This is a dual pov hockey sports romance following Cam and Athena also known as ATs

In Athena’s life, Jackson’s family means more than she realizes. As an FBI Agent, she’s been missing a crucial piece of herself for over ten years. To her, the Jacksons are the loving, overprotective family she’s always craved. It’s amazing how moving to a new city and working on a case to seek justice for a friend can open her heart—especially with a little help from nature, like the rain and a washed-out bridge!

On the flip side, Cam is having a tough time. His hockey game is derailed by some challenging news, and his champion spirit is feeling heavy. After a rough game, he finds solace in the gentle guidance of Athena, the woman he’s admired from a distance—and who has a complicated connection to his brother.

I love how Cam and Athena’s relationship evolves! Their journey, though filled with hurdles, brings genuine healing and understanding. isn’t it wonderful to see how love can help mend our broken pieces?

Elise Faber had me in emotional knots with Knotted Laces, the second book in her Eagles Hockey series! This story is a whirlwind of emotions, with a gripping suspense element that adds an unexpected depth to an already captivating romance. FBI agent Athena, or Attie, is a tough but vulnerable heroine that Faber masterfully brings to life. After working alongside Cam’s brother for over nine years, Attie has become part of the family, though she’s unaware that Cam has been harboring feelings for her all along, mistakenly believing she’s in love with his brother.

Now, with Attie relocating to Cam’s hometown to work on a case, their chemistry and attraction ignite, but complications run deep. Cam is struggling with a secret that’s affecting his game, and a coach who seems determined to bring him down. The tension is palpable both on and off the ice, with emotions running high as Cam and Attie navigate their complicated feelings while danger lurks in her investigation. Knotted Laces delivers a perfect blend of romance, suspense, and raw emotion, making this a must-read for fans of hockey romances with depth and heart.

I love an MFC who is tough but vulnerable and an MMC who is tough but vulnerable, and they have to find their way to each other without breaking their own hearts. Athena has a job that is challenging and which comes with great risk, as well as carting around a trunkful of issues from her past. Cam is just a gorgeous, hard-working man whose ice skating career means so much, but for whom family means more. He is struggling, and the time has come for these two to start their true journey to each other.
This book has so much going on! It is plot rich as well as filled with well drawn characters who jump from the page and gain a place in your heart. Great to see King Bang in there two, leading his best life!! It is a book which I found impossible to put down, and I can't wait for Hudson's story!! Fabulous 💖💖💖💖💖

Hockey with a bit of suspense, tough FMC, found family, unrequited love... supposedly, and we can't forget the hot spice!

This is not the first book in the series but it can be read as a complete stand alone. Though you will have met the team and some characters before so I think you just get a bit more out of it, but everything you need to know will be given to you.

It was love at first sight for Cam when it came to Athena. He thought that she was in love with one of his brothers best friend. Who he also thought of as one of his brothers. She however didn’t. It took Athena years to not only fall for Cam, but to see him for more than she thought he was.

Knotted Laces by Elise Faber is an emotional and addictive addition to the Eagles Hockey series that has everything a fan of sports romance could ask for! This is a dual POV story that follows Cam, a hockey player navigating some dark personal challenges, and Athena (aka Ats), an FBI agent with a broken past. They’ve known each other for years through Cam’s big, loving (and meddling) family, but circumstances always kept them apart. Cam has harbored feelings for Athena, convinced she only had eyes for his brother. Athena, meanwhile, had no idea he felt that way—and she’s always been guarded, hiding her struggles behind her work.

Their dynamic changes completely after a chance encounter during a storm leaves them stranded together at a cabin. With only each other to rely on, their chemistry explodes, igniting long-buried feelings. As they share their vulnerabilities and open up about the pain they've carried, they begin a journey of healing and connection that’s as fiery as it is tender. But it’s not all smooth sailing—Cam’s self-doubt, a ruthless coach, and the complications of Athena’s investigation create a web of challenges that test their newfound bond.

Elise Faber masterfully weaves humor, suspense, and raw emotion throughout the story, and her talent for character depth shines. The witty banter, electric chemistry, and powerful quiet moments between Cam and Athena make this story hard to put down. The supporting cast, including Cookie the cat, adds warmth and charm, creating a found family that grounds the story beautifully.

This book is a fantastic blend of suspense, romance, and heart, reminding readers of the power of love and resilience. If you enjoy romance with emotional depth and a touch of suspense, Knotted Laces is an absolute must-read. Highly recommended!

Where do I start? This book was AWESOME!!! Elise was able to put all the words together in a page turning, can’t put it down until I’m finished book that touches on multiple subjects that are not always talked about. This is the second book in the Eagles Hockey series but you can read it as a stand-alone. Make sure you add it to your list to read.

The heroine Athena Phillips is a kick butt FBI agent who went through so much growing up and unfortunately still must deal with it. One case put her slightly over the edge and to get over that, along with finally finding an end to it she will need to move to the west coast. What she wasn’t expecting was that one link in the case might be tied to her former partner Lex’s younger brother hockey team

Cam Jackson has it all, playing professional NHL hockey for a great team and having this amazing family that includes some adopted siblings. But right now, Cam is dealing with issues both on and off the ice, a horrible coach that constantly belittles him, life altering news and having a crush on a woman who he believes is in love with his brother Lex.

The two of them are holding things back and all it takes is one weekend trapped in a remote cabin and a bottle of whiskey for all the secrets to come out. Including the connection Cam and Ats have with each other. Will they be able to work through it all and realize that together they can conquer not only their own problems but other ones that affecting a lot more people.

I am very grateful to have received an ARC from 1852 Media and Elise Faber for my honest opinion.

Must read romance

Every book Elise Faber delivers is a MUST READ, and KNOTTED LACES, Eagles Hockey book #2, was no different. It was a fun, entertaining read with wonderful characters, an array of emotions, and an unforgettable romance. Unputdownable, I devoured it in one relaxing session.

Hockey player Cam Jackson has loved the same woman for ten years, but he's never let her know thinking she was in love with his older brother. Due to work commitments, Athena Phillips is now living in the same city as Cam, she's always liked him but never thought of him in a romantic way. A torrential storm, an isolated cabin, and one bed are about to change everything. Cam and Athena are both broken emotionally because of their pasts, but their time together begins to heal their hearts. The chemistry between them is electric, their banter is amazing, their heat is volcanic, but it was the quiet moments, the deepness of their connection, their emotions that brought them closer together. Will Cam be able to capture the woman who has always held his heart?

KNOTTED LACES was simple superb, Elise Faber knows exactly the type of story her readers love to read. Her humour, angst, romance, suspense, steam, and wonderful characters made this story addictive and captivating. I must mention Cookie, the cat, I want him as a pet, he's such a cutie. I couldn't get enough of this story, I became heavily invested in Cam and Athena's story, they were perfect for each other. I cannot recommend this story highly enough.

This talented storyteller is one whose work is new to me, and I’m 100% invested after reading Cam and Athena's story. It's charming, smexy, and overflowing with enough heart to please the romance lover in all of us. And how often do you see an FBI heroine in straight-up contemporary romance?

Athena Phillips became part of the Jackson family by way of her FBI partner, Lex, who's been an honorary member of the family most of his life. Ats takes a transfer from the east coast office to the FBI's Oakland, CA, office which puts her in the orbit of the youngest Jackson and NHL great, Cam.

Cam has known Ats for ten years and has seen her periodically, during family get-togethers. But he's convinced Ats is in love with Lex, so Cam has loved her from afar all that time. When Ats does a safety check on Cam for the family and shows up at his little mountain cabin, the storm of the century strands her alone with him. Sounds like Fate is playing her hand.

Except we have two very flawed, vulnerable characters. One thinks he's undeserving and the other has a terrible upbringing that still haunts her. As Cam deals with problems with his coach, Ats is working to bring down a crime syndicate, and they’re trying to figure out the whole relationship thing in the process.

With a strong element of found family, good-natured banter, healing past hurts, and an intriguing billionaire team owner I couldn’t get enough of, this one has everything I love in a great romance read. Hypnotic, emotional, and entertaining, this sports romance is sure to please.

This second book in the Eagle Hockey series is every bit as good as the first and that makes me excited for the books to come. Athena or Ats as she prefers is am FBI agent who grew up in an unloving home, but she was lucky enough to meet Lex Jackson, her law enforcement partner, who came from a large, loving family, both found and DNA bonded. For ten years, Cam Jackson, now an NHL player has been in love with Ats, but he won't act on it because he knows Athena is in love with Lex. But now, Athena has moved to the West Coast where Cam plays in order to find the person who killed one of her colleagues. When Cam's team loses the playoffs, his coach publicly berates him which leaves Cam feeling guilty and despondent, he escapes to his cabin in the woods. When he hasn't responded to family texts, Lex asks Ats to check on Cam, to make sure he's okay. A huge storm means that Cam and Athena are stranded in the cabin, with only snacks, beer and whisky - and that leads to secrets being spilled and confessions about their own inadequacies.

Both Cam and Athena have a lot of baggage to overcome, baggage that makes them feel unloved, unlovable and unworthy. What will it take to break down these obstacles and allow themselves to open up and trust.

This is a great book, the element of suspense in Athena's case adds another dimension to this story. You can feel the love as it flows from the page, and the characters were relatable, they made you want to root for their HEA. Another winner for Ms. Faber

Knotted Laces is the second book set within the Eagles Hockey series, but really the third. Cam has loved Athena for as long as he’s known her, but is convinced that she loves his brother. Not only that, but he’s dealing with some personal issues that are starting to impact how well he plays. But when a chance evening reveals the truth, can he chip away at the ice walls surrounding her heart to take a chance on love, or will they continue to push each other away?

I really enjoyed reading this book! There was something so honest and pure that develops between Cam and Athena that you just can’t help but cheer for their happy ending, end endure the trials along the way with them. There are definitely some emotional highs and lows that this couple needs to face, between their jobs, learning to fully trust in the other, and accepting love in return, but I loved this rollercoaster ride of romance, steam, and love. Athena was so independent, so used to putting herself on the peripheral, that being engulfed in Cam’s crazy family was tough. But I loved how she shifted and changed and learned what she was willing to accept. Cam was wonderful, almost a cinnamon roll type of hero, but he had his own internal demons that he needed to battle, too. I loved them together. I loved their strengths, their acceptance, and how they made the other better. They truly made a great team! I’m already looking forward to the next book from Ms. Faber.

Another super feel good read as all Elise’s books are.

As always, Elise also tackles some tough themes through the challenges she throws at her characters, and that is why I love her books so much. It was also great to meet again a whole cast of characters from previous books and series.

Athena ( Ats as she prefers to be called) comes from a broken family with awful parents. Although she’s been embraced into fold of the big loving Jackson family (of the “Life sucks” series), she is still rather closed off and hiding in her work.

Cam loves his big meddling family but being the youngest has him struggling with self worth issues. On top of that he had to deal with an awful coach, and life altering news following an injury so he doesn’t really feel ready to share his burden with anyone.

He’s been in love with Athena for years but kept his distance as he thinks she’s wants his adoptive brother.

As a flood has them trapped together in a remote cabin, they end up uncovering their mutual attraction and falling (even more ) in love.

Alas this is just the start of their journey and challenges and it is a heart warming read getting to see their love grows despite all their struggles.

I have received an ARC and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Eagles Hockey series has me completely addicted and eager for each new release.

I’m enjoying getting to know the Eagles players and expanding the cast with each new book. Cam and Athena are two relatable characters that each grabbed my heartstrings. Cam is dealing with an issue that is revealed several chapters in and it’s something that has really knocked him emotionally and he’s keeping it a secret and until he tells Athena, he hasn’t talked about it with anyone. I love how she listens to him and offers up her own vulnerability on something that has a huge impact on her emotionally.

Some new favorite characters make appearances and add to the story. Jean Michael (Eagles’ owner and Chrissy’s Dad) is an intriguing silver fox which has me so excited for his book. Discovering Cam is one of the Jackson brothers from the Life Sucks series was exciting.

I love that Elise writes such a variety of characters even though most of her books are centered around professional hockey, her male characters are all unique and the women they love are from an assortment of backgrounds and walks of life.

I received a free ARC from the author and 1852 Media; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Short and sweet. In my opinion, much stronger writing overall than the first book in the series. I loved the way male infertility was handled and I felt genuinely devastated for Cam as he grappled with his new reality. If you liked the Brooklyn Bruisers series by Sarina Bowen, the FBI/organized crime plot reminded me a lot of Hard Hitter.

Some things that made me scratch my head:
- Recycling the name Athena for the FMC of this book when it was the name of the MMC's dog in the previous book
- Why on Earth is Kingston and Rory's book not book two of this series? The author totally teed them up for the next book and I missed that it had been released last summer because she released it under another series entirely; that was a bummer because this book gave light spoilers for them
- A lot of editing/grammar errors in my digital copy that I didn't experience with the first book. The epilogue even begins with Attie speaking to Cam and then replying to herself instead of Cam replying, as if the epilogue was originally going to be from Cam's POV and then was changed without the author changing the narrative voice

Overall, the stronger book of this series so far, but I look forward to Hudson breaking literally every HR policy ever written in the next book!

Knotted Laces is book two in the Eagles Hockey series and it is suspense-filled, addictive, and emotional. Ms. Faber gives us a strong, independent and fierce MRFC who is an FBI agent and a professional hockey player who has a lot on his plate. The storyline is well-written and one where you can't stop reading because you need to know who is behind everything and why things are happening.
Cam has had feelings for his brother's FB agent, Athena, Ats or Attie, for a long time but always thought she loved his brother. Lex, Attie was accepted into the family when she started working for Cam. Her family life is not one of happiness and Lex's family feels like home. A freak rainstorm sees Cam and Ats having to spend days together in his cabin. A connection is there and sparks begin to ignite but only after they share their feelings and what they want. They set the sheets on fire when they crossed the friendship line. Ats was still dealing with a case that went bad and Can was dealing with a coach who seemed to have it in for him.
I loved the way they supported and helped one another.

Athena or Atty is strong stubborn and the love of Cam Jackson's life even if she dosen't know it and as a FBI Agent she's missed that little clue for over 10 years too her the Jackson's are the family she never had a hole bunch of meddling overprotective brothers and sisters so how did moving to a new city and working a case to bring justice to a friend open her eyes blame it on the rain and a washed out bridge. Cam his hockey game is off his life completely messed up all because of some news he's recently gotten so when his champion ship game ends and his coach keeps bringing him down he escapes only to be yelled at but in a nice way by the women he's loved from afar Athena the women who loves his brother or dose she.

I loved how Cam and Atty were together how there broken but they start to heal each other and like all books by the Author the road to happiness is never easy but it all gets worked out.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Elise Faber gets a win with KNOTTED LACES (Eagles Hockey #2). Hockey star Cam Jackson has been in love with his brother Lex’s FBI partner, Athena Phillips, for years. The problem is he thinks she is in love with Lex. Then they end up stranded alone together in a cabin during a storm. Cam sets out to win her over.

Elise Faber does a wonderful job with this story. She does a great job setting the background and then bringing you into the future. The characters are well-developed and likeable. The plot is believable. I like how both characters’ jobs are incorporated into the storyline.

Lex had a rough childhood that leaves her with some mental scars. She is having a hard time coping with the recent loss of a partner who saved her life. Cam is struggling with medical results he discovered about a previous injury. He is having confidence issues. He doesn’t think he is good enough.

KNOTTED LACES is an excellent addition to the Eagles Hockey series. It is skillfully written. It is entertaining with interesting twists. I am looking forward to Hudson’s story next, LUCKY LACES. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Athena has been integrated into the huge Jackson family ever since she became friends and partners at the FBI with Lex. Unknown to her, the youngest Jackson brother, Cam, who is now a hockey player for the Eagles, has been in love with her for the past decade.

One torrential rain later, his secret attraction to her is revealed and it becomes a turning point in their relationship. As they break down their walls and share their deepest hurts, their love for each other continue to strengthen. Those scenes where they revealed those hurts were so beautifully written.

But as an FBI agent, Athena has to navigate through dangerous circumstances while Cam is also facing issues at work. Can they both come out of this as one? Read this to find out.

This book encapsulates fully why I love the found family trope. Right from the start, even before the romance begins, my heart soared whenever the Jacksons fully embrace Athena into their lives. I also liked how bad-ass she is in her career, fighting for what she believes while still being so human in doubting herself at times.

Cam is a hockey player who wears his heart on his sleeve and his been in love with Athena “Ats” for a decade. He has kept his feelings to himself because he believes she loves his brother. Athena hasn’t had a family like Cam has, so she is reluctant to let anyone in. Little by little his family has knocked down her walls.

This book dealt with many real-life situations in a delicate manner. It was nice to see the infertility aspect from the man’s perspective and my heart broke for Cam. Once she found out that he thought she was in love with his brother things shifted.

I loved the mutual respect and understanding they had for each other. She has a dangerous job but he never asked her to stop. He supported her and moved at her pace. She supported him and helped him overcome some self doubts.

When she mentions something to his boss and he finds out, he doesn’t take it well and they have to fight to be together (more her than him). I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more in this series. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

This is the second book in the Eagles Hockey series and it is quick, entertaining read. Athena is a woman who had a challenging upbringing which led her to become a high energy, take no prisoners FBI agent. Cam is a professional hockey player and the youngest member of his family. You would think that he has the world at his feet but he is feeling some pain with a coach who does not see his potential and then finds out that the woman he has feelings for is in love with his brother, her law enforcement partner. These two are like peas in a pod when it comes to keeping things close to the vest. Fortunately, they get trapped in a cabin together with nothing but time and the more they are together the words start flowing. These two have a lot to unpack and it begs the question will they let the walls down and open up to trust? Overall, this is one intriguing read with relatable characters and have the song “Can you feel the love tonight” running through your head.

A hockey romance with a complicated love story….what’s better than that?!! Cam is a professional hockey player with a big loving family and a coach that’s a giant pain in his…. you know what. Did I mention that Cam is madly in love but can’t have what he wants…or can he?! Athena is a FBI agent who is Cams brothers partner and a honorary member of his family. Her family life is a hot mess so being part of Cams family is a blessing. What happens when these two start acting on feelings for each other? Will these two go running for the hills or figure their stuff out and stay together for the long haul? These two have fun banter and sizzling chemistry. They just need to get through some stuff to get to that happily ever after thing! This was a fast paced read with an enjoyable story. A story about found families, falling in love and everything in between. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Cam and Athena / Alt / Attie’s story.
Cam is a pro hockey player who is from a large and loving family, while Athena is an FBI agent, who did not have the best of homelife, and she works with Lex, Cams brother. Cam loves Attie but is sure that she loves his brother. When Can retreats to his mountain cabin, and is ignoring his family’s text, Lex asks Attie to go and check on him, and they end up being stranded together by a freak rainstorm, where revelations come to light.
This is a well written action packed, emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, forced proximity, grumpy / sunshine, opposites attract, danger, suspense, intrigue, trust, undeniable chemistry, challenges, and love, which leads to an entertaining, unpredictable, and compelling addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Cameron and Athena have known each other for years, she's friendly with his brother, Lex, Cam thinks they are move than friends, he has a huge crush on her.
Cam is a hockey player, being beaten down by the coach who seems to have it in for him, he shouts and screams but doesn't have any positive ideas. Cam received an injury which he's kept from everyone, he feels he's not enough.
Athena is a FBI agent, working with Lex, until something bad happens and she moves across country, living in the same town as Cam. Her parents were awful and now there's only her mother she gets awful phone calls from her, she's set up a cordon around herself so she doesn't feel anything.
What a pair! Can Cam make her see what she's missing without letting her in, as the voices in his head are hard going.

Another great read in the series from Elise

Eagles Hockey #2

Cam Jackson has been in love with Athena "Ats" for a decade but never made a move thinking she was in love with his brother who she works with. The Jackson family has adopted her into their family.

Athena is an FBI agent who just recently moved to the same city that Cam's lives in and he thinks it's because his brother Lex has a girlfriend but it has to do with what happened in her job, something she doesn't share.

When Cam's team loses in the playoffs he feels it's his fault, along with dealing with some other issues and goes to his cabin. When he doesn't answer his phone and his family is very worried about him Lex asks Athena to go check on him which she does. A storm rolls through that washes out his bridge and they are stuck.
They both carry a lot of baggage, will they finally talk?

Oh how I love the hockey romances that Elise Faber creates. The characters are always likable, relatable, and easy to fall for. Cam and Ats fell into all those categories. Love that Ats has this amazing career, and we were able to see the emotions she was trying to keep suppressed. Cam had his own issues going on, and that was definitely impacting his on ice time. For him to finally open up about it took strength.

The romance was good. The storyline easy to read. The steam what you'd expect from Elise. I'm falling for the side characters (aka the "good" teammates), and cannot wait to see how this series continues to grow.

Really enjoyed the book, and am finding myself curious about the Jackson family. So I'll need to research which books they belong to.

Oh and that situation with the coach? I have questions. SO MANY QUESTIONS. I also need to know what happens next.

Due to her family situation Athena has directed all her attention on her career as an FBI agent. She doesn’t allow many people close however her best friend Lex and his family have embraced her as one of their own however the feelings she has for his brother Cam run much deeper than brotherly.

Cam is a professional hockey player who is dealing with a toxic environment on the team he plays for. He has loved Athena for years but believed she loved his brother Lex. When he realizes that isn’t the case, he is determined to pursue the woman he has always wanted.

Both Athena and Cam have their struggles, but they have a way of seeing deep into each other and knowing exactly what the other needs. They had a few setbacks, but they are surrounded by a great group of family and friends who are there for them.

Touching book about 2 people that are hard on themselves and don't feel they deserve anything good.... I think a lot of people will resonate with this read and the insecurities the characters have. I love that they found their way to each other. I hope I get to see more of this couple going forward as I feel there are still questions to be answered. There is your typical steam and chemistry, which with Elise Faber is fantastic and a given. You get two people just trying their best, making it better together, and also working on themselves after. I would have liked to see Cam talk with his family about what is going on with him, and that him and Athena are together. Really good read, they all are, 1-click buy!!

I received an ARC of this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I love this author and will always purchase her books for my library and to support her.

"Knotted Laces" is the second book in the Eagles Hockey series, and it’s a fun, quick read! Athena- or Ats, she prefers- is a high-energy FBI agent with a tough past, while Cam, the youngest in a large, boisterous, loving family, seems to have it all but feels stuck under a coach who doesn’t see his potential. He’s been in love with Ats for ten years, convinced she’s into his brother—totally not the case!

Their unexpected cabin getaway adds a great layer to the story. With nowhere to go, they start opening up and letting their walls down. Their chemistry felt real and unfolded at a nice pace.

However, I did get a bit lost with some of the supporting characters and their backstories, especially since this is my first dive into the series.

Overall, it’s a solid mix of romance and emotional depth that keeps you hooked!

I really enjoyed this and it felt like it zipped along because I devoured it mostly in a day. We have the usual mix of interesting characters and depth to the story I've come to expect from the author but with a little extra intrigue this time thanks to a FMC who is an FBI agent and an ongoing case. I loved how the MMC and FMC had history through his family and when she started to open up to him it meant so much more having that backstory built in the prologue.

I don't think I've read all the related books yet but I have read some. This definitely works as a standalone but I do want to check back and make sure I'm up to date now. I'm also very excited to read the next book in the series after the epilogue! Nice teaser there!

Such an enjoyable story! Knotted Laces is the second story in the Eagles hockey series featuring a female FBI agent and a determined hockey player. A unique combination, yes, but a story beautifully woven together! How refreshing that the MC heroine, Attie, is in a male-dominated field, one where she is sometimes in danger, working every bit as hard as her male counterparts.

Cam is a real sweetheart who pushes himself hard - feeling the pressure of being on a team that is trying to find their cohesiveness - while dealing with his own issues…including seeing Attie around more, as she has been involved with his family for years.

This is a touching love story, just couldn’t put it down until the end!
