While Elara and Zaeth seek allies amongst the cunning and lethal fae royals, they must decide whom to trust in courts crafted from lies.
As war bears down upon them all, Elara endeavors to learn all she can about the invading darkness destroying their world. But Elara is no longer the person her family knew. A shadow has settled over her, one that will require a lot more than love to banish it.
In this stunning conclusion to the Storm of Chaos and Shadows series, C. L. Briar delivers thrills and romance amongst heart-wrenching plot twists and emotional toil sure to linger.
I’m kinda shocked at how this series ended. It reminded me of having decent sex and then no after care, kinda think of it as doing the dirty and the man throwing a towel at you and booking it home.
I’m sorry but what the heck just happened? Everything works out In a way, we lose some main characters which is sad. Where’s the grief?? Why do we randomly get a blurb about El having a kid. What. The. Heck.
Where’s the after story for Greer and Lannie? Why the heck did Lannie’s entire romance/ mate story and her purpose in the 4th book seem like such an after thought. Her character was straight ROBBED compared to her sisters. Her whole job of being in the earth kingdom to heal the sleeping fae was a waste of time, her romance was a waste of time and felt so cringy with no chemistry, she never really manifested or learned how to control her powers like her sisters. I feel like CL Briar got bored in this last book and gave up.
What about all the other loose ends? Where did El’s dad go?? How did he and El’s mom meet, were they in love?? Why was he able to actually be her blood father and not just bless her like they initially thought?? WHERE ARE THE ANSWERS.
I’m going to be thinking about the ending of this series for the next few months but not in a good way.
2.75 ⭐ I loved this series so much, but sadly this book did just not live up to my expectations. Referring to the beginning, I strongly disliked that Levana posessed Elara's body. Levana was really a new character and she was badly written in my opinion. The only thing I know about Levana is that she's a Goddess, Eunoia's sister, and that she's evil but why? )Might be my mistake since it took me a month to finish this book so there's no doubt I've forgotten some details.) When Elara passed and she got that little moment with her mother though! That was heartwarming. It wasn't a scare really that Elara was going to live since we got her POV, but the description of her entire body being burned, damnn. What I sort of like about C.L. Briar is that she's not afraid to add a absolutely unnecessary death, it makes the story unpredictable, because I'd be like 'There's no way they're gonna die because they're the best side characters.' But dang it hurt when Evander died, Rest in Peace you would've loved Pride Month and spirituality🙏. The epilogue was disappointing. It was super cute and we got right in there, but it was short, no further explanation on how Lannie was doing with Halcyon, how Greer was ruling the kingdom with Ryuu or anything like that. I get it, The story started with Elara so it should no doubt also end with Elara. But I got an emotional bond with the Tenebris sisters mann :((.
Anyways, this series is definitely worth your time! If you like romance, strong FMC's, fantasy and a little bit of spice! :)

This series has a lot of potential, but the typos and grammatical errors just make it so. difficult. to. read.
The ending was a bit abrupt. I dint feel like we got the full ending that was needed to mourn som main characters and to finish out the stories of Greer and Lannie.
With a little bit of rewriting and a GOOD proofreader, this series could be great. Instead, it's more mediocre.
This would've been rated higher but the sheer amount of spelling & grammar errors, coupled with the misuse of certain words made this book particularly hard to read and honestly ruined it for me. The entire series, plot and characters, was very enjoyable but unfortunately were drowned out by the lack of care taken to ensuring the book was well written with the quality one should expect of finished/published books. I'm disappointed because the whole series has a lot of potential, but it's just so difficult to read.
There was so much that was amazing about this series and yet there was so much that left me disappointed. This could have been a top 5 series for me had there not been GAPING holes and poor editing. The typos throughout this entire series drove me insane and almost led to me abandoning it. The plot was the only thing that kept me going. I found it extremely irritating that Lannie’s entire storyline in the whole series was essentially pointless. The sleeping fae just died and she never made any progress romantically. She was robbed of a story compared to the other sisters. The author runs with the trio of brothers for 3.5 books only to kill off 2, introduce a new villain, and then have the last of them (who is supposed to be the epitome of evil) just 180 and help the MC’s? What happened to Erebus? Why didn’t we get a glimpse into the afterlife where the author sent half the side characters in this book? Why didn’t we ever see El embracing being Zaeths mate and queen when she was the original MC??
The pregnancy/birth scene really just pissed me off and dropped my rating drastically by itself. So unnecessary when there was much more important plot that could have been added. As if having a baby was relevant to anything in this storyline, especially after Greer was the one who spoke about pregnancy and El was the one who was supposed to be vicious and only concerned with being a monster with Zaeth (I love a morally dark FMC!) Just disappointing.
Overall, the plot of books 1-3 were incredible and I would have rated an overall 4 (ignoring the glaring typos.) Book 4 would have been a 4.5 if not for the aforementioned issues. However, due to everything mentioned, this series is not worth a reread and I would have DNF’d if I had known the ending.

The Storm of Chaos and Shadows series by C.L. Briar is a romantasy series! I am absolutely obsessed with this series!! The plotline continued to progress and keep me on my toes. I literally could not put it down! There was always something happening that kept me reading. I loved the characters! They all had depth and character development throughout the series. I loved the multiple POVs and love stories. The couples in this series were all perfect for each other and I loved seeing them all come together. I loved that even though it was a fated mates series it was not insta-love. I loved that each couple was a different trope like grumpy x sunshine and enemies to lovers vibes. I loved everything about this romantasy series. I thought the world building was easy to understand and follow throughout each book. This book had a great spice, romance, action, and adventure. I do have to say book 1 was slower as it laid the background for the rest of the series but book 2 and on was action packed and amazing. Book 1 was still really good but the rest of the series was way better for me!!
Ratings: Storm of Chaos and Shadows -⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Storm of Blood and Vengeance - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Storm of Death and Darkness - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Storm of Mist and Monster - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I couldn't put this one down any more than I could the third book! There were no up's and down's in the writing, it all flowed together seamlessly. The mind C.L. Briar has with the military strategy for this book is AMAZING!!! The way the last battle happens and how everything come together just shows how GREAT this book is!
Spoilers: Everyone comes together!
There is one last attempt on Pax. Everything bad converges on the humans on the East side of the Wild Kingdom. The humans and the Wild Fae are out numbered, badly! But then Elora and Zaeth show up and help from the north east. Over the next few hours, the Earth Kingdom comes to help from the south, the Air Kingdom comes from the air from the east, the Fire Kingdom joins them in the air from the north, while the queen of the Water Kingdom comes thru a portal with Water and Earth Fae to help. Then the Dark Kingdom soldiers are transported in and the bad guy, Veles, from the last three books is helping with the Fractured. 5⭐ (can I give it 10⭐?) 2🌶️

Such an amazing ending to a brilliant series. I would highly recommend!
I loved the relationships both romantic and non romantic between all the characters. They were so well done and such a tight knit group of friends/lovers. I especially loved the bond between the 3 sisters, it was so pure and unyielding.
There was spice, there was action and there was a lot of death. It was such a perfect blend of war and bloodshed with love and relationships. I was captivated throughout the whole series.
I’m not sure how I feel about this one. Everything was well wrapped up for a finale to a series, but as an educator, I had a difficult time getting through all the spelling errors. I wanted to get out a pen and start editing for her. Besides needing a new editor, I did enjoy the development of the characters and the whole story line. It was exciting with twists and turns that kept me wanting more. The very ending felt thrown together, but I see what she was trying to do to provide closure for the readers.
Of Mist and Monsters is the last installment of the Storm of Chaos and Shadows series. I won’t say too much about this book because of spoilers but the pace was great. There were no time for breathing and few happy moments, so get ready for a breathless ride. The battle scenes were perfectly described I could visualize everything. Of Mist and Monsters left me sobbing several times. I would have loved to know more about Lannie’s relationship and how it ends. I really enjoyed our sisters’ journeys, their bonds, how they drew strength from each others. I highly recommend this series if you’re looking for a dark fantasy with lots of actions, some romance…

The final installment of the Storm of Chaos and Shadow is the most action filled novel of the four, as the war to save Pax is officially beginning. Elara's life was saved, but she's not quite herself. What exactly happened at the Seven Sacred Pools? Did Zaeth make a mistake, and if so, what is the cost? Will they be able to save their world from the impending darkness ahead, and stop the prophecy? You'll be reading fervently to see how this story ends.
While I do feel like she tied off a lot of the loose ends in a good way, the spelling and grammatical errors, and this took me all the way out. What could’ve been such an amazing finish to a series, seemed like there was very little effort into making sure that even the characters names were spelled right in this… I also feel like it could’ve been a lot shorter and still delivered on a lot of the plot.
This series was mildly entertaining, although it easily could’ve stopped at the second book or so. What made it deserve the low ratings was mostly the typos and the editorial misses. The author thanks her editors at the end of a book and I’d have guessed she read it through once herself and then hit publish.
This was a great wrap up to the series. It was fast paced, emotional , and overall a great read. Thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between the characters both romantic and non romantic. This book had spice, banter, meddling gods, death, war and new beginnings. I had no choice but the shed tears at the end of this book. I recommend this series to anyone that enjoys a great romantasy read.
This was a great series that kept me entertained! I loved following all three sisters and their very different personalities. The ending did feel a bit rushed and open. There are still so many loose ends it feels like. One more callout I have is to please run this through another round of edits. The amount of spelling errors I came across pulled me out of the story at times.
Wow. What an ending to this series. I was honestly doubting if it would be this good at the beginning a little, but I was more than pleasantly surprised with it by the end. I mean come on. So many twists and crazy things happening. SO SAD. And SO GOOD. I’m still so attached to these characters I need MORE.
god i am obsessed with zaethelara theyre everything to me (so is ryuugreer and lanniehalcyon) and god does it feel amazing to read a completed series which means i don’t have to wait a whole year for answers thank GOD
This is a new author for me so I wasn’t sure what to expect but wow! Fast paced, great plot and characters you want to keep reading about. If you like Shannon Mayer she has a similar style. Well worth reading.
This book took me longer to finish cuz I went on vacation, but I wish they would’ve given more info about the Erebus thing. Like what happened after he siphoned out the goddesses powers? I did enjoy this, I just wish I had gotten a bit more info at the end.

The last book of the series as come to an end. To say I won't miss these characters is an understatement. Each character arc was written beautifully and I'm beyond excited to see what C.L. Briar has in store for us readers in the future.
Okay so I have so many questions that remain unanswered by the ending. Does Lannie get her happily ever after with her lovely mate the Earth Queen? I mean honestly…I need answers. But a happy ending and I’m so stinking happy for Elara getting her happily ever after.
What a journey. This series was so good and real. Not everyone made it and there was fighting, blood and gore. It was so good. The physical books are gorgeous. So glad I gave these a chance.
Wowza. What a series. So I got the special edition omnibus of this series and I’ve literally eaten it up! Such a good series with amazing character development and whew what an ending I was not expecting!
I've been trying to clear out my unfinished reads and I just can't get back into this one. the ending lost me which seems to be a trend through some other comments I've seen. once the goddess turned on her own people Idk I just think the ending isn't it.
