Summer Prescott is well-known in the Cozy Mystery realm, having written and published several Best-Sellers in the genre. An avid reader of Thrillers, Horror and Suspense, the author has decided to follow her passion with the debut of her Thriller, The Quiet Type, which launched in the top 50 of the Serial Killer category on Amazon. The novel has received high praise in its reviews, and Summer is considering a possible trilogy or series to continue the story.
Macy is a top seller and in being so won a 7-day VIP trip to Reno! But what should happen except someone is murdered? Again. The victim is Herb, the husband of a lady named Myrna that Macy met while in Reno. Myrna is also there for the seminars.
Luckily, Macy is not a suspect in the crime… this time. She continues to attend the seminars to obtain valuable information on how to expand her business and on how to sell more items. In the meantime, Myrna is attempting to get Macy to do some sleuthing for her to help discover who killed her husband, but Macy has placed Myrna on her mental suspect list and she doesn’t want to share any information with Myrna - the potential killer.
Is the culprit Myrna, Myrna’s sister Celisse who has always secretly liked Herb but killed him because he never gave her the time of day? Or is it Myrna’s daughter Katelyn who never really cared much for her step-dad? Is it Kent, the creepy guy who is trying to get Myrna to collab with him to grow their businesses together and make even more money, or is the killer a random psycho?
Then someone steals Macy’s room key and trashes her room and leaves a red, blood colored handprint on her door. Lemme tell you, I believe that handprint is a clue when you get to the few pages after the break-in. No spoilers from me though, but I’m fairly certain I now know who the killer is (at this point in this review, I’m only 76% of the way through this book).
I just finished the book. I was wrong wrong which is actually good good because I don’t want to know who the perp is until the last minute! The suspense is a great thing.
Well, Macy helps wrap it all up and she learns that friendships are more important than her business. She’s getting her priorities straight. She also learned that she can feel safe at home even more so than before her trip to Reno because her friends are looking out for her.
Next is “Perps on Parade (Junkyard Dog Cozy Mysteries Book 6)”.
Love this series! The characters are all kind hearted people who volunteer at an animal shelter. They have very different backgrounds, and outlooks but their love of animals bonds them. The book is well written of course, (I’ve yet to read anything this author writes that isn’t.) This book is a change in venue for the protagonist and the vast majority has her as the only regular of the series in a different locale solving a murder. I never figured out the killer until the unveiling by the author. Definitely a book I highly recommend.
This was an exciting adventure Macy had while at her sellers’ conference in Reno where murder wasn’t a stranger even when she was surrounded by strangers. After sleuthing it out and helping a new friend, Macy realized when she got home that her main takeaway from the conference had nothing to do with selling but had everything to do with making time for family and friends.
Which she got to do when she got home and had dinner with her buddy Sync and sweet cat Dex who’d really grown fond of Sync. I knew Sync was my fave secondary character and he’s just sealed that deal!
Macy gets advice from an eccentric old woman on her junkyard business. But the woman soon ends up dead as Macy who wanted to kill her. A quick cozy read that will have you entertain.
Another great mystery to unfold and save a doggy too. But still just trying to keep up with all that goes on is amazing! Hope Macy can heal more and enjoy more than just the pets.
