Nana "Hachi" Komatsu hopes that moving to Tokyo will help her make a clean start and leave her capricious love life behind her. Nana Osaki, who arrives in the city at the same time, has plans to score big in the world of rock'n'roll. Although these two young women come from different backgrounds, they quickly become best friends in a whirlwind world of sex, music, fashion, gossip and all-night parties!

Being engaged isn't as wonderful as Hachi thought it would be. She has a trendy new apartment, but she's isolated from all her friends and Takumi is hardly ever home. When scandal hits hard, Trapnest (and her fiancé) flee to Europe, and Hachi is left to watch Blast suffer in the scandal rags and tabloid shows.

About the author

Ai Yazawa (Japanese: 矢沢あい, Yazawa Ai) is a Japanese manga author and illustrator. Her pen name comes from singer Eikichi Yazawa, of whom she is a fan.
Yazawa started her comics career in 1985. She specialises in shojo manga (girls' comics). Most of her works have been serialised in the magazines 'Ribon', 'Cookie' and 'Zipper'.
Yazawa's stories focus on young, often rebellious women and their relationships. The characters are always very stylish, and Yazawa herself is known for her sense of fashion. (She even attended a fashion school for some time after high school.)
Among her most famous manga are Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai (I'm No Angel, 1992–1995), Neighborhood Story (1995-1998), Paradise Kiss (1999-2004), and Nana (2000-2009), the latter awarded a Shogakukan Manga Award in 2003. Some of these works have been adapted into anime and live action movies.

I AM IN LOVE WITH SHIN. Such maturity from a 16-year-old, yet I don't want to break his heart—been he's through so much already. The bond between Shin and Hachis is priceless since they are so alike.

The driving force behind my love for these books is the relationship between Nana and Hachi. I've been focusing on that for a while, so I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the plot developments in this volume. The drama and tensions with both bands were great, and I really do like all of the characters' sprawling relationships. I still want a bit more with Nana and Hachi, but I can wait.

The one part that disappointed me a bit was a revelation about Yasu - and he's a favorite character of mine. He's so cool. I didn't like that he was in love with Nana - one of the main things I liked so much about him was that he wasn't really involved in all of the ongoing relationship drama with everyone else. But hey, at least he's not being dramatic about this. He's just in love with her and knows it's not requited. Which is fine, I guess, but I prefer when I just saw Yasu as a protective older brother to Nana.

4/5 stars - onto volume 11!

ughhh, i wish nana & hachi could be together again !! takumi infuriates me so much, i rlly hope nana k leaves him but i don’t think that will happen tbh so hopefully we at least get a break from him soon. poor nobu too, he misses nana k sm its so sad !!

i wish we saw more of blast in this book, it seems more focused on trapnest and idrc about any of them tbh lmao

I was dreading the whole "celebrity/rock stars drama" part of this manga. I'm not intrigued by it now, but the messy relationships and hwo they get more complicated and entangled with each volume is really juicy. like reading gossip coloumns.

takumi est un connard fini mais être enfin arrivée au moment où blast éclôt ! bien que ce soit d’une manière approximative c’est vrm fascinant, je me lasserai jamais du sujet, de l’idée du manga lui-même, tellement bien pensé pr l’époque.
