My first book by Suzanne!

From reading the blurb I knew this was a book I was going to devour, this author writes such interesting and quirky characters that I found myself feeling connected too from the start. What I most enjoyed was that we got an older fmc who is in her 30s and had experienced a lot in life already. In these kind of romcoms we're usually placed with younger less self aware characters so I thought this was a fun and interesting change. Lucy is a character you cant help but love. After so many failed relationships she's still on the quest for love.

Plot wise from not reading book one I still had no problem reading this as a stand alone, but I cant lie after meeting all the personalities in this story im definitely going to go back and read book one, Em and Jack seem like such a cute couple. I loved the story line and tropes that Lissaman included in this novel. This is a book I think every rom com lover would enjoy and I encourage you to add to your ever growing list of book you need to read.

Be More Lucy picks up not long after the events in Be More Octopus. Em and Jack are moving forward in their relationship. Lucy, Em’s best friend is still looking for love until she is reunited with Mark, her ex and Jack’s best friend. Is a second chance romance on the cards for Lucy and Mark?

When I started to read this book I was surprised to find that this was both a continuation of Em and Jack’s story but that it also focused on Lucy. The reader is introduced to Lucy in the first book but it was nice to learn more about who Lucy was and her life.

I really enjoyed the storyline. It was the perfect rom com filled with romance and a dash of drama. There were two romantic storylines running in this book. The first being Em and Jack and the second being Lucy and Mark. I love the friendship between Lucy and Em. They’re best friends and are always by each other’s sides no matter what. However, they do find themselves in different stages in their lives. Em has found her person in Jack and their relationship is now moving forward. However, Lucy is very unlucky in love and I did feel so bad for her. Lucy seems to have a knack for picking the wrong person and some of her exes were truly awful. Initially the men she picks appear ideal but once Lucy starts to date them things end badly. So Lucy hasn't really had a meaningful relationship they've been more flings but all she wants is a serious relationship. The first meeting between Lucy and Mark was certainly tense. Something did start between them but due to a misunderstanding and miscommunication whatever had started ended abruptly with both blaming the other until the truth is finally revealed. This is a story about Lucy and Mark reconnecting and trying to find love again. They both have to address what happened in the past and try to move forward despite obstacles in the form of new romantic prospects and also a few secrets from the past.

If you like rom coms and second chance romances then this is the perfect read.

The writing was light, entertaining and kept my interest throughout. I enjoyed the suspense that came with the miscommunications between the characters, Lucy and Mark. I liked the miscommunication format in Be More Octopus and whilst this book followed suit, it managed to be individual and found new ways for the characters to get the wrong end of the stick and jump to the wrong conclusions.

The book was split into 3 parts which were dated. This gave the reader a good idea of timescale. This technique of splitting the story into parts allowed the main points of the characters' lives to be showcased without anything dragging. The short chapters in each of the parts meant that you could move through the story at a good pace.

The story opens at a moment from the first book, but from Lucy's point of view. I found this interesting, but it does mean that you need to have read the first book to fully appreciate the moment (and the characters as a whole). I do recommend the first book, it was one of my favourite books of 2023.

The characters were excellent. I liked them from the first book, so I knew that I would enjoy reading more about the minor characters from that book in this one. Relationships were strained at times, but that added to the drama. I felt sorry for the main character Lucy and really wanted her to have a happy ending.

Lastly the settings. They were very much in the background as it was a character focused story. What details there were were good and I enjoyed going around Spain, Devon and Birmingham.

Overall an enjoyable book that kept my interest.

The Blurb :
When Lucy's latest boyfriend stands her up at a wedding, the secrets she uncovers about him lead her to dump him. But how will she get on with her next lover and what happens when as ex comes back on the scene? Follow the story of Em's best friend from "Be More Octopus" - and find out what happened next with Em and Jack as well - in this hilarious enemies to lovers rom com sequel.

My Thoughts :
Having enjoyed Suzanne Lissaman’s last book, Be More Octopus, I was happy to read this sequel to the story, Be More Lucy. Although it can be read as a stand alone, I think its better to of read the first one to familiarise yourself with the Characters of Dashford On Sea.
Here in the sequel we follow Em’s best friend, Lucy and her journey to find love after dumping Mark, who also happens to be Jack’s best friend.
As Lucy enters a few twists and turns along the way, will things start to change for her now she is in her 30s or will she be destined to be single forever!?.
It was also lovely catching up again with Em and Jack and finding out what they had been up to since we had last seen them in Be More Octopus.
This story is fun filled and easy to read. Its one of those rom com’s that will leave you with a smile on your face and rooting for the characters as if they were your own friends.
Looking forward to more from Suzanne Lissaman in the future.

This is Book Two in 'The Dashford Comedies'. This book can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend that you read Book One 'Be More Octopus' as it will understanding each of the characters. Em is secretly planning with wedding to Jack, but she's not to sure if anything is going on since Clara is in Jack's new film. This is where Lucy come to Em's help, Lucy decides to see if there is anything going on with Jack and Clara. Lucy is still looking for love but she's in her 30s now and wondering will she ever find love and the man of her dreams. There are a few little twists on the way. I found this an easy and enjoyable read, which I finished in one sitting. If you like rom coms you'll really love this book,

Entertaining Second Book

I enjoyed catching up with the people from Dashford again, in this book we hear more about Em and Jack but the main focus is on Lucy, who is still searching for the perfect man since her relationship with Mark, Jack’s best friend, fell apart. Lucy doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to men, the ones she picks always lie or cheat and now she is 30 she feels that she will never get it right.
It was an easy read though there were lots of misunderstandings along the way, a few too many for my liking sometimes but I suppose it added some tension.

Lucy doesn’t have the best of luck with men, choosing the cheaters and the liars, but now she’s thirty, she hopes things will change and she will learn from her mistakes.

However, romance isn’t always easy and there will be a lot of miscommunications along the way.

This was an easy read, split into three parts, allowing the reader to follow the narrative with ease. Lissaman gives us great characters I found intriguing and enjoyed reading about.

This is my first novel by Lissaman, and although this novel can be read as a stand-alone I have already bought the prequel to this novel, so I can read more about the characters of Emily and Jack

I loved this sequel to “Be More Octopus”. It was lovely to read about the continued story of Jack and Em. And to find out what happened to them after they got there happily ever after. I adored Lucy in “Be More Octopus”. She is so funny. So I was thrilled to read more about her and her relationship with Mark. They have excellent chemistry!!!! This was such a fun and easy read.

Be More Lucy is a light, funny, entertaining read. It was great to catch-up with Em & Jack & also follow the twists & turns of Lucy & Mark’s story. I highly recommend this fun sequel & can’t wait for the next one.

I was lucky enough to be given the chance to review this book on behalf of the @randomttours and I absolutely loved this book.

Having read Be More Octopus a few months ago, I was delighted to be given the chance to read this book. The second book in the Dashford Book series; this book picks up where Be More Octopus ends. We get the chance to catch up with Jack and Em; following the next chapter of their lives whilst picking up with Lucy (Em's best friend from the first novel).

I really enjoy Suzanne's style of writing, the book just flows and the pages are soon turned as we escape into the romantic comedy novel. A easy to read novelle that allows you to escape into the characters lives and follow their journeys.

Wonderful book, highly recommended to all; just the big question is: When is the next one out?!!

Love Lucy

I really enjoyed Be More Octopus so as soon as I was finished I had to pick up Be More Lucy, I wasn't disappointed!
I love Lucy, she goes through so much but bounces back every time, I love reading her interactions with Em, they make the best of friends. I love Nancy too! Jack for me though just doesn't redeem himself from the first novel, I just find him selfish, I was really liking Mark until the last half of the book and again his behaviour. I just don't think the men in the novels fare well, but I don't say that as a deterrent because I love how these novels are written. I just get swept away in the story and I really enjoy reading them and seeing how it all develops. I've even recommended my friend download the book to read... I can't wait to read Be More Panda next. I'm eager to see where the series ends.
