Author Emily Shiner has quickly risen to occupy one of the top few spots in my list of auto-read authors! Her ability to impress me with her domestic thrillers is exceptional.

Shiner explores the idea that we are blind to the evil that lurks around us and within us. She suggests that evil needs to be invited in and that it usually has links, a predisposition, if you will, to something that is already there.

Zoe Steele’s life has been built upon “doing the right thing” and keeping up the “perfect” facade. She’s always willing to sacrifice or go the extra mile in the hopes of maintaining her ‘good mother’ status. After all, she’s married to Mr. Perfect - Dr. Ethan Steele.

When she sees an opportunity to become an even better mother, she takes it…and soon regrets it.

“Yes, we invited Micah in. Of course, that was the right thing to do. But now I don’t think it is. I made a mistake. I’m going to tell Ethan everything, and then I’m going to fix this. I don’t have a choice.”

We’ve all been there - made a decision based on moral code and then when the force of reason kicked in, we realized we’d made a mistake. Shiner knows that we’ll identify with this and she plays on it.

I loved Shiner’s exploration of the invitation motif! She portrayed the polar opposites perfectly and had me biting my fingernails and feverishly turning pages. Zoe had invited Evil in and now it was ruining her perfect family. When I noticed that Zoe’s personality was changing, I was curious if she was mirroring Evil or if she had us all fooled by her perfect persona.

Shiner also deftly explored the theme of having mixed feelings about someone. She had me questioning if the perfect Steele household was trouble-free before Micah arrived.

Finally, she had me thinking about the wisdom of bringing a problem to another’s attention. There’s the potential that the problem might increase in the spotlight.

Being the better mother isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, just ask Zoe Steele.

If a great domestic suspense is something you enjoy, you'll need to add this book (of any of her backlist) to your list.

I was gifted this copy by Inkubator Books and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

This story is told from Zoe and Micah's perspectives. This is a well-written story. We learn early on that there's something off about Micah. It can be quite a predictable read and nothing surprising happens, but I found it quite addictive. The characters are well-developed, the pace is steady, and I quite enjoyed this book. Emily Shiner is quickly climbing my favourite authors list.

What would you do if one day a teenage boy showed up at your doorstep, claiming he is the son of your husband? Well, Micah looks so alike to her husband Ethan, Zoe doesn't hesitate and welcomes him with open arms. Ethan of course is a little wary, because he can see the likeness, but he wasn't aware of having a teenage son. After all, he's married to Zoe and they have a very young daughter.
But yes, we read this story from the viewpoint of Micah and Zoe, and Micah is right. He's Ethan's son by his college sweetheart.
Micah needs help because his mother has disappeared. Not that she was a great mum, on the contrary. Within hours Micah is totally at home with Zoe and Ethan.
And then the problems start.
Anna adores Micah and calls him her 'big brudder' (she's only three, mind you), Zoe only sees a boy that needs a mother but Ethan stays wary.

The story is well told, although it's clear from the beginning there is something off. How off, we soon discover - and Zoe does too.

A nice light predictable read, with no real surprises, but entertaining enough. It will go well with fans of Miranda Rijks and Daniel Hurst.

I received a gifted copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review as part of the book tour hosted by Zooloos Book Tours.

The Better Mother is one of my favourite books so far by Emily Shiner. We follow Zoe, who seemingly has the perfect family. She's married to Ethan, and they have a daughter, Anna. But everything changes when one night they receive a phone call that Ethan says was just a wrong number. The next day, a thirteen-year-old boy ( Micah, who looks just like Ethan) turns up on the doorstep. Zoe takes Micha under her wing, hoping to be a better mother than the one he seemingly has. His paternal mum leaves him for days, leaves him with little to no food, and is an addict. Micha very quickly begins to call her mum, which makes Zoe a little uncomfortable. Alarm bells start ringing, and Zoe begins questioning herself as guilt kicks in for having doubts about a child. Then things start coming to the surface of Michas past....
This book was an absolute page-turner and I didn't see the final twist coming! If you like twisty, psychological thrillers that make you question everything, you need to read this!

Life can change in a blonk of an eye and everyine has a different perspective on it. This is the story of zoe who is hppily married to Ethan with their daighter Anna but one night a 13 year old boy Micha turns up saying his mother is missing and Ethan is his father. Zoe takes him without hesitation. .
This then deals with their relationship and perceptive of each other and the situation. At times the chapters are predictable and the story xa little drawn out. The final twist made it worthwhile and you could see why it was written that way. The title and burb set up the reader gor a fab 4 star read.
Im hoping a sequel in on the cstds. Thank you netgallery and publisher and author fir thus cracking reading

The Better Mother by Emily Shiner is a good, fast paced book with a compelling plot. Throughout the book I couldn't make my mind up about Micah - is he bad or just misunderstood. This dilemma continues right up untill the reveal in the end. Every twist in this book, lands perfectly and you don't see them coming at all. The plot was unique and characters- most of them were dubious. The book ends with a cliffhanger and I really wish it didn't - atleast not that way! Overall this book was a good companion on a long flight and certainly interesting enough to keep going even after the lights were turned off.

Thank you Netgalley, Inkubator Books and Emily Shiner for the arc!

She just wanted to help...now she may have a killer in her home...

A fast paced entertaining quick read and my new favourite by Emily Shiner. While some of her books have been hit and miss with me, this has got to be one of her best. It is fast paced with short snappy chapters and a simple storyline that holds your attention throughout. It may be a tad predictable but it certainly didn't ruin my enjoyment. I loved every minute of this quick read which I devoured in a matter of hours.

Zoe lives a happy life with handsome surgeon husband Ethan and their three year old hurricane Anna. Their lives are perfect...until one day a knock on the door changes everything. As soon as Zoe opens the door, she could see the teenager standing on her porch was her husband's son. There was no denying the similarities between them. What was she to do? She let him in and welcomed him into her home.

Thirteen year old Micah has had a very different life to the one he's just walked into. His drug addict mother would disappear for days on end, returning when her money ran out. But this time was different. She's been gone a week without a word and the power has been cut off. Micah had no choice but to seek out the father she had told him about and see if he would take him in...even for a short while. At least until they found his mother.

Ethan is shocked to see the boy who is clearly his son. But he knows nothing about his life and if he poses a danger to the carefully curated life he has created with Zoe, or their little daughter. But Zoe is kind and compassionate and refuses to turn her back on the child who so clearly needs to be take care of. But to Ethan, he's a stranger. Does he want him here?

It isn't long before little things begin to happen that are a little creepy, if not odd. A missing photograph later reappearing as a crafted photo-chop of Micah and his mother. Rita, his biological mother? Or Zoe, his new mother? A carefully curated collection of photos of Zoe on his laptop sends her into a tailspin. Micah is not what he appears. Why was he stalking Zoe? And what is he hiding?

When Micah's mother Rita is found dead, Zoe's heart goes out to the boy despite her growing fears about him. But does he know more about his mother's murder than he is letting on? His disturbing activities lead her to suspect this to be the case leaving her feeling torn between her committment to Ethan and her family and the realisation she has made a grave mistake in letting this child into her home.

This tale is both heartbreaking and disturbing. I felt for Micah and sympathised with his situation and yet there was also that nagging doubt as to his guilt. But of what? The further you delve into this story the more it reveals. It's shocking in a sense and yet it isn't because of its predictability. But I still lapped up every word of every page because for me it's the entertainment factor. And I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish, though I figured out the twist almost from the start it wasn't hard to, but it was still an addictive and captivating tale.

And then there was that nice little sting in the tale twist at the end...

Pros: Interesting storyline and very quick read! I didn’t guess the ending (though there were definitely clues) and I liked how fast paced it was.

Cons: Maybe a little silly, but it drove me crazy that the MC talked to herself aloud so much. I think most of her dialogue (which was when she was alone) would have made more sense it is was framed as thoughts rather than verbalized. It didn’t really make sense for her to be talking to herself aloud when she was sneaking around. This was minor, though, and just a bit annoying while reading.

This was an intense game of cat and mouse! Zoe is adjusting to a new life when the son of her husband turns up one night. She welcomes him into the family, and all seems rosy…until it’s not!

As ever with a book by Shiner, you can’t put it down! Well, struggle too! I managed to read it in the car on my travels, intrigued to see where and how dark her mind would go! Cleverly done with alternating chapters, and a lot of misdirection, leading to a chilling epilogue!

Ethan grated on me, and was very much an absent father, happy for Zoe to take the lead on everything and condensing her when he could!!! I loved Anna! I mean you can’t help but not! Micah, well you can make your own decision about him! And my namesake, well of course I rooted for her.

I am mesmerised by Emily! She is power-housing her way through the writing. I have another 2 books to read of hers! The best thing, well the writing is always engaging, the story is fresh and there is no repetitiveness. The stories just keep my attention and play on your mind completely! But this is every time!!!!

Amazing!

Starts with Zoe Sunday March 5th and time travels up as we are introduced to a new perspective of Micah. I couldn’t help feeling what I would do if I was Zoe, happy with my partner and child to the sudden shock of Micah. A teenage boy turning up and claiming to be Ethan’s son. There was slight mentions that had me speculating on Zoe’s and Ethan’s relationship and I couldn’t help thinking from the get go their relationship wasn’t as perfect as it was speculated to be. The author creates two complete different worlds from the expected family life to the worst case scenario family life. Where is Rita? Is she really a drug addicted? These questions building up only prompted me to fulfil these answers.

There’s always that shock twist when there’s a dead person thrown into the mix to build even more guessing and suspense. The characters in this book really made it for me. I think because of the age range too it felt more creeper having a teenager of my own. This isn’t the first book I’ve read by Emily Shiner and I think it’s probably up there as one of my favourites of her books. If you love a book that creeps you out, makes you doubt absolutely everything then this is definitely the read for you.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'The Better Mother' by Emily Shiner.

Read and reviewed for Emily Shiner, ZooLoos Book Tours, Netgalley and Inkubator Books..

Publication date 22nd October 2023.

This is the seventh book I have read by this author. I have also read 'The Caretaker', 'You Can't Hide', 'Her Husband's Secret's, 'I'm Following You', 'The Hotel' and 'The Wife In The Photo' and I would highly recommend each and every one of them!!

This novel consists of 47 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

Emily does it yet again!! I genuinely don't think she can make a book that I don't love!! Love, love, loved this book!!!! Absolutely gripping edge of your seat page turner!!! I mean just HOW HOW HOW can an author make each and every one of her AMAZING books EVEN BETTER each and every time???!?!?

This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions that really set the scene and put you in the storyline. The cover and synopsis suit the book perfectly.

The storyline was captivating and addictive from the first page until the last and I was completely invested in it. It was absolutely rammed full of lies, secrets, family, tension, drama, murder,  twists, suspense and everything you could ask for in a page turning psychological thriller. I just could not stop reading this absolutely addictive book from the first word to the last. Emily's extremely talented and evocative skills really brought the book to life and I was completely absorbed throughout. I lost count of the amount of times I promised myself one more chapter but that one finished in a way I just HAD to know what would happen next so I said just more and this went on and on until I ended up finishing it in one sitting!!! It was absolutely ram packed with mystery, secrets, deceit, murder, drama, hidden agendas, turns, mind blowing explosive twists, tension, suspense, and absolutely everything you could ask for in a psychological thriller. The location and atmosphere was absolutely perfect for this gripping thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I absolutely love Emily's books and am guaranteed to be shocked every time I pick one up which is not an easy feat considering how many books I read a year so a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS Emily!!! One of the things I love about her books is that they can also be quite thought provoking and always end with MASSIVE BOMBSHELLS that I absolutely love and never do see coming. Emily's evocative writing drags you deep into the storyline from the first sentence to the very last and will keep you up until the very last word! THAT ladies and gentleman is a true sign of an absolute must read. I absolutely loved the ending which was definitely an unexpected twist which is just one of the reasons I love Emily's books, she manages to get me every single time!! I've said it before about Emily's books and I shall say it again!! I would absolutely LOVE to see this turned into a movie and would wait up all night to get tickets to watch it!!

I hope your busy writing your next book Emily as I just cannot wait to see what bombshell twist and explosive storyline you have up your sleeve for us next!!!!

Do not start this book until you have cleared your schedules as you will not be able to put it down!!

The characters were all realistic and strong and I was completely invested in them throughout. I love the fact that we got to see what was happening from the points of view from not just the main protagonist Zoe but also from her husband Ethan's son Micah and as with all her amazing books Emily weaves all of the chapters together with perfect timing until it all comes together with an explosive BANG!! It also explains absolutely everything which leaves no question unanswered at the end which is a pet hate of mine!! It also leaves you questioning what is really going on and gets you thinking more and more the deeper you delve into the storyline. Emily's multiple person perspective also really helps the reader understand the characters more making them more realistic to the reader. I was completely invested in all of the characters throughout and Emily's evocative descriptions really makes them jump out of the book and come to life in front of the readers eyes. All of the characters were multi layered with complex personalities which definitely made them all the more interesting to read about!!! Unfortunately, I really can not say anymore as I don't want to spoil it for future readers. I had no idea what to think of Micah, what was really going on or where it was all leading which just goes to show what a talented author Emily is and I cannot wait to get hooked into her next psychological thriller which is guaranteed to be another page turner!! Regardless of what I thought about who, each character worked perfectly to make this page turning psychological thriller!!!

Congratulations Emily on yet ANOTHER huge success. This is the exact reason why you are in my favourite 5 authors list!! Here's to your next guaranteed success 🥂!!

Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue and first chapter of Emily's 'The Promise' which is guaranteed to be just as addictive as this book and another amazing book by Emily that I cannot wait to get stuck into!!

Overall an absolutely unputdownable, action packed, intriguing psychological thriller that will keep you up at night on the edge of your seat with a pounding heart!!

While Zoe Eathan and three-year-old little Annie are getting ready to eat there dinner of cordon bleu someone knocks on the door when Zoe goes to answer it and the boy at the door says that he thinks Eathan is his dad Zoe knows it’s true he looks exactly like him his name is Mika and he is a pleasant amiable 13-year-old boy who seems to just want a family his mom Rita is a drug addict and he tells Eathan and Zoe that she disappears but that she has never been gone this long and he is hungry and they don’t have any electricity Zoe has mixed emotions about taking the boy and she knows it’s the right thing to do and despite Eathan telling her they can send him to Child protection Zoe says no this is your child will take care of him. It isn’t long before she starts getting weird feelings about Mika The first day she brings him to school he starts calling her mom he immediately tells 3-year-old Annie that he is her brother and Zoe doesn’t know why but she isn’t comfortable with any of it before long she finds disturbing things she realizes Michael has lied about where he lived but what she finds on his computer really gives her the heebie-jeebies and when they find his mom Rita murdered and upon telling him he seems to have no emotion about it at all. Eathan thinks he just needs a good psychiatrist to work out his childhood but Zoe knows there’s something way more sinister going on with teenage Mika. I love Emily Shriners books but this one not so much. I couldn’t believe how focused she was about having such a perfect life there were many things that irritated me about Zoe I didn’t think the whole concept of the book was a great one and the end was really good but some of what Zoe freaked out about I thought she was being a bit dramatic either way a lot of people love this book I only liked it but if you like a good thriller this isn’t a bad way to pass the time. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The Better Mother is a doozy of a book. It's one of those thrillers where you're hoping everything is just big misunderstanding. And when you start realizing what the truth is, if you're like me, you'll be saying, "I knew it!" But then... then you get that twist at the very, very end. And oh boy, does that hit you like a punch right to the gut.
This story follows a perfect little family consisting of Zoe, Ethan, and their little daughter Anna. Everything is wonderful. Ethan is a busy surgeon at the hospital, and Zoe is a stay-at-home mom who used to be a nurse at the hospital. They love each other and their daughter, and all is right with their little world. Until one day, it's not...
Enter Micah, a teenage boy who says he's Ethan's son. His mom dated Ethan in college and never told him she was pregnant. And now she's missing, so Micah needs help. But Ethan isn't keen on Micah staying. Zoe, however, feels bad for him, and refuses to let Ethan send his son away. She invites Micah to stay with them while the police in investigate his mother's disappearance. Soon, though, Zoe starts to regret inviting Micah to stay.
Did Micah have something to do with his mother's disappearance? Could Zoe and her family be in danger too?
As Zoe struggles to piece together the truth about Micah and his mom, she comes to realize that some secrets were never meant to see the light of day.
I absolutely loved this book. It was kinda stressful, but I enjoyed trying to figure out what was really going on. Zoe frustrated me a bit with her whole jumping to conclusions thing that she kept doing. I understood where she was coming from, but she seemed to do it a bit too much. Instead of maybe trying to talk to Micah or her husband or anyone else, she internalized everything and then stressed and worried about it all. I get it. But it still annoyed me at times.
I can't say too much more, because I honestly don't want to spoil anything. But The Better Mother was one exciting thriller that kept me guessing, and even then, it surprised me right there at the very end.
This one, for me, was a rare 5-star read. Check it out!

First, I want to thank Emily Shiner, Inkubator Books and Zooloo’s Book Tours for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

WOW!!! Emily Shiner you are on a role this year girl!! You completely outdo yourself with every book that you write! Your latest psychological thriller The Better Mother is totally addicting that once you start it you can’t put it down!! It is an extremely fast paced, suspenseful, thrilling, nail biting with twists you won’t see coming! It is a book that you will want to put on your tbr list!

Anna was the cutest little 3 year old ever! She instantly had me smiling and cracking up laughing. She was just the sweetest ever! Definitely stole the show!

I too would be in total utter shock if some boy showed up out of the blue claiming to be your husband’s son!! So many questions that needed answers of who, why, and more importantly where was his Mother?! Oh this storyline was creepy and perfect for this time of year!

Emily threw a massive curveball into the dramatic climax that was just jaw dropping! I never ever saw that coming!

Wow I loved this book and just finished it all in one sitting I loved Micah he was so adorable and Zoe was such a good mom to him I was very emotionally gripped to this thriller but I was surprised Ethan was the killer of Rita Micah’s mother along yes she wasn’t a good woman Rita but Ethan could’ve done it better but didn’t with his lies to Zoe also you can tell he didn’t care a lot for his son…

I fell in love with Shiner writing style it gave me the child in my house kinda vibes and I just love thrillers about children also Micah did remind me a lot of my character Daniel Tommy’s little brother because they’re both same age anyway the boys are different but I saw Daniel in Micah a lot that’s what made me love him more if I get to Micah again in a sequel I would definitely love it

This book will take you take you on an emotional rollercoaster — it will tear you apart. A mother’s love is everything. And a mother will do anything to protect her own. Truer word have never been spoken. Although Anna’s desire to help her husbands newly found son is endearing, it’s also a little creepy. Micah is a little odd, to say the least, but he doesn’t go over-the-edge psycho in any visible form. What happened to Rita, Micah’s mother? Why is Anna’s husband so set against his biological child staying with them until they can find her? Why does Anna so effortlessly allow this strange teenager to take up residence with them? This book left me wanting more. An author I have never read before, but have added to my list of authors to keep my eye out for.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The story is very low in action and fairly low in suspense, since the whole book basically involves a mother trying to work out whether or not her husband's newly found son is a threat to her and her daughter. For me, this was completely predictable, but I was never bored. Some people might be surprised by one of the twists towards the end. Decent read. 3.5 stars.

I received an advance reader's copy for free in exchange for an honest review.

One sentence review: A fast-paced mystery, not the best I've read, but worth reading once.

I read this book in one sitting. It is a fast-paced, quick read, and I can definitely say I enjoyed reading it. Micah was a great character, and I liked his relationship with Anna, and getting to see into his head - seeing how he's a broken child who is a little too attached to his new family.

Now, the problem is... I just wasn't buying it. The blurb already sets Micah up as the killer, so I knew it was a possibility, but at the beginning of the book it felt like Zoe was freaking out about perfectly normal and understandable things. Oh, the neglected and traumatized boy longing for a family gets attached to your kid because he always wanted a little sister? Yeah, girl, that's like, normal.

So even later when actual creepy things started happening, it just felt like Zoe overreacting because of the beginning. Micah felt like an obvious red herring instead of the actual killer throughout the book, so there was no tension.

Now, whether he still ended up being the killer or not... You'll just have to read and see for that. But either way, the build-up wasn't there for me.

No Ending

Emily usually has me gripped to the very end, but, with The Better Mother, she leaves you hanging. She makes her story line open for your mind to finish what you think of Micah.
I like storylines with an ending!

Book Blurb:
Zoe just wanted to help. Now she may have a killer in her home.

Zoe is happily married to Ethan until the day a 13-year-old boy shows up on their doorstep. He says his name is Micah and that Ethan is his father. Distressed because his mother is missing, Micah has come to them for help. Ethan is wary – he didn’t know anything about Micah - but kind-hearted Zoe feels she can’t possibly turn her back on the boy. She welcomes him into their home and does her best to make him part of the family.

But there’s something off about Micah. He lies constantly, creeps silently around the house and towers over Zoe, observing her every move. And his growing bond with Anna, Zoe’s young daughter, feels all wrong. So when his mother's body is found and the police start looking for the murderer, Zoe realizes something terrible…

Review:
Thank you to Zoe at Zooloos Book Tours for my spot on the tour!
This book sounded absolutely brilliant when I received the tour invite, and after devouring The Promise by the same author, I couldn’t wait to dig in to this, it is safe to say I had high expectations and wow… Emily Shiner really didn’t disappoint.

I loved how we were thrown into the story straight away, everything seemed to kick off and it felt like I was right in the middle of it. I instantly had a bad feeling about Ethan, the husband, as he seemed too perfect? I was excited to see if anything would come of this!

As for Micah, I had such a rollercoaster ride with this character! At times I felt sorry for him, that I’d give him a hug myself, but then he also unsettled me, especially how he seemed to ‘settle’ in too quickly. Then I was cheering for him until I hated him. Very, very cleverly plotted by the author.
I devoured this in one sitting, the chapters weren’t overly long which made it easy to keep saying to myself just one more. The story was also told from the perspective of Zoe and Micah and I really enjoyed being in both their heads, especially Michah’s as he did have me feeling very unnerved at times.

I was hooked throughout, I could really feel the atmosphere and I was practically on the edge of my seat waiting for a climax, and I must say, I didn’t see that one coming at all, despite any suspicions I had on and off throughout. As for the ending, let’s just say, I put the book down still feeling unsettled, so kudos to Emily for this!
Another fantastic book, by a fantastic author!

Zoe, driven by her desire to be compassionate and caring, made a selfless decision to welcome her husband’s long-lost son into their home despite him being a stranger. Little did she know that this act of kindness would soon spiral into a web of danger and uncertainty. When the son’s mother is tragically found dead, Zoe’s worst fears come crashing down upon her as she questions whether she has unknowingly invited a murderer into her sanctuary. The unsettling discovery of the son’s involvement in peculiar and disturbing activities only fuels Zoe’s growing suspicion, leaving her torn between her commitment to her family and the possibility that she may have made an irreparable mistake.

As I delved into the pages of this book, I found myself helplessly ensnared in its gripping narrative. The words possess an irresistible allure, compelling me to devour every spare moment with this mesmerizing story. However, being an ardent lover of suspenseful thrillers, I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of disappointment in the predictability that permeated the plot.

While the book undeniably provided an enjoyable and entertaining read, I yearned for a conclusion that would have caught me off guard. This twist would have defied all expectations and left me breathless with astonishment. Despite this minor setback, the book’s undeniable allure and captivating storytelling held me captive until the last page.

Thank you to Zoé from ZooLoo’s Book Tours and Inkubator Books for allowing me to read and review this book.

Once again, we have another brilliant psychological thriller by Emily, who never fails to grab my attention.

I've read a few books now and every one has been a brilliant as the last, giving me everything I'd want from this genre.

In this book, Zoe and Ethan are shocked when 13year old Micah comes knocking and claims to be Ethan's son. His mother has gone missing and he needs help.
Although shocked, the couple invite Micah into their home while they help him - but soon, they realise that all is not quite right with Micah and when the police reveal that his mother has been murdered, alarm bells start to ring.

It's no surprise that I was hooked from just seeing the cover, the author name and reading the blurb!

Although it's pretty obvious how this will go, this does not detract from the enjoyment of reading at all! And of course, it's packed with twists that will keep you second guessing too.
Emily's writing is fast-paced and exciting, with short chapters that make it so easy to keep reading on until late.

The characters here were interesting to explore. The dynamics between the couple as Micah enters the picture giving us that uncomfortable vibe - but also the creepy atmosphere that follows Micah around as we work through the book, kept me on edge throughout.

Another brilliant read to add to my growing list by this author. Can't wait to see what I find in the next one.
