Going undercover at a strip club owned by your mafioso boyfriend without running it past him first? Not the best idea. (Then again, a few spankings never hurt anyone… much.)
Micah Hart had learned a few things the first few months of officially dating Damon Romano, a vicious mafioso/ridiculously rich billionaire, infamous throughout New York City for his cut-throat “business” tactics:
1. Damon was soft for nothing and no one… except Micah (and maybe his sisters). 2. His domineering tendencies definitely extended to the bedroom. 3. Damon didn’t trust him – not completely.
That last one shouldn’t have hurt as much as it did. After all, there were bound to be certain obstacles to overcome in a relationship when one person was a mafia don and the other was a police-detective-turned-PI.
Damon keeps Micah far away from anything related to his “work”, and Micah allows it... at least until a stripper named Ginger waltzes into his struggling detective agency, claiming that her boyfriend - also a stripper - is trying to kill her. Ginger just so happens to work at Lust, the most infamous of a chain of clubs Damon has specifically warned Micah away from.
Taking the job would require him to go undercover at Lust, and he should say no.
But Damon is out of town for the weekend.
And Micah’s been salivating for an actually worthwhile case for weeks now.
As much as I was dying for a 2nd book to this series I was slightly disappointed in this book. I went into this book looking forward to seeing Micah and Damon's relationship evolve and though it did in some ways, I still feel as if Micah's character is devolving.
Micah doesn't always have the best survival instincts as one would know from reading the 1st book and I had hoped that his character would get smarter in this book but that doesn't seem to be the case. In fact, it's like he's gotten dumb3r and more naive. For instance, in this book when anyone mentions anything s3xual or he sees something inappropriate he starts blushing or acting like an innocent v!rgin which makes absolutely no sense. In book 1 he pretended to be a ho0ker and was all for licking salt off a stranger's body, but suddenly anything inappropriate is too much for him? Weird.
Also the writing was very repetitive. In his internal thoughts, Micah constantly Mentioned that Damon was a mafia Don. CONSTANTLY! And he kept saying "my boyfriend wouldn't like that" or "I can't, I have a bf"...I'm all for respecting your partner but it's like he would decide to do something despite his bf, say he shouldn't bc of his bf and in the end STILL do it after being talked into it. It was like he needs someone to talk him into it so he wouldn't necessarily be at fault. Honestly, it was so cringe to read about him being undercover at a strip club because his character was written to be so naive. He was undercover, but didn't want to do anything that an undercover person would do and he would repeatedly blame it on having a bf. Why even go undercover?
As for Damon, I know why he worries about Micah because as a P.I, Micah really just isn't good. I knew who the antagonist was minutes after he was in the club, but when Micah noticed something off, he just decided to give that person the Benefit of the doubt. No tingling spidey senses. No nothing. And in an effort to prove Damon wrong and that he can truly take care of himself, what does Micah do? Put himself in danger. I love Damon and his possessiveness and pampering, but I don't really know what he sees in Micah. I was hoping the author would enlighten us as to what's so enchanting about Micah but they really just created more questions.
I gave this book 3 stars because it's just okay and I still want to read the 3rd book, but I really hope the author puts some effort into having Micah grow as a character. I understand this is a book but realistically it would be tiring for anyone in a relationship to constantly have to worry about their partner because they dont know you shouldn't walk to the store in NY at like 2-3am. Normal people shouldn't and spouses of mafia dons DEFINITELY shouldn't. Micah wants to be trusted but there is absolutely no reason to in my eyes.
I love that we got to see Damon being slightly more unhinged and I love the running gag with Geoffrey. The author's afterword has made me very hopeful that there will be more of this series, because I'm not ready to say goodbye yet!!
I had absolutely loved the first book, Pretty Policeman, and I absolutely loved the second book just as much. I love Damon and his obsessive, possessive and protectiveness of Micah. I really want of them!!!
Read for a group challenge week 7. This was the gift that kept on giving. Micah roped into a set up job that all seems good until there is blood and he gets booted up to VIP. Does the handsy guy never learn? Defo Viewfinder vibes, just without the drugging and the rest. Need more of these two.

Meh, bit of a letdown. I've never met anyone less worthy of being called a police officer, as Micah has zero instincts, no common sense, and no actual detective skills. The so-called 'case' is resolved through the character happening to be in the right place when the villain is monologuing.
I didn't realise how short this one was compared to the first one and was quite sad about that 😞 this one was a bit more corny than the first one, and really lacked the proper investigation aspect, but it was still fun I guess.
I do really enjoy the continuation of the
Hoping the next book is a full book with another full blown investigation like the first one because I love the characters and I want more.
As other reviews have mentioned, this book is more of a novella than anything and it seemed like we were reminded at least once a chapter that Damon was a mafia don; it got repetitive. I wanted relationship development between Micah and Damon, but I enjoyed this little interlude anyway.
Micah definitely has a habit of putting everyone before himself and Damon has a right to be mad, though it's toeing the line of too much.
I hope the author continues the series and I'd really liked to see Damon rip the world apart for Micah.
bro micah is like the worst detective on earth 😭😭😭 had no instincts at all. still i ate this series up in less than a day and am impatiently waiting for more sequels. hope they’re out soon.
got to see a more possessive (yes MORE) side of damon in this and loved how he treated micah like the princess he is
one of my fav MxM book series hands down

I didn't realize how much shorter this one would be compared to the first book so it felt very abrupt when the book ended. I thought we were just ending the first act lol.
The plot has more holes than swiss cheese, held together by wishful thinking.
Also, the cover and title are for the second book in the series, the content advertised is for the first (This review is about the first).
(Very light spoilers ahead, basically just ranting about out of context snapshots:)
Sure, be a cop and secretly date someone being publicly known for being a mafia don. The press at this fancy red carpet event will absolutely be non the wiser that the cop son of a cop department head is having a little conflict of interest. That swiss cheese hole does not forward the plot in a way a more private event with less wishful thinking could not have done.
M: “He promised it wasn’t bugged. And it’s not like it’s a smart watch, so he couldn’t have downloaded any weird tracking apps on it.” VS D: “Press this three times if you’re ever in trouble, and your coordinates will be sent to me immediately.” => This watch has a receiver for GPS and the tech to transmit coordinates to Damon. It is already a tracking device. It has the tech to continuously send his coordinates to D, regardless if M pushes the emergency button or not. The emergency signal could be an additional signal that is transmitted with the continuously transmitted coordinates. Also: If you give sb an emergency tracking device, brief them that they are bad indoors and absolutely in basements, parking garages, the subway,... => This actually convinces me more that it is continuously sending coordinates, not just when the emergency button was pressed. This way you can at least track the way to where the coordinate signal disappeared/the emergency signal was sent (if it even goes through e.g. in a parking garage). => Swiss cheese watch...
Sure, just fuck without protection without ever discussing STDs before or after. M is still faking to be an street-sexworker and in his real life he had a few one night stands before . D never discussed his history in that regard. Just fucking without ever mentioning STDs is bad if you casually fuck around, but if you want to keep pretending you are a sexworker, it just makes you look bad at work-safety at your job.
M: "Nah, the mafia don won't hurt me if he finds out I'm a cop" D: Hurts and threatenes a kid because it forgot Ms allergy in a way that was super obvious (center of the plate, not mixed into sth).
(Also, by 72% two different women have already been described as "hormonal" by their husbands without any consequences for them...)
Also, M is not really the sharpest needle in the haystack: Sure meet up with D's sister that hates you and tell D absolutely nothing "because it's a planning meeting for his birthday surprise" that M of course believes in and doesn't want to "spoil". So that's probably what the tracking watch is for in the plot? M: "And if [Ds sister] was going to offer an olive branch, he’d be a fool not to take it." => Oh no, don't hitch a ride in the unassuming and discreet vehicle. => Seriously, don't tell everyone about the emergency tracking device...
Sure, just tell the whole police that you are a cop who's dating a mafia don, nothing to worry about here...
"You said you wanted all of me, including the ugly parts. Here it is."
The first book in this series was an excellent debut and when I saw the author was releasing a novella length book which starts a few weeks after the events of book 1 I knew I had to have it. I read Pretty Policeman when it came out all the way back in December of 2022, but I never forgot Damon and Micah. The epic start to their love story was definitely one that was out of the norm so it sort of stuck with me. I loved how Damon was so sweet and doting with Micah, but to anyone else he was the definition of ruthless. He was such a contradiction that it was hard to believe everyone who kept saying how cold and vicious he was. That is, until the epilogue of book 1 when we got a glimpse into Damon's mafia don side.
"No one gets to see you like this but me, or I'll fucking kill them. Pluck their eyeballs right out of their goddamn skulls. Do you understand?"
As you can see the kid gloves have begun to come off when it comes to book 2. In hindsight, Micah definitely should have known better. He knew Damon was a possessive bastard, yet he agreed to go undercover in the one place he wasn't supposed to ever go - Damon's strip club Lust. As a reader I knew there was no way Damon wasn't going to find out and boy was I right. The anticipation of when Damon would inevitably be informed had me on the edge of my seat and I honestly couldn't put the book down.
"You're my heart, tesoro, and it's terrifying having to watch it walk outside my body."
This novella takes place over about a month time period. Things are moving along when it comes to Micah and Damon's relationship. They had some hard topics they needed to discuss, but after all the blustering they both took the time to hear the other person out which I liked. Damon still treats Micah like a cherished gift, but he no longer seems to need to hold himself back when it comes to their bedroom activities. The steam was super hot and it appears that Micah and Damon are both apparently into Daddy kink which was not something I expected. I also loved how Damon could go from saying absolutely filthy things in Micah's ear one moment, to then telling him how absolutely precious he is to him the next. I already can't wait for more of these two!
Please be aware I received an ARC but these are my own opinions. There will be minor spoilers.
This book picks up not too long after the first. Micah has recovered from what happened at the end of the first book, started his detective agency with Tessa but there are some minor problems between him and Damon, his mafia boss boyfriend. Micah accepts a job through Damon’s sister to go undercover at their club, Lust, while Damon is away on a trip. And quite a few things happen from there.
I had been waiting for this sequel since the first book came out, so I was really eager for this sequel to get more of Micah and Damon. It did not disappoint. Micah continues to be endearingly stubborn and brave, Damon is incredibly hot, possessive and caring (but only towards Micah). There’s a good bit of comedy in here mixed in with some tension, sweet moments and a few hot scenes.
I will say I did prefer the first book but it was longer so we had more time with these characters.
If I did have a minor problem or two with this book, I wish we would have learned more about the immediate aftermath of book 1 but it’s a small thing. Like maybe Micah should be a bit traumatized from his experience but he seems to have no issues here.
Definitely recommended for people who enjoyed the first book. Already looking forward to the next in this series!

This novella-length sequel to Pretty Policeman was delightful! Starting this story, Micah has opened up a PI business together with his best friend. Their first case happens to involve them going undercover at a strip club - something Micah's mob boss boyfriend wouldn't exactly approve of. I love that premise! And I think Rose is spoiling us with these delicious undercover situations (in the first book, he was an undercover hooker) because I will obviously expect something equally thrilling in the next book too. But anyway. It's the perfect setup to cause some juicy drama when Damon eventually finds out about it. The case itself was interesting enough, but honestly, the relationship between Micah and Damon is the draw for me. I freaking love them! With Damon being the older, super possessive, and over-protective in the extreme, and Micah being just a regular happy-go-lucky younger guy. Also, the spice was *chef's kiss*! I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the next book won't be delayed in the way this one was because I can't wait to get more of these guys!

Como? Como o personagem do Damon virou um babaca nesse livro? No primeiro eu amava ele! Mas ele jogou na cara que ele tiraria o emprego do namorado? E que relacionamento tóxico é esse do nada? Será que eu não vi os sinais vermelhos no primeiro livro? Estou me sentindo enganada porque eu seriamente gostava do Damon...

Micah left the police force and started, with his friend Tessa, the Hart and Gallagher Investigations. We know from the first book Micah’s life partner is Damon, the uber possessive slash protective mafia boss. He’s manipulative when it concerns Micah. Book one was a story with more than 450 pages, super entertaining. I loved Micah and Damon.
Don’t expect the same from this read, it’s entertaining for sure, a solid plot, but it’s completely different. Sadly it took 40% before Damon entered the scene. I loved the parts where Damon was involved the most. That’s what makes this read attractive. He’s super protective and possessive.
The plot with Micah’s work was about a ‘maybe’ attempt to murder. It was all nicely developed.
Overall a light enjoyable read, with humor, spanking, fights, a little thrill, and Damon who wants answers, read for yourself if he gets them.
Second in series (Pretty Policeman), must be read in order. Established couple. Slight age gap. Single POV. Quick read. When Micah is approached with a new case, he knows he’s not supposed to go undercover at one of Damon’s clubs, but Damon is out of town so what he doesn’t know won’t hurt, right? Micah wants to help a stripper whose life is in danger, and unfortunately things do not go smoothly, especially once Damon returns to town. Damon is his usual possessive and protective self when it comes to Micah, but Micah is no pushover and when they discuss their differences, they finally establish some honest communication and express their deeper feelings for each other. There is plenty of action, fun secondary characters, and some steamy interactions for Damon and Micah. I really enjoy Damon and Micah’s growing relationship, the author’s writing style, and the mix of danger and fun. I eagerly await more from this series. 4.5 rounded up
More of the same dysfunctional relationship, but still enjoyable.
It's ironic that Micah keeps asking Damon to trust him when he always gets himself into incredibly questionable situations that could reasonably appear as though he was being unfaithful. I mean, going to a strip club and posing as a waiter should make anybody insecure about their relationship.
Damon still proves himself to be an awful person. Breaking Asher's (or whatever his name was) hand, threatening to kill Carlotta, threatening the lives of the people in the city if Micah got hurt. Definitely crosses into psycho territory (but he is the head of a mafia family, so that's to be expected)
Tommy was surprisingly sweet, which just made me hate Ginger for thinking that Tommy was trying to kill her.
Also, poor Geoffrey.
Idk if I'll end up reading any followups, just cause I think I've had enough of Damon being given a pass for being a murderous crimelord just because he's handsome.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and this one picks up shortly after the first one ends. My biggest complaint is that it's not longer, as it’s a novella, rather than a full-length novel. I enjoyed seeing more of Micah and Tessa’s friendship and working relationship as they start their own private detective agency. However, Micah’s choice to go behind Damon’s back and work a case he knows his boyfriend wouldn't approve of, might not be a good idea. Micah’s survival instincts are not the best. Overall, I enjoyed the story. The case Micah and Tessa work is amusing. I enjoyed the steamy scenes when Damon does show up, and Damon’s reaction to finding Micah working in a strip club is predictably amusing.
I received a copy of this book from the author, and this is my honest review.
Micah leaves the police force to start his own detective agency. Because his life isn’t complicated enough he decides to take a case that has him going undercover in his boyfriends strip club. Not a really good idea when said boyfriend is an Uber protective mafia Don…“Honestly, you get kidnapped by a serial killer one time, and people suddenly obsess over your well-being”
I liked the setting of the strip club. Damon’s sister was a wild card. I was never sure of her motives. Can’t decide if she really liked Micah or not. Serious steam between the men with a bit of levity thrown in.
Damon was just as heavy handed in this book as he as in the first. Micah just seemed to roll over and let him control their relationship.
I feel the first book in the series needs to be read to enjoy this one.

This novella, features Damon, mafia don and ex detective Micah a few months on from where the first book finished. They are still dating and Micah gets offered a new case as a PI. It’s a bit risky , but with Damon away Micah and Tessa take it on and quickly find themselves undercover in Joelle’s strip club.
Nothing is ever easy and Damon freaks out when he finds Micah dressed scantily and in another man’s company. There are more obstacles including Micah getting in harms way again. Micah is still sorting though his relationship in his head with Damon thinks he doesn’t trust him but he forgets to realise that Micah is everything to Damon and wouldn’t be able to handle it if something bad ever happened to Micah.
It was nice seeing this couple again and I enjoyed all of the secondary characters.
I was looking forward to see improvements in this book and tho my praises for the first book are still the same, so are my complaints. Micah is still dumb and naive, and I could even argue that he was even more so than in the first book. I was hoping to see him accomplish things on his own instead of relying on other people or on mere conveniences. Honestly, it made me think the plot wouldn't change if Micah was completely out of the picture. Tho I quite like the romance and how it was well developed in the first book, the parts where the romance wasn't the focus is my biggest problem. If the book is gonna have an independent plot outside of the romance, at least put in some effort of developing the plot seamlessly and actually have Micah do something himself instead of relying on coincidences, it's quite lazy imo.
Micah and Damon story continues with Micah first case as a P.I. which requires undercover investigations and bringing to light the unexpected perpetrator. I really liked seeing the possessive and jealous side of Damon, the shenanigans his sister concocted and the banter between the two best friends and partners. It was an interesting case with a turn to the unexpected when the guilty one is made known as well as the motive behind. I really enjoyed the story and I really love to see Damon POV in key moments, but I confess the snippet from Geoffrey side was a pleasant surprise. I really loved the story and I'm looking forward to see what happens next.
I loved this book and this couple! In the continuing story of Micah and Damon. Micah goes undercover in a strip bar to investigate a possible murder. When Damon finds him there, there is hell to pay. Damon is so obsessive, jealous and possessive of Micah, it makes for the hottest scenes ever. Micah gets so worked up if Damon trusts him or not. It was well worth the wait to get this follow up and I can't wait for the next one. Fifer always leaves you hungry for more. I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
