I'm actually trying to read less review copies and more books I buy myself. Not because those review copies aren't awesome, but because it feels like the books I buy constantly have to wait. However, when I got an e-mail from BookSirens notifying me that the second book in the Odessa Baker Psychic Mysteries series was available there was no way I was gonna refuse. The first book was entertaining and well written and I was curious what was waiting for us in this book.

I was once more really pleasantly surprised by this book. There is almost no romance in this book and yet I didn't miss it for a second either. Firstly because we get to meet Dee's family in this book. Her brother because he's actually showing up and moving in. Her sister because unexpectedly the new case has a connection with her which helps us to get to know her a little. And I liked that therefore Dee's life seemed to become richer.

I was also very pleasantly surprised by the Alice in Wonderland elements in this story. I'm a huge fan of Wonderland and I always love a book a little more when Wonderland makes an appearance. I have to admit that I still have a few questions about this version of Wonderland and some motives, but I'm pretty sure this storyline isn't completely over yet. I will therefore try to wait very patiently for the next book to see if my questions are answered in that one.

I also didn't miss the romance because the case Dee is trying to solve is really interesting. There is a lot going on and where at first it seems that Dee has issues focussing, we discover that maybe things are a little more connected than we thought. I really like how so many elements are coming together in the finale and there were a few really touching moments, and my eyes teared up, during what felt like some sort of epilogue.

If BookSirens lets me know the third book is available I might make an exception to "lessening my amount of review copies" again!

I adored the first book in the series, and have been looking forward to this book for quite some time. Last night, I grabbed it, thinking I would just read one chapter. Around 1am, I was debating whether or not I was awake enough for the final chapters.

This book did not disappoint.

Dee is a psychic who finds people by entering their dreams and gathering clues on how to find them. Of course, dreams are never straightforward and, lately, her dreams have been hijacked by a woman holding a rabbit. With her bank account nearly as low as her faith in her abilities, Dee gets offered the chance to find a missing heiress. Can Dee find her or will she add another failed customer review to her "Yelp" Collection.

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next book in the series. The author's ability to deftly navigate the dream world and her ability to sprinkle clues in ways that are only obvious in retrospect added a new depth to her prose.

Sometimes the second book in a series is disappointing to me. But Valerie Larouche ups her game with Odessa's second installment. I could feel her confusion trying to understand her dreams. I can't wait for book number three! Highly recommend this series! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Sleepless night

The second book of the Odessa series got me hooked from the get go. I finished the book in one evening/night.

We picked up with Dee being back in Montreal and not having the best of time. Her powers aren't working as good as she'd like and her reputation suffers from it. Quickly, I got intrigued by that glass room. What did it mean? When she is offered a case, the missing daughter of a rich family, she has no other choice but to take it.

Then her brother Jimmy walks back into her life and her universe goes waltzing.

I loved seeing the other side of the brother we didn't met in the first book. It certainly helped understanding the familial dynamic of the Bakers.

I missed uncle Lee and I wish we had seen more of him but I was glad that Jake was still around. And that her friendship with Alma remained strong. It is comforting to think that a real friendship can face anything.

The mystery surrounding Dee's past thickens and I can't wait to see where this is going to lead us.

A second time just as captivating as the first.

I found "Interference" an exciting addition to the Odessa Baker Psychic Mysteries series. Again, the story follows Dee, a psychic in Montreal, as she struggles with her dreams being hijacked by visions of a woman trapped in a glass room. Larouche skillfully blends the supernatural with everyday challenges, creating a compelling story. The character development, especially with Dee's troublesome family member, adds depth to the plot. As Dee takes on a major case, the suspense builds, and it kept me hocked until the last page of the book.

Dee is back to stay in her hometown of Montreal and she is going to use her gift to support her self. Thanks to Alma and her husband Carl she’s been referred to one of the wealthiest families in town the daughter Marianne Remblaice and it is a case she could probably saw very easily if not forgetting lost in the whole Alison Wonderland mystery not to mention the serious problems a long lost family member brings to her door. Just the descriptions of some of the dreams in these books can be very claustrophobic and that isn’t a bad thing the one in this book was about a girl in a room made of glass and then one of her first dreams and the others it filled up with water and OMG if I don’t get you sitting up in bed I don’t know what will. The authors talent for describing the dreams in my opinion is a rare one and that makes this far from being a cozy mystery but a legitimate missing person/murder mystery. I was so glad to see Jake was once again mentioned in this book because I hate when they have great characters never to be seen again but as I said not the case in the Odessa Baker Mystery series. Oh I am very new to paranormal mysteries but not so new I haven’t read some bad ones in this book is stellar a real great mystery with great imagination that in my opinion makes for a five star book. I want to thank Book Sirens, The author and publisher for this great arc please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

II actually enjoyed this one even more than the first book in the series. There is suspense and unexpected twists… it even make me cry a bit towards the end. It was definitely a page turner and made me look forward to the next book!
