Tightrope: Eve Townsend - Serial Killer Hunter: Book 1

Rate this book
Ten years ago, when Eve Townsend was seventeen years old, Tightrope killed her family and took her younger sister, Maddie. Eve was left alive - the only survivor. After inheriting her family's fortune, Eve has dedicated her life to finding Tightrope, training her body and mind, honing her skills, using every resource at her disposal to track down Tightrope ... and others like him.

Her years of hunting Tightrope have turned up nothing - he's a ghost. But now a nearby family has just been slaughtered in much the same way her family was. Is Tightrope back? Eve believes he is, and so does Special Agent Parker - the agent on the scene when Eve's family was killed. Everyone lives in fear, waiting for the next attack.

Eve receives a cryptic message from Tightrope ... he claims he didn't kill that family - it was a copycat. He gives Eve a string of clues to find the copycat, but he also promises that each clue will bring her closer to him, and closer to the truth about what happened to her sister.

Follow Eve Townsend as she navigates the dark and twisted world of Tightrope, chasing clues that lead down a labyrinth of horror to a shocking end.

Very creepy

But the heroine annoyed me so much. She just waded in to places she shouldn't have gone, she was careless and just was stupid. She was at two crime scenes and she could have been a suspect. Plus unanswered clues are still out there. Like the rabbit and some other stuff. Now I have to wait until the next book comes out. It was very twisted for sure. Very gory and very evil but I loved it. I took away one star because the heroine was an idiot. I hate when people do something stupid. I understand she wants to find the guy that killed her family. But show some restraint and common sense.

From the blurb this sounded right up my street and whilst it wasn't on a Chris Carter level it was still a pretty gruesome and intriguing read. I liked the plot which was well executed, but there is no definitive ending as it will lead onto the second book. Did I like Eve? Yes. Was she a bit too good to be true? Definitely. You do have to suspend a certain amount of belief, but having said that this is a really good, addictive read. A thrilling cat and mouse storyline with plenty of thrills and on to the next book to see where Tightrope takes us!

Brought the review down a star -- was annoyed with Eve. Too much of a busy body, stepping on the toes of police officers and meddling into police business. Otherwise, enjoyed the read.

Interesting premise thats not so tight

Overall this was a pretty decent book. Plenty of mystery surrounds the death of Eve's family and her sister getting kidnapped. Tightrope is portrayed as this near supernatural being who can be anywhere and get anyone. There's some things that get mentioned but never fully explained in this book, some of which will get answered in the next installment, but others are completely skipped over. Bonner's mother apparently helped him or was a serial killer herself, but that's never fully explained. Bonner's ritual is also not fully explained as to why he switched things up. A secondary characters is suspected of working with the copycat, but is murdered before it can be revealed if he knew more. Apparently Tightrope is suspected of doing it, but completely disregards his usual MO. It's never explained why the copycat decided to start his murders when he did. The North Star group is clearly a national group of serial killers or people who control them, but not much is given away. There's some editing mistakes that were simple to fix. It wasn't the best written book, but it had the bones of a good story. Hopefully the next one gets better

Eve Townsend has been hunting for The Tightrope killer now for 10 years. The serial killer, Tightrope broke into their home, killed her mother, father and brother. Her younger sister, Maddie, was taken by him and she was left.

Her father had a business which left Eve at age 17 with the family's fortune. She went to college, wanted to become an FBI agent to find Tightrope, but when she applied, they declined her due to the experience with a serial killer, as they thought she would not be able to handle the cases. Eve hires the best and learns martial arts, every skill she needs to be able to hunt him down herself.

Now Eve receives an email from Tightrope. It seems that another family has been killed, much like his killings, but he tells Eve he didn't do it and leaves her clues as to who did. Eve, with the help from the Special Agent, Parker, that was on the scene those years ago investigating Tightrope, contacts him to see if she can get any information on the lastest killings. She is going after Tightrope, find Maddie and kill him!

This is a really great thriller..On to the next one!!

One night I was just doing a book search on Amazon and found Tightrope: Eve Townsend. It was like the stars aligned and led me to this AMAZING read! If work did not get in the way of my reading, this book would have been finished in a day. I could not and did not want to put this book down. The wonderful thing is there is a book 2!! I found this at the perfect time because the second book just came out on 11/08. 😊

There was not one page I was not teetering on the edge of my bed. It is a constant thrill ride. It has all the chills up your spine, hair standing on end, and heart beating faster and faster. You do not know who will be hunted next - Stalked like a cat toying with its prey.

If you like Silence or the lambs, then this book is for you! It is easily one of the best (top 3) books I’ve read this year! Run and get a copy! It’s on KU as well! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Happy reading, y’all! 📚❤️📚

WOW! I love how this plays out like a cat-and-mouse game combined with the board game Clue. You are led down a twisted path with hopes of a happy ending…but spoiler alert this is book 1 of 3! The crime scenes are graphic so be warned. The concept behind this crime is very interesting. I was anxiously waiting to find out if Tightrope would connect with Eve. I’m invested now to find out about Maddie’s story and where Tightrope leads Eve. I thought the book was well laid out with the timeline and character development. Mark does a great job with descriptive writing to paint a full picture. This book was SO twisted and creepy! A very easy read that kept me wanting more! Definitely a Mark Lukens fan.

Well again as always he never fails me, he writes like he is the main character, and has me turning pages faster than I realize I am. And before I know it I’m done. Now you may have noticed it took me longer than usual to read this, it’s because I wanted to savor the flavor, which you can’t do while reading fast. He is one of thee best writers right up there with McCammon, and Shea and Janz and parent. Where was he when I was growing up man, all I had was king. He is an Author among writers. He has me hooked like a carp. And I’m not about to let him reel me in yet. Thank you Mark for keeping this old Army vet entertained.

Not what I normally read but boy am I glad I did. Talk about speed read. Wow. Apart from needing a good editing this is a very good book. I found it very hard to put down. Now this tome isn't for the faint hearted and can be quite brutal at times as the murders pile up. At 3.30am this morning I had to put it down and turn my bedside light out or I'd have never gone to sleep till it was finished. I'd give it more stars If I was allowed.

Tightrope Review

10/10…. Speechless this was an absolutely amazing book. Left me wanting more. I felt like I was apart of the story. I felt like I was also a detective trying to figure out who this tightrope person was…. I am sad that it left on a cliffhanger. But, I will be diving into that second book very soon.

Really enjoyed this. Though I hope it is concluded quickly and not kept going until it becomes tedious
