She's the most beautiful woman he's ever met. She's also his archnemesis.
It would be an understatement to call Trevon Beaumont an accomplished monster slayer. He's traversed the European countryside upholding the legacy of his clan one completed mission at a time for the whole of his adult life. Now he's on his most perilous quest slay the cruel but beautiful Countess Dracula.
Just as the two of them seem ready to conclude their final battle, however, an unexpected act of betrayal sends them hurtling together through time—bloodbonding them, thus entwining their fates. Reappearing in the twenty-first century, they must get jobs and find a place to stay while they decide how best to proceed now that they are unable to continue their battle to the death.
But when Dracula rapidly develops a romantic obsession for Trevon, things get complicated. Even worse, Trevon's forced proximity to the queen of all creatures of the night means that his own self-control is constantly tested. What will become of their budding relationship? Will it be hot?
Headpats After Dark is a wholesome yandere romantic comedy written for men who enjoy the trope of obsessive women with a few screws loose. This is a work of fiction. If your significant other acts like Dracula does in this novel, those are red flags, people. Take heed.
This is not meant to be taken very seriously, and I didn't, but I still can't give this one that 5th star; just wasn't enough depth to clear that hurdle. However, if the blurb appeals, you will likely find this at least diverting (as did I) if not riveting (which I did not).
This was a fun book with a cool premise. No idea how it managed to be nearly 400 pages though as it just... Doesn't seem to have that much content in it. If you'd told me it was actually a novella I'd have believed you. I liked the setting and premise (it's so fun) and the dynamic of the MCs was nice. But the main draw of the story was very lacking.
There is almost no "romance" to speak of. Dracula more or less decides she's in love with her enemy Day 1 (chapter 2 or 3 I think) and then the rest of the book is him coming to terms with that and reciprocating. Reasons are not given for why people might do things, they just agonise about it and then they happen anyway.
The book is very "men writing women" at times and regularly comes across as unnecessarily crude and/or sleazy. I thought it was supposed to be cozy! I've read a lot of stuff over the years including stuff about heavy subjects, but this book is the only one that had me regularly wincing at the word choices.
Overall it *was* funny though and did have an enjoyable story. But I would have enjoyed it a lot more without the focus on sex that we see from both the characters and the narrative.
OK, OK -- it was only 5 stars if you simply accept that this is an utterly wacky read.
Dracula (exceptionally hot female, yeah, get over it) and her vampire hunter nemesis Trevor get sent through a time warp and get bonded together and land in rural Wisconsin. Because, well, why not?
And the ride goes on from there. You have to simply go with the craziness. Dracula is yandere to the max. Utterly, lethally, crazy jealous as a girlfriend.
Anyways, crazy antics, sudden adaptation to modern America, battles, insane attraction, sex, and a wildly charming ending. Because, well, why not?
This one just didn't mesh well with me. Most of my personal hang-ups with the story feel more like issues with the *type* of story it is versus the story itself. Situations and characters escalate and evolve very rapidly. One of the leads' personalities shifts quite suddenly. There is a heavy emphasis on smut. All of these things feel very intentional, though, like it's aiming to provide a specific kind of fantasy fulfillment. This, combined with a few laugh-out-loud moments make it 2 out of 5 for me personally, and isn't a judgement of the overall quality.
Overall I really loved it. The interactions between Mira and Trevon are great. When he speaks oldschool it's funny. Him cleaning the toilet was a banger. Was a fun ride.
Fun story about a demon hunter and a witch. They are sent into the future where there is no need for a witch, even less so for a demon hunter. They realize they need each other to figure out and survive in this strange future world. The witch Countess Vladimira (Mira) is more than a handful for him as she is more than slightly obsessive regarding him and any woman he so much as talks to. Fun story to read.
A genderbent yandere Dracula gets isekai-ed with her arch-nemesis from Castlevania into the modern day and they fall madly in love. IF you understood that sentence and didn't have to look anything up, this book is for you.
This wholesome little book of smut is made for nerds who grew up with castlevania and said yeah but what if the castle was just foreplay?!
There is just enough plot here to keep the characters moving, but that wasn’t the point of the book. The point is to have fun reading about a crazy—and amusing—version of Dracula and her monster hunter boyfriend coming to terms with each other. It’s a fast and easy read with tons of dark humor.
It's not meant to be taken seriously but I couldn't deal with the "monstrous" aspect of Dracula who kills random innocents every once in a while and gets away with nothing more than a chastising. There are some pretty funny passages, but the morbidity of everything just didn't mix well with a romance. It's disturbing to cross the romance and gore streams - just don't do that. It's gross. Dropped.
A very fun, absurdist read to pass the time. Mira was absolutely adorable, in a crazy kind of way. Only wish it would have been longer or maybe split into a couple of books. There are parts where the story felt a bit rushed and skipped around.
What happens when a vampire hunter and the when kid vampires are cursed and tethered to one another? You get this story. And honestly it’s awesome. Lots of crazy. Some good adult content and lots of humor.
I had the best time reading this book. It was fun and entertaining. The story and characters were interesting and engaging. I would love to read more like this. This book is definitely worth checking out.
Virgil Knightley hits it outta the park with this one. Normally, not a fan of vampires but HAD to root for these two lovebirds! Toss in a Grim Reaper and you've got a repeat listen or read.
For me, this straddles the line between "cringey but funny" and "too cringey to stand".
It's weirdly well written, and oddly enjoyable, but it's hard to gloss over how dumb it is at the same time. Also, I found the ending a bit rushed and unsatisfactory.
I loved the gender swap, and the jealous villain was a stroke of genius. Even the oldest child was great. I sincerely hope that the rest of you out there enjoy it as much as I did. Great Job.
From monster hunter to boyfriend to a woman, demon, monster... Whatever Mira is she put the Cray Cray in crazy girlfriend! This was a funny twist on the concept. I enjoyed and recommend it.
It was a nice leisure book to listen to in between my long high fantasy series. I liked the MMC and FMC together very much. They had this cite beast boy and raven energy I related to and greatly appreciated.
I don’t know about it being a comedy so much as a really great tongue-in-cheek joyride from start to finish. The intro was a blast from the past with amazing Fan Service and the ending was better than I hoped for. Now where is Alucard?
Silly palate cleanser that was great while shoveling snow. The first 5 hours were hilarious, but then it turned sappy and lasted too long. Still worth the laughs. Dracula as a clingy / jealous girlfriend of the monster hunter is a fantastic idea.
This is my first book that I've read and not listened to in a long time and it's my first romance book that I've read through. I really liked it. I didn't know what to expect and it was better than what I would have expected.
Masterpiece of Yandere and mono romance writing. It was fun and spicy, but also filled with amazing twists and turns and funny reactions from Dracula to the modern world.
Thoroughly disappointing, especially after how hyped up it was on Reddit and on here. The concept itself is good and a little surreal, which does lend itself to some very funny moments throughout. The quality of the writing is also good and easy to read. That's the best I can say about it.
It's a shame there's not more romance novels aimed at men that have actual development and plot.
