Ion know what K.C. Mills is currently goin’ through but, I’ma need her to let that hurt go and stop taking it out on us. Baby, the way I boo hoo’d at the end of this book. 😭😭😭 I’m just heartbroken. I’m feeling real naïve right now because, I did not see that ending coming. Imagine going to bed alone then, waking up to an injured hitman sitting in your living room. Imagine being held at gunpoint and forced to nurse said hitman back to health. That's the precarious situation McKenna finds herself in. After he was set up and almost killed on his last hit, Carter is forced to go into hiding until he can figure out who betrayed him and McKenna's house is his new home for the next three days while he heals and recover. Mckenna and Carter are your quintessential star-crossed lovers. She knows what he does for a living doesn’t necessarily make him a good guy and that makes him no good for her but, that doesn’t stop her attraction to him. For Carter, his lifestyle is just too dangerous to even consider bringing McKenna into his world. The heart wants what the heart but, in this case, fate pulled up and said “Aht aht! Both of y’all find somebody else.” Twenty-Four Three was a good read. It’s the perfect forced proximity with plenty of chemistry and sexual tension. But, be warned. This book is definitely going to lure you into a false sense of HEA.
Right place, wrong time!…… Let me preface my review by saying that y’all are so aggy and dramaticccccc 😩😩😩!!!! Obviously the ending of this book as circulated throughout the literary world and has caused an uproar because we didn’t get the HEA y’all felt we deserved. Well I may be on the opposite end of the spectrum because I enjoyed the story and the ending was very appropriate for the situation McKenna and Carter were in.
Listen if somebody wake me up out of my sleep at gunpoint to mend their gunshot wounds I KNOW the rapture is near because chyyyyyyyy NO!!! K.C what you been watching lately because these two recent novellas have been straight off Showtime!!! I’m loving the unique storylines that you’re giving us! It’s always refreshing when we get something new so kudos to you on that!
McKenna and Carter knew that they had no place in each others worlds! This was a clear case of logic ruling instead of the hearts desires. No good would’ve come out of any other alternative for this couple and after 3 days, there was not a deep enough connection formed that would justify the risks they would have been taking. They only thing I wish, is that she wouldn’t have settled. She should’ve opted to be single until she found who truly made her happy! Overall I really enjoyed this quick, world wind read!
Whenever I finish one of K.C. Mills's short stories, I find myself wanting more of the characters. After three days with a mystery dangerous man, Kenni and Carter are left wondering what they want out of life. I mean, after only three days, I've become convinced that Carter and Kenni are destined to spend the rest of their lives together; it makes no difference to me what kind of work Carter does. We need to make it work.
Waking up to someone breaking into your home, mistaking you for a nurse, and making your house a hideout for 3 days is a wild opener! But this is what Carter did to McKenna after being shot. This close proximity and fake enemies to lovers was something so different. I felt hope for the romance after they opened up to one another and by Day 2 the first bomb was dropped on us with a phone call from her mom. Day 3 another bomb by text to Carter’s phone. With the history of Carter and McKenna's recent past, the cards were stacked high against them. I hate it here and I'll say y'all need to read this book to find out where the story ends! Definitely not a HEA or HFN but I also can't name what this is. That last chapter messed me up completely! KC Mills has these novellas on lock and is dropping straight fire in under 100 pages! Yall need to read this book!
I think I loved this book too much and it's slightly concerning lol🤔.
Carter found himself in a bind and he had to get off the grid because he was unsure of how his operation was compromised. It led him to McKenna, someone he didn't know at all but would forever change him. His entire life he had no real connections, because the life he led was unsafe and he didn't want anyone's blood on his hands. As he is laying low with feisty McKenna, she realizes she should be scared of the man that has bombarded her space...instead she is intrigued, attracted even. They spend three days together, just being normal. The lines get blurred and suddenly they both are thinking about more....something Carter's life won't allow them to have 😫.
Lawd this was a perfectly written story. We love a HEA, but I loved the creativity of the story line and the connection that was felt in such a short time.
I'm so heartbroken by the ending of the book. 😭😭 It was a great read, right from the beginning. I knew I would love it. Despite Carter breaking into Kenni's home and his demand that she care for him, they had amazing chemistry. I feel like their connection was built up so well, only to be torn apart in the end. But I understand why😩
I actually really liked this book. Unfortunately I’m still in a slump just trynna keep my kindle streak going but this interested me enough to read more. I’m not sure if for the next book it’ll take me a day to read but if not I will finish it.
How would you feel if you’re suddenly woken up by a stranger in your house demanding you help his boss? That’s the situation McKenna found herself in.. Carter is a boss in every aspect, he’s respected, deadly, and thorough but he was caught slipping.
This short story was interesting; it had a darkness to it, but also had moments that were sweet. I truly think if Carter and McKenna had met in a different lifetime, things would have gone a different direction. There was clear chemistry between them and the close proximity made it challenging for them to not cross the line. I mean—I would have lost all self-control too, so I understand McKenna’s situation. lol
I liked the story, three days with a stranger put things into perspective for both characters. I think both walked away with a mutual understanding that what they had was temporary, but it was a moment they both needed. I enjoyed this book!
i wish this was longerrrr.😭 have you ever had a connection with someone that you truly believed in but the lifestyle that comes with them isnt good for you? thats the connection made between mckenna & carter in just three days! i wish we could've gotten more from them.. a little bit more background on mckenna and carter but the parts we did get brought the story full circle. sometimes the happy endings dont exist. sometimes you meet someone only for them to be a part of your past. whew chile.
Aaaand yeah I knew what I was getting into but still... I was so sad at the ending. Like my mind knows that three days isn't enough time but when you know you know!
After some time of sitting with the ending of the book I realized I was upset at the wrong THING! Why my girl settle for thattttt? Like I wanted her to really enjoy herself and wait or find literally anybody else. Like ANYBODY!
My biggest praise to K.C. because getting me this emotionally invested after less than 100 pages is crazy-in the best of ways. I loved this novella and it's definitely one of my favorite novellas I have ever read.
K.C Mills why make me like this book a lot just for you to end off on them like this so wickedly, now they’re up in the air of so many possibilities. I need a part 2 pleaseeeee !!! Don’t leave it like this 😂 imma pray on this part 2‼️
Damn K.C., why did this read feel like I was watching a movie? McKenna is awakened at an ungodly hour, by two strange men in her house. One demanding that she allows him to stay there with her a few days, and she take care of his wound. What??? How they get in here? Who are they? Once the shock wears off McKenna turns that scared woman on its head and is sassy as hell.
Carter needs an unassuming place to lay low, while he figures things out, and recovers. McKenna's place is ideal, because she is a nurse. Well...... Carter never made connections or built relationships, as they were always a liability. But there was something about McKenna that was making him rethink all his plans. Their chemistry was hot and came on fast and furious.
Mckenna should not be attracted to this dangerous man, but she is, and believe it or not, he makes her feel safe. Wanting to help Carter with his situation, she puts him up on game that he never considered. After talking some things out with Brooks, the answers fall into place, and he needs to leave to protect her. But can he walk away?
This story was short, and a bit intense; but had us rooting for these two. I need more of Carter ma'am! I surely hope these two get a full-length story in the near future.
I’ve always admired KC Mills’ pen, but this book just solidified her as GOAT status in my opinion.
I’m reeling from this short, whirlwind story, while grappling with the strong connection and emotions this book managed to evoke in less than 100 pages!!
Carter and Kenni met in such an unconventional way, yet their journey and evolution felt so organic and fully developed. However, the ending left me feeling like WTH?!😂🫢
I’m convinced we’ll see them again. We have to right? Book Gawds, please help us! 🤞🏾😂
As a prelude it does its job. Snappy, quick pace, cool characters as a complete novella it fails spectacularly. This ends without a resolution to to romance not even as a HFN. The romance build could have been tighter and the ex boyfriend is irksome tool to have
Like why? Why is she so petty. She didn’t even have to do us like that. It’s like when you about to cum and he just gets up and walks away! Like I know you lying? She tried it. Got me over here don’t know how to feel! Outstanding
I had to shed a tear, and listen to We Belong Together! I need a glass of whiskey and a cigarette! I’m down bad… real bad! Maybe next life time for them….
It was a twist on lust/live at first sight and yet not getting whom you really want. I wish we go a bit more in some parts but it it a very quick read.
This was a good little short story that left me feeling a way! Loved Kenni’s smart mouth and Carter’s ability to read her so well. He seems sexy as heck too. Ready for book two but I’m going to be some mad if Brooks isn’t legit!
Carter takes over McKenna's house and forces her to help him recover from an injury. Mistaken identity leads to three days in close proximity with a dangerous man. He promises to leave her physically unharmed, but what about the rest of her?
This was a heavy and suspenseful short that kept me engaged. Carter Reed is the best at what he does, snatching souls with his g*n and his d*ck and it's so captivating. McKenna held her ground and gave as good as she got. And she made an addict out of him too. I knew there was nowhere for the two of them to go, but I was still sad about it. And even with the ending, it was satisfying as hell.
What a way to be woken up. McKenna Smith, a unit clerk at the hospital, was awakened to find a handsome stranger who has been shot her house. Carter Reed , a hitman, finds himself in the last position he wanted to be in hunted and wounded. He has to depend on McKenna to save his life. In the 3 days these two spent together the dynamics shift quickly. Forced proximity and sexual tension is a recipe for a good time. Injured and all Carter didn’t hold back on McKenna. He turns out to be what she never knew she wanted or needed but they can’t exist in the same world. Being a hitman is a lonely life. 3 days 24 hours the connection was so pure and left me wanting more. Overall 4.5/5 K.C. Last two novellas got me wanting more from both couples.
Somebody get K.C. Mills on the phone right now because I want to fight her! 😂😮💨
I read the first page a few months ago and started to read something else so I doubled back and decided to read this and I was thoroughly impressed. The development of this story was very good and the timeline of events flowed so well.
I don’t know how I went from hating Carter in the beginning to loving him at the end of this book. Maybe it was the BDE he was giving? 🤷🏽♀️
Kenni and Carters “relationship” was probably one of my favorite things about this book. I don’t know if I can say that they went from friends to lovers? 😢
I don’t care what anyone else says. I want a part 2 this story. 🥹
What would you do if you were held against your will by a wounded stranger for 3 days? Why you catch feelings, of course! I’m not sure if I felt chemistry so to speak between the two main characters but there was definite intrigue and interest on both parts. Which I think is realistic. Given that this is a prequel, so to speak it gave me enough to want to read the next book to see exactly how things play out.
