I was lucky enough to receive this as an ARC and I’m here writing my review seconds after finishing Written in Blood.
I didn’t read Written in Stone too long ago and as soon as I finished it, I knew I immediately needed more books in the series. The moment this hit my kindle library, I knew I’d be reading it cover to cover within 24 hours of starting it and that’s just what I did.
I already know I won’t be able to stop thinking about this book. BRAVO A.D. Wilde, you’ve done it again! I am HOOKED!
We got to know a little bit about Harper and Zak in the first book in the Sweetwater series but it did not prepare me for everything that unfolded within Written in Blood.
The MMC’s in this series are EVERYTHING. They are as morally grey as they come but the softness they have for the women in their lives is perfect.
We have another book full to the brim of great tropes:
Slow Burn Enemies to Lovers Forced Proximity Touch her and ☠️ Dual POV Morally Grey Navy Seal Mercenaries
I don’t have a bad word. This series is EVERYTHING and I am OBSESSED!
Harper and Zak definitely didn’t understand who one another were as people, definitely a lot of misunderstanding between the two. They had an insane connection that took them over 4 years to explore with one another.
Zak has stole my heart, if he jumped out of my book I’d be on my fucking knees for him!!
OHMYGOD! First of all, I’m so happy I got the opportunity to be about to read Written in Blood as an arc, after Written in Stone I fell in love with each character, main and side and this book was a delicious squeal into the story of Harper and Zak. Who doesn’t love an ex-navy mercenary?
AND MY GOD IS IT A WILD RIDE!!!!!
I love the complexity of harper and everything she embodies. Zak and Haper keep you on the edge of your seat, will they? Won’t they? You literally will never know … until you KNOW. But one thing is certain, no one messes with the Sweetwater family and lives to tell the tale.
Tropes 🌶️ slow burn – semi fast pace 🌶️ forced proximity 🌶️ enemies to lovers 🌶️ morally grey 🌶️ dual pov 🌶️ Pierced MMC
Trigger warnings 🌶️ SA 🌶️ torture 🌶️ violence 🌶️ human trafficking / drugs
y'all, A.D. Wilde did not come to play with this book 🥵🔥
after the first book, Written in Stone, i couldn't wait to see how this one would go and wow she DIDN'T disappoint me.
the enemies to lovers trope was perfectly executed here and you could feel how incredible the tension, the angst, the bickering, and the chemistry between these two.
this was almost perfect, but there was one scene that was too ick for me. he could choke, gag, handcuff, whatever it is, but when he spit in her mouth... i just couldn't handle it. I'M SORRY.
overall, Written in Blood was amazing. i loved this book so much. Sweetwater series has become one of my favorite series ever, and i felt so connected with all the characters - Joel, Stella, Zak, Harper, Sloane, and my baby Liam. i've been more than curious about Liam's book, but i'll be patiently waiting here cause i know it will be worth the wait . 🖤
I am going to start this off by saying I SAW IT COMING!! 👀
First and foremost, this is an Arc review in wish I am leaving my review voluntarily. Secondly, ALWAYS check the trigger warnings! 🤍
I could not wait to receive this book ever since I finished the first book in the Sweetwater Series, Written in Stone. I was so hooked on Harper and Zak from the start but getting see their relationship as they are now together was amazing. I loved the build up to the climax and the dialogue, however, I found there was aspects rushed. For instance, the ending. There were also times where I felt the storyline focus on the main characters physical traits rather than the mental and emotional that developed in the relationship.
My favorite thing is learning more about each character and their development. Harper was mysterious, bad-As$, and independent. With Zak in the picture now, she is more soft but still herself. Zak, to me was a little bit of a softy, a dark, yet beautiful softy. We see his empathetic side to him in the book and it made me love him more. Spoilers *first couple chapters/Taylors scene. * I believe they truly are a perfect fit for each other.
My favorite has to be Harper’s lovely grandmother though. Just found myself smiling more when she came in.
I don’t know which book in the series I enjoyed more but I cannot wait for my own physical copies and I will be rereading them both!
A.D. being a new author there are always room for improvements but I can truly say her work is amazing and I cannot wait to read the next book to the Sweetwater Series and get to see more on Liam. The mysterious Liam 🤨
Thank you A.D. for giving me the opportunity and chance to read it!
First I would like to thank A.D Wilde for allowing me to ARC read this book!
Written in blood follows Stella’s best friend, Harper who after many years of pushing men away when they get close and building walls around her heart, decides to settle down with the newest member of the Sweetwater Security team. Little does she know, he has a dark secret and isn’t the man he thinks he is, deep down.
This book took me on a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed and I cried throughout this book. All through this book, I felt as if I was there with Harper, feeling her emotions as my own. Oh, and the spice level was excellent! This has easily made it to my list of favorite reads! I really hope that the story continues on with these characters or maybe even some of the other sexy men we have met so far in this series!
**Please Read The Trigger Warnings** There are dark themes and scenes that are graphic and can be disturbing to some. I suggest reading book 1 first; Written in Stone. Some things in book 2 will make more sense that way. I can't stop thinking about this book.
Holy crap, A.D., you did it again.
Harper, who is Stella's best friend mentioned in book 1, gets herself into a relationship with Cam, the new guy at Sweetwater. After a while and a series of burning flags, Harper finds herself in a very, very bad situation. Zak may be her only way to survive if she would just let her 'hatred' go. Harper may be his only real reason to keep going if he would accept it. Both are stubborn as hell and refuse to accept what they feel and what they know, in various situations, but when it comes to Zak and Harper, will they be able to see the truth before it's too late?
The detail put into this story really puts you into Zak and Harper's minds and allowing everything else to encase you in their lives. Written in Blood flows effortlessly. (no pun intended, but it fits) I was on the edge of my seat and felt all the emotions at any given time. It's definitely one of my top series of 2023.
The spice is a messy slow burn until halfway through, but when it comes, it's there and on point. 🌶🌶🌶🌶
This is book two in the series however they’re also like a standalone, but I recommend reading the first book so it makes more sense. Also check TW !!!
In this book we get to see about Stella’s best friend, Harper. If you want to read more about Stella than you have to read book1, it’s an amazing quick read just like this one. You really get so fast through the books it’s amazing written and has an even more amazing storyline🫶🏼
Harper is a bit complicated since she is very stubborn and usually builds walls around her when somone is getting closer to her. But with zak everything is different… Their love story starts off with them being more of enemies than any kind of friends or lovers but as time passes they get more and more along and the process of them getting to know each other is a long processes, but Wort it I mean who doesn’t want a enemies to lovers with slowburn🤭 Also their miscommunication is more of the main the reason to their enemies to lovers and slow burn, but you’ll get to read about their story and it’s definitely a very passionate and amazing book🤭🤭 But zak is not a simple man and is not the man she thinks he is… so what is his so big secret ? And will this secret destroy their connection?
To find out more about them and their secrets go and read this 😌
📚 Written in Blood : ⭐️⭐️⭐️,5 #2 Sweetwater Zak & Harper 🩶

I am loving this series and would definitely recommend it.
Book 1 was a little too fast burn for my taste but WIB is definitely more of a slow burn which I love.
I feel like Harper and Zak’s “enemies” vibe is sorta due to a misunderstanding about who the other person is as a person, which isn’t my favorite way to play that trope, but I did still enjoy their dynamic and relationship.
I love how the MMC’s in this series are badass alphas but still gentle with their girls (when they need to be… otherwise, not so much).
Harper was a likable FMC and we definitely saw her grow throughout the story.
Also, her grandma was such a cute side character.
This is a dark romance so, as always, please check your trigger warnings.
Harper and Zak can’t stand each other. Yet they are drawn to each other.
Harper is finally ready to settle down and ends up dating the new guy Cameron on the Sweetwater Team. She is trying to make it work (she feels like something is off, but she just thinks it is because she has never been a relationship before).
Zak thinks Harper is gorgeous but he knows the she reels men in only to drop them like flies. But he has a bad feeling about Cameron but can’t figure it out.
I love that Zak and Harper play “Truth or Dare” and that they bicker all the time! Loved this couple. Can’t wait for the next book!
I wanted to like this so much. Full disclosure I didn’t read book 1 in the series & began here with book 2.
The transitions from what is happening at home to the mmc going on mission felt so awkward, the whole aspect of his career/missions didn’t seem cohesive. The chemistry between the fmc & mmc wasn’t there for me, the tension was great in the start but the slip into more just didn’t sit well - sort of felt too forced.
This may be a case of ~right book, wrong time~ or maybe just wasn’t the book for me.
Written in Blood is the 2nd book of the Sweetwater Series. After Harper (Stella's BF) and Zak (Joel Friend/Co-worker) were mentioned several times in Written in Stone (1st book of the Series), i was like "Jepp, they both need a book".
I loved Harper since i read about her. She is tough, strong, independent, sassy with a smart mouth and uses men for her own good. But behind all of her characteristics she hides her true personality. OMG Harper's grandmother is just a cutie pie. Harper wants happiness and with Cameron (side character) she thinks she found it buuuuut...
Zak, Zak Zak his mouth should be illegal 😏. He is overprotective, possessive and morally gray. Because he knows Harpers personality he always tries to push himself away from her to not fall for Harper but always protects her. And everything starts with the game *Dare or True". Geeezzz this kiss under the rain, i was like finally.
I loved the story/book. A. D. Wilde didn't disappoint, it was like i expected even more. This is really a Enemies to Lovers story. The character development between Zak and Harper was on top, perfect. Can't wait to read about Liam, my totally gray man. Sloan, Sloan can't wait for her story too.
Do i recommend this book? A BIG YES.
A. D. Wilde thanks for the opportunity to be in your ARC Team, i really appreciate it and really enjoyed the writing.
A.D Wilde did it again. I repeat She f***** did it again!!! Her first book Written in Stone, had me floored. I had absolutely loved it so when I got a chance to be on her ARC team, I was ecstatic to read the second of this series Written in Blood. When I read a book and it is absolutely amazing I cannot put it down. I have to read it until I finish otherwise I sit there and all I do is think about it until I pick it up again. I absorb absolutely everything it gives me, creating the pictures in my mind, and the storyline everything that has to offer me a grasp onto. With that being said, here is my review…
This storyline was absolutely amazing, it was heartbreaking and bold. I thought that my heart was literally going to shatter while reading some of the most heartbreaking things. With that being said, please make sure you check trigger warning because it is dark. The main characters, Harper and Zak work hard to overcome a lot with just their natural hardheadedness and strong minded attitudes. Harper being the absolute Spitfire that she is definitely one of my favorite characters yet. This book is a MUST read. And because it’s not out yet until November 14 I cannot reveal anything else but I will tell you that you will not be disappointed.
I cannot wait to see what A.D Wilde has in store for us next. Her future is full of opportunity and I’m so excited to watch it all come to life. I also cannot wait to get my actual copy of this book so I can place it on my pretty bookshelf next to the other and also just so I can read it again! This was a 10 out of 10 for me.
Wowwwww! She has done it again! I loved this SO much and absolutely sped through it. With the amazing characters, plot and suspense, I was invested instantly✨
We follow mmc Zak and our fmc Harper, and I adored them both. They were so well written, I felt like I really knew them. The character development was just SOMETHING else, the amount of growth in this book was so heartwarming🥹
From book 1 I could already feel the tension so it was great to finally have their story. Zak and Harper are TRUE enemies to lovers, and Zak was just the best to Harper. He would do anythinggg for her❤️🔥
Again, like book 1 the spice was SPICING! it was amazing and I was LIVING for it🤭 From the characters to the spice and suspense I really loved this and I 110% recommend this series🖤 Thank you SO SO much A.D.Wilde for the arc🩷
ps: read the dedicated…..(that was all I needed to be obsessed with this book from the start)👀
🩷slow burn 🖤enemies to lovers 🩷forced proximity 🖤first person dual pov 🩷touch her and ☠️ 🖤spicy
I was not expecting to love Zak as much as I did! The tension and chemistry between him and our main girl Harper was electric and magnificently written. Harper was her quirky sassy self as seen in the first book and seeing things from her point of view a lot of the time made me chuckle.
This book had me feeling every emotion on the roster one minute I was giggling the next I was crying but omg I wouldn’t change a thing. The character development and love between this two characters was just magic!
A.d. left me speechless with this book. I just knew zak would have his hands full with Harper from the first book, written in stone. They are truly the billboard for enemies to lovers! Their chemistry was through the roof! I know I said Joel is my ultimate book boyfriend but Zak is very close to taking that spot. The spice, the emotions, protectiveness, and snarky bickering just made me love this book so freaking much. Please don't skip over the TW'S because it's heavy!!!
Who knew a playboy and a heartbreaker could be the perfect pair. Zak and Harper may have "hated" each other but once they confronted those feelings it was all downhill from there.
When Harper was younger, she got her heart broken by some guy and ever since then if a relationship got too serious, she would break it off just to preserve her heart. You can't get hurt if you don't give your heart. Right? But when Zak was sent to protect her a few years ago, he got under her skin, just like she got under his and they have been fighting it ever since. When you see the stuff Zak sees on the daily, it's no wonder he remains single and cold. But when a teammate starts showing interest in Harper, Zak's cold exterior starts to warm up for her and he lets his jealousy show. And when something happens to Harper, he goes full blown physco trying to hunt that guy down.
These Sweetwater Boys are just something else. First, we had Joel in Written in Stone, and he was just quiet and broody. A perfect mix of hard and "scary" on the outside and a giant teddy bear on the inside. Now we get Zak and the things he does for Harper just makes you swoon. He went from keeping her at a distance to being her one and only and her protector. I love how much he cares for her and makes her his entire world. And Harper is just as badass. She doesn't let what happened to her define her. Yeah, she's scared but she knows she has Zak to protect and love her. And when Zak was gone, she only found comfort by being in his house, in his bed, surrounded by his scent. Liam's story is next and he's the one I'm looking forward to the most. He's the quiet one of the group. Doesn't talk much but is protective of the ones he cares about. He has demons and I can't wait to see what they are.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5
⚠️CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS ⚠️ This is a Dark Romance and it has some very difficult content.
This is book two on The Sweetwater Series! It is a standalone, but will be better if you read them in order.
What a rollercoaster of emotions! Book 1 was amazing but this one, is just out of this world! What an amazing beautiful, raw and hard love story. AD Wilde delivered this books even better than the first one, if I could give this book a 6 ⭐️ I would! It is without a doubt on my top dark romance reads. I just loved Zac & Sloane story so much. A strong, hardheaded FMC and a cocky, grumpy but sweet as they come MMC. The energy between the characters are amazing, the tension the waiting, it will have you on edge. It is a slow burn BUT when you get to that first scene MY GOD - HOLD yourself cuz it’s coming and it hits you HARD and Mr. Shepard has a delicious, filthy mouth on him. I can tell you he will steal your heart, he for sure stole mine. I love how you got sneak peaks of Zac & Sloane on book one, and you could clearly notice the hate/love relationship they had, and it will continue on book two, always bantering and on each other throws. The back and for fighting and bickering will have you laughing but also mad because of the energy between them. It just delicious and extraordinary and the story plot is so so good!!!
Overall I am obsessed with this series and I cannot wait for book number three. AD Wilde knows how to deliver her characters so well, the books will have you wanting more every time you finish.
This book was written in 2023. Why are we still spending far too much time and energy writing a female character for the purpose of slut shaming her through 75% of it? Harper slept around. As far as I can tell, she didn't date the men whose hearts she apparently shattered with the intention of breaking them. So that sounds like an adult man not being able to control his emotions. Zak does the same exact thing as Harper. He sleeps around. He didn't call a woman post-hook up and she got upset about it. How is that any different? Harper was very open and vocal about not wanting to love any of the men she was with.
Dealing with the hypocritical vitriol from Zak constantly throughout this book really negated any potential for me liking him as a MMC. He was cruel with his words and his actions. He went out of his way to scare Harper on multiple occasions so he could make her back off from flirting with him. Yes, Harper needed therapy. But after what she went through, I think letting a woman make some choices about how it's handled is better than being a massive dick.
The plot itself was interesting. I really wish we had more with the mercenary missions because when the characters were separate, I didn't wish as much harm to Zak as I did when they were together. Also, Joel pulling Harper aside to tell her to not hurt Zak was stupid. No one cares about the woman that was attacked? No one pulled Zak (the manwhore) aside to tell him to be gentle with Harper.
I was going to rate this 3 stars because the writing isn't horrible and the plot was interesting, but the more I think about Zak and how much I hate him, the more I think 3 stars is too generous.
I received this as an ARC so my review is completely voluntary. If you have triggers please please make sure you read over A.D. Wilde’s warnings. Unless you’re like me and you have no triggers then please read on. THis book is the second installment in the Sweetwater Series, Zak and Harper’s story, and damn it did not disappoint. The only reason it took so long to read this is because I am a mom of three and barely have enough time to read anything. But finally I had enough and needed to continue on their journey with them. This is now my new favorite series that she has pushed other authors down my list of favorites. Now onto the book…the way Zak and Harper banter with each other?.🔥 Their slow (but fast) burn energy had my squealing with excitement, especially hen their time came. I love how he took care of her after what happened and I LOVE how she was able to get her strength back in more ways than one after that as well. Zak was her perfect match and she was his, even if they tried to deny it for so long. Now Cameron? I hate to say I was sensing a little bit about what was going to happen. He got what he deserved. And oh my goodness NAN?? I loved how so accepting she was especially with the “lucky charm” and how she reacted to the wedding day. I can’t wait to see if they make an appearance in the next book which will be dark and mysterious Liam.. i am so freaking excited!
Thank you so much for letting me be a part of reading this, and all the future ones to come.

Written in Blood is book 2 in the Sweetwater series. This book will ring you out emotionally. Harper is Stella's wild friend. She has a sharp tongue and will not be tamed. Zak is the man she loves to fight. Harper finally decides to settle down with a new guy at Sweetwater. This relationship is as toxic as they come. Readers, take the trigger warnings seriously as there are parts of this book that are hard to read.
Zak, just like the other Sweetwater men and woman do what needs to be done. They are not above doing the dirty work. His relationship with Harper is on again off again, as the hate-love relationship becomes even stronger. Hate is very close to love.
The action takes the team back to Columbia. The story also brings in the Russian mob. The search for the bad guys will have you trying to figure out what will happen next. Both characters have issues that make them who they are. The story has them trying to deal with this while trying to love one another.
As I said before the story is hard to read at parts. I just wanted the pair to let their walls down. They can keep with their verbal sparring but realize there is more behind it. Written in Blood held my attention throughout. I wanted the bad guys to lose and our couple to come out the other side together.
WOW talk about an emotional rollercoaster! I think I felt every emotion reading this book and then some! I was easily hooked from the first page and couldn't stop reading!
In this book we meet Harper and Zak who have known each other for four years. They are the definition of enemies to lovers. They can't stand each other but they are constantly around one another as they have mutual friends.
Zak is known as a playboy and doesn't stay with one woman very long. Harper is similar as she has never let a guy fully in because she doesn't want to get hurt. But with a turn of events it seems that they both are leaning on each other.
I loved how their relationship grew throughout the book but also how they changed individually. They both broke down each other's walls and were able to open up to one another. I especially enjoyed Harper and her nan's relationship..so precious!
Also, Zak Shepard is one of my new book boyfriends and he can talk dirty to me anytime! Sheeshh...some of those spicy scenes were SPICY.
A.D. Wilde did a great job with Harper and Zak's story! Such an emotional and angsty journey complete with their perfect HEA. I can't wait for the next one!

I absolutely loved this book. After reading the first book of this series, I was very excited for this book and it met my expectations. Zak, a character I already loved, became even more relatable as I got more insights into his inner thoughts.
I feel like the strength of this book is the plot and that the romance rather coexists than monopolizes the spotlight. I couldn't put the book down and I am already looking forward to the next book of the series. We even got a little foreshadowing of who the book might be about.
There was one aspect that felt a little off though: But since this contributed to a more interesting story, I didn't mind it much.
I actually just got the message of the title while reviewing the book and it's genius. I was genuinely stunned for a second. Also, the dedication is gold.
Overall, I gave the book 5 stars and it is one of my favorite books this year.
I devoured this book in two days and was really pleased with its content. The plot keeps you in a pleasant suspense from the first to the last pages. I especially liked how the main male character was detailed and clearly portrayed, but there are still some questions about the female character. Understanding Zak, his feelings, his personality, and experiences was easier for me than understanding Harper. Harper seemed a bit immature to me for someone in their early thirties.
I wanna give a shoutout to the main antagonist's character. At first, I kinda liked him, but then everything flipped, and I ended up feeling nothing but disgust for him.
The sexual tension between the main characters is so intense it had me practically jumping up and down in anticipation. In my opinion, at times, it was a bit dragged out and exhausting. The actual intimate scenes, though, were top-notch - they were delicious and enjoyable. Overall, I'd rate this book 4 stars, mainly because of the vague portrayal of Harper, who seemed torn between wanting to be strong and independent and, at the same time, submissive and desiring male dominance.
Hats off to the author for the work done, especially in developing characters that I got attached to. Special thanks for the Russian character, and even the phrase in Russian, he was darkly charming. As a Russian, it warmed my heart.
This is book 2 in the Sweetwater Series. If you like a good enemies to lovers, with a funny banter and dirty talking morally grey mmc, then this one is for you. Not your typical morally grey where he became a softie after being in love though, he stayed as grey as you can get. 🤭🔥
This book was about Zak who is a Navy Seal Mercenary, and Harper who is Stella’s best friend. (Stella and Joel, who works with Zak were the main characters from book 1.) Zak and Harper have known each other for four years and they’ve just hated each other since. Both stubborn who just couldn’t accept their connection. It was when Harper met Cameron, the new guy in Sweetwater took a liking to her that Zak felt jealous. That’s where the spice happened. And it was spicy. 🥵
I actually enjoyed this book more than the first. Though I didn’t connect with the characters, I still enjoyed reading about them. The plot was much better too. There was a twist in the end that I predicted halfway into the book so that was not fun for me. And PLEASE, read the trigger warnings. It’s a dark romance, so please be aware.
**I received this book as an ARC for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

After reading written in Stone at the end of last month I was beyond excited to jump in and read this and see Zak and harpers story to say I was not disappointed in the slightest I absolutely loved it It was very interesting to see how their relationship grew over the course of the book and how much hate and love they both had for each other at the same time talking of disliking someone my blood boiled over Cameron the emotions I felt for this guy Were next to none once again like the first book this was also an emotional rollercoaster which I loved also haprer’s grandmother melted my heart she seems like the most sweets old lady ever Overall I really enjoyed this book and recommend if you are looking for a slow burning enemies to lovers that will send you on a wild emotional rollercoaster

“You’re pretending to be tough when you don’t need to be. It’s okay to be vulnerable sometimes. But you need to trust me. Got it?”
First off ad can write some of the best morally grey men out there and I am willing to die on that hill and that’s fine this book has me in a choke hold.
Zac freaking Shephard. Man oh man am I obsessed with you. The way your protective and sweet and refuse to let your self fall is hilarious but I love you anyway. He’s the moody body guard who has to stay away cause he knows her claws will drag him down to the devil.
Then there’s Harper the heartbreaker hold on, can I say I’m you? I mean welcome to my 20s bestie. But I’m in love with her spunky fiery soul, and how she just wants that life, and that love story. But also wants to be there for everyone she loves.
Not only is the chemistry off the charts with these two you get to revisit Joel’s life, and see some friendships grow, and get some hints on future love life’s soo I’d love to know your theory’s 🙈
I’d you love morally grey men, and spunky wild women, and a group who legit want to save the world go read this book asap.
