⚔️Fierce Heart—5 Stars⚔️
This was absolutely, utterly, squeal worthy adorable and heart warming and I loved every second of this beautiful, beautiful book! 🥰😍🥰😍🥰 I didn’t want to put it down and picked it up as often as I could just to soak up all the warm feels and happiness I got from it. I can’t even tell you how many times I was grinning like an idiot as I read, lol!
Essie is such a cool, strong heroine who makes the best out of every situation thrown at her, and I want to be her when I grow up. And Farrendel, priceless, broken, sweet Farrendel is the best kind of tragic hero with a soft heart of gold—goes without saying I ADORE him. 😍😍😍 The rest of Farrendel’s family I’m still in limbo on how I truly feel about them but I know for sure I don’t like Melantha. She’s so…crabby. And I just don’t like her, haha.
The world is a simple mix of fantasy and steampunk and I really liked it as the simplicity of it all gave ALL my attention and focus on the characters and budding romance between Essie and Farrendel. Simple is sometimes better, and that was definitely the case with this book. ☺️
I do have the next two books on Kindle, but I’m worried about reading them because I don’t have the rest of the series yet! So I don’t know when I’ll pluck up the courage to read them and risk terrible heartache and a major book hangover, haha!
I loved this book to death—definitely a new all time favorite and one I will read many times until my copy falls apart and I’ll have to replace it. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

HOW DARE IT END THIS WAY!!!!! 😭😭 *runs off to immediately read Death Wind*
*races back days later to write the-probably-not-going-to-be-very-cohesive-fangirl-squealing review*
What a ride, oh my goodness!!!! I will admit the beginning felt a bit stiff and “tight” like the walls were too close and things weren’t exactly fitting atmosphere wise, until I realized a good chunk of the way in that it was SUPPOSED to feel like that since Essie and Farrendel on different levels weren’t feeling well adjusted and like they fit into Escarland and all the stone and close corridors. It wasn’t until almost halfway through when everyone is embraced as family that the “closeness” vanished to be replaced by openness and warm, happy vibes, and it was so good and so well written! I loved it! (once I realized what was going on, that is, lol)
Essie and Farrendel are THE CUTEST and I love them both to death!!! 🥰😍🥰😍 Essie’s family, and especially her brothers, are amazing and when they adopt Farrendel and give him all the love and support he so desperately needed my heart swelled to bursting; gosh, I love this family! They are the best for Farrendel and seeing him open up to them was so so good and amazing.
The intrigue and threat of war and traitors is so real though which brings me back to that epic ending where I wanted to punch a Certain Person in the face while also cry at how that cliffhanger went and made me SUPER glad I wasn’t waiting for Death Wind to release like so many others did (guess there is something to waiting so long the whole series is published before you even start it, haha). So highly recommend having Death Wind on hand before starting this one!
I love this book and these characters so much! Highly recommend this series!

Things take a turn with much more war and darkness than the previous two books, so brace yourself for a LOT of physical and emotional pain but with the promise of hope and healing by the end. There is on page torture but it always cuts away before things get too gruesome and nothing is described outside of emotional turmoil and pain, but it’s still hard to read and the main reason I docked a star just because it was SO HARD at times and I just wanted to get Farrendel out of there far sooner then he did.
Speaking of Farrendel, he grew SOOOO much as did Essie and while there weren’t very many cute moments between the two (because, hello, war and torture), but the strength they gained from each other and the determination to get back together no matter what added another layer of depth and heart to their love and bond that I love even though it was also really hard to read because of their distance and pain—I have a lot of mixed emotions on this book, okay?! Weylind and Eddie’s brothers really shone here too and I actually like Weylind now believe it or not, lol!
I appreciate how the author handled Melantha and what she did as I REALLY hated her at the beginning but felt compassion towards her by the end, and I really hope that things between everyone can be healed at some point.
An another amazing, gut wrenching, heartbreaking yet healing installment in this incredible series that I am most eager to continue!
