The Deep End #1

In Too Deep

Rate this book
Quinn Hampton can hardly believe his eyes when he sees his former lover, Dash Thatcher, buying beer at the Quick Pik in their quiet little hometown of Lost Lake, Tennessee. It’s been three years since they last saw each other at high school graduation, but it doesn’t take long for the two to catch up. A few beers lead to an invitation to spend the night at Quinn’s family lake house while it’s being restored for the summer. The two wake the next morning and eagerly make up for lost time, naked and writhing in each other’s arms.

But Quinn and Dash aren’t the only two ex-lovers reuniting this summer. As they saunter into Brickhouse Brewery for a little hair of the dog the next morning, the two run into Haley Newcomb, former classmate and, unbeknownst to the men, each one’s former lover.

As the day unfolds, secrets are revealed, old flames are reunited and Quinn, Dash, and Haley must confront the 600-lb gorilla in the room -- their longing for one another and how right it feels to share. At the same time. Together. And, once the idea of a threesome is finally spoken aloud, it’s not long before the ex-lovers are reunited in more ways than one. In more positions than one. As often as they can, for as long as they can. Now all they need to know is if they want this reunion to last.

If you are familiar with reading a book and wondering when you'll get to the good part, or the happily ever after part, then you may appreciate this book as that's all it includes.

In Too Deep starts right where the synopsis says with Quinn and Dash waking up in bed together. The next day they run into Haley and by that night they are living out their fantasies together. Yes, you get small glimpses into each of their heads and thought processes, a little of their histories, but ultimately this is a quick read erotica with a happily ever after...or so it leaves you to believe that it will be.

Dash was the quiet kid in school that tried to disappear into the background. Quinn was the jock who overly flirted with every girl except the one he was actually sneaking into his room at night, to cover up his attraction to Dash. Haley was a Ms. Perfect on the outside, but she was the one sneaking into Quinn's room and the one who had a one-night stand with Dash. What she learned was that Dash and Quinn were lovers, but although she saw firsthand, she never told anyone what she had seen or that she had wanted to join them. Three years after graduation, with all three of them back in town together, they quickly discover they all had the same fantasy and neither of guys had known the other had been with Haley. It had always been the three of them, they just didn't know it.

Together the three of them are happy and willing to see where things go because you can't just walk away from love.

"It's nobody's fault. It's just...I've loved you both so long, separately. Now I have to learn to love you both...together."

Honestly, it should be labeled as a quick read erotica that way you know exactly what you are in store for. Lots of sex and not much storyline. The fact that it was labeled as any kind of romance just leaves it sorely lacking.

I enjoyed this book!

This is the first book I've read by Alex Winters and it was a great introduction to his writing. The story is hot as fire but it's also very touching as three friends reconnect with each other. The blurb pretty much says it all. Three friends who secretly have wanted each other and are now getting to experience something they never thought they could have.

I have just one complaint – and I had to ding the book one star – the ending was too abrupt. It had the kind of HFN ending that really bugs me as I always want more. The main story was great and I liked the author's writing but this story really needed an epilogue.

A copy of this book was provided to me at my request and my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

This was a fun and steamy second chance romance. Haley, Quinn and Dash, unbeknownst to each other, have all had a relationship back in high school - Quinn and Dash, Quinn and Haley, and Dash and Haley. This summer brings the three of them back into each other's sphere and things sure heat up ;) However, they had to work through their feelings and what they each wanted in order to move forward as a thruple. I enjoyed seeing their romance unfold and look forward to what's next by this author :D

Two guys who have not seen one another for three years. Two guys and one girl who have not seen one another for three years.

Two guys who hooked up in High School.

One girl both guys hooked up with in High School.

Some secrets.

This story is brilliant. It explores relationships in an incredibly unique way. It is sensitive, at times almost heartbreaking but above all it is beautiful. There is no cheating but there is jealousy as each of the characters learns to understand their feelings towards one another. Yes this is an erotic short story and no there isn't what many people would consider to be a plot but take your time with this one. It deserves a lazy read, that way you can really understand it, understand what Quinn, Dash and Haley mean to one another and get to that place with them one sultry summer.
