I really want to rate this book higher. It is a laconic review of the history of maps and the many types of maps that exist today. In that regard it is a five-star book for someone that wants an introduction into mapping for scholarly reasons. Indeed, I could see this being read as part of a college cartography course. The writing style, however, leaves MUCH to be desired. I found myself skipping pages due to the droning on and simple presentation of facts with little narrative-flow. Which is quite the feat given the book is less than 200 pages. So, take it with a grain of salt that this book is about maps, and if that is your thing you may learn something, even if you are not moved by the book.
