Life as an omega trying to make it in the music industry is complicated, especially when Oakley Graves keeps that secret close to the vest.
Trying to build her band, Wicked Truths, from the ground up is difficult, but she never realized how overwhelming it would be as an omega musician in an industry dominated by alphas.
Failing suppressants, ghosts from the past, and relationship dynamics play out while the newly formed band is trying to gain their footing.
Will Oakley and her guys come together to tackle their problems as a pack? Or will everything fall apart when their demons end up too much to overcome? This is Oakley's complete romance, no cliffhanger! As with all my books you'll find no cheating, no choosing, and men who fall first. I'd recommend reading the books in this series in order as you'll find major spoilers for the other books.
*** Updated Review with Audiobook *** ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ She’s so innocent and dirty all at the same time. She’s probably too good for me, but I don’t give a fuck. I’m holding on tight with both hands.
📚 Book Review 📚 Once again, Jillian gifted us with an amazing OV. This was an unputdownable read! I’ve read all the previous Ruined Records books and hoped Marcus would get his villain redemption arc. He’s the grumpy to Oakley’s sunshine – acting the part of the bastard while really being her biggest supporter and falling madly in love with her despite himself. Out of all her men, he is my favorite. Sure, he is an alphahole, but he is a reformed alphahole.
This is a fast-burn and spicy romance. Oakley and Marcus embark in a frenemies-with-benefits relationship early on, with much of the book being MF before other pack members are brought on board. There are MF and MF+ scenes in both heat and non-heat settings.
I loved reading about Oakley and her men! I highly recommend the entire Ruined Records series to OV lovers.
🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧 This is another amazing dual-style reading by Vanessa Moyen and Michael Gallagher. Be prepared to feel things down in your nether region with all the dirty-talking goodness within.
Binge-listen to the entire Ruined Records series!
Very highly recommended for OV fans!
Genre: Contemporary Omegaverse Romance Tropes/Features: age gap, frenemies with benefits, friends to lovers, rockstars, bodyguard, hidden omega, beta MMC, virgin FMC, virgin MMC, demisexual MMC, new/building pack, villain redemption arc, degradation/praise, knotting, mating bites, heat, dp, dvp, pierced peen, size difference (make it fit) POV: Multiple 1st Person POV Narration Type: Dual-Style Narrator(s): Vanessa Moyen and Michael Gallagher Relationship Type: Why Choose MFMMM, fast burn, spicy Book Type/Ending: Standalone in Ruined Records series with HEA. It can be read independently, but I recommend reading the series in release order. There are significant character crossovers and continuing plotlines throughout. TW/CW: Available in book
If you’re a fan of rockstar romance, or a fan of romance that is as real as it is deep, then you’re going to enjoy this book.
Like the other books in West’s rockstar omegaverse, “Wicked Truths” deals with some heavy topics. Don’t get me wrong, the book itself is relatively light, but be warned that some of the themes are quite deep. West does a fantastic job of creating characters who are flawed. None of her characters are perfect, which makes their love stories all the more sweet!
In “Wicked Truths” we read about a FMC omega and her misfit pack of artists (plus security). Her childhood best friend is a beta named Sullivan, and her alphas are Marcus, Liam, and Hawk. What I loved about this story is how Oakley develops a relationship with each man, as opposed to having one bulk relationship.
Separately, I so enjoy how much I learn about sexuality through reading West’s work. One of the members of this pack is graysexual, and to be honest I found myself identifying with a lot of their inner dialogue. Leave it to Jillian to teach me about sexuality while I read omegaverse!
Overall, this book is the perfect blend of sweet and spicy.
I highly recommend reading if you enjoy the following tropes:
☆ rockstar romance ☆ childhood best friends to lovers ☆ MMFMM ☆ omegaverse ☆ group healing
"It’s so much easier to focus on other people’s pain than it is to remember my own."
Ahhh! I love this series so much! And this was such a wonderful addition! It felt so good to be back in the Ruined Records world!
Jillian has become one of my favorite authors! And I have now officially read all of her books. Eagerly awaiting her next release in one of her other series.
Jillian also gets major brownie points for mentioning two of my favorite bands and their best songs in this book! 😍 I love reading books in my favorite music genre!
This pack was perfection!
2 VERY territorial alphas 1 playful alpha 1 golden retriever beta 1 adorable omega
"I actually feel like I might cry all because I can’t find any clothes that smell like you guys.” “It’s kind of strange, but it does make me feel like a king,”
I loved all the angst!! And slowly watching Oakley build her pack! They were all so adorable together!
The ending 😭😭😍👏
And I loved getting to see Lyric and her pack, and Love and her pack again. 😍
“All right alphas, put your game faces on and gather around.”
•Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ •Plot:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ •Humor: 🤭🤭🤭 •Spice:🌶🌶 •Pace: Fast Burn •Pack diversity: 100% •Ending: HEA with 3 amazing epilogues
•Tropes: Omegaverse, Rockstar romance, best friends to lovers, age gap, bodyguard romance, v"rgin MMC, v"rgin FMC, lots of knots, heat, pierced 🐓, enemies to lovers, hate s*x, loveable alphas, strong omega
Exercise in frustration as the first half of the book is about conflicts from lack of communication. As a result, there isn't enough time in the book to spend on exploring the details in the developing relationships when they eventually happen. Jumps in the timeline.
There are lots of sex scenes that are fun, but the story lacks some emotional chemistry. Why are they even a pack? Felt convenient rather than from love.
The excessive epilogues are weird. Why not just tell their pack story in a shortened timeline? It distances the reader from an emotional connection with their story.
Interesting character ideas, but I don't feel like we got to know them personally. There is a lack of emotionally intimate relationship details between the characters that prevents connection to the story.
I can’t even explain how friggen happy it made me to see Marcus get a redemption.
Sometimes the dark horse just needs someone who gets it!
The spice in this was 😙👌 delicious. I loved reading about Oakley and how she figured out her life and career.
I also absolutely loved the mention of Try Hard Hero from the first book. Sure sad things are sad but the surviving member getting a second chance was so good.
This whole book was about second chances and I am HERE for that!
Excited to know that the second generation is going to get their own books!
overall rating 4.5/5 spice level 4.5/5 I really enjoy this whole universe/series of books. The only comment I have is that I wish there was a bit more to the story around the real world and other characters outside of the pack. You get a little bit at the tail end and in the epilogues, but I wish there could have been more interaction with other characters - not even previously introduced characters but just more with outside of the pack. It would have been nice to have some relationship building interactions between Oakley and the guys outside of heat and their little pack bubble. There was plenty opportunity for 1:1 relationship and character building scenes with Marcus when they go on that date, Liam when he follows her to make sure she's safe/okay, Hawk on the numerous occassions she's looking for him, and Sullivan in the form of flashbacks or just prior to the tour or their moment that causes their disconnect. I don't want all of that constructive criticism to overshadow the fact that it was a pretty dang good book, I finished it in about 6 hours because I didn't want to put it down, and it scratched the omegaverse reading itch.
This is a story that I have been waiting for and it definitely delivers! We met Oakley in the Ruined Records duet. We also meet Marcus 👀 and dang, he was just begging for a redemption arc by the end.
I really liked getting to know Oakley and Marcus better through their own POVs, and then the rest of the guys as they get their ish together.
The spice is fabulous, and so is the inclusion of an underrepresented demographic in the LGBTQ community. I loved the angst, the romance, and the way heavier topics were handled. I also enjoyed the cameos of characters from previous books! I’m very excited to see what comes next in this world.
UGH. The struggles. The redemption. I’m SOO amazed at how Jillian turned a grey character into like one of my all time favorites! It was a slower build for the pack to come together, but I love their story and how supportive everyone ended up being! Loved this addition to the Ruined Records series and the world building ❤️❤️
I received a free advanced reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest review.
It was so nice to see Marcus change from the person he was in «Left in Ruins», to this sweeter and dependable person, made it even better. Also loved that it was a dramafree group, so glad to read something without a unnecessary third act breakup!
While I really enjoyed this book, I could only give it four stars. Primarily because the beginning didn’t flow like it should. Also, the end seemed kind of rushed. With a little polishing this would be five stars.
I did like this one but I was hoping it would be a little deeper emotionally like the other books in the series. This one leans more into the typical omega verse genre and I was hoping for deeper conversations and connections.
I didn't feel emotionally connected to this one like I had the rest of this series.
The heat was kind of a letdown. Like Marcus and Sulli getting drunk when they know her heat is about to start!? Makes no sense. No group scenes for the heat. I just feel a bit let down. 😕
Also, I think I missed some things? Maybe if I went back and reread the previous books, I would get at least a vague start of Hawk and Oakley's friendship/situationship? And his marriage? Wtf was that? We didn't even get to see any drama with the ex-wife besides trying to find her. And the issue here was Hawk not telling Oakley, not that he was married. Was he going to pursue her and then just never tell her? 🤔
Kenton, grown ass 5 year old that he is 😒, was an epilogue after thought to give us HEA with babies without backtracking on Oakley, not wanting babies. I would have been okay with this if we had had more time to spend on it than one chapter.
I do love this series, though. I love Marcus in this one. He was my favorite.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I will read literally anything that Jillian writes, and this book didn't disappoint.
Similar to the other books in the Ruined Records series, "Wicked Truths" features some heavy themes but the overall story is fairly chill. The characters in this book aren't perfect and that makes them seem more real, easier to relate to as a reader, and ultimately makes them falling in love all the sweeter.
I personally loved reading about Oakley, especially after her scenes with Love in the previous book in this series "No Omega Needed". The different interactions with each love interest meant each development in the relationships felt specific to Oakley and each man, rather than one main relationship. The way the men also communicated with each other and supported the group as a whole was something I really enjoyed throughout the book. I especially loved how Marcus was a completely different person with Oakley than everyone else, and how he developed friendships with Hawk, Sullivan, and Liam.
Overall, it was a perfect combination of spicy and sweet, with great character and relationship development.
If you enjoy the following tropes, I would highly recommend reading: ✴ rockstar romance ✴ asshole to everyone but her ✴ omegaverse ✴ group healing ✴ childhood best friends to lovers
I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for anything in the ruined record’s world. The original duet is some of my favorite omegaverse books, Love’s book was super fun, so to say I was a x cited to finally see Marcus’ happy ending was an understatement.
It can be difficult for an author to redeem a character, especially one who is antagonistic and snarky the way Marcus is, but I think Jillian West did a wonderful job. Oakley is a sweetheart, and I loved that she was mentioned in the original duet too, it really tied it all together. Add in a friends to lovers trope, bodyguard romance, and a rhythm guitarist with a tragic past, you get a sweet pack a super fun storyline.
I can’t wait for more stories in this universe, and I definitely recommend reading if you, like me, loved the original duet and would to know how Marcus and Oakley meet their pack.
As always, check trigger warnings, it’s a light storyline, but your mental health matters.
I’m like a lot of other readers of the Ruined Records series. I’ve been waiting to see how Jillian was going to redeem Marcus, and I’m not surprised in the least that she did indeed deliver! I just knew that Marcus was more than what we were seeing in previous books, and he quickly became one of my absolute favorite characters in this whole series 🥰 Of course, I could say a lot of that was because of how everything came together in this not too sweet Omegaverse romance. Oakley was a character that I’ve been rooting for since we met her in Lyric’s story. You just can’t read about her & not want her to be happy & have everything she could possibly ever want. That leads us to our other guys, Sully, Hawk & Liam. Each of our main characters are all parts of healing from their unique struggles for each other in ways that they didn't know they needed. Watching all of the characters in this story work through their issues individually, and eventually together, made for one of my favorite Omegaverse stories I’ve read from Jillian (👸🏻👑). This story delivers on all the humor, heat 🥵🔥, and found family that you could want. The only thing better than watching all these characters find their way to happiness with each other will be when you get a glimpse into that HEA with all the awesome epilogues 🙌🏻❤️
I have been waiting for this book for what feels like forever. Jk Jillian West is a machine and she's been putting out some great books. This is a story that takes us back to characters introduced in the Ruined Records duet. I've been intrigued by Oakley since then.
An omega seeking a chance to really break into the music industry. A beta BFF who only seems along for the ride. Will they become more? One alpha is charged with keeping her safe. Have his feelings for her changed? Another alpha seeks a new start. Past tragedy leaves him wary, but this new group might be his chance not only at fame but family. Finally, one alpha is turning over a new leaf. He hasn't made the best first impression, and now it's time to prove he's more than what he's previously shown.
I have been waiting for Oakley's story since she was first introduced. I was so intrigued by her, and she's such a sweetheart. Some of the guys seem like they're playing mind games, leaving her feeling insecure. The alpha I least expected to step up became the MVP and my favorite of the bunch. I absolutely loved getting to see characters from previous books make an appearance.
I feel like Jillian West has been dangling the next generation stories over our heads, and I'm just so ready for them. I don't know when they'll be here but hopefully it's soon!
I don't know what happened here, but something went wrong with this one. I absolutely loved Lyric's books. They felt like a complete romance. Unfortunately, Oakley's story doesn't feel fully realized. I got the sense that I was dropped into a story that was halfway through. More space was needed for us to connect to the characters and for the relationships to develop more organically. As it is, it feels very surface level.
As for the heat... I think this was the longest and least "connected" heat sequence I've ever seen in an omegaverse. And by "connected" I mean that there's not a sense of true connection and cohesiveness as a pack. Pack members are in and out of the room at intervals. Hell, a couple of pack members have to sit the beginning of it out because they're drunk. The fmc had been seriously ill right before this and they know she's about to go into a heat and could get worse but they decide to get wasted??? Anyway... There's no big group scene during the heat, nothing that feels very emotional or romantic or any of the unifying things that usually happen during this kind of scene. It's just weird and disappointing.
So, for a let-down of a heat scene (that lasts for-freaking-ever) and a story that doesn't feel like it took its time to develop properly, I give Wicked Truths 2 stars.
“𝓘’𝓶 𝓰𝓸𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓸 𝓬𝓵𝓪𝓲𝓶 𝓶𝔂 𝓸𝓶𝓮𝓰𝓪. 𝓜𝔂 𝓽𝓮𝓮𝓽𝓱 𝔀𝓲𝓵𝓵 𝓫𝓮 𝓭𝓲𝓰𝓰𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓸 𝓱𝓮𝓻 𝓼𝓾𝓹𝓹𝓵𝓮 𝓯𝓵𝓮𝓼𝓱 𝓫𝓮𝓯𝓸𝓻𝓮 𝓘 𝓬𝓸𝓶𝓮 𝓪𝓰𝓪𝓲𝓷. 𝓘 𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀 𝓘’𝓶 𝓽𝓮𝓮𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓸𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓮𝓭𝓰𝓮 𝓸𝓯 𝓰𝓸𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓯𝓮𝓻𝓪𝓵.” . ℝ𝕖𝕧𝕚𝕖𝕨 I have posted a lot about the Ruined Records series by Jillian West because I love it so freaking much. I wasn’t sure what to expect with Oakley’s story because I’m so in love with the characters from previous books, but I was absolutely screaming - I LOVED it. I’m super happy that Jillian was able to redeem Marcus (*previous book alphahole jerk*) and I actually loved him with Oakley. The sexual chemistry between them was incredible, “I love that you’re still dripping in my cum. Such a compliant little fuck doll.” 🤤🤤
Wicked Truths was a spicy, fun story. It’s pretty lighthearted, but does explore deeper themes. Jillian West writes the best rockstar romances! The thing I love the most about Jillian’s work is they are books I could read again, and again. The writing and character development is so damn good, I couldn’t put it down. This is book four in the series and I highly recommend you read the rest of the series in order first.
Thanks so much to Jillian for letting me be a part of her ARC team, and thank you for the beautiful stickers and art you sent me. I appreciate you and can’t wait to read what’s next!
As usual, I loved everything about that story. In general, the Ruined Records series. The first duet in the series is by far my favorite. It still leaves a deep expression on me. But I adore the other books of Jillian West just as much.
I really enjoy the crossovers from all her books. Even The Exchange is mentioned.
So, Marcus first impression wasn't the best one, but Jillian redeemed him fantastically. Of course, he stays true to his fashion and attitude in some way, but knowing his background better and really being able to understand where he is coming from, made me like him in the end. Oakley was mentioned before. Not, that I didn't like her, but I wasn't happy to see her story first. Mostly because I want to see the next generation books. ;) But she was a great person and I liked her a lot. The same goes for the others guys. They were all different in some ways, and I always like how they mix with each other. I'm a huge fan of seeing packs come together.
The story is not pure fluff or too intense. It's excellent balanced. Again, a great book for me. And I truly hope the next generation books are coming next!
What a fantastic series! This one focuses on Oakley, who we see a bit in the prior book. She has her own insecurities and issues, but I fell in love with her. One of the MMCs is Markus, who we get to know a fair amount in the earlier books. This book showed a completely different side to him and I absolutely adored him! For a good portion of the book he was the only MMC that I (and Oakley) was happy with and felt confident about. But the others all grew on me.
I always love a bodyguard romance, so having that blended with a rockstar romance, all wrapped in a omegaverse romance was a special treat!
I felt the ending was a bit lackluster, making it seem like maybe people were right about being hesitant to sign omegas, since it makes their alphas want to settle down. But I still enjoyed it.
I love how this author weaves little connections and references between her books, even those from different series’. I’m glad I’d already read the side book referenced in this one, as it made me smile, even though it is 100% unnecessary in order to understand this story. It’s just a little Easter egg bonus. ☺️
Overall, this is a wonderful series and I highly recommend them!
That’s the only way I can describe it.. Revisiting the Ruin Records world is like visiting old friends, and now we get to see their story and see more HEA endings. We’ve met Oakly, Marcus and Hawk as tangential characters in previous books (I can’t remember if any of the rest of the characters were mentioned in the books, those are the ones I remember the most). Though its not necessary to read the previous books to get through this one, it will give you a much rounder view of the world and there are references to the other bands and back story that you may get lost in if you haven’t kept up. What helped is that I didn’t have a terrible view of either Oakly nor Marcus from the previous books. I loved how they all came together. And though Marcus may come off as the arrogant bad boy play boy, he has depth, and a surprisingly soft side for Oakly. I loved how Sulli was portrayed. And if you take away anything out of this book, communication is key. Anyway, I loved the book, JW excels in emotional connections and spicy scenes, and this book did NOT disappoint.
Jillian has quickly become my favorite Omegaverse author.
I absolutely love her low tension/anxiety stories.
Wicked Truths was different from the norm in two big ways.
One: having one of the MCs being demisexual. Omegaverse books are inherently sexual, having a character struggle to figure out how to handle that in a pack setting was extremely powerful.
Two: And omega not wanting to have children/birth children. We all know a lot of us get our fill of our breeding kinks in omegaverses. But I think it was wonderful and necessary to read one that it’s not all about having babies.
This love story was beautiful and messy with all the traumas each member brought to the pack.
The spice was super sexy… I’m pretty sure Marcus had the dirtiest mouth to date from Jillian’s characters.
And speaking of Marcus, I loved and cried over him finally getting the happy ending he deserved.
I can’t wait for the 2nd generation of this series!
Oakley has wanted a career in music as long as she can remember. Few Omegas have made it in the industry, but she is determined to front a band and travel the world performing with her best friend and drummer. If she has to pose as a beta to be successful, so be it. Except, with her failing suppressants, she's fooling no one, especially her new delicious-smelling, sexy bandmates.
This was an enjoyable story, as all of Jillian West's books are, but it was the least successful of the Ruined Records series in my eyes. Mind you, the bar is high but this Pack lacked the "All Packed Up" feeling her books generally have. They didn't have the overall chemistry I have grown to expect. Oakley was a solid character and I was happy for her but the men mostly fell short. Sully pulled away and he and Oakley never regained the best friend feel, and Liam and Hawk felt removed, almost outsiders in their own ways. Only Marcus's character lived up to my expectations. He got his redemption story and more. He was unexpected and much appreciated.
Wicked Truths is Oakley and Marcus Pack's story, and it had everything I love about Jillian West’s omega verse worlds. Watching Oakley build her pack was such a rewarding journey. Jillian has a gift for writing FMCs who are strong enough to stand on their own but also strong enough to lean into the love and support of their packs.
Marcus’ redemption arc was one of my favorite parts. After being a bit of the villain in Lyric’s story, it was so satisfying to see him step up here. He remained true to his personality. Solid, sharp edged, and far from perfect, but we saw his devotion and steadiness shine as he supported Oakley.
The epilogues and sneak peeks into other stories were the cherry on top. They gave me just enough of a taste of the other stories without overshadowing Oakley’s story. Jillian continues to balance romance, pack dynamics, and interconnected worlds so beautifully.
This book just reminded me why Jillian West’s omega verses are my absolute favorite and I never want to leave them.
I have waited so long for this story. I’ve wanted a happy ending for Marcus since the Ruined Records Duet. He’s been so let down by every person he’s ever trusted or let in. Lied to, cheated on… he’s got pretty much no faith left in anyone. Until his world collides with Oakley’s and he gets a taste of what it’s like to belong to somebody.
Oakley wants to make it big despite her pampered upbringing. She wants to do things herself instead of daddy’s money paving the way for her. With her best friend in tow, she’s done it. Add in Marcus and his broody, bad boy ways and soft heart, her best friend Sully, who she’s always been in love with but he always pulls away, a sexy, secretive bodyguard, and a grieving bass player who is living with survivors guilt, and you’ve got another sweet, steamy, healing love story from an author who always delivers on the HEA.
This book made me swoon so hard. It was definitely worth the wait.

Review: I want to say this is a standalone but I would definitely recommend reading the other before hand. They are interconnected and it just makes the whole story come to life more. Now about the story I absolutely loved it. The FMC (the omega) was one of my favorites omegas ever. She so sweet, compassionate and just feels with her whole heart. Now the males in this story there are 4 and Marcus is my favorite. He just straight forward and just loving the omega with everything. This story are some traumatic points through out but it never went to deep. It’s just an another awesome Omegaverse story from Jillian West. I would definitely recommend this book and the series. Loved loved loved it.
I absolutely loved this book. Jillian West is honestly one of my most favorite Omegaverse authors, and her books where the omega builds her pack around her, instead of joining an already formed pack, are some of the best Omegaverse books out there.
While this book wasn’t as closely tied to the characters of the first three books, Lyric and her guys do show up in this book a few times, which is always a nice bonus. I will never complain about reading about any of them!
Oakley was an interesting character, but in this book, I felt like Marcus was more of the star of this book. His character really grew throughout this book, and I was totally here for it. I genuinely liked him by the end of the book. He was everything for Oakley and gave her exactly what she needed when everyone else was being terrible to her. I loved them together so much throughout this book.
This book was so cute! The Ruined Records series is my favorite of Jillian Wests’. It has a completely different vibe and tone than the others. Whereas the first two books were more emotionally draining, I really liked that this one wasn’t. It wasn’t too intense nor too fluffy. I like how the pack came together and I really loved seeing that Marcus wasn’t a total ahole after all. Liam was a fabulous and funny addition to the group. Hawk was just kind of there for me - probably because I didn’t do a reread right before reading this book. I most likely would have felt more attached to his character if I had. I really like that Sullivan is sort of an a typical character. Jillian West does a really good job of weaving different types of people and characters into her story in a really normal and fluid way without making it feel soap boxy. Anyway, this was a great standalone in this series and I really enjoyed it! I cannot wait for the next generation!!!!
