Elliot just got out of a stormy relationship. Can Master Ede be his lighthouse and bring him safely home?
Master Ede hates Christmas.
After his last boy broke up with him—by sleeping with a man in his bed on Christmas Eve, no less—Ede’s given up on the holiday. It’s hard to have Christmas spirit when that’s all he can see when he thinks of mistletoe. The only celebration he allows himself is the annual Christmas auction hosted by his kink club, the Lighthouse. He plans on showing his face, doing a bit of voyeurism and heading home on his own. He doesn’t expect to meet Elliot.
Elliot hates his life.
He has a boyfriend who controls every aspect of it, from what he eats and what he wears to what position they use in the bedroom. Elliot knows better than to talk back, and he’s long ago given up on hoping that things will get better. After all, like his boyfriend says, he’s too stupid to take care of himself, and who else would want him?
When Elliot’s boyfriend takes him to an auction and sells him off without his permission, he knows things need to change. Then he meets Ede, and for the first time in his life, he thinks maybe things can get better. Maybe, there really is a light at the end.

A Light at the End - Explores the transformative power of love and resilience against a backdrop of past trauma and heartache.
The MC, Master Ede, harbors a deep aversion to Christmas following a painful breakup that left him disillusioned with the holiday spirit. However, fate takes an unexpected turn during the annual Christmas auction at his kink club, the Lighthouse, where he encounters Elliot—a young man trapped in an oppressive relationship. Ede's protective instincts kick in, leading him to bid on Elliot and offer him sanctuary from his troubled past.
The narrative skillfully delves into the complexities of abusive relationships, tackling themes of physical and emotional abuse, domestic violence, and assault. KD Ellis portrays Everett's journey from a life of despair to newfound hope with sensitivity and empathy. The characters, particularly Ede and Everett, are well-developed and relatable. Ede's softer approach to being a Dom adds depth to his character, creating a balance that resonates with the overarching theme of healing and redemption.
The story's overall tone is sweet and occasionally cheesy, akin to a Hallmark movie, providing readers with a heartwarming and enjoyable experience. Despite the touch of angst, the well-crafted narrative leads to a satisfying happily-ever-after, offering a sense of closure and triumph over adversity.
While not a long read, "A Light at the End" is a recommendable book, especially for those who appreciate the feel-good charm of classic Hallmark movies. The author's ability to infuse warmth into the narrative makes this a delightful exploration of love's power to heal and restore even the most wounded hearts.
This was the first book that I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it. It's literally like a Hallmark movie in words! Everett has been in a terrible BDSM relationship for several years. His "Master" physically and emotionally abused him in all the worst ways possible, culminating in him being "sold" at a charity auction - without any warning! Ede, is an extremely wealthy businessman and part owner of a BDSM club. When he sees the obviously terrified boy on the auction stand his protective instincts urge him to bid on Everett. From their very first encounter, Ede is able to discern just what kind of horrors Everett has been living with and he offers him a place to stay and a helping hand. Everett can hardly believe that anyone would be so kind to him but the longer he is with Ede the more he starts to bloom. The overall vibe of the story is definitely on the over-the-top sweet but it works for the characters and the plot. Sometimes a little cheesy, but, hey, who doesn't like a little cheese now and then, and it definitely made for an enjoyable read. While there is a little bit of angst, it's handled well and thankfully leads to a HEA! Ede was a bit on the softer side of being a Dom, but his character stayed consistent throughout and that made it work. This wasn't a particularly long read but I did enjoy and can definitely recommend it for others. If you like classic Hallmark movies then you're sure to enjoy this book!
