Brimstone

A new world might've sounded like some futuristic dream, but in reality, it was the old world that had everything they could ask for. The one I was born into was barren, dangerous, and barely holding onto some semblance of peace between humans and what they not so affectionately called witches. Starvation, death, sickness, and lack of resources were our reality. The war made it that way and another one would probably destroy the entire planet.

I loved a good book as much as the next person, but this wasn't fiction. This wasn't a fairytale. I wasn't the proverbial hero of some story. I was a runaway, a disgraced son of non-magical parents, a veiled shadow within the human world. This was life and death; blood and ash; love and loss. I could not be responsible for it. This blood would not be on my hands.

I'm a self-published author who generally has a dozen projects going at one time. Check out one of my completed series or follow along with what's currently ongoing.

I was born in Portland, OR and I will unashamedly claim that the PNW is the best place to be. Catch me with an iced coffee in hand, even in the rain and snow.

My main genres are romance and fantasy. Some of my content is very dark, but it varies by book/series, so please check the content warnings in each book before diving in!

I hope you enjoy my books and leave me a review with your honest opinion!

Brimstone is a fantastic book for those who enjoy dystopia, magic, witches, and an intriguing plot.

Cyrus is a runaway and wants nothing more than to turn his back on the world as it burns. But what can you do with a war going on while witnessing so much loss, poverty, and destruction around you, someone has to step up to the plate.
Cyrus and Ava are great characters who have shown so much growth throughout the book.
I love that DeRose put descriptions at the beginning of the book to let us know which abilities Demons and the Domini hold. Those types of pages excite me to no end. The writing style was wordy, but it makes up for itself because it gives you a clear understanding and view of what is happening in the story. Giving you a close-up experience like you are right there with Cy and Ava in the middle of every struggle, thought, and feeling.

I was super surprised by how much I enjoyed this book! It was way outside my normal reads and definitely kept me
Hooked! It took me a bit longer to get into the book with some of the terminology used but once I figured it out I couldn’t stop! I loved the connection between Cyrus, Dante, and Avalon!

Cyrus leaves his family and life when he discovers he’s completely different from them! He’s a grym born to humans! He settles outside a small settlement on a farm and is completely content with his life until ava shows up!

Ava had a vision that led her to cy. Confronting him and getting him to help could change their whole world. Will cy leave his life of normalcy to help with Ava’s vision?

I just adore the writing style
of Madilyn DeRose! She has an innate ability to describe things so well, that you feel immersed in the story...you see what the characters see...you feel what they feel. This series follows a runaway. His parents are non-magical, so he feels completely ostracized. His life is hard from poverty and devastation caused from war. He now has to stop another war, or the very thin line of peace between the humans and witches will snap. Can he do it? Awesome story!

This was a great start to the Infernal Covenants series, it had a unique premise and the characters that worked with thus premise. I enjoyed getting into this story and going on with the characters. It left me excited about the next book.

Interesting read. It has a slow build up and seems to want you to get immersed in his comfortable way of life before things start heating up. Overall, it seems like it could have an interesting arc and I like that the main guy, Cy, doesn't jump on the hero train. Hopefully more action in the next

The way Madilyn writes makes me feel like I am there in the story, seeing and feeling everything the characters feel.
This has the perfect blend of magic, lies, secrets and drama that sucks you in from page one! 🖤
