They were mortal enemies in high school, but when fate brings them back together years later, passion flares.
Billionaire Zelda Eldrich loves to play with the new submissives at Club Surrender, an exclusive women-only BDSM club. She has a reputation as a tough but caring domme who never gets personally involved with her subs. Until Mariah comes in for “newbies night”.
Mariah Collins has been dreaming about experiencing her first spanking for years. She’s thrilled to score an invitation to visit the “light BDSM” club, but she never expected to run into the woman who she’d tortured all through high school. Back then the bisexual had been confused about her attraction to Zelda, but there’s no confusion now. She wants to make a life with the sexy dominatrix…if only Zelda would talk to her.
Punishment turns to love, but when a misunderstanding threatens to turn the two women back into enemies, Zelda’s going to need to pull out all the stops to show Mariah that she wants forever.
Hated is book two in the Surrender Club instalove lesbian romance series. Each book is a fun and steamy standalone with matchmaking dommes, loving relationships, and a sweet happily ever after.

Super quick and sexy insta love story! This time it’s a more enemies to lovers where one was bullied by the other in high school. Can they move on from the past? Can you fall in love with your bully? Most people change as they grow up. I am enjoying this series, so far they are quick reads, steamy and also with a nice little plot.
One thing we learned in life is that you never know why someone does something especially bullies. The one being bullied can carry that hurt and humiliation for the rest of their lives. Or in this book the bully went to therapy as she got older and realized exactly what she did to innocent children and the why. Mariah sees Zelda in Club Surrender and knows she has to apologize for what she put Zelda through when they were kids. Realizing her sexuality and also that she might have been in love with Zelda then, not realizing it and causing Zelda more trouble than she deserved. Can Mariah find forgiveness from Zelda so they can move on? This was a really good storyline and how it works out was written well.
These short steamy novels, are my favorite these days. So well written and focused on the MC's side to their story. Just a pity its short coz more 🔥 moments could be added. A 5🌟 all the way. Fantastic series for anytime reading.
A quick read. Forgiveness can lead to road of opportunities of finding the one. Human emotions can be tricky especially as a child figuring out who you are. Forgiving someone that might be the one for you can lead to your HEA.
Once again, close to being a great short-ish story; I just have a couple reservations. As with the previous story in the series, I thought the characters were great. I felt like they had distinct issues and personalities, which doesn’t always come through well in a short story. And the story managed to visit a couple of places so it wasn’t entirely set in one location. Both elements in its favor.
Still, like the previous story, I felt like it was unnecessarily rushed. Zelda forgave Mariah way too easily… obviously it couldn’t be dragged out for weeks, but it seems like maybe she could have nursed her grudge for at least their first hour together? Her actions were consistent with that, she just never really ties actions and feelings together in her mind, so it seems like the feelings are just gone. Then the second time they spend time together goes way differently, which I was OK with — good chemistry, inexplicable attraction, fine. But the third time they talk they’re at the “I want you to be my wife and the mother of our children” stage. Which… is a step too far. I needed a time skip or epilogue or something to sell that.
So, here’s the deal. I like these stories enough to keep reading them. But they’re not going to be my favorites, because the instalove is just too insta for me.
This was enjoyable, yet short and simple. 3.5 stars but I was forced to round of course; could have gone either way.
It is exactly what it was advertised as so I feel bad giving it a lower rating but it just didn’t have a lot of reasons to rate it higher. It was a nice little story with characters that got a surprising amount of backstory, but it was also INSTAlove with zero substance. The story packed in a surprising number of scenes and events, but they were all very surface-level and undeveloped. There were some spicy bits that were great, but at the same time it wasn’t enough of the novella to categorize it as straight-up-smut and judge it accordingly. This novella did a lot of things decently, but nothing overly well.
This was good. I would definitely say its worth the read. It won’t be something that changes your life or that you think back on after the fact. This would make an excellent first draft of something that is going to be expanded into a full-length novel, as that would give the book enough time to truly dig into the elements that it set up.
Stars: 2.5 Format: Digital Series: Surrender Club Book 2 Steam Level: Steamy
I read this for the I Heart Sapphic 2025 Reading Challenge for the prompt Kink.
I love this trope. It’s book catnip but it feels like it should be longer to really get on board with how things evolved between them.
Quick Thoughts: - There are narrative spots that are just info dumping instead of letting the reader learn/figure things out - This has an ugly duckling turned into a swan narrative that’s fun - The BDSM scenes were sexy as heck - Kinda quick how they reconcile Mariah’s past bad actions - The third act break up felt a tiny bit contrived but was still great - Enjoyed the epilogue. It was cute and delightful
Overall this has the bones to be a delightful story, it just feels like that this was a more detailed outline of a bigger story. I enjoyed it though and will pick up more of this series. It’s great for scratching a trope itch quickly.
4 stars. This was so much better than the first in this series for me. Zelda and Mariah knew each other in high school and Mariah used to bully Zelda. Now Zelda is Mariah’s Domme. Loved it. Great dynamics between them and it was seriously hot. The ending was lovely as well.
Hated: A Lesbian Romance (Club Surrender Book 2) by Reba Bale Enemies to lovers, It is a standard HEA. It works with a tad of BDSM tossed in to make it saucy. A red bottom is always a lovely thing. I will over time read the rest of this series.
I'm pretty sure if this was maybe double the length a lot of the issues in it would have been fixed. However, be so real with me, you aren't reading this solely for the plot. That's all.
