The secret to being the best man at your twin brother’s wedding to the woman you’ve been in love with since you were an awkward adolescent? There are two, actually: a solid game face and a bottle of strong whiskey. What to do when things implode the night before the wedding and aforementioned dream girl asks you to stand in as the groom, though? Say yes, of course, and wing it. Don’t let it slip that you weren’t faking that kiss that left her dazed and breathless and definitely don’t mention that it’s no hardship at all to pretend she’s your wife for a weeklong honeymoon in Hawaii. And when you run into two of your hockey teammates at the resort, let them believe you lost your mind and married someone you’ve never even mentioned to them. When she starts to have feelings for you, though? This part’s important—don’t, under any circumstances, confess that you’ve been in love with her for more than a decade. You’ll ruin everything.

As this one opened, I knew what Stella was going to find when she went to Owen's room, even as I hated that she would be hurt by it. I loved how Claire had her back and threw down with Owen. I was surprised by what came next with Ben filling in. It sort of made sense, with how things were for Stella's mom, but it was also so crazy over the top.
I thought it interesting that all this time Ben had a crush on Stella, but stepped back because she dated Owen and how he never would have done anything about it, had things worked out between the two of them. The honeymoon really allowed Stella to see a different side of Ben and I was glad that he was finally able to tell her his feelings, even if it seemed to end things.
The fast forward to Christmas was odd, only in that there seemed to be no communication between Stella and Ben, then bam! They were on for real. I'm glad they ended up happy.
On a side note, I'm more than a little disturbed by what happened with Claire and Owen at the end. Makes a person wonder if she was pining for him the whole time as there is a fine line between love and hate. Maybe it's my hate for Owen, but I feel like he doesn't even deserve the hate fuck Claire gave him.

Ben Hogan's love for Stella McGovern has been a constant since they were kids, but he's always been the one to step back and be the best friend rather than the lover. Until the circumstance arises for him to take his place next to Stella and be there for her in a completely different way, and to hope that she can see him and his feelings for what they really are.
Although Brenda Rothert has written books outside the hockey romance genre, my first and one of my favorite books of hers was BOUND, making her sports romance must-reads for me. Most recently released was THE IMPOSTER, the fourth book in her Colorado Coyotes series, and I can say without hesitation that she is still bringing the heart and heat with every book.
THE IMPOSTER was such an enjoyable read for me. I loved Ben from the first scene. His care and concern for Stella is obvious in everything that he does, and I was honestly surprised that she had never picked up on his feelings for her. The fact that the two have known each other for literal decades allowed for this not to be an insta-love situation, which is honestly one of my pet peeves, and made the storyline much more believable. They have great chemistry, but in every way, and that allows for the story to actually develop into something more, and to show their growth, especially Stella's, as she deals with several changes in her life.
The supporting characters, especially Stella's best friend, Claire and Dom, Ben's teammate from the Coyotes, had me laughing out loud. Everyone needs a Claire in their life, if for the comic relief alone. I'm telling you, she's fierce, and Owen deserves every single zinger that she sends his way. Dom comes across like the stereotypical jock, but it's clear that he cares about Ben, and I would love to see him get a book of his own.
THE IMPOSTER is the perfect addition to this series, and an easy 4 star read for me. Even if you don't think that you're in the mood for a hot hockey player, pick this one up. It's so much more, and you will be glad that you did. ❤️
Intriguing, a little different, very sweet! Stella and Owen are on the eve of their wedding day. Stella is very emotional because her mother is dying of cancer and is holding on just to see Stella married. But Stella finds out that her groom-to-be is having sex with his assistant in his room! Faced with the challenge of how to solve this versus disappointing her mother, they ask Owen’s twin Ben to stand for him and continue with the wedding plans!
Ben is a professional hockey player in Colorado’s Coyote team. He’s always been in love with Stella, but being shy he was late to ask her to be his girlfriend. He’s always respected his twin’s relation with Stella but now that he has a chance, he grabs it, if only for a few days.
I loved this story because both Ben and Stella are such sweet characters. Ben is full of integrity and honor, he continues to take care of Stella, who still grapples with the shock. I think it’s the difference in the twins’ personality that wins Stella over. Owen is outgoing but has no trouble sacrificing his fiancee’s wellbeing in exchange for spending fun time with his cronies. He’s not a bad man but he’s inconsiderate. Stella was just too sweet for him, but perfect for Ben!
The fake honeymoon was perfect for them to find out how well they got along. I’m sure it makes clear to Stella that this is the better twin! There are steamy moments, but not that many since Stella is still sorting out her emotions. But enough to show her which twin has the better moves!
Entertaining, lovely characters, sweet story, everything I’ve come to expect from a book written by this author.
This book was ok but it had a number of ick moments for me that lowered my grade.
Ben is our hero and he’s adorable. He’s been in love with Stella since they were kids but was too scared to say anything. But Own, his twin brother wasn’t, asked her out and they’ve been boyfriend and girlfriend for years and are about to get married. But Stella, our heroine, discovers just before the rehearsal that Owen has been stepping out so to speak. Part of her wants to completely call the wedding off, (dah, do you think so?) but her mother is in the last stages of cancer and watching her daughter get married is what’s been keeping her going. She asks Ben to play the. Role of Owen and he would do anything for Stella.
So they go through with it and head on the honeymoon that was supposed to be with her and Owen. Within no time she’s out of love with Owen and in love with Ben. I couldn’t buy into it, not at all and it’s important to buy into this premise in order to enjoy the book. And while I love pining Ben, I didn’t really care for Stella. Another thing real important to loving a book is loving both main characters.
Something else I wasn’t keen on was how loud that Ben and Stella were and didn’t seem to mind people hearing them. Ick. And even though this was a short book, it dragged for me so I’m not really recommending it.Its not one of Ms. Rotherts best.
Identical twins can have similar personalties or just the opposite. Stella was lucky to finally see that Owen who she was supposed to marry, was not someone she needs in her life. Luckily his twin Ben has such a wonderful, loving and caring man and would do anything for her. Even though she has known both since they were young she didn’t see what was in front of her eyes until she was forced to. It is crazy as I would think the hockey player Ben would be self-centered and stuck on himself. My heart went to Stella as her mother had cancer and not much longer to live. Since her mother’s one wish was to see Stella married to Owen before she died, Ben stepped in as Owen after Stella found him cheating on her the night before their wedding. It was so much fun watching Ben and Stella get close while they were on the honeymoon that was meant for Stella and Owen. There were some fun times all the engaged couples had together in Hawaii. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
Perfect wedding planned. Childhood sweethearts ready to walk down the aisle. Bride's dying mom will get to see her daughter get her fairy tale wedding. Check. Check. And check. Welll... except for the part of the groom getting caught having sex with his assistant just hours before the rehearsal dinner. Grrrr!!!! There is no way Stella wants to disappoint her mom but there is no way she will marry slimeball douchebag Owen (thankfully). But one thing might work. Owen's twin brother Ben. They've known each other since they were kids so it's not like he's a stranger. It just might work enough to fool everyone and they don't have to actually be married and it won't get tricky and... it is so going to get tricky! Especially since they have to go on the honeymoon together. Not tricky at all. This was so much fun!! I liked Stella a lot and Ben was a total dreamy knight in shining armor sweetheart! This is the best book of the Coyotes series!
From the moment I picked The Imposter ( Colorado Coyotes #4) up I knew I was reading something very special and the fact that Ben and Stella’s journey stayed with me long after the final word was read confirmed this. This is a well written, entertaining and at times emotional story that touched me on so many levels. Stella has moved her wedding to Owen forward because her mother has cancer and she knows it’s her mother’s wish to see her married but when the night before the wedding she discovers him cheating on her. What does she do….. well this is where Owen’s identical twin Ben comes to the rescue and what follows is a heartwarming journey as feelings are revealed. This book has all the feels, I fell had and fast for Ben and I adored Stella but what took this book to another level was watching the man who had loved from a distance finally get the HEA he so deserved. A wonderful addition to a great series.
Let me start off by saying - if this happened in real life, I’d think it was a little odd, but since it’s a fictional story, I absolutely loved it!!!
Ben has always been in love with Stella. Always. But he missed his shot. His twin brother is about to marry her. Only, before they actually walk down the aisle, something happens and she needs Ben to pretend to be his brother and marry her. Of course he agrees. Then her mother insists they go on their honeymoon to Hawaii and to send pictures. So they do and one thing leads to another….
I don’t want to spoil it for you, but just know, I do believe you’ll love this one! Elements of the story kinda reminded me of Brenda’s story Exiled. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you read it. Oh and then there is her best friend Claire whom I love so much and hope she gets her own book one day. Lol!!
I almost didn't read this one because the last two books were not very good, but I was curious after reading the synopsis and decided to try and I'm glad I did. Stella discovering her fiance has been cheating on her the night before her wedding and his twin agreeing to go through with the ceremony so her dying mother will know she is settled made for an interesting story. Even more so because Ben has been has wanted Stella since before his brother swooped in and asked her out. I loved watching them grow closer and Stella realizing how different the two were and while I'm sure some people will have issues with her going from one brother to the other, whatever, Ben and Stella were perfect for each other and obviously Ben didn't care because she was worth it. Really enjoyed this one from start to finish.
I really loved this story. What went down before Owen and Stella's wedding rehearsal was crazy, and I loved how Ben was there for her. Despite being Owen's twin brother, his loyalty was to Stella. If he hadn't been harboring feelings for her since they were all teenagers, I'm not sure he would have been all in for the fake marriage scheme. Their honeymoon was fun to read about. All of the ambassador activities were entertaining. I liked how they have been friends all their lives, and she never knew he was in love with her. It definitely made things interesting when they had to pretend to be loving and more intimate with each other. When things fell apart, I liked that they went their separate ways so Stella could figure out what she wanted for herself. I thought this was a great story!
This book was a brilliant read from start to finish. Brenda again never fails to disappoint again 😍
Stella is about to marry the love of her life Owen, they decided to bring the wedding forward as her mother is terminally ill and wanted to see her daughter marry. Things do not go to plan, so Ben, Owens identical twin brother steps in to save the day. Ben has loved Stella from a far since they were teenagers, so stepping in for his brother is a dream come true, but can Ben pull this off without hurting himself in the process and keep his feeling hidden from Stella? This book was fun to read, I loved Stella & Ben together.
I would like to read about Claire and the relationship that started, that would be another fun book to read.
This book is a pretty good summer read that helps take your mind off the world. The story begins when Stella discovers, just a day before her wedding, that her fiancé Owen is unfaithful. She catches him cheating with his coworker Cara in his hotel suite, along with her best friend, just as they are about to head to the rehearsal dinner.
To save the wedding plans, Owen's twin brother, the hockey personality Ben Hogan, steps in so that Stella can fulfill her dying mother's wish of seeing her walk down the aisle.
By the way, the honeymoon is definitely worth reading about—it's humorous and perfectly written.
The storyline will pull at your heart strings and you might need a few tissues in the end. HEA of course but ask yourself what good story that has cancer in it does not.
What a great book to start the year off with! 💕 I’ve absolutely adored every BR book (and I’ve read them all!), and this one is no exception. Though it’s mostly off-season (less hockey talk than some of her books), it still ticks off the “Hot hockey player” box ✅
Ben & Stella will leave you smiling and absolutely smitten with how cute they are. You’ll also have a sudden desire to fly to Hawaii for a “fake husband but real attraction” honeymoon and a thirst for a pina colada that will have you headed to the store for a fresh pineapple to drink rum out of.
The only question I have- Will we get a Claire & Owen book one day? 👀

I enjoyed this one as there were different aspects to the tropes. Fake marriage, but not really. Fell hard quickly, but not really. Twin brother in love with the fiance...well that one was accurate although Ben never intended to act on it.
When things go awry for Stella and Owen, things turns a little topsy turvy. In the end, Ben goes on the honeymoon with Stella and they discover their feelings for each other. Only hiccup is that Ben's had them for YEARS! Which just might cause a bump in the road.
I actually enjoyed that this wasn't a rushed to a relationship story. These two took their time to figure out what they really wanted.
"I don't want you to choose me over Owen. I want you to choose me over everything."
Entertaining read and series.
I voluntarily requested and read an uncorrected advance reader copy.
This is such a well written book that I knew from the start that I wouldn’t be able to put down. Stella was to get married to Owen who regrettably made some poor decisions. In swoops, his identical twin brother, Ben, who are polar opposites…..and I absolutely fell in love with Ben’s character. The book has entertaining moments as well as all of the feels of different kinds of love (parent/daughter; man/woman; friend/friend). There is a bit of a twist at the end of the book with Stella’s best friend, Claire, who hopefully can be the star in the next book Brenda Rothert writes. I recommend this story!
Ben steps up for Stella when she is in need of a groom and his twin brother gets busted for not being a good person. Ben doesn't want Stella to know he's been in love with her for years so he agrees to play along. He then steps up and agrees to go to Hawaii on the honeymoon and realizes Stella might have feelings for him too. He doesn't confess his true feelings until it is almost too late. I did kind of get where he was coming from. She doesn't know the whole truth and she was pretty clueless not to catch on before. Her mother being sick and concentrating on her was understandable, but being clueless about most things in her life was not ideal.
5 Star Review The Imposter (Colorado Coyotes #4) by Brenda Rothert
When I read the blurb for The Imposter I was intrigued and couldn’t wait to read. As I have come to expect from Ms. Rothert, this was a well written and entertaining story that ticked all the boxes for me.
From the first chapter to the last I was riveted to the story that Ms. Rothert wove.
What happens when you plan to marry one man but end up married to his identical twin instead?
Stella’s mother has cancer and her wish before she passes is to see her daughter married and settled. Planning to marry Owen Stella is shocked when she fi de him cheating the night before the wedding. Thats when Ben steps in, after all he has loved Stella from afar for what seems like a lifetime.
Complications will arise as feelings come to the surface. What happens when the blinders finally come off for Stella? Will she see the man who is her true soul mate?
Stella and Owen are about to get married. Her mom is terminally ill and has been holding on for this day. Because of a turn of events Ben needs to step in. Who is Ben? Ben is Owen’s identical twin who plays hockey. Ben offers to help Stella with the wedding. But was it a lie? The vows, the wedding, the feelings? This book had a surprise ending that I was not expecting. I’ve read so many of Brenda Rotherts books and this book definitely reminded me why. It’s always a great read that pulls you in to the story line.
Stella, Owen, and Ben have been friends for years. The three musketeers in high school and then Owen changed his tune and moved from the friends category to boyfriend material. Fast forward to present day, the day before the wedding and Owen is CAUGHT. Turns out Owen wasn't the best friend or boyfriend. Stella asks Ben (Owen's brother and twin)to step in to be her fake husband to fulfill her mom's dying wish. Of course feelings surface and maybe this situation isn't so fake? A story with all the feels and of course some heart warming turns of events.

I read this 4 star story in a day. An interesting story to say the least.
Stella is getting married to Owen, but Owen did something real bad and unforgivable. In order to make her dying mother happy she goes through with it but with Owen’s twin brother, Ben.
I’m not sure how to describe this story. It’s fiction, that’s for sure. In my head, I have a difficult time with the twin look alike and getting with the other brother. But hell, it was entertaining and it kept me occupied on a cold winter day.
Although it’s part of a series , it can be read as a standalone. Told in a dual POV with an HEA. I recommend this story.
Another awesome story in the Colorado Coyotes series. Ben gets to come to the rescue to the girl he has loved forever... oops it just happened to be the girl that was supposed to be his sister-in-law and standing in for the groom may or may not end well for him.
This is a quick paced and heartwarming story. Ben and Stella are great together and they get their HEA ending. Now to find out what happens next.
This story has so many interesting details about how a set of twins can and are so different. Between morals, attitudes, and how one treats another person. The way one puts his feelings aside for years due to his brother having met and moved towards a certain female, now feelings are being set aside to avoid issues. Years later events happen, making feelings more apparent, appealing and possible. Beautifully written story. Loved it!
This was a great story, loved it. It was filled with angst, heat, sadness & fun. So many laugh out loud moments in this story as unrequited love blooms into real love after Ben stands in for his cheating twin at his wedding & on his honeymoon. Stella & Ben have a natural chemistry that just explodes when guards are dropped & real feelings are allowed to show themselves. Recommend to read.
This is a cute read. I loved it. Stella finds on her wedding day her fiancé Owen cheating with his associate from work. She now finds herself disappointing her dying mother if she doesn’t marry him. So in steps his twin Ben who has loved her since High school fake marrying her. Also he ends up on the honeymoon too. This is a fun and fast read with an awesome HEA.
Oh Ben…panty-melting swoonworthy Ben 😍 And swoon I did. He is my current favorite Book Boyfriend. Scrumptious and oh so drool worthy in every way. I loved this book, and especially him. Stella is amazing and so strong, and these two were the couple that needed to happen. There is a lot more to this book, of which I will let you find out on your own. But know you need to be finding out!
This book was nothing like the previous books in this series. It was so lacking in depth and substance that I find it hard to believe Brent Rothert even wrote it. Nothing but Marshmallow fluff. It didn't even take an hour to read this mess. Not worth the money or the time.
I always enjoy when the man pines for the woman but I also enjoyed that he gave her space to find herself without him and her mother's illness hovering over her head. She needed the distance to determine that she truly wanted a relationship with him and wasn't using him as a crotch.
I saw the coupling between Owen and Claire coming from a mile away tbh.

I loved this book over to cover and could not put it down. I find it difficult to give such high praise to a "romance" novel so to speak, but this one was not only smooth and well written but full of surprises, especially the ending. Not gonna spoil it but so want to!!!
