“You meant everything to me, Emerson Hart... you still mean everything to me.”

The world knows her as America’s Sweetheart, but to me, she’ll always be my friend’s little sister.

The girl who blossomed into the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.

The one who stole my heart when I wasn’t quite paying attention.

My Tink.

Yet, when confronted with my demons, I made a decision that tore us apart.

One that has continued to haunt me every single day since.

And though I’ve spent the last five years watching her rise to fame, I’ve continued to love her with every broken part of me.

From a distance.

Until fate steps in, and we’re thrust together when her safety comes into question.

So I’ll do my job.

I’ll be her bodyguard.

I'll protect her—with my life if it comes to it—but I won’t trick myself into believing it can ever be more than that.

However, old habits are hard to break, and even though I know I shouldn't, I find myself powerless against the pull between us.

No matter how hard I try, she’s a weakness I can’t resist succumbing to.

But how can we find a way to be together when her very life may end up being the cost?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and found it to be beautifully crafted. It was filled with unexpected twists, some predictable and others completely surprising. I appreciated both Emerson and Ford as characters.
Ford and Emerson make a fantastic pair. Emmy is incredibly strong, loving, and supportive, and I truly admire her. Plus, Ford is such a charming and protective cowboy and it added an exciting dynamic. I love cowboy romances now.
I loved the thriller elements woven into the story, as well as the family dynamics.

It's in a series but can be read as a standalone and after enjoying this one I'm keen to look at the author's previous works.

Thank you for your @hambrightpr for the ARC! 🥰

FORD HOLLOWAY, THE MAN THAT YOU ARE!!!! 🥹🥹

Man, every time I pick up a book written by Pamela, I always say it can’t be as good as the last but they just keep on getting BETTER AND BETTER!!

I am so grateful to be able to have received an ARC for this book. I have been waiting for Ford’s story with anticipation.

Pamela wrote Ford & Emerson so perfectly that even after reading 200+ books, there isn’t anything I would think that the characters needed to shine. This book was perfect. No miscommunication or third act break up was seriously such a breath of fresh air!

Ford is amazing. He is truly one of a kind. He is protective, loving and seriously an amazing cowboy! I loved all of the things he did for Emerson without even being with her at the time. He provides everyone around him with what you would call a ferocious love.

Emmy, or should I say, Tink? I absolutely adored her character. Intelligent, kind, caring & SO FREAKING SUPPORTIVE!!! I am so glad she finally got all she desired in life.

I love them so so much. Pamela did these characters justice & has made me even more excited for her future books. I will never stop recommending her books & truly believe she deserves a ton of hype!!

Also, Vaughn made me emotional & it wasn’t even his book!

All of Pamela’s characters are simply written to perfection & I just know that whatever she has up her sleeve is going to be SO GOOD!!! 💛💛💛💛

“Because a love like ours is as boundless as the universe herself. And she knew what she was doing when she brought you to me.”

“Givin’ my heart to you was the best decision I ever made. And while I can’t promise our life together will always be easy, I can promise that I will always love you, because fallin’ in love with you came to me as instinctively as breathin’. And I’m gonna spend the rest of our lives lovin’ you the way you deserve to be loved.”

Rogue Knight by @pamelaorourkeauthor is a contemporary, spicy romance standalone that's interconnected with her Rogues of Manhattan series. With a smidgen of mystery/thriller thrown in, it makes for an exciting bodyguard x famous actress story.

I thought the plot was nice and strong. It kept me interested and entertained. The pacing was good, it didn't feel bogged down anywhere, nor did feel rushed. The twists are turns were fun and surprising.

The characters are pretty strong. They're developed and dimensional with interesting backstories. I imagine the minor characters that were a little more developed than the others either were MCs in previous books or will be MCs in future books.

The first +/- half of the book leans more towards slow burn with some spicy tension. Then it gets spicy. The spice was well paced/timed and pretty realistic.

While it's an interconnected standalone, I don't feel like I'm missing pertinent info by not having read the others, but that reading them would enhance the overall experience.

I loved that there's a low key mystery/thriller aspect to the plot. I enjoyed the variety of family dynamics shown.

I didn't love the nicknames, Cowboy and Tink for the MCs, plus Pest for the MMC's sister. Cowboy being my favorite of the 3, but Tink gives me tiny female/huge male vibes that I just don't enjoy any longer. Pest isn't my favorite sibling nickname, but it is out of love. I don't understand why he only has a nickname like that for one of his siblings, aside from maybe to further show that's the sibling he's closest to. I didn't hate any of these things, just didn't love them. Tink especially.

If you're looking for a spicy, bodyguard, billionaire romance and enjoy a bit of mystery/thriller in the plot, you should check this one out. It's a fun, quick read that I think you'll have a good time with.

Thank you to @pamelaorourkeauthor and @hambright_pr for the opportunity to read this eARC. I'm choosing to leave this unbiased review.

“Your first and your last, Tink. ‘Cause make no doubt about it. You and me, we’re end game.”

For 18 months I have been waiting to deep dive into Ford Holloway. From his introduction in Broken Strings, I simply knew in my bones he was the stoic, principled, strong, yet tender, giving, & loving man I believed him to be. Pamela O’Rourke has finally blessed us with his epic love story with his first(& only) love…Emerson Hart.

So many times I found myself audibly gasping in joy, heartache, & joy again at how masterfully O’Rourke laid out this “bodyguard,” 2nd chance, fated/“it’s always been you”love story. Ford is everything - Emerson is everything - their love is everything! Despite life (& schemers in their midst) tearing them apart — these two found their way back to one another, in such a wholly consuming way. There was no doubt that their love would conquer anything thrown their way. I absolutely LOVE it when authors bring 2nd chance lovers back together early & then let us actually see how they overcome their latest challenges together!

And while Ford is the top tier MMC I know you’ll love — Emerson is right alongside him! She’s deep, she’s considerate, she’s forgiving, she’s kind, & above all — she loves well, particularly Ford.
Do yourself the favor & listen to the playlist while you read…pay special attention to “Iris” — it’ll get you in the feels every time.

There’s so much of their love story I know will stick with me — much like all of the stories in this author’s backlog. Speaking of — if you thought you loved Vaughn Burton in Rogue Villain, be prepared to absolutely melt at the kindness & thoughtfulness of this man (well played Pamela, well played!)!!! It’s beyond!
Which makes me beyond excited for what’s ahead in her universe! I think I have at least a couple of our future couples pegged! And I can’t wait to see how they come together! Great things are in store for us - I just know it!
But for now…I’ll just love that love is growing in Texas! 🥰🥰

Hmm, although I'm not very familiar with bodyguard/rockstar romance, it is definitely a trope I'd love to read more. Hence, I was exhilarated to be given a chance to read this book and follow Emerson & Ford's story. Their journey started quite promisingly with Ford having admired and secretly fallen in love with Emerson from afar for a long time, but when they were finally introduced and gotten more opportunities to get along with each other, somehow that sparks were extinguished before they even blossomed, in my opinion. For some reason I felt like Ford had always been kind of obsessed with Emerson so he had been sweet and thoughtful and pretty much biased when it came to her from the very beginning. As a result, the chemistry between Emerson and Ford didn't feel all that captivating since he had apparently been her biggest fan all this time, which made the following romantic development less exciting to read about. All in all, I wish there could be more unexpected plot twists and perhaps, more in-depth content to this book. However, just because it wasn't my cup of tea didn't mean you wouldn't enjoy it, so I'd still recommend you pick this up if you were in the mood for something light-hearted & fun second-chance romance!

Did I just fall in love a little, yes I totally did!

This was my first book I have read by author, and I am love her writing style and storytelling. I felt so invested in this group from the beginning.

Ford and Emmerson had an undeniable connection, since childhood. Even though they had not been directly in each other's lives for years, their chemistry was still there. They both had experienced hurt and trauma in the past, so there were obstacles and challenges they had worked through. Ford is a top tier book boyfriend. Emmerson is so genuine even as a celebrity. Their support for one another after everything they had endured, was incredible.

One of my favorite aspects of this book was how the author added a little mystery to this romance. As many of you know I love romantic suspense books!

It was amazing!

What in the Rogue crack was this. I was excited for Ford since Alex's book. And man it was worth the wait. This second chance romance with cowboy vibes and it's always been you just hit the spot. Emerson the belle who is making waves on the big screen and closes herself after the hurt. And then there is Ford who is in his own purgatory. With the fate as it ought to be Ford and Emmy lock eyes again after years and it is a thing of beauty. The drama, the chase and the cowboy vibes kept me on edge and was fabulous. Meeting our old favs was such a blast.
Ford and Emmy are so tunned to one another the mature adult way these two deal with life was such a pleasure to read. Pamela you just blew me away with this one!!

I love finding new authors and I am so glad I found Pamela O’Rourke. Thank you so much @pamelaorourkeauthor and @hambright_pr for the E-ARC of Rogue Knight.

This book has everything you need for a great romance read. From steamy scenes, second chance and broken hero to plenty of suspense and plot twists I didn’t see coming.

I love the dual timelines and going back in time so we can understand what happened in the past to get to where the characters are now.

Ford and Emmy are written to perfection. I love these characters. Their love for each other is so strong that there has never been anyone else, even during their years apart.

I really enjoyed this read and will be adding the others from this series to my TBR list.

— This is book three in Pamela’s Rogues of Manhattan series, however, it can be read as a standalone. I’ve throughly enjoyed reading this without reading the previous books (yet).

We've met Ford a time or two before we finally got his story. I'll admit I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I knew he'd be somewhat growly and that he would be super protective. What I did expect was for just how raw and emotional he was for a male main character.
But I loved it!
He knows his truth, and where he comes from. But he doesn't truly know who he is. That's where Emerson comes in, his first love, the girl whose heart he stomps all over in the name of love, so he says. Now a celebrity Emerson is in need of protection as she's picked up a stalker it seems.
Tensions are high and the threats begin to mount, while walls begin to crumble. Can Emmy finally find out why, will Ford finally tell her his truth?
The pace is beautiful just quick enough to make you not want to put it down. The tension is high, the mystery is well played and the couple's chemistry is spot on. Rogue Knight was a long time coming but definitely worth the wait.
I have voluntarily left this review.

Ford was such a strong MC that he allured me in from the very beginning. I tend to read books out of order and this is my first one by Pamela O’Rourke and also the third book in the series Rouges of Manhattan. Definitely think you can read these in any order.

American Sweetheart / Movie Star Emerson Hart meet Ford Holloway who was a broody cowboy turned bodyguard who also happened to be Emerson’s brother. I mean let’s talk about the perfect trope combo for a fun and thrilling read.

Ford and Emerson’s characters really were written for each other the ying and yang, the past and present storylines and that all consuming pull they have toward each other. The sacrifice that Ford gave for Emerson in so many ways….heart be still!

Emerson Hart aka Tink is a movie star and needs protection after an incident. That’s where her brother’s friend comes in. Ford Holloway is a bodyguard and will protect her however, can he keep his true feeling at bay while doing so? They always had a thing for each other and even had a few secret moments together but she is a no go being his friend’s little sister. Can he keep her safe and keep it professional? This is told from present and past tense to see how their relationship developed over the years. “I’m their golden girl when all I really wanted to be was his girl. His Tink.” I really enjoyed this slow burn, second chance romance filled with some mystery and tender moments. Loved all the twists. Told in first person and dual POV.

I had been waiting for Ford's story for what felt like forever, and I'm pleased to say that it certainly didn't disappoint! Although the book can be read as a stand-alone, I would recommend reading not only the previous books in the Rogues of Manhattan series but also the Brotherhood series, where we first meet Ford.

I loved reading this story and thought it was well written. There were plenty of twists and turns, some of which you anticipated and others that came out of the blue. I liked both Emerson and Ford, and I loved that characters from earlier books also made an appearance. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series once it's published.

Rogue Knight by Pamela O'Rourke, is the third book in the Rogues of Manhattan Series, Emerson Hart is a sweet and talented woman, when we meet her in the story she is nineteen years old and is auditioning for the theater, for her it's fulfill the dream of her mother, whom she lost a few years ago, when she changes what she had prepared and using the pain and torment that is happening in her life as the driving force for said audition she makes a presentation full of emotion which wins her the position and it will be the beginning of her life in entertainment. Now in the present she is a more beautiful woman and despite having fame and having gone from the theater to being a recognized actress, she is still sweet and not at all a diva, the only thing that causes her a little discomfort is the constant public scrutiny, but her biggest concern is when her agent and the entertainment company she works for think she might have an obsessed fan, so they hire the best personal security company, Sentinel, but when her assigned bodyguard is strangely poisoned, the man who will come to ensuring her safety will be the same owner of the company who is none other than the boy, now a man, from her past who broke her heart when he walked away. Ford Holloway is a successful, intelligent and millionaire man, he is the owner of the personal security company Sentinel, and when his friend Alex DeMarco, who is in charge of DeMarco Holdings, which is the entertainment company with which the woman he left work, ask him to provide his services precisely to take care of her, although it's a shock, he of course is not going to refuse, much less if it's to guarantee the safety of the woman he has always loved. He initially stays away from her by receiving constant updates, but when the assigned bodyguard is left out he knows that the only person who will be able to take care of her will be himself. When he appears before her as her new bodyguard Emy struggles with the feelings that his closeness awakens in her, for Ford it's the opportunity to be close to the woman he loves but with whom he could not be and when he walked away he settled for watching over her from afar, but now that he can be close, he will do what is necessary to keep her safe, and although they try to keep a distance between them, the feelings of the past have not gone away, but in order to leave the pain behind and give themselves a new chance, they must heal their wounds first to aim for a future.
I loved this story, it has the perfect mix of drama, angst, a little danger and suspense, also hearwrenching moments, but also a lot of passion and love, with wonderful characters. Emy is sweet, kind and someone you will identify with and Ford is simply perfect, I loved that despite the distance he always does everything to take care of his Tink, these two truly stay with my heart. I devoured and enjoyed this story from beginning to end. Totally, and Absolutely Highly Recommended!
*Thanks to Pamela O'Rourke for my ARC. I voluntarily leave my honest review*

¡Total, y Absolutamente Altamente Recomendada!

“Because a love like ours is as boundless as the universe herself. And she knew what she was doing when she brought you to me.”

This is the third book in the Rogues of Manhattan series.

Ever wonder what happens when you meet the person who heart your tore out again, well you’re about to?
Ford was a bodyguard who now owns one of the best security company. There is one person he who do anything for, the one he let go America’s sweetheart, Emerson Hart. Since then he’s kept his distance from her, so imagine his surprise when he’s ask to bodyguard her. Emerson is an actress who safety has been a risk what she never expected was the man who broke her heart to be her new bodyguard. He will do whatever it takes to keep her safe, he’ll do his job but he knows she’s the one thing he can’t have. Now they’re living together, tension is rising between them which only bring up feeling that never really left. And the longer they’re together the more the attraction between them grows until they finally give into temptation. But can Vaughn keep her safe or will other forces keep them apart?
Their chemistry between these two throughout the book was great and even with all the time that pass they still have a connection between them that, proves their love never faded. And all the tension and banter between them just made their relationship more explosive when they got together. These two definitely didn’t disappoint in the spice department, I means that bathroom scene was everything🥵. I loved all their moments together especially them reconnecting. Their story will take you on an emotional journey with some suspense and a plot twist you didn’t see coming. This book has a bit of everything heartbreak, passion, suspense, second chances and healing. Overall, this book was great, I really enjoyed the characters and the ending.
I guess we now know what happens when you meet the person who tore your heart out again, you take a chance on them again.

I would recommend if you like:

Tropes: bodyguard x actress / second chance / billionaire romance / country boy x city girl / it's always been you / forced proximity / first love / suspense and secrets

To the surprise of absolutely no one, I absolutely LOVED this story so damn much! Pam creates the most magnificent and memorable characters, and I am utterly obsessed with her writing style. It literally speaks to my soul.

While this is book 3 in the Rogues of Manhattan series, it can very much be read as a standalone, but follows the broody and mysterious Ford (whom we've met before across the other books). The story follows him and Emerson, America's sweetheart, as he's to become her new bodyguard, forcing them both to face their unfinished past together.

Honestly, Ford and Emmy are everything - as individuals, and as a couple. They have such palpable chemistry but are equally interesting in their own right, too. Their banter. Their playfulness. Their connection. It was everything.

I've said this before, but second chance is arguably the most difficult trope to write, and Pam absolutely NAILED IT in a relatively short page count! The story was wonderful and engaging. The characters were top-tier. The cameos were fantastic (Vaughn forever remains the real MVP). The suspense element was on point and kept me both engaged and surprised. And, as always, the spice was absolutely spicing.

There's really very little for me to say to you other than to urge you to read it. As I said, even though it's the third book in the series, it can be read as a standalone without issue (but you should absolutely read the other books in this series too). I'm also VERY excited for some of the new characters we're introduced to in this novel, and seeing what's in store for them in the future (hello, Ford's sisters, I see you ladies 👀).

I obviously HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend! Please do yourself a favour and pick this up!

I knew I would love this book, and still, it shocks me all the time how good Pamela's books are 😱 How wonderful she writes the characters and especially the broken heroes 😭 Big tissue alarm! You will need them!

Ford is a character who appeared a while ago. The first time was in "Broken Strings". He is North bodyguard and friend. And there is a lot of his family story in it. Can't say what, because it would spoil that book, but I already knew I'd love Ford. And then he appeared in "Rogue Villain" as Vaughn's head of security.

I can't say how sorry I felt for Ford all the time. Sure, Emerson suffered too after Ford left her, but she didn't know his reasons. I knew something was wrong. They were so in love when they were young, but then 5 years ago, he left her. I didn't understand it. Until this one scene. And everything was clear. I got so angry 🤬 and sad 😭 at the same time. That was when I couldn't stop crying 😭

Knowing what happened. Knowing that he is still in love with Emerson (what already was obvious from the beginning of the book). Knowing he has to watch what he has to watch. It broke my heart 💔
He is her bodyguard and can't look away. And she really needs him. And I needed to know who wants to hurt her and the f*ck WHY!!! Honestly, she never harmed anyone. Emerson is such a wonderful person. She is so natural. No bitch. No diva. Nothing. Even though she is a huge actress.
Sure, there were quite a few people I didn't like and could think about... But why?

If you've read "Broken Strings", you already know how Ford's mom is. I loved her. Abi knows how to handle her daughters 😎 She is taff. It's not easy after what happened with her husband (Ford's dad).
And she wishes for her family to get bigger 😉 and tells Ford that over and over and over again 🤣

“𝘐𝘯 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘐 𝘭𝘦𝘧𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘐 𝘥𝘰.”

Five years ago, Ford Holloway broke the heart of the woman he loves. Left to pursue her dreams alone, Emerson Hart has risen to stardom amidst her pain. After finding his footing with elusive billionaire Vaughn Burton, Ford started his own security company, Sentinel, so that he could protect and watch over Emmy from a distance. But a recent and more direct threat forces Ford to emerge from the shadows to re-enter Emmy’s world.

“𝘐 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵. 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨.”

Oh my glory! This second chance love story had all the spice and all the emotions that I wanted to feel. I love this author so, so much. She never lets you down.

“𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦, 𝘛𝘪𝘯𝘬.”

Ford and Emmy deserve every bright spark of their do-over. Their love and loyalty for each other never died. The slight detour they took that allowed them to be who they were meant to be.

“𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦’𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘵.”

Rogue Knight has none of the clichés that can sink the soul, but is filled with the strength that inspires the deepest reader empathy. This couple will need it. As usual, Pamela’s devious mind conjures up plenty of surprises for them to stumble upon.

“𝘉𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦.”

Ford refuses to waste this precious opportunity to be with the woman who owns his heart. Emmy’s eyes are wide open and she sees everything. How does Pamela O’Rourke make me so happy? It’s like her books are sprinkled with umami! Another impeccable love story.

Another instant favourite!

If you love contemporary romance and don’t know Pamela yet, let me tell you how I absolutely adore her writing!!! It’s my fourth book of hers and they never disappoint!

This is a second chance romance and there’s always something truly heartbreaking, yet beautiful to see lovers that were meant to be together but were separated due to different circumstances.
We’re given a dual timeline which were done very effortlessly, blending the past and present and creating just the perfect amount of angst!

I loved the writing (as usual with Pamela’s books 🫶🏻). She’s a master at writing the story at just the right pace and with a lot of delicious tension. The connection between the MCs is electric and their love is visible even when they’re trying to deny it.

The MMC is a cowboy turned bodyguard and behind his slightly broody exterior he’s the ultimate cinnamon roll. Seeing his sacrifice and need to protect the FMC was beautiful, yet heartbreaking to watch. There’s something so sexy in seeing a man deny himself everything to protect the woman he loves 🥵

And the FMC is so likeable! Kind and generous but always able to stand her ground. She has a huge heart and her love for the MMC simply shines through 🌸

It’s a bit of a slow burn and the spice scenes were HOT 🔥 Seriously Pamela writes one of the best 🌶️ scenes, they’re hot yet sensual and just perfect 👌🏻

The Rogue Knight is a part of a series of interconnected standalones so you can read it without knowing other books. But trust me they’re worth it so go get all of them 🤣

Tropes:

🧡 bodyguard x actress
🧡 second chance
🧡 forced proximity
🧡 a bit of suspense
🧡 it’s always been you

Ford is EVERYTHING, and him with Emerson (Emmy or Tink) is just.....this book literally had me riding a huge rollercoaster of emotions with twists, heart in my throat, wiping away tears, and now has me singing or humming "Iris" ALL THE TIME. I already loved the song, but it will forever be their's.

Ford (Cowboy) has been with 'his Tink', even when she didn't know. As she soared the heights of her film career, seemingly living her best life shrouded with a veiled mask, her Cowboy was there, making sure she was safe. Ford had been Emmy's first, their relationship was everything, but the failings of a father saw Ford leave, never to return. Ford carried the wrongdoing's of his father with him, and lived inside his own hell, filled with blame and recrimination, all to keep his Tink safe. Tink has the biggest heart, and her support is a true character strength that all of us would want from a partner. Her capacity to love has no bounds, and this is seen more than a handful of times throughout this.

As with all Pamela's books, the side characters in her books are key to an amazing story, and Ford's close friends, especially Vaughan, has some key moments (tissues everyone, keep that box close) and I am sad this book has been read, but I know we will see Tink and her Cowboy again in Pamela's next book. It will be hard to leave these two behind, and every time I hear Iris (and I may or may not have downloaded Pamela's Playlist for this book from Spotify already), I will think of these two amongst the wildflowers/fairylights, with bunches of coral peonies on the table, wrapped in their love.

Thanks for the ARC opportunity for Hambright PR and the author. As always, this is an honest, voluntary review.

Can I somehow give more than 5 stars? This is the first book I read by Pamela O'Rourke but I'm ready to binge all her works because she just managed to give me my new favourite characters.

The story itself spoke to me with the major second chance plot. This book was so beautiful. I loved spending time on Ford and Emerson's feelings, those deep running, raw emotions.

Ford is the perfect man. I'm trying to keep this spoiler free but let me just tell you the way that man loves is something else. It's so rare at second chance tropes that I don't get mad at either MCs but I could only sympathize with both of them, even with Ford who initially made the decision to break things off. This man was ready to lay his life down for his lady and I was all here for it because... What a man! What a love!

Emerson is likely one of my all time favourite romance book MC. Whilst of course there was angst in their history, she handled everything that happened with such intelligence, grace and kindness, I'm really just as much as in love with her as I am with Ford. This woman has gone through so much and somehow she managed to remain this incredibly soft yet firm person and I just really loved everything about her.

The plot itself had a twist I honestly didn't see coming what is so rare with romance books! I loved the cowboy bits, I loved the celebrity bits, the side characters were great. But most of all, I loved Emerson and Ford and their story, a love story for the ages. I know that I'll think of these two a lot down the road and just have my heart warm every time.

✨ I received this book as an ARC for my honest review✨

Rate: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wow, this book really took me on a wild ride! Emmy and Ford are honestly one of the most surprising couples I’ve ever read about. Their journey is packed with unexpected twists that kept me on my toes the whole time. From the moment they met to the ups and downs of their relationship, I was completely hooked. The chemistry between them? Just wow. Ford’s appreciation for Emmy is like a dream come true, and you can really feel how much they care for each other.

The way the story jumps around in time was super effective—it showed how their past shaped their present. I went into this thinking I might be lost since it’s part of a series, but I was pleasantly surprised. I connected with Emmy and Ford right away, especially with Ford being the typical broken hero (who doesn’t love that?). The moments of tension and their “sexy times”? Let’s just say they were chef’s kiss!

Ford is such an incredible character. He’s a cowboy turned bodyguard, and honestly, you can’t take the cowboy out of him! The sacrifices he makes for Emmy are huge, even if it meant breaking both of their hearts at one point. He’s been quietly watching over her while she became a famous actress, and when she’s in danger, he steps back into her life as her bodyguard. Talk about forced proximity leading to some serious sparks!

What I loved most was how the book blends sweet moments with those shocking twists that make your jaw drop. You can feel the love and connection between Ford and Emmy down to your core. Even after five years apart, when they finally come back together, there’s this perfect mix of unresolved feelings and burning passion. It’s honestly swoon-worthy. The suspense kept me glued to the pages, and just when I thought I knew how things would go, bam—another twist! I found myself gasping out loud more than once.

I can not wait to read the previous books in this series!

🌶️🌶️🌶️

I absolutely devoured this book. It was honestly one of my favorite second chance romances I’ve read. Emerson and Ford had this soul deep connection, and I love how this book showcased that with flashbacks. Ford and Emerson developed a connection and started having feelings for each other when Emerson was in her late teens and ultimately, they lost touch when something happens with Ford’s family, and he didn’t want to drag her into the mess. He knew she was destined for greatness and didn’t want his family’s name to tarnish her reputation. For the subsequent years after, Ford was never far. He opened his own security company and made sure that Emerson was safe, never letting her know he was there. When his company gets hired to protect her, Ford has to show his face, and it’s like no time has passed between them, but everything is different. Emerson was distraught when Ford left and had never really recovered from losing him. Ford had his reasons, which Emerson finds out about and still can’t help but wonder what their life would have been like. They try to be cordial with each other, trying to keep distance between them, but they just gravitate toward each other. It’s like there is a magnetic pull that won’t let them be apart. Both Ford and Emerson realize that they need to lean on each other and that their lives might turn into what they had always hoped it would. I adored Ford in this book. When he spoke, he spoke with intention and didn’t mince words. He knew how he felt, and when he decided to share, he went all in. He had his reasons for the reservations he felt, not because of Emerson, but because of his family. Emerson was America’s sweetheart, but she knew that being in the limelight wasn’t what she ultimately wanted to do with her whole life. She loved Ford, even though he hurt her, and knew that he was her person. These two were electric, and they were my favorite couple in the series!

FORD!! Ford is everything you could want in a man 🥹

After breaking Emmy's heart, Ford did everything he could to protect the one he loves. I mean that man created a security business with the sole purpose of going to all of her dealings to watch over her and protect her from afar. The reasoning he left all those years ago was heartbreaking, it really really was.

Emmy is such a strong woman. The amount of things that she had to deal with that came to light in the end was horrible but through it all she listened to her heart. These two are soulmates, though and through and deserve nothing but happiness.

I will say that I wish there was more closure with Easton and him learning of things that he blamed Ford for, that would have been just what both Ford and Emmy needed to fully close that chapter of their past.

Love these two so much. They finally got their HEA and love is growing even more back in Texas with them 🥰

Rogue Knight

Tropes: Cowboy bodyguard + America’s sweetheart actress / soulmates / 2nd chance / forced proximity / suspense

Ford and Emmy! I don’t think Pam could have written two more lovable characters! The hype surrounding this book definitely did not disappoint and Ford and Emmy will forever be ingrained in my head. I absolutely loved this book, this family, the storyline, the twists and turns of the plot… EVERYTHING.

The story was told as a dual point of view which really brought the whole second chance aspect of their love story to life. I laughed, I cried and I didn’t want this to be over. One of the things I really enjoyed was that the HEA started roughly 50 percent into the book, which fit so perfectly for the storyline.

Ford was strong, heroic, protective + super perceptive to everything Emmy needed and wanted. He was thoughtful + endearing, just a big cinnamon roll who loved his girl like no other. He was her end game, ride or die, soulmate and everlasting true love. Emmy was his life and he lived without her for many years, all the while finding every way to keep her as close as possible.

Emmy was America’s sweetheart actress who was constantly surrounded by paparazzi and attending A list events. She put up walls to guard her heart that was long ago broken by the one man who meant the world to her. Emmy was so relatable, witty and Ford’s perfect match!

Thank you for the ARC, Pam!

“My first. My last. My always.”

Five years. Five. A lot can happen during that time. Yet some things never change. Emerson and Ford have a past and although circumstances took them in different directions, Ford was always watching her from afar. But now he needs to step in to keep her safe.

The pining, longing and dedication. The sacrifice and suffering. My heart broke for these two. Especially Ford because maybe if he didn’t carry so much unwarranted guilt, he could have had his happily ever after for the start.

Love how Emmy takes what she wants!! She was also robbed of the love of her life but has carried on gracefully.

Pamela writes deeply romantic sweet love and takes you on an emotional journey. I really enjoyed this one. A little bit of big city and small town country. I know when I pick up a book Pam writes I’m going to fall in love with the characters, the plot, the heartbreak and the happy ending.

“Your pussy tastes even fucking sweeter than your mouth, Tink.”

“I’ll leave because I love her enough to lose her. To let her find happiness even when I know I won’t be a part of it. To have a full life that doesn’t include me, even though it breaks my fuckin’ heart.”

“Because in all the years since I left you, not a moment has passed when you haven’t been at the center of everything I do.”

“You meant everything to me, Emerson Hart.” “You still mean everything to me.”

“..when my arms couldn’t hold you, my heart always held you close.”

“But sometimes, in order to have the things we love, we must do the things that scare us.”

Arc Review...

Emerson is America's Sweetheart in need of a bodyguard due to recent stalker activity.

Ford Holloway just happens to own a personal security company and oh yeah did I mention he's her first love & ex.

Ford & Emerson's second chance love story will stay with me for a long time. He started his own security company to make sure he kept her safe from a far but far enough to not keep her from achieving her goals 😩

There are so many secrets and turn of events that happen in the last 20% that kept me reading up until 1am 🤭 there is a tattoo he got and the meaning behind it is everything 🥹 Ford could do no wrong for his Tink.

This is the 3rd book is the Rogues of Manhattan series, I have not read the first 2, but definitely will now, I did not feel like i was missing anything since this book can be read as a standalone. Can't wait for the fourth book!

Favorite Quotes:

⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️ This was a nice bodyguard romance. Bodyguard isn’t my favorite troupe because I feel like it’s not usually genuine, it’s more circumstantial. But with this one, I could feel the chemistry between Ford &Emmy.

* The past &present timelines gave us good history on them &how their feelings grew. Ford was a perfect (morally grey) gentleman 😂. Emmy was nice &down to earth. I love how close she was to her stepsister Hayley. I’m really close with my sister so seeing them support each other was 🥰.

* There was good drama throughout the book. You wanted to try &figure out who was behind the incidents. I found it was easy to guess from the beginning but there were other tidbits that left me surprised. I did feel the pacing was a bit slow to start. It took me awhile to get into it.

* One thing that bothered me at the start was so many names &who’s who to start. I didn’t find it necessary to get all the background info on all the other miscellaneous characters.

* I love how we got to see Alex &Vaughn from books 1 &2. How those two &Ford interact is enjoyable. Seeing their families grow with each book makes me happy 🥰.

I’d like to thank Hambright PR &Pamela O’Rourke for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Themes:
* Celebrity
* Bodyguard
* Age gap (4 years)
