Sword of the Feara

Rate this book
The kingdom of Skara is failing, and its people, the Feara, have lost their way. In a land of swords and sorcery, Hale Gildeen is a master of neither. Drunk as often as not, the disinherited nobleman was never anyone's idea of a hero; but when he is enlisted to help rescue three peasant girls from a witch, he uncovers a secret that could reverse the fortunes of a dying kingdom. Pursued by a relentless tyrant, he finds himself in a race against time as a dark power rises from the past to eradicate his people from the land. With the odds mounting against him, the reluctant hero must rely on his wits to keep hope alive and earn the title Sword of the Feara.

This epic adventure is the first in a series set in a high fantasy world of wizards and knights, dragons and trolls, and armies and gods of good and evil battling for supremacy.

Sword of the Feara is a gripping and immersive entry into the world of high fantasy. Dan Kretzer crafts a richly detailed realm where flawed heroes rise and ancient secrets shape the fate of kingdoms. Hale Gildeen, the reluctant protagonist, is far from a classic hero—and that’s exactly what makes his journey so compelling. The novel balances action, humour, and heart, with enough mystery and danger to keep you turning the pages. With its vivid world-building, surprising twists, and an underdog worth rooting for, this book sets the stage for an epic saga. A must-read for fans of character-driven fantasy adventures.

I read this book and it was very well written and I enjoyed it and look forward the the maturing and continuing growth of the main Character Hale. This book is appropriate for young people as well as older ones and once I got into it I could not put it down. Had me laughing and on more than a few occasions very emotional charged and tearing up.

Great book! Look forward to the next in the series.
