It has never been in a dragon's nature to surrender their possessions. The dragon-shifters were the last to abolish slavery for that very reason.
Sir Keyon Kenelm is the beloved knight general of the dragon-shifter kingdom. When he's tasked with hunting down and destroying trafficking rings, he's been asked to keep an eye out for a coveted slave that a neighboring country wants returned.
Greedy eyes begin to eat at the foundation of peace, and Keyon doesn't realize that escorting the pleasure slave, Elpis, while managing his gynophobic inner dragon is the very least of his worries.
I did not intend to publish. I went on Inkitt to write for exposure therapy. As a childhood assault survivor, I ended up carrying a lot of trauma within me, and it built up over time.
Since my POTS and hEDS flared a handful of years ago, and I needed a spinal patch, my depression worsened a hundredfold. I wrote for the first time a year and a half ago and found relief there. Readers came flooding in, became family and encouraged me to publish.
It was shocking but deeply welcomed.
That's how I got here. I'm an accidental author. Since losing my job, I'm hoping that publishing will eventually pay my rent, buy me food and pay my medical bills because I have not only fallen in love with storytelling, it's become a source of healing for me.
I have eight other books coming and two works in progress now that I'm finally publishing. It's never too late to join my reader, shifter family and me on the road to recovery. All are welcome; it's a safe place.
Starlight preserve you! This was so sexy and spicy and amazing! I love how Asha does the inner monologue, it’s always hilarious and chaotic haha. The dynamic between the main characters will blow you away. I love this series and the best part is they can be read as a standalone!
It was my first book from Asha Nyr and I'm delighted by the fact it won't be the last one. Talking about The Dragon and The Coveted, it's the second standalone book in the interconnected series of Healing Fates. To be honest, the first few pages of the book (around 20%) were a bit rocky ride for me as Asha has this unique style in her writing where she sprinkles a few old Victorian era words (which I wasn't aware of) she read in older fantasy books while growing up and wrapped them in her book, which was confusing at the beginning but it became very much interesting to learn these words and also it established the book in a different fan base. It was such a fun experience to learn those words from Asha herself!
Another notable thing Asha does in her books that makes it more entertaining to read is she uses a good sense of comedy to the sexual intercourse scenes where there's dirty talking and spice. Also, Asha represents a different aspect of those masculine and broody dragons we kind of as readers are well aware of, that's such a refreshing take that might not work for regular fans of dragon readers but it worked for me. The names and nicknames given to the characters show that Asha is absolutely wonderful at her writing job, for example naming the dragon part of MMC "Toast", and sweet nicknames having words like "moonflower" and "starlight"!
At last, Asha writes down in the last few pages of her book why she wrote this book and what her experiences have been, how this book helped her in healing.
I highly recommend this book. Thanks, Asha for writing this book and giving me a chance to read your book. Thanks, @Sam_the_reader for recommending this book!
The Dragon Knight And The Coveted was a rollercoaster of events and action. You are in for a treat of multiple surprises. Through the journey of these characters the story had me cry and laugh. Felt happy and severely sad for them. The transformation of these characters with their beasts is astonishing if this is not bravery I don’t know what would be. It made me feel so proud of them to what they have accomplished to work through their struggles and trauma. Elpis was a kind and shy person and was full of fear yet hopeful in her heart regardless of what triggers she had from all her abuse as a slave but she blooms and become so brave to push herself to help others and work to discover what she is capable of. Keyon and Toast bound by their duty to save all the slaves also develop and work through their issue to become what Elpis needs. This story is exactly when they say Love Concours all. There were lots of parts of the book that kept me at the edge of my seat. The action toward the end of the book had me terrified of what to come next. Super satisfied with the ending. It made my heart full ❤️ at the end each character got what they deserved. Rain and Toast were the cutest and funniest thing .. I was laughing out loud at some point 🥰 Asha congratulations on another amazing book. I know you write for therapy and healing but you have to know that your stories are like no other. They truly touch the heart and soul and are full of so many life lessons. Can’t wait to get my hands on your other books to come. To conclude my review In simple words I Love it ❤️
Book 2 is a super SPICY Fantasy romance with dragon shifters and fated mates that had me swooning❤️🐉 I loved book 1 so I already predicted I would love this one too. The books are told in multiple POV and can be read as a standalone as they follow different couples. Please read the triggers and the authors note, since these books feature dark topics such as SA and dub-con but together with trauma healing.
It’s not often I enjoy the sequel more than the first book but it was definitely the case here ❤️ that’s because I LOVED the protectiveness of Keyon towards his newly found fated mate, Elpis. She has no idea he is her mate, and he can’t tell yet so not to spook her 👀 Her entire life she was a captive pleasure slave, and is now discovering life anew. She has an innocent and sweet soul, while Keyon is adorably caring while aiding her towards healing. While his beast himself is also healing from his own fears. Their scenes are sooo hot (I think I was panting during her first heat and the forest chase 🥵). I also loved the mystery behind Elpis’ beast, the curses put on her, and her past 👀 one of my favourite elements of the story though is the shifters personalities and their inner interaction with their humans!
The story is perfect for Romantasy fans looking for that “I’ll burn the world for you” romance but mixed with dragons & trauma healing!
What you can expect: ✨dragon shifters ✨possessive alpha males ✨lots of spice ✨fated mates ✨trauma healing ✨protective dragon ✨she’s a captive slave / he rescues her ✨PRIMAL PLAY 🔥
Once again, I am in love with Asha Nyr’s unique brand of storytelling. THE DRAGON KNIGHT AND THE COVETED is the second standalone book in the Healing Fate Romantasy series, and while the first book dealt with wolf shifters, this one has dragon shifters! Keyon, the male character, is a noble knight and dragon shifter who is tasked with hunting down and destroying trafficking rings, while Elpis, the female main character, is a pleasure slave. The story follows them as they try to save people from slavery through a series of complications. All the while, we see them getting closer.
I loved Keyon and Elpis from their very first interaction, which was made unique given Keyon’s inner turmoil and anxiety caused by his dragon’s fear of women. Toast (the dragon) was perhaps the thing I enjoyed most about this book, because he doesn’t quite fit the stereotype of dragons and shifters in general. This is also one of the reasons I love the slow burn between Keyon and Elpis. It gives room for the couple to grow and for there to be healing, for both woman and dragon. And there is so much great banter in this book, both between Keyon and Elpis and Keyon and Toast. Their inner dialogues are great!
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own.
This was such a good read! The Dragon Knight and the Coveted is book two in the Healing Fate series but can be read as a standalone.
I really enjoyed all of the different elements brought into this book. There was truly never a dull moment. I absolutely loved the characters and how they developed as the story progressed.
Read this if you like: → Dual POV → Fated Mates → Dragon Shifters → Spicy Scenes → Witches → Gods & Godlings
Make sure to check trigger warnings before reading this one.
Once again, Asha Nyr has written a fantasy romance that takes readers through all of the emotions!
The Dragon Knight and the Coveted follows Elpis and Keyon. She is a pleasure slave, and he is the dragon shifter knight who saves her. Together, they're on a mission to save even more slaves, but even as they grow closer, there are complications like traumas to overcome, mating bonds and people trying to stop them from success!
I absolutely loved the first book in this series, but this one even more so! I loved all of the characters. Elpis, despite her trauma, is such a beautiful soul full of light, generosity, optimism and desire to learn and to improve. This shines especially through her growing friendship-to-love with Keyon, and the grace and space she gives his dragon counterpart, Toast, to overcome his own fear of females. Toast was actually one of the most unusual and unique aspects of this story, breaking away from the stereotypical representation of fearless, rough, violent dragons we are used to seeing. He was such a delicate soul!
The story offers a lot of heartbreaking moments, but never does it feel "sad". On the contrary, there is so much levity and humor throughout (if you love puns, you're in for so many treats!) This is a beautiful story of hope and healing.
If you love dual POV narrations, strangers to friends to lovers romance, fated mates and shifter stories, this is the book for you!
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy for review. Opinions are my own.
I may pick this book back up in the future, but at the moment, I'm going to put it down after two days of reading. I don't leave star ratings for books I haven't finished, but I'll give my thoughts below so you can decide if it sounds like a book you would enjoy. Just because it wasn't for me doesn't mean it won't be right up your alley! 🩷
The MMC is a dragon shifter. However, his dragon has a phobia of women. I like my book dragons to be badass and tough, so I wasn't vibing with the fear of women. The dragon freaking out over her being near or a brief touch was a severe vibe kill. If it was magically fixed by the mate bond, it would have been great, but even after the dragon found out the FMC was his mate, he was still "trying" to overcome his phobia of women. Over 100 pages in, and the dragon can't stand more than a few minutes of holding her hand due to his phobia of women.
I enjoyed the MMC (just not his dragon) but couldn't connect with the FMC who had a lot of childlike behaviors. The world building and story plot was interesting! And I'm sure there is character growth (or the dragon overcomes his phobia) further in the story.
I will say the dragon being named Toast was cute 😍
WOW!! This book had me in all my feels. I laughed, I cried, I blushed!! I adored the banter between the Humans, and their animals! I don't wanna ruin any names!!! The internal growth with the characters, was beautiful to witness. This book absolutely kept me wanting to keep reading, and if I wasn't reading, I wanted to keep reading! I love how the Author paints the pictures, and her writing?! Chefs kiss! I would absolutely recommend this book/series to any fantasy reader!! Now, I gotta of read the next book!
I’ve needed a few days’ time just to process this masterpiece of a story. It has kept me stuck in the world Asha has created and that world is magnificent. The Dragon Knight and the Coveted focusses on Keyon’s and Elpis’ story. Their growing connection is very fragile at first for several precious reasons:
1. Keyon’s inner dragon Toast is absolutely terrified of females. That big badass absolute dominant of a dragon does not dare to touch Elpis, and freaks out at the seer proximity of her. I found it adorable and hilarious at times, because of the way it was portrayed, but it was a serious issue for both Toast and Keyon. A serious, serious childhood trauma that affected their future immensely and made rescuing poor Elpis more difficult than it might have been for a ‘unbroken’ male. He couldn’t just carry her, could he?
2. Elpis was kept as a pleasure slave, desired by all men. She knows nothing else, but she knows she had been wanted (and useful). Keyon’s strange behaviour makes her feel ugly, expired and outright worthless. Not that any man should be the scale of a woman’s worth! Either way, Elpis’ insecurities do not make it any easier for Keyon and her to connect.
3. They are essentially from two different species that brings to question how they could mate and have offspring at all. As if anyone should question the Moon Goddess’ pairing! I would think she never makes mistakes in such matters.
All of the above makes for an exciting, amusing, heart-warming and truly touching story. Seeing the two characters break through their past trauma and fight for each other was so incredibly rewarding. Those two beautiful brave souls! Just keep fighting through your fears, your insecurities, your hardships, there is a brighter future just behind the corner. Elips and Keyon got what they deserved, abundantly, and they deserved all the best in the world. They just had to go through a lot of pain to get to it. Such a beautiful, beautiful story and I can’t wait to read more from Asha Nyr. Also watch out for all that spice! Daaaaamn, this book has plenty of it!
I devoured and absolutely loved this second installment in a series of interconnected romantasy standalones!! Let me hook you with this: he’s a dominating dragon shifter who must not touch her—the coveted slave he’s rescued—a enigmatic woman he cannot stop imagining himself touching.
Keyon and Elpis’ story immediately captured my heart as the revered dragon knight helps Elpis reclaim her feminine strength as a Reborn. I loved seeing her elation and fascination with the simple beauty and delicate things new to her. The gentleness with which Ser Keyon guides her through this journey of affirming her womanhood provided such a powerful contrast to the inner turmoil he grapples with alongside Toast’s trauma healing.
The buildup of this forbidden tryst between the two had me flying through the pages. This was the kind of slowburn, tummy-butterfly-inducing romance that makes fingers touching and hand holding feel like a full-blown spicy scene. Not to mention the actual spice in this book—WHEW—absolutely breathtaking.
Also, he calls her Moonflower so she calls him Sunflower—I literally CAN’T with them, they’re so freaking cute. I cannot recommend this book enough, especially for fans of the From Blood and Ash/Flesh and Fire series!!
What to Expect: —Dual POV Chapters —Dragon Shifter MMC —Overly Protective/Possessive —He Frees Her from Enslavement —Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Huge thank you to @authorashanyr for sending me the lovely PR box for this stunning book and for trusting me to cosplay the wondrous Elpis!! All thoughts and opinions expressed above are entirely my own.
✨ Fantasy Romance ✨ Dominant Male ✨.Dirty talk ✨ STRONG lead Female character ✨ Humour where there is darkness ✨ Virgin ✨ Rutting
I recommend reading this book.
I loved Toast bless his big dragon heart! I was smitten. Okay, no shame here! The puns that rolled with him was amazing as well.
Keyon, was a strong male who was beside himself as his Dragon Toast wouldn't allow him any physical touch from females. When he found his fated mate things had to change from not only him but Toast as well. Their struggles to overcome Toasts fears where astonishing and just amazing to read.
Elpis our strong lead female, had been through so much that I was surprised how she was able to keep from breaking and I was so overcome with emotions when reading her point of view. Her struggles and how she overcomes her fears was amazing.
Reading how she reacted to Toast and his trauma was heartbreaking and heartwarming. It was also heartbreaking to know his trauma wouldn't allow him to comfort her in the beginning and I am so glad to read as Toast was able to overcome his fears and become such an amazing protective Dragon.
This book had everything, laughs, heartbreak, and love.
This books was amazing! I am so glad I read it. 💗
I honestly don't think 5 stars enough for this book.
This book was really enjoyable. The author’s writing style is so different and refreshing. The book had so much character growth and made me appreciate the lifestyle I lived and grew up in as there are those in Elpis’ unfortunate situation. Elpis is such a strong character and is very innocent despite the life she’s lived. Keyon is a thoughtful character who doesn’t overstep boundaries and puts others first which is nice.
Synopsis: Unable to touch. Unable to part.
It has never been in a dragon's nature to surrender their possessions. The dragon shifters were the last to abolish slavery for that very reason.
Sir Keyon Kenelm is the beloved knight general of the dragon-shifter kingdom. When he's tasked with hunting down and destroying lingering slave trafficking rings, he's been asked to keep an eye out for a coveted slave that a neighboring country wants returned.
Greedy eyes begin to eat at the foundation of peace and Keyon doesn't realize that escorting a pleasure slave while managing his gynophobic inner dragon is the very least of his worries.
This novel contains supernatural fantasy and romance.
If you like book that contain: 🐉 Dual POVs 🦄 Characters Navigating through Trauma 🐉 Fated Mates 🦄 Shifters 🐉 And More
This book is for you.
⚠️ Just a heads up, this book does contain violence, sexual assault⚠️
Another amazing book by Asha. I m absolutely in love with Keyon and Elpis relationship. Keyon is a Dragon- Shifter knight general. He and his companions were on a mission to find traffickers and slave sympathizers to free all the people who were in the clutches of slavery. Keyon's dragon Toast is gynophobic, and as a result, Keyon also has to distance himself from women. While on his mission, he got the chance to meet his fated mate , Elpis, in one of the slave quarters. While he is happy to find her , it is not easy for him and his Dragon. I absolutely love how Toast did his best to come out of his phobia. Keyon is so supportive of his dragon, and finally, through lots of hardship, they could find their mate. Keyon is an absolute gentleman, hot and lovely. Elpis is strong, beautiful, kind, and understanding. Elpis had gone through a lot, but she never stopped helping others. She is the perfect match for Keyon. Rain is so cute. I really like her. I also adore Leofwine and Adelais. This is a perfect read for those who enjoy reading fantasy books with dragon shifter, fated mates, dual pov, etc.
Healing Fate is perfect for lovers of shifters, fated mates, alpha males, captive/captor dynamics, and powerful healing stories!
The first book introduced us to Ragna, whose journey of survival and healing after the traumatic events of being pursued by unmated wolves was both heartbreaking and empowering. Her growth and the connection with Zorian had me hooked!
Now, in the second book, The Dragon Knight and the Coveted blew me away! The stakes are sky-high, and the tension between Sir Keyon Kenelm and Elpis kept me glued to every page! Keyon’s battle with his inner dragon while escorting Elpis, a coveted slave, adds so much depth to the story. The intensity of the action and their slow-burn connection had my heart racing!
Things you will find in THE DRAGON KNIGHT AND THE COVETED:
I loved how this book raised the bar with even more danger and suspense. The world-building is incredible, and I’m so excited to see how these characters continue to evolve. This series just keeps getting better!
I can’t wait for the next in the series, huge thanks to the author for sending me a copy. All opinions are my own.
I easily say at this point, anything Asha writes I will read and love ❤️ she has such an amazing way with words and keeping your attention from start to finish.
The Dragon Knight and the Coveted follows Keyon and his dragon Toast and Elpis, a shiftless (or so we think). The LOVE I have for these two
We get dragons, witches, healing, battles, found mates and gods. AND SO MICH SPICE! So basically, everything you need.
This book has been such a dear to me in this series. I cannot count how many times I have reread this specific book over and over, just for how well written the book is. The characters were written with such detail that you feel you're experiencing this story alongside them as a friend, cheering them until they reach their moment of truths and become a beautiful couple. HUGE RECOMMEND for anyone who's a big fan of adventure, SPICY ROMANCE, and truly the best interwoven plot lines that are enchanting to read!
This book was definitely like nothing I’ve read before. There was so much growth from past traumas from every single character and it was just amazing. We also have Toast, a dragon who is terrified of women (tells you this in the first chapter), so it’s just not what you normally think of when you talk about the big bad dragons but you still can’t help but love him so much and be so proud of him.
I am huge fan of trying out new authors and this book along with the first were amazing. They start out a little slow with story development but it plays out in the end. You truly feel a part of the story and get invested in the characters and their joys and sorrows. Definitely Recommend
3.5 ⭐️ rounded up because dragon dirty talk and baked goods innuendos had me rolling 🤣
This was a decent standalone, with an interesting premise, very likable characters, and very fleshed out plot. Keyon (MMC), our sexy dragon shifter with a filthy mouth and a whole hoard of green flags, was supportive, patient, gentle (except when chasing during heat 😏), and all around a top tier MMC. His dragon, Toast, was seriously the best character, and his debilitating fear of females made for the most interesting character arc. Their interactions had me cackling, and Keyon’s patience with Toast’s trauma and fear was beautiful.
Elpis (FMC) was a sweet and damaged soul, who really came into her own. Her beast, Rein, was hilarious, and the conversations/interactions between the four of them made this book. Her trauma was dark and hard to read, and her journey to freedom (physically and metaphorically) was rewarding. Her romance with Keyon was sweet and hot, good chemistry and better spice.
So why not 5 stars? It could be a case of it’s me not you, but I found the writing often juvenile, the external dialogue childish at times or unnatural, and the book felt maybe 100 pages longer than necessary. Yes there was a lot of world and plot building, which we needed, but there was also a lot of telling instead of showing, which made the book feel dense and verbose at times. The middle of the story dragged a bit and while I wanted the resolution for the characters I loved, I considered DNFing due to the drag. Elpis felt extremely childish at parts, and while she was entering the outside world for the first time, she hadn’t been so sheltered to not even speak like a 25 year old? I’m not sure what it was, but something felt childish and immature about the dialogue and/or her reactions to things. It turned me off a bit and i had to keep reminding myself she was 25.
A good single read if you love dragons, fated mates, rich world building, and the literal best shifter mind-link interactions I’ve ever read.

Asha Nyr is quickly becoming one of my favorite Indie Authors. This author has a way with words that can turn something so tragic and debilitating into a work of pure enjoyment. The author takes you on a journey of healing, self-discovery, freedom, acceptance, and triumph.
In this story we have a Dragon Knight who has a dragon with a debilitating fear of women due to trauma that Sir Keyon didn't even realize he suffered. Imagine his turmoil when he met his mate but couldn't touch or pursue her due to his inner dragon's fear. Elpis was a highly coveted Pleasure Slave who was rescued during one of Sir Keyon's rescue missions. Elpis didn't under much because she couldn't read or count money and she never once knew what the outside world looked like.
The journey between Sir Keyon and Elpis was enduring as well as comical because Sie Keyon's dragon Toast was pure comedy. Yes, he suffered trauma, but his mannerisms and actions were hilarious but endearing. I found myself rooting for Toast throughout the book because he was the real star of the book.
Elpis grew as a character. Understanding that there was more to her than simply pleasuring others. Elpis learned to read and count money as well as did her part to help Toast overcome his trauma. Elpis and Sir Keyon grew as friends and eventually mated lovers. Their journey was heartfelt and full of patience and understanding. The love between the two was the healing balm needed to help Toast overcome his trauma.
I laughed and I cackled because Asha knows how to write a triggering story with humor and heart. I am looking forward to what is coming next in the series. If you haven't read anything by this author, now is your chance to do so.
This book, for me, is when Game of Thrones meets 50 shades of grey. We get the dragons, we get the battles, we get slavery, we get a coronation, we get a romance along with many spicy parts to read if you’re into that (yes it does go into detail) 🌶👀
There’s other parts of the book that gives us an unexpected mates scenario, we also get some creature shifters. For example the main character Keyon can shift into a dragon form and back into his own human form.
I really enjoyed this book, I loved the plot. The characters were interesting and I adored the overall character development in this book.
It was refreshing to see a romance blossom and I do feel the author did this perfectly.
The reason why I give it 4 stars rather than 5 is because I wish I was able to read more battle scenes in the book. The last part of the book highlights a battle scene that I waited for but I still felt I needed more of it. There was great detail in romance and spice in this book, and of course character development, I just wish I had more battle parts but that’s just me being picky.
Other than that, this book was very good and i definitely would recommend especially if you enjoy reading spicy chapters 🌶
The MMC and his Dragon have to go about life dealing with the dragons fear of women which is something to wrap your head around until the dragon has little choice but to face it’s fears as is comes to care for the FMC. And the FMC is a rescued slave who has immediate intense attraction and feelings for the man who saves her and is having trouble understanding if her feelings are genuine or what was trained in her past. Through Asha’s lense, every emotion, action and reaction is written so instinctually and the duality of the characters strength and helplessness that is sometimes dictated through their past is so raw. They both recognize the pain in each other and work so incredibly hard to understand and protect each other. Putting each others healing before their own wants and needs in such a loving empathetic way. It’s a beautiful story that is a hot and painstaking slow burn with a number of surprises along the way, and of course the jaw dropping humour that I’ve come to expect and has me gasping for air. Love this Sequel!
Like, book one - this book is well written and unique and of course delivered beyond what I had expected - following a different story and couple, but similar in style - I was again blown away. I'll start off buy saying that Nyr puts alot of great detail into the connections created or lost with each interaction between characters (no matter how small or large) and gives us a really good in-depth look into the minds of her main characters allowing for readers to have a better understanding and attachment to said characters! Also, grab a tissue box! This book features dragon shifters, shifters, witches and humans as well as our fmc (will not spoil this - as exciting as it is), multi-pov, found family, trauma/healing, betrayal, political intrigue, more action, more humor, definitely more built up steam with a lot more (but tastefully done) spice, a few unexpected twists all wrapped up with an HEA bow! Looking forward to more from this author!
*EDITING THIS TO SAY THIS IS THE UNICORN BOOK I WAS TALKING ABOUT GUYS* honestly this was a good book but the ehem unicorn shit was not my jam. plot was great and all but that really threw me for some reason. (and I’ve read some weird shit guys) I think this was a little too fluffy/healthy for my liking. STONE ME! CALL ME TOXIC! WHATEVER! ITS GIVING SNOOZEFEST WHEN ITS HAPPY VIBES! I wasn’t in the mood for happy vibes. I was in the mood for some messed up shit ngl. others will probably beg to differ since there’s like slaves and stuff but SPOILER they get saved woohoo 🎉🥳🎊😛! ending kinda felt rushed there was a good chunk in the middle that lagged for me (probably because of the unicorn reveal tho) I will say this book was very urmmmm ✨unique✨haven’t read anything like THAT! smut was good tho so ig I’ll give it that!

This is the second book in the healing fate series. It can be read as a standalone or read in order.
This is my second book from Asha Nyr omg I loved every second of it! Once again, she managed to get me completely obsessed and wanting to finish this book as soon as I could!
The characters are so well written! Keyon and Elpis absolutely stole my heart. Especially Elpis and Toast seeing their personal growth was really healing and beautiful.
Overall i absolutely loved this book and really recommend it for any romantasy lover! Just be aware of the trigger warnings!
I highly enjoyed the first book in this series and the sequel was fantastic! Even though they can be read as standalones, I loved the characters and the story in this book. Excellent writing!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
