something about them that he can't seem to resist and it turns out the Nathan loves working out with Brooks at the gym.
There were many deeply moving parts to this story including Brooks background. The entire Novak family is so supportive of all of their children and very accepting of a poly relationship. I felt the connection between Cole, Brooks and Lucas and I loved how Brooks and Lucas welcomed Cole and his brother into their lives.
An advanced copy of this book was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
The third book in the Fighting For Love shared world and it didn’t disappoint! I love me a good poly trope and the MMA aspect of it all just really makes me swoon!
Cole is trying to do right by his little brother. Support him in every way he can. After losing their parents he is just trying to keep everything going.
Brooks is an Novak by heart and being in a relationship with one since they were 14 kinda just makes it that more real. They’re just living their best life until a cute man concerned comes storming into their life! Making them think good things are yet to come!
Lucas is a physical therapist and works some at the Knock Out Gym with his partner, who he has been with since he was in school. And now he is learning that sometimes some people come into your life and just never leave.
I loved the whole vibe of this little 4 person found family. You can expect lots of snark and lots of love! This book made so very happy!
This story was so sweet. We first meet Cole, who has taken over guardianship of his brother Nat after their parents died three years before and Nat keeps getting into trouble that he isn't causing. After the school counselor suggests that Nat use his energy at Knockouts, Cole is hesitant to say yes but will do anything for Nat.
Brooks and Lucas notice Cole and the way he is protective over his brother, but they both also see a man who deserves to be loved, protected and cherished himself. Cole is again hesitant and isn't sure if he should let them both into their lives due to possible heartache, but he also doesn't want them to slip away without knowing how it feels to be with them both.
This story was more plot than spice, but the intimate scenes we saw were beautifully written.
Plot: 5/5 Spice: 3/5.
I received a free copy of this book via Indie Author Creative and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this book! It achieved something that I often see authors struggling with. This book provided a good story with depth that I found to be fleshed out in under 200 pages. That can be especially tough when telling a poly story.
This book made me feel all the feels. I felt that the poly dynamic was developed organically with a great focus on the strong foundation the established couple had. Then each partner developed their own relationship with Cole while integrating him into their relationship.
The book makes it clear that Lucas and Brooks have a relationship that will survive anything because that is what they are committed to. Cole was a beautiful addition to their love story though.
Then the focus on Cole's brother's Nat was perfect. I love that he found an expansion of he safe space and was able to find people he related to.
