Alex Smart

Alex Smart is the best-selling author of puzzle and trivia books, including the Things To Do While You Poo bathroom reader series.

After spending one December in a panic-buying frenzy, she created her bathroom books to be high-quality, yet inexpensive, gifts for all those ‘hard-to-buy-for’ people in her life.

Alex has always loved organizing quizzes and hosting silly ‘game nights’ for friends and family. She is fascinated by quirky trivia and loves unusual, jaw-dropping facts.

Puzzles have always fascinated Alex Smart. Having studied for a maths degree in her twenties, she loves numbers and logic. Being an only child, before the internet was invented, she became an avid reader and is a fan of unusual, but silly, words like ‘nincompoop’!

Her puzzle books span familiar formats such as crosswords and logic grids, whilst also offering new puzzle obsessions, including train tracks and murder-mystery-style puzzles.

She and her husband live in Devon, England, where they enjoy relaxing with a puzzle book whilst exploring the country by train. Occasionally, she enjoys being locked in a room with her adult children and trying to escape in under an hour.
