The short, harrowing downfall of one person as he grapples with the relentless grip of mental illness. Struggling against the weight of his own mind, he finds himself teetering on the edge, drawn inexorably back into the familiar abyss of old habits.
This is a short read, 10 minutes give or take, but it'll stay with you much longer. it had me staring at the wall for who knows how long after I finished reading.
It's beautifully written, haunting, and full of raw emotion. It's a full gut punch. It's very dark, so be sure to check the content warnings.
Truly an incredible piece of writing. The author made such beautiful art from something really quite grotesque. The words and the visuals that shouldn't be beautiful felt light and as if it were okay to view them. So well done and so worth a read for anyone who has never been able to put words to their pain.
I have suffered writer’s block for as long as I can remember, with so many words and ideas floating around in my mind with no ability to assemble them into a cohesive story. One night I found myself in an intensely vulnerable state of mind, and I sat down, and wrote Canvas.
This little story is incredibly personal to me and I hope it translates as well as I’ve intended, considering the subject matter.
Not for the faint of heart. In only 8 pages the author conveys the darkness of self harm. I don't usually mention triggers, but please read the trigger warning at the beginning of this story.
very short, but clearly incredibly personal story about self harm. can’t say it spoke to me personally, but the writing was really poetic and beautiful despite the subject (or maybe because of the personal subject).
