Judith

It’s lonely at the top.

I knew it would be when I clawed my way up here, trading away favors and any personal life to get to where I am today, the head of the hottest new video game company in the industry.

When an old friend calls in one of those favors, I’m happy to help Xander out. His partner, Dominic, needs to impress some conservative clients, and showing up to get-to-know-you dinners with a heavily tattooed man on his arm isn’t the way to do it.

And there are far worse things in the world than pretending to be Dom’s fiancée.

When the fake kisses with Dominic start to feel real, I realize there’s something missing in my life. Worse, I realize I never should’ve let Xander get away.

But if the three of us together can’t clear this next level in our lives, everything we’ve worked for will crash around us. There’s no way love is worth that kind of sacrifice.

Needing More

The opening lines really do set the stage:

Most days I wanted to be a bad ass bitch, who the world bowed to.

Days like today, I wanted to be submissive and meek and have some imposing man or woman lavish me with cuddles and chocolate covered strawberries and orgasms.

Not necessarily in that order.

-- Judith Walsh

I was quickly pulled into the love and denial between Judith, Xander and Dominic. The years of history between them, the long carried teenaged angst and emotional damage, the beautiful and amazing love, friendship, and understanding. It'd be hard not to like this trio, so I didn't fight it. 😁

Judith and Xander took center stage for much of the story, with Dominic more like a side character with a voice. This left me a little sad for him. At the same time, I liked that he knew the score and never questioned his place in the years-long relationship with his husband and their best friend. I appreciated that he was aware of individual strengths and weaknesses and picked his battles strategically, knowing what they all needed to be complete - each other.

Each has hurdles and rough patches to work through - together or individually. I love that even when they tackle one on their own, there are always thoughts of the others just under the surface. And I absolutely love how Judith takes in a practical stranger to ensure she's safe. (I am curious as to how that plays out long-term.)

It's bittersweet to see the series come to an end. The saving grace is that it's not the end of the characters, who are promised to appear in the next series. This can be read as a standalone but be aware that there's a lot of crossovers with characters from past books.

Finally Acknowledging Their Inevitable Connection -
Judith and Xander had been best friend’s growing up, with their relationship turning into a friend’s with benefits hookup. Meeting Dominic changed the dynamic of their relationship, as Xander and Dominic embarked on a committed relationship, but all three of them maintained their close friendship. However, other people’s prejudices caused them to live a life of subterfuge, that is until they nearly lost the chance at a forever happiness together.

When I started reading the story, I really didn’t know what to expect, but as I continued to turn the pages, I knew just wouldn’t be able to put it down. It was an awesome storyline, with characters that are utterly engaging, that had me totally engrossed throughout. The steamy scenes were scorching and had me needing a cold shower to cool down by the time I finished reading it. It was a worthwhile read, that you won’t want to miss.

I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was so excited to see Judith get her story!! We’ve seen her, Xander and Dominic in many other stories. It was a great read to find out the history between her and Xander. I typically do not like fake fiancée stories, but this one works so well. Probably because we have an equal amount of each POV as well as the reasons behind everything going on that it wasn’t like that typical fake fiancée insta-love story instead we know that Dominic and Judith also have a great back story even though it’s short but the love between these 3 is fantastic to experience

Even better?! We get to see the events from Dungeon Crawl that was going on at the same time.

I was lucky enough to get to read an advanced copy of this book but choose to leave my honest thoughts and review

This was a great series. Each story in the series despite having many of the same (side) characters was original, I appreciated that SOOO much. I wish this series was longer but alas... I'd recommend it for sexy reads with good plots.

Finally, Judith gets a story where she is the focus. If you read Dungeon Crawl, you so recognize some of the events and interactions in this book since it takes place at the same time and Judith was involved in it.

Judith and Zander have been friends for years. They come from the same small town (which, coincidently, is named for Zander's family) and have always counted on each other. Zander is married to Dominic who is a lawyer. Judith and Zander met Dom together and, in fact, Dominic and Judith were the two who originally hit it off. When Zander staked a claim, Judith backed off. She has always been a little inclined to resent Dom for stealing her best friend, but maybe she is just jealous. She and Zander had always been friend-with-benefits and now she often feels like the third wheel. Though she and Zander still talk often, both in person and on the phone, she has started to distance herself from the two men. In fact, with a new, controversial, game being ready to launch, she seems to have little time for socializing with anyone. When Zander calls to tell her that Dom needs a favor she isn't sure she has time, but she owes Zander and Dominic. But pretend to be engaged to Dominic to help his firm win a client? That didn't sound like something that was going to go well. And Zander didn't sound to happy about it.

You can probably guess that these three are going to all hook up. But, as usual, Allyson gets them into a big mess complete with misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Hopefully, they will manage to get themselves straightened out while she is asleep! Authors, so into character drama, right? Seriously, it is another great story with great characters and even some not-so-likable ones just to even it out.

I picked this up bc there were a bunch of romance novels for free on kindle and didn’t realize it was the last book in the series, which made a lot of sense in the end lol. I liked the universe and the general plot and premise tho it felt a little lacking idk. I might appreciate this more if I’d gotten to read all the build up for these characters in the 5 previous books, but I’ll just go on what I felt while reading. I love the trio together but it boggles my mind the way some things happened. The fact Xander and Judith had never kissed before but had slept together multiple times is just not realistic to me. Also I felt like the way the story is written isn’t consistent with the portrayal of the dynamic between the trio. Sometimes they’re a trio and they’re always the three together and then it’s a lot of oh Judith and Xander are in their own world and Dom is just like a guest. I know the dynamic the author was going for to display J&X working through their past hang ups while highlighting how the trio as a whole has worked really well together, it just felt disjointed and like it didn’t flow super well. I enjoyed reading the story bc the characters and setting for the story were fun, the spicy scenes were a great read, but the trio actually coming together was just harder to read

Book 6 gives us more of the history and background of how Judith and Xander met and how close they "almost" became before Dominic showed up. I think this is the perfect timeline showing the relationships between these three friends/lovers because I do not think they would have become what is shown in this book if Judith and Xander had hooked up earlier in their relationship. This is a story of TRUE friendships and how the saying that best friends truly make the best and strongest lovers. I will admit that I read this book ahead of Dungeon crawl and according to the author, these two stories follow a timeline but shows what occurs through the perspective of the main characters in each story. Can't wait to go back and read Book 5 to get the "different" perspective.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.

Judith and Xander have been best friends since high school and over the years, they’ve also been friends with benefits too, but never a romantic couple – which suited them both just fine. But now, as Judith plays the part of loving fiancée to Xander’s husband Dominic, she wonders if she and Xander should have tried for something more – and, if it’s now too late.

It was nice to finally have Judith’s story (and to catch up with the AcesPlayed team) as this steamy, engaging series comes to an end. Overall, there’s plenty of drama, angst, super-hot chemistry, and humour along with several seriously steamy, explicit, MFM, and MMF encounters. I received an Advance Reader Copy from the author, and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This one takes you on an emotional journey…

Judith has been included in, eluded to, or talked about in so many books it was so nice to finally get to know her. She and Xander have been best friends for so long but their history has also been somewhat bittersweet. I could almost dislike Dominic for coming between them but he is such a good guy, to know him is to love him. To say the relationship these three share is complicated is a gross understatement. While the building of their triad is the main focus of this tale each of their lives have so much going on that the pace never slows. Which I like and kept me reading way past my bedtime.

Boss Level
By Allyson Lindt
Main Characters: Judith, Dominic, and Xander
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
5 out of 5 stars
Finally, we have Judith's story. Judith's best friend is Xander from their childhood days and more of a friend with benefits until meeting Dominic, a lawyer. Xander and Judith both had the hots for Dom but Judith backed off and the two men became an item. Xander and Dom hide their relationship because of Dom's job and when he needs a girlfriend/fiancé Judith and Dom give a good show until it is no longer a show. Dom was my favorite character in this book. I love these triad stories.

Boss Level is the last book about the team at AcesPlayed and finally, Judith gets her own story! It takes place at the same time as the previous book, so some of the events are familiar, but told from different POVs which gives us the whole picture. Judith and her two guys are great together - but of course they are the last to see that and it takes some outside pressure to set them on their path to a HEA. As always, heat, heart and suspense combine to make this a great read. I do hope that we'll get glimpses of all these great characters in future books!
I was fortunate to receive a free copy from the author and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.

The Final and The Best

The AcesPlayed crew has been an amazing family from the Rinslet days, but now it’s the queen’s turn. Judith has been steering the ship and their game is set to launch, but no launch is without a hinch, plus she's distracted. Her friend Dominic, who’s married to her other friend Xander, has asked her to pretend to be engaged to him. Awkward…I always love the chemistry and history between Allyson Lindt’s characters, but these three have such respect for each other, that together they make each other better and more successful. Simply a wonderful story with a great message and a terrific ending.

Judith Walsh is one tough cookie and she is married to AcesPlayed. However as the ordeal with Elliott is going on we get her situation. Having read Dungeon Crawl before, it does give a glimpse into what resolution occurs to Judith’s problem. But we get to see another side to the tough as nails CEO and co-founder of the gaming company. We understand Xander Haddar’s significance to her. We also see more characterization from husband, Dominic Mancini. The trio make a great team as well as friends. I like the heart that bleeds into this story. The need for people and interactions.

I felt like for having so much life experience that Judith, Dom and Zander all were very emotionally immature and were almost constantly self sabotaging everything within their relationship.
I liked that the writer included Zanders feelings of jealousy where Judith and Dom were concerned because I have always felt like most people would experience that in a new menage type of romance at least to some degree.

Last book and finally Judith gets her story. This is her triangle with Xander and Dom and it’s exciting, it’s entertaining and their chemistry is waaaaaaaay off the charts. There’s drama and some misunderstandings, there’s hurts feeling and same major hooking up but all in all it’s a great story and a fab ending to this series!

Judith's story is spellbinding. She has been friend with Xander since high school and has to pretend to be engaged to Dominic, Xander's husband. This is situation has her questioning the fact that she has been a friend with benefits with Xander for years and maybe it could be more. Delightfully, steamy story that will enthrall you from beginning to end.

Smart ladies, hot guys, even hotter sex, all in a story that’s darn well written and perfectly deals with Judith, well known to lovers of this series, as she gets what she deserves with Xander and Dominic. Perfectly told and perfectly enjoyable. Highly recommended too.

Judith, Xander and Dom are in an intriguing relationship. She is called to be Dom's fake fiancé, but feelings begin to run deep and then there is Xander. There are some emotional twists and turns that makes this book exciting and well worth reading! I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
