The smallest spark can ignite a fire...

Conrad Foster has his fair share of regrets. He feels like he failed his best friend, his dad is constantly on his back with unrealistically high expectations, and instead of having the space to fix the shit show his life has become, he feels like everything around him is about to explode. The last thing he needs is a run in with a girl he knows he should stay well away from.

Ivy Willis is smarting over a double betrayal: her ex-boyfriend moved overseas and straight into the arms of an Italian supermodel, leaving her desperate for something to help escape her heartbreak. A chance encounter and a night of hate sex with a sexy as sin rugby league player sounds like the perfect distraction. So what if it's Conrad, a guy she knows is all kinds of wrong? She has no plan for this thing to be anything more than one hot night.

Just one problem... one night isn't enough for either of them.

Sparks Fly is the third stand-alone book in the Blue Haven University series and it focuses on Ivy.
Ivy is a character that we've been introduced to earlier in the series, she was in-love with her best-friend Lachy which ultimately ended up in heartbreak.
This books takes us through the stages of healing after heartbreak. Anger, sadness and then finally happiness again.
Like both previous BHU books, Sparks Fly is filled with drama. I love the friendships in this book. They're all so loyal to one another and care so much about one another, it's beautiful!
Thankyou to J.L Skye for an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to J.L Skye for providing me with an ARC of this book 💖

J.L Skye writes so beautifully and magically and Sparks Fly was no different! I was blushing and kicking my feet from the first couple of chapters. Enemies to lovers is always such a good trope especially with all the tension between Ivy and Conrad 🥵🌶️ I felt for Conrad throughout this whole book, he got given so much shit from all sides 😢

I’m so glad Ivy finally got her happy ending after what she went through with Lachy and, Conrad is her perfect match 😍

The ending sets up the next book perfectly and I cannot wait for it 🥰

This book has become my favourite in the series. Watching Ivy go through her hurt and come out the other side was amazing to read. I have a real soft spot for Conrad and I love that they are happy. There is a scene that days after reading it still lives in my head and makes me happy and smile. I truly love this series and can't wait for everyone to read this.

Thank you Jennah for this ARC! I had such a good time reading this.

I adored reading this and being back in this world, I felt like this book had the best flow in the series so far. It just couldn't put it down and buzzed through it while constantly kicking my feet, that hate to love element really delivered from the first chapter.

Ivy is going through healing from the break up with her first love so she falls into bed with her brothers rival. Ivy has this sass but also softness about her and she felt so realistic and most people will likely be able to content with her. Seeing her heal by the end and stand up to her brother for who she loves was amazing.

Conrad is incredible misjudged and has a really sad back story so my heart really broke for him. I could see his smirk through the page and it simply made me weak at the knees. Silver BMW sports car? Sounds familiar too. Conrad was also a fierce protector and did everything to protect his little sister without overstepping.

THAT ENDING THOUGH!

Tropes: brothers rival, college surf romance
Triggers: toxic parent

This is my favourite book from the ‘Blue Haven University’ series yet, I really enjoyed exploring Ivy and Conrad’s story.

I enjoyed seeing some small hints of the character development to come for Conrad in ‘Before You’. He definitely changed for the better and become a guy who deserved a happy ever after.

Ivy has been through so much, and feeling like she wasn’t good enough I’m glad she had Conrad to help her see she is worth so much.

After all the explosive secrets that come out, I’m excited to get into Harley’s story!

“You’re my newest addiction, Ivy. I can’t get enough.”

4.5⭐️ You know that moment when you’re holding a sparkler and the sparks are getting closer and closer to hitting your skin and you know it’s gonna hurt but you keep holding on because it’s just too mesmerising to look away?! This is what this read was like. It’s intense, burns so bright and hot, but then those sparks start hitting you and you get all the feels! I loved it and I feel like this is my new fave of this series.

Let me say this too, Jennah knows how to start off a book with a bang! Goodness! I was blushing by the first chapter! The enemies to lovers spark is definitely an inferno. The tension between these two from the start is just crackling. You could feel it bubbling away at all times.

I love Ivy’s sass and her taste in books! I need to get her ice hockey romance recs too ;)
And Conrad! Gah he’s just so misunderstood. I really fell for him and his delicious, devilish nature.
I love how there’s always heartfelt, complex and emotional backstories to all of Jennah’s characters. Really brings them to life on page. I love how each book in this series brings new info about your faves. It’s a really nice found family community in Blue Haven. I love it!

Sparks Fly is a truly beautifully written enemies to lovers ya romance story that had me devouring every word in one sitting!
And....
Good Lord..... Sparks were definitely flying between Ivy and Conrad! 🥵
I could not get enough of these two....
I lived for...... the tension, the banter, the hate (or should we say maybe foreplay), the push and pull, the emotion the sneaking around, the OMG twists and of course the steam.
Ok....
I can't deny, due to his questionable appearances in the previous books, going in to this book, I wasn't sure how I would feel about Conrad.
But...... this boy, this man, completely stole my heart. Not only did he have me swooning and feeling a little hot and bothered but he also had my heart aching from all the BS and misunderstandings he was coping from all angles 😢.

After all life had thrown at these two, I’m so glad they both got the HEA they deserved with each other. They just fit, perfectly.
But...
J.L Skye...... that ending......... aaahhh I need back in to this world ASAP. I'm nervous but so excited.

“I can’t deny that when the two of us are alone together, sparks fly.”

Dayum girl every book you write makes me have a new favourite man.
It really is like a story line out of home and away- but better! 🤣 (yes stolen from the book)

We know Ivy was broken from previous books so wow did JL Skye come back to give her some closure! Conrad is misunderstood and stuck in unfair family problems. He deserved his comeback as well!

From the first chapter I was obsessed. The line “at the ripe old age of twenty, I’m a bitter and angry shell of the vibrant, carefree girl I was last summer” oh I felt that! To my bones and if that doesn’t explain a soul crushing break up I don’t know what does.

I NEED SOMEONE TK CALL ME PRINCESS.
Call me princess Conrad.

The festival. Yes. That’s all. I’m not telling you so you have to read it! Ok!

Spice is 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

If you haven’t read the blue haven university series yet I suggest you drop everything and run 🏃‍♀️

It was my first complete physical book for the month! It broke my reading slump! Yes yes yes! 👏🏼

Thank you J.L Skye for the ARC of Sparks Fly.

For anyone who knows me well, they know I am a serial DNF'er. If I don't get my emotional, break-my-heart-a-little-or-a-lot fix, then I don't want it.

But, I always know I can rely on J.L. Skye to give me just the right amount of emotional heartbreak before putting the pieces back together again. I love her writing style, and I love the characters she brings to life. And she's done it again with Sparks Fly.

Ivy and Conrad are so beautiful together. Ivy is sassy, Conrad is the bad boy who's actually not so bad after all. He's also a rugby league player, which I'm a huge fan of ;)
There are emotional scenes, and a lot of questioning between who they are and what they want. There are some heavy themes throughout this book so please check your tiggers.

Overall, I loved this book and will certainly be back to read anything that J.L Skye writes in the future.

If you been following on with this series, then you know that J.L Skye had to give Ivy a story she deserved and she did not disappoint, Ivy got the story she deserved and so much more!
Ivy overcomes her heartbreak with the help of Conrad and we learn that there is so much more to Conrad that we didn’t get to see in earlier books.

I love all the twists and turns of Ivy and Conrad story, that I didn’t want it to end.
The sass from Ivy to the smooth talking Conrad.
The push and pull of these two characters will have you eating it up.
The tension and spicy is amazing. ❤️

I love you writing J.L Skye and can’t wait for what you got to come next. ❤️

I was waiting very impatiently for Ivy’s story because I didn’t believe Conrad was the right pick. I’m so happy to say that I was proven wrong in so many ways!
This was a beautiful story, and flows beautifully from the other 2. Not as ‘dark’ as #2, but still many important issues raised/ dealt with.

Again, J.L. Skye will absolutely break your heart. Thankfully she puts it back together… again!

This has to be the one book in the series that had me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for things to unfold. I absolutely loveeeeee ivy and Conrad!

I felt immersed into the book and blue haven and like I had a front row seat to watching Ivy heal from her trauma, but also watching Conrad become a better person and realise how much his family (apart from Ellie) was weighing him down.

I’m obsessed with BHU and cannot wait for Harley’s book! 😍

i loved it. i loved ivy. i loved conrad. i loved it all. this is a spicy australian surf beach town romance. but it’s also forbidden love? secret relationship, some betrayal, loads of spice. it was perfect. i’d recommend reading the first two to fully understand the situation, but they’re amazing too so that’s not a big hassle. all in all, i give it 10/10. i’d recommend this to pretty much anyone who likes romance books, regardless of which type.

thankyou so much for this arc, i loved it💜

I read this book as an ARC 🫶🏼
Enemies to lovers is one of my favourite tropes and I think for me personally it was a bit too fast past, but I LOVED being back in this world. I think Sparks Fly focused really well on Conrad and Ivy’s relationship as well as them individually. It had many moments where you got a bit of back story and it focused on other characters but I think the romance in this book was still the main focus which I really liked.
You definitely need to read book 1 and 2 before reading Sparks Fly otherwise you will be lost but overall really enjoyed. This is also definitely her spiciest book yet!

After having her heart broken Ivy end up messing around with someone she never expected to be interest in, Conrad.

This book has so much tension, it's enemies to lovers, he falls first, small town romance and found family.

I really enjoyed these characters and their journey together and the spice was good!

When I read I either highlight every second page, or I highlight one sentence. There is no in between. In both cases it usually means I am obsessed with the book, I don’t want to stop reading to highlight. This was one of those books.

I couldn’t wait to read Ivy and Conrads book - because let’s be real - if you have read the first 2 books, you definitely wouldn’t have picked Conrad.

They of course turned out to be perfect for each other. They complimented what the other needed in more way than one. I loved the character growth for both of them.

I absolutely love the found family trope and this series has it in spades. The spice was ramped up in this one also - no complaining here! I devoured this book in 2 days.

Omggg this was so gooood! I loved the forbidden romance of this book between Ivy and Conrad. I loved the tension and spice as well. It was also fun to read about Ivy and the surfing program especially when Conrad started secretly becoming a little consistent part in her life

I felt so bad for Conrad as well as you learn about him and his life, the guilt he has to do with Jasper. And especially with how he feels about himself and with everyone’s opinions about him while he’s trying to live up to his dads high expectations where his dad really makes him feel like the black sheep of the family, but I really love how sweet and funny Conrad is towards Ivy and Ellie and omg that unexpected plot twist about what he finds out about in the book and that endingggg??? I need Harley’s story now… 😭😂

Look I knew from the moment we saw more of Conrad in Before You (book 2) that I was going to be melting for this man.. and boy was I right.

I really enjoyed exploring Conrad and Ivy’s story, so much so that I read it in one sitting and wished I had taken more time with it. I have so much love for these characters and the journey they went on while managing their own struggles, standing up for themselves and finding happiness despite it all. You best bet I’ll be rereading this one asap!

It’s been so lovely enjoying the journey of JL’s writing to date and feeling so captivated by this series/world. Sparks Fly flowed perfectly with spice, plot and humour. I can’t wait to get stuck into Chasing Shadows to see what Harley boy has been getting up to 🥊

My absolute favourite of the series so far.

Sparks fly started with a bang and just curled (see what I did there 😜) from there. And wow what a ride it was.
I really wanted to hate Conrad Foster but once all the layers had been peeled back and you find out everything he has been through he's actually incredibly likeable.
Ivy's journey has consistently been a tough one across the series but it was so nice to watch her return to who she really is as a person.
Sparks Fly is definitely my new favourite in the BGU series Ivy and Conrad just hit differently.
More spice 🌶️🥵 = extra nice 😏
