It’s been two months since the body of the Dark Prince vanished in the clawed grip of a demon lord. With no further sign of trouble, the Hush is back to business as usual. And Syren, heir to the vampire throne, is up to her old tricks—or so it seems.
When Kyr and Ronan track her down at a nightclub, Ronan isn’t surprised to see the spoiled princess backsliding into her party-girl ways, but he is surprised (and not happy) to get tasked with babysitting her. Syren isn’t happy either—because she has a reason to be spending her nights in the clubs … and it’s not to party.
But Syren isn’t the only one with secrets. Ronan is desperate to keep a lock on his. Because the weird crap that starts happening to his mind as his treatments begin to fail? Even a tough-as-hell male like Ronan can’t quite face that. At least … not alone.
As he and Syren start to uncover each other’s truths, their discoveries form a bond neither of them expected. But will it be enough to bind them together when Ronan’s most dangerous secrets threaten to tear everything apart?
As the battle between demons and vampires reaches its peak, Ronan’s past gets dragged into the present, new realities emerge—and nothing will ever be the same again.
Katherine Diane loves intense, complex heroes and fascinating worlds. She likes her romances a little dark, a little raw, and suffused with erotic realism.
I’m so sad that this is the final book in the VDA series!! I really enjoyed the romance between Syren and Ronan but I feel like there are some loose ends that still need to be cleaned up/ explained… first of all, the fact that Syren sent her mother away wasn’t even discussed after the big battle, there was not one conversation between her and her brother about that… what becomes of Amarada? Are all of the horrible things she did ever exposed? Who now rules over the vampires? Secondly, what exactly IS Ronan?… is he even still a vampire or part vampire because he didn’t once feed from Syren, that again, was never explained. What happens with Rhys’ recovery?.. he didn’t want to keep talking to Mira but the dude is still so messed up. I was also really really hoping that Jodari would eventually get his own book, he was their boss and it was always mentioned how he used to be a warrior like the guys but we never really got his backstory and he never gets his own HEA like the other guys… that’s so not fair. Hopefully KD will decide to write more for this series someday because I would love to have my questions answered and I would just flat out love to have more VDA!!
Well! I think I get why some had issues with this last book. I read some comments about unfinished business, for example the ending with the Queen. I think the issue is not so much unfinished business but the fact that 5 books is not enough. I really want more books! So many many more books!
I so enjoyed this series and this last books was so full of action and lots of twist and turns and different points of views from all the couples and I love when authors are able to joggle all the characters. Ronan was fantastic and he got the ending he so deserved and I was so happy to see Syren become a better person.
I understand there are only so many pages but I hope inspirations strikes Ms. Diane and she is able to bring us back to this world in the future. I would love to see Jodari and Ana get their happy ending (maybe together?? LOL); see where Ronan power goes; does Syren becomes the Queen I think she can be; Amarada get the death she deserved and could there be a baby among the HUSH (Mira & Kyr or Nox and Claire). Also visiting again with Rhys and Wes would be lovely.
For now I'm just glad I took that Kindle unlimited membership for one month it was worth every penny after reading this series.
I was pleasantly surprised that there was a story and plot. It was good....drama, suspense, intrigue, cameos, romance, and of course violence. The emotions...anger, crying, hatred, and betrayal! Whew!!! Family, though most were non related.... it's the family you chose. Rhys and Wes had more conversations instead of just humping each other. Everybody was involved... the fight scene of Ronan and Kaderos? would make a great movie scene (at least that's how I saw it as I was reading - the effects!) As Nox and Ronan were my favorite of the series, I was happy to see them have peace with partners or mates. I dreaded reading book 5 after the others, but this was good, and I thoroughly enjoyed the quick read. Or maybe I read it quickly because it was good!! Brava!!
Unique concept with interesting plot line. I could see this as a developed TV Series like Shadowhunters. It certainly has the potential. Tight pacing with active arcs with each book in the series. I wish, for me, the love interests had been a bit more connective as partners. The plot and pacing are strong but the relationship parings need more intensity. If not in dialogue then in showing us how deeply they care for each other outside the bedroom screens. Overall 4 ⭐️read if you enjoy action when fast paced plots.
This series was good, but it was just a bit too similar to the Black Dagger Brotherhood books. There were so many things that were the same with just a different name.
I’m not sure if this is the last book, but I hope she writes more! It was so engrossing that I didn’t realize the time until I looked at the clock and it was 4am.
