FOOL ME TWICE, SHAME ON ME… That devil’s spawn is back in town. His body shredded with muscles from the boxing ring. Dark as the midnight that brought him back home. Gorgeous on the outside, but beneath the surface lies a monster. Ashton Warren. The villain next door. Four years ago, he was my brother’s best friend. Until he wrecked me, then disappeared. Now, he’s back, pretending like that night never happened, like he didn’t leave me with a broken heart. He wants to pick up where we left off. My brother would end him if he finds these text messages on my phone. So, I keep my distance. I shut him out. Until he makes me an offer that’s hard to refuse. Saying yes would pull me under his control, giving him the power to hurt me again. My brother would surely catch some jail time. But is that enough to stop a monster hell-bent on making me his?
Reader’s This book is a steamy, over-the-top, instalove romance with a protective/possessive alpha hero. It contains no cheating and has a happy ending.
Each book in this series is a standalone and can be read in any order.
I was not very fond of the storyline. The plot was flat with no development. From my point of view, both the main characters, Sky and Ash, were so dull. I tried to stop reading, but I wanted to know what Peter did to her so skimmed a lot. While skimming, I realized I was not missing anything meaningful to the story. I sometimes felt that Sky loved her bugs more than her boyfriend. The author depicted her as immature. Sky behaves like a petulant child. She has tantrums and cries when she cannot deal with the truth or stress. I could understand that she had trust issues and was suspicious of Ash's intentions. However, for her to resolve her issues with her boyfriend and trust him with her inner thoughts and secrets, he had to hold the spider. The boy has a spider phobia and was having a panic attack by holding it. The script and scene were so wrong. Honestly, if someone would ask me to get over my phobia to prove my worth, I would tell him to go to hell. I am not interested in this author therefore I most likely will not read her books.
When I first started reading and learning more about Ashton I really could not figure out what he could have done that was so horrible to Skylar in the beginning. Glad to know I was right on that. Their love, connection, and story line was such a tantalizing read. I couldn't put it down.
Ash is back after 2 years his junior career in boxing maybe over but he refuses to believe it his father is ridding him over his career choices and him not finishing college his brother has picked up bad habits and the girl who followed him everywhere hates him but her hate and how much she's grown up intrigue him. Sky is glad school is over but her family life is ruff her dad's depressed and her mom just wow her brother is in college but trys to make up for there dads absence then the guy she crushed on has returned after he did something terrible to her now hes hitting in her why what's his angle. Pretty soon all that anger leads to a romance kept under wraps until Ash gets tired of hiding bring the family drama and the romance drama can they ever fix things before Sky goes off to college
Okay I don't think this is a true bully romance in the traditional sense the younger brother Peter is more of the Bully not Sky's love interest Asher the beginning was a little jerky for me but after the first chapter the book picks up but it's not until almost the end that you find out what happened 2 Sky 2 years prior that said the book isn't bad it's kinda cute Ash falls first Skylar has allot of issues to work threw but Ash is very patient up to a point there chemistry is of the charts and there is only minor angst type stuff in this book all though that brother needed his bell rung and Bonnie is the perfect supportive friend for Sky.
This was delightful! I really liked both of the MCs as people, and their connection, chemistry and banter felt strong and genuine. Their sex scenes gave me the vapors! The H was the star of the show for me: charming, funny, supportive, considerate, in touch with and open about his feelings.
It's important to note that this is not a bully romance, in the sense that neither the hero nor the heroine do any bullying. The heroine has been the victim of bullying from the hero's brother, however.
In terms of criticisms, another round of editing couldn't hurt, as there was the occasional off word choice, but nothing major or bothersome. Also, they were uncomfortably into leaving a ton of bite marks on each other and then displaying them while hanging around their parents, and they were not nearly embarrassed enough about it. Have a little shame! And finally, I really wanted an epilogue!
All in all, this was my first experience with this author and it was a rousing success.
I’m sorry I don’t like leaving one star reviews but I sought out a plus-size bully book and this came up. I preorder it and I started reading and then… she looses weight. (Which if the author had tw in the book maybe i could have not been triggered by this. Im so tired of ‘plus-size’ books having the FMC lose weight) The title says curvy which could mean anything. (often means plus-size) I thought it meant she was plus-size but no… she had to lose weight and she’s attractive now because she lost weight. Idk if the guy liked her before but from what i read he referred to her as the chubby girl and wasn’t attracted to her until she lost weight. I dnfed the book i’m leaving this review so other people looking for a plus-size bully romance won’t be so disappointed. I’m not even sorry to the author for writing this I'm not trying to be mean I’m just so disappointed.
Girl/GuyNext Door Relationship/used to be older brother best friend. This book was a page turner. I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to find out what the text was about that made Sky pissed with Ash and his brother Peter.
Ash is boxer who career went down after his injury. Sky is 18yo virgin who LOVES her bugs and photography.
Ash feel real hard first and was possessive🫶🏽 he changed his way for Sky. The spice in this book 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and a lot of biting (idky but it is so hot) 🥵
I love their relationship they always teasing and joking with each other so cute. Everything was falling back into place for Sky.
I wish the epilogue was like years into their relationship but it is only a few months after she left for college. I love the ending though. HEA ❤️
What’s with this author and the amount of typos? Needs to get an editor or a better one.
So this one was cute I guess. I wouldn’t say it was a bully romance though.
Sky was quite annoying and just so painfully awful to Ashton. Ash was just way too sweet. Always doing what she wanted. Even until the end. I mean they were together for 6 months before she went to college and didn’t say an “I love you” to the poor guy. And he moves to go be with her at the end. He just kept giving and giving. Sky didn’t deserve him. I did like how playful they could be, but this should not be touted as a bully romance for sure.
It's predictable and too sweet. There's not much to the storyline, and so much that's added into the story is dropped like it was never introduced... just left unanswered.
Also, whoever the editor is missed an embarrassing amount of typos. Easy read but cheaply thrown together. I don't say that often- or ever- but I started skimming the last 2 chapters just hoping for the end.
This is just my opinion, but I wouldn't consider this dark, not sure why college virgin was mentioned, because everything took place in the summer before college. Bullying? Not really. However, once you get past all of that this was a great read, sky and ash have that typical brother's best friend face off and it was innocent, yet intense, infuriating, yet safe. Great job!!
This was ok. Like others have said, the title really has nothing to do with the book. It's also just a bad book title. The "age gap" is only 3 years. FMC isn't chubby. I don't like that she is only attractive after losing weight. The only bullying came from the MMC's younger brother. The MMC though is pretty unproblematic, no toxic masculinity which is nice. It definitely needed some editing, it was a little hard to read at times.
I love bugs so I totally get it. I also love that he continued to try and push her out of her comfort zone and help her grow. He’s such a good boyfriend I swear! Dracula was such a cutie and I’m so glad that he held him. I’m also glad that she finally sees that they’re amazing together. I’m so glad she found love. Now let’s talk spice. It was pretty freakin delicious. I liked it very much so but it didn’t over power the story which was really nice. Such a good book.
You have to love these two they are so cute with each other and from early on you can feel how much they care. Honestly I figured it would harder for ash to accept his fate but I was surprised that it was her who had the hardest time. But I did enjoy it was was sweet, cute, spicy and funny.
Ok, first off, the title does Not fit this book! There was bully elements, but not dark ones. BUT, I loved this story! The plot was well written, the characters meshed well, except Peter, he was an ass. And they got an awesome HEA! So don't read for the bully title, but for a good love story.
I was hoping to see more maturity from the female lead but it was stagnant and didn’t really materialize. I felt sorry for the male lead and kind of wanted him to find someone who was willing to be open and as invested as he was. Being in love with someone so insecure and emotionally unavailable is hard. I wasn’t a big fan of the female lead
I enjoyed this story, but felt that Sky was a little too much in her head about things. Ashton put up with a lot from her even if he may have bullied her when they were younger. Its a good read overall.
College-Virgin and Dark Bully Next-Door by Kathilee Riley: 5 stars Sky/Ash. These two touched my heart! I loved their story, and the writing style pulled me in. It was sweet, steamy, angsty, bold, and heartwarming, with a good pace and great characters. —PTators
dnf’d at 42% the fmc just wouldn’t communicate and it was so frustrating constantly going in circles. and the reminder every time that she was once “chubby” but lost weight and now she’s “attractive” just wasn’t for me.
She isn’t in college. Age gap was only 2-4 years?? Never got a clear age. He was a bully two years prior. It was more of an insta-love. Wasn’t a huge fan of the writing. Almost choppy. Maybe it was editing? Anyways. Ok for a filler book.
A really wonderful book. It touches on bullying, betrayal, loss, stress and love. You'll read about the struggle for forgiveness and reaching out. I truly enjoyed this story.
This was a really cute story! Fast paced and overall just a feel good story. I loved that the FMC has a hard time communicating her emotions while the MMC helps her with that.
how much i loved this book! It was just such a good read... definitely recommend if you are interested in a feel good book. To me the title "dark bully" is not that accurate but besides that it was excellent!
