This is not very helpful for me as it is mostly basic common sense stuff which I read years ago and I didn't need a review. If you just got type 2 this might have some helpful hints but it for the most part stuff you already know.
This book offers comprehensive information about diabetes. It may seem at times repetitive and maybe the parts about medication could all he united in a single chapter. More human input would also make the reading more appealing. But the information is good and I did learn a few things about a disease that I myself suffer, and which contributed to my suffering a heart attack.
Unfortunately, this was so bad. I can't deny there is some useful information about diabetes and what it actually is, but I don't need to be told the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 in every chapter - just tell me once. Also, as this is written by an American writer, some of the information isn't appropriate for me - i.e. diabetic readings, as we measure the figures differently in England, and we also have access to free health care so the cost of insulin isn't a factor for us to consider.
This is a great book for diabetics. One thing that I really like about it is the positive voice the author uses. It feels encouraging and reassuring. I found some things in this one that I have not found in other diabetic books, such as how some common medications interact with diabetes.
Overall, it's a helpful book for any diabetic who needs to take charge of their health.
This book is easy to read, but at the same time, it describes the many aspects of diabetes thoroughly. It can be a good recommended reading for people with diabetes. It would also be a good educational resource for their families and friends. Even some healthcare professionals might benefit reading this book or using it as their guidebook to remind them of the complex nature of diabetes.
When I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes my doctor left a message and sent me a bottle of metforin. I bought a blood tester and read those instructions. I still had many questions. This book answered about 90% of my questions. (98.5% of the important ones were answered.) I recommend this.
I have had pre-diabetes for years. A year or two ago I was diagnosed as diabetic. This year I started to have embarrassing symptoms, and I finally went to my doctor. This book is the first one I have read since I got my updated diagnosis. I wish I had read it years ago. I recommend you do so as soon as you hear the D word.
To be honest there’s a lot to take in with this book. Exercise seems to be crucial in controlling blood sugars and monitoring food and drink intake. I almost had to laugh when I saw the admonitions against smoking; since I gave up smoking over five years ago I’ve never had as many health problems including a diagnosis of diabetes 2.
it's an insightful, well-researched guide for about type 2 diabetes. It's easy-to-follow and has step-by-step techniques to navigate lifestyle changes and medication. it's a valuable resource for those with type 2 diabetes
This book was very thorough. I learned more about hypoglycemia, and medications. I've been a diabetic over a decade & just needed the basics and I got more.
Clear concise information in PLAIN ENGLISH. Not bogged down by overwhelming technical and scientific jargon. Easy to understand and lots of good insight. Definitely a keeper.
