4.5* Spoiler free... This, was a really good duet read. She was promised to him early in her life, both not realizing the forces behind the scenes pulling the strings. If anything, despite his past actions and maybe because of them, S is devoted, honorable, loyal and loving. He is also remorseful and failing to save one was a force driving him to save another. 'Don't trust anyone, including close family....'. But can they trust each other? Will they be each other downfall or savior? Too many secrets, so many interests and great love that evolves through the years and will stand the test of time....
A close ending and a HEA, BUT I hope there will be more books in this world, because there are characters I'm curious about...
Going to be totally honest, I was a little shocked by how absolute mediocre this is. Maybe even a little less than mediocre, unfortunately.
There was no chemistry. The relationship never rang quite true--and I wouldn't have necessarily cared that much that the romance wasn't there (because with this author, that's not necessarily what I'm here for) if the sexual chemistry was. And it wasn't.
I thought, for the most part, the mystery aspect of the plot was done pretty well (I had my suspicions, but she did keep my guessing) it was all pretty messy.
I picked this one up because I wanted something a little brainless (hence the lack of rating--I don't read things like this for the quality, but for the sheer entertainment and vibes) but I still wanted to feel something. I still wanted to be entertained. I got neither of those things.

One blood oath taken together changes everything for young Madelena at the age of Fifteen. But that's what's expected of her yet she is not prepared at all for all the Intense and mysterious puzzle wrapped up in a handsome package that is Santos Augustine.
Madelena has a deep secret that she can't share with anyone and she feels lonely because she is shunned even by her own friends. But somehow the one person who's supposed to be her Enemy, turns out to be her savior in the nick of time, whenever she needs him.
I was instantly charmed with all the magnetic mystery that is Santos Augustine. A man who's so powerful and looks like him, yet has a sense of control and personality that is just like a true man should be. I'M MESMERIZED BY SANTOS F**KING AUGUSTINE AND WOULD LOVE TO TAKE MADELENA'S PLACE ANYDAY. 😻😻😻
I felt sometimes really irritated with Madelena though. When she would let go where she's supposed to be angry and then at times would speak out and get angry at Santos for no reason. So many times I wanted to scream at her to speak up or at times to stop acting like a child with Santos. I hope we see her grow up a little in the next one.
But there are deep and dark secrets buried on each side and those little glimpses thrown at each turn just had me oh so wanting to know so badly what happened in the past and how is it all connected.
The warnings that Santos doesn't heed to about trusting no one, what does that mean and so many more questions that I'm going absolutely crazy wanting to find answers to.
And THEN THAT ENDING COMES OUT OF NOWHERE. OH MY.... I'M FREAKING OUT.. DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN. 😱😱😱😯😯
I'm so scared and nervous to find out what will happen next as that ending will leave you completely shaken and screaming to know what happens next. AHH what a ride. ❤️❤️❤️
This conclusion to Santos and Madelena's story has left me shocked and soo so much in love with the love that Santos and Madelena share together. 😍😍
First off, these two... Oh my Freaking Goodness. Santos and Madelena are just something else in this one. That scene I've highlighted above is one of absolute favorite scenes and there are so many such moments that will pierce your heart, Moments that are filled with so much heat and rough passion and yet have a tenderness to them, a Sweetness that Madelena and Santos will make you feel.
AHH... These two.. I can't believe we are done with their book and honestly after reading this one, I'm already feeling how these they have made a place in my heart and I'm gonna keep on thinking about them for the days to come.
The freaking secrets though.. What I loved about the twists is that one moment you feel like you know things now and the next, just like Santos is left confused so are you thinking that maybe it's not like that.
The build to the finale was wicked good as I was turning the pages so freaking fast and then when the secrets kept on coming right and left, I was shocked and wide-eyed as to what all the cryptic messages always meant.
This one will have you glued to the pages. I'm so addicted to what Santos and Madelena have made me feel. Their bond might have started out as something unusual but where they take you will leave you feeling so full of warmth and light and acceptance and Healing and Passion that takes your breath away, yet makes you feel full of life.
“I forgot you are unaccustomed to being wanted. Being loved. That ends here and now.”
3.5 stars
• age gap • spicy mafia romance • forced/arranged marriage
This was a dark romance I was able to easily sink into with a mystery aspect, though the romance is where it really shines and the mystery stuff felt a bit forced.
After his family kills her beloved uncle, Santos is betrothed to Madelena though neither wants it. The deal is to get married when she turns 20 (at the time she’s 15 and he’s 25) and in the meantime, Santos is so disgusted with how her father isn’t trying to protect her that he vows to. They don’t see each other much after their betrothal, but his protection quickly escalates into extreme measures she isn’t happy about (though they do keep her safe).
When the time comes to marry it starts out rough - they’re both deeply traumatized by their pasts. Santos from what he’s been forced to do for his family since he was a teenager and Madelena from her mother’s tragic death (on top of everything else). But they manage to fall in love as they see the turmoil in each other and come to be a source of comfort and support for one another. There’s a situation in book 2 that I loved seeing Santos be so unconditionally supportive of how she wanted to handle it, and her reassuring him that he’s not a monster was beautiful. The spice between them was hot and I liked that when he “disciplined” her it was done intentionally, not him lashing out in anger.
The mystery was pretty underwhelming and unsatisfying. I felt things were really obvious and attempts to make me doubt it came off as forced. It’s not a story that’s very memorable to me, but that being said there were some twists I didn’t see coming and the motivations behind the villain’s actions were a surprise and more complex than I thought.
This was my first experience with Natasha Knight’s books and I can’t wait to read more from her!
Another really good duet by Natasha! There were some twists I wasn’t expecting, some I had a feeling of early on in the book, and there was 1 certain thing I wasn’t was hoping wouldn’t be real but unfortunately was.
I loved both Madelena and Santos. Santos was not like a lot of other guys in Natasha’s books. He was protective and caring for Madelena from the start. As soon as she became his when she was 15, him 25, he made sure she was always safe until she was 20 and he’d come for her. There was no cruel or harsh words, he was just a really good guy from the beginning. One thing I was a little hesitant about with this one was him having a past that involved a girlfriend being killed and her being pregnant when he was 17. I’ve read other books where he’s so hung up on the past that he pushes the girl away and can’t move forward. Santos wasn’t like that. His past was a very big driving force when it came to his want for vengeance, but it didn’t stop him from loving Madelena.
I love All Natasha Knight stories so of course I knew I would love this one too! And I did! I was pleasantly surprised in how much mystery was involved! You had a nice bit of the dark romance she is known and loved for and then she through in some murder mystery and suspense! It was great! I loved loved loved the MMC Santos’s! He was too me just all around perfect! ( a lion on a leash!) my only problem was with the mfc Madelena, she was such an immature downright mean brat! I was like she don’t deserve him!!!!! But it was still an excellent story and very much worth reading!!!!!
Loved that I could read this as a boxset. Always easier to read it seamlessly. What a read!! Natasha is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. Her characters are usually not pure evil or goodie two shoes but a healthy mix of spice and always keeps me on the edge of my seat (and awake way later than what I should be) I loved the plot development in this drama. It has twists and turns and I loved how it ended. Read it! Im not going to spoil it for you ;)
I loved the writing style, the story and all the plotwists. I discoverd that I don't like the powerfull men manipulating women. So That's why I gave it three stars. But overall, great story and backgrounds!
