Marked By The Devil

Nicole

He's the Devil.
He's like a dangerous rush of ecstasy.
And when he forces me to go with him on the run, I have no choice but to follow.
Where he goes death follows.
Where he goes pain follows.
The more time we spend together, the more I have to remind myself that he's not like the rest of us.
He is the Devil after all.

One of the most emotional books EVER!!!

Let me start off saying this book is dark dark DARK! Adhere to ALL trigger warnings. This book is NOT for everyone so please don't start or read this book and then bash in your review! Its not fair to those of us who appreciate a book and the intended context.

This book is a work of fiction and although I don't condone the actions of the main male character in "real life", Croft did an AMAZING JOB writing this story! The story is beautifully written, character development is spot on, and although I'm not excited about HEAs, this one is EPIC!

The final 25% of the book is very emotional. I cried more today reading this book than I cried in months!

If you are a fan of dark and taboo (wide range covering this genre, so no judgement), then add this book to your tbr and thank me later!

Enjoy!

Read like a poorly written wattpad story.
Dnf around 50% mark.
The level of darkness has nothing to do with my low rating. The 1st chapter started and ended with the fmc complaining. When the mmc punched her in the face, knocking her out, it actually made me smile. Because I was over her character, she sucked. She was annoying-af, with never-ending ramblings & whining. I agree with Hunter in chapter 4, yelling at her to "Shut the fuck up!"
Side note:
Calling your horn a "hooter" is just weird

Genre: Dark Romance
Type: Standalone novella
POV: First Person - Female
Rating:

Nicole Foster never thought her routine commute to work would be different from any other day. But criminal Hunter Madden had another plan, whether she liked it or not.

This book had an interesting premise, but the execution fell short. I don’t normally notice editing issues, but this book had too many to ignore. I liked the characters to a certain degree, but would have preferred more depth.

‘You see Nicole, I can give you both pleasure and pain.’ I stared at him helplessly and he smiled, ‘I fucking own you.’

Marked by the Devil is a story of rewriting one’s life. It might appeal to readers who enjoy a dark captive romance novella.

🔥😈🔥. . . (F)BR with Twinsie CC . . .🔥😈🔥

When Nicole is taken captive by an escaped convict, all she has known irrevocably changes.

“I have done all the things that I said I wouldn’t, and I should have let you go a long time ago.”

Being a novella, I expected a quick pace; however, the transitions and character arcs needed more development in order to fully serve the plot. Without, the events lost impact and the path chosen by the characters seemed rushed and lacked a foundation.

so, I'm not going to say that I didn't like it because I really liked it, the idea of the book itself is very bad but I think the ending saved the book.

if it’s not Stockholm Syndrome…

Crap! The beginning of this book made me gasp for air and almost left me choking. It’s hard to read about things that go against social norms. I didn’t read the book summary but I did read a review on Goodreads about this book being dark. I was prepared but not beginning of the book prepared when the main characters encountered each other.

This book is written beautifully that the MMC while not redeemed becomes tolerable for me. Not for the FMC though, the girl was in love.

This book is dark because it makes us question our morals. How did I enjoy this book yet don’t approve of the actions of the characters? I think that because we’re multifaceted, when we see something we don’t like, we justify the means by another angle so we can tolerate it. That’s this book in a nutshell.

Escaped convict (yay)
Morally grey (very dark shade)
Stockholm syndrome (he punched her in the face and repeatedly raped her ffs)
It wasn't the greatest writing as it needed a heavy edit and proofread. There were a lot of typos and odd use of words in the copy I read.

An escaped convict takes a hostage along for the ride...what's not to love?

I've taken a star away due to this book needing some serious editing. The mistakes weren't enough to put me off reading it though 😊

While the storyline was quite good, the book lacked editing. I would have rated this much higher had the author read through it before publishing it.
