I write contemporary romantic suspense featuring alpha heroes who fall madly in love with the woman they're meant to be with—but who doesn't keel over, just because he's super-gorgeous, attentive, and overprotective.

Join their wild ride to Happy-Ever-After, jam-packed with heart-wrenching dark pasts, exciting obstacles, and sizzling chemistry.

When I'm not writing, I'm busy being a mom to the world's best kiddos or trying to keep my home under control (somehow I can't seem to make that one work). I'm an IT-Tech by day and by night I love to lose myself in a good romance book with a swoon-worthy hero and a kick-ass heroine.

An awesome start to this new series. Carter is part of an undercover operation and saves Edith from becoming entangled in the operation. They keep meeting by coincidence and become more and more attracted to one another. Both have past issues which lead them to not love very easily but when Edith finds herself in the middle of a trafficking ring, all bets are off.

This was an awesome read with a great storyline. It has suspense and intrigue that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The connection between the characters is instant and their chemistry is off the charts. It was great to see old characters from previous books and to meet Edith’s sisters and their potential love interests. A must read. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

So, this book was entertaining enough. I was able to finish it, so that's good. There were definitely issues though, both proofreading/editing and story-wise. I don't think I have read this author before, but I'm hoping later books are a little more cohesive.

So, there were definitely editing issues, such as a wrong word used and even missing words. A proofread would have caught these, so it makes me wonder who is editing this (if anyone).

Story-wise, there are issues with the writing, for sure. The author throws in way to much background info and happenings out of nowhere. For example, I don't remember it being mentioned that Dorothy had foster kids, but then all of a sudden she had one and he died. Wow, really? Was that even necessary to the story? And this comes at the same time where she was kidnapped and saved, but nothing was really explained about that. Everyone just goes about their day.

The very first instance of the issues is at the very beginning. A stranger comes up and kisses her, taking her away from the ex-husband, and he tells her that he will explain when they are out of earshot. Well... yeah, that never happened. No explanation, he just dumps her at the elevator and moves on. And then when she sees him later on the bus and plane, she never even asks about it, either. I don't know about you, but I have never had a hot sexy man randomly kiss me in a hotel lobby for not reason. If I did, I might actually ask about it.

And then there was the mill. She had already told them that there are some suspicious things going on there. Why wasn't it ever investigated? This makes no sense to me. They just let it go, and then it ends up being where they take her anyway.

I don't care for insta-love stories most of the time. This one wasn't instant, but it was within 2 weeks-ish, so close enough. I just wish there were more between them.
And then there is this thing with the cartel leader. He randomly focused on her for years, and then tried to manipulate her into a relationship? Dude, that's not how it works. And why her? I don't get it.

I will try the next book in the series, and hopefully things are a little more fleshed out. I don't know if I would recommend this one to others, though.

Like seriously hot, overprotective Alpha heroes? Then this book is a must read! Carter and all of the men who work with him in his Sec Ops Group are definitely all that and more. Carter is used to being rather aloof and distant when it comes to entanglements, one night stands being his norm. When he first observes Edith, he is in the middle of a mission which he mucks up in order to rescue her from her smarmy ex. The shared kiss produces more sparks than either would have thought possible, before he leaves to try and recover the mission. Fate keeps putting them together and they both end up in her home town. His team is investigating missing women and children, and human trafficking that can be traced to her town. After two disastrous marriages, Edith is dismayed to be so attracted to Carter, who she only knows as a wealthy playboy specializing in real estate deals. After Carter buys a property in town that Edith was trying to secure for an unknown client, (which leads to her being fired), she is determined to keep her distance from the hotshot playboy. She starts to soften toward him more when she learns about his connection with her widowed sister. A series of ominous incidents forces Edith into needing some help and protection, which Carter is all too eager to provide. Passion flares between them, hearts become involved, but both fail to reveal their feelings to the other for various reasons that boil down to personal insecurities and trust. Missed chances and words not said haunt them both when Edith is put into a perilous situation. Will they get a chance at a happily ever after? Will they be brave enough to take it?

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Prior to picking up Hero of my Dreams, book one in the Sec Ops Group series, I never knew of the author. My decision to read this book was based primarily on the synopsis. It ended up being a good decision. I enjoyed the story and I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

Hero of my Dreams delivered what I would expect from a romantic suspense. A protective and swoon worthy hero, a strong and independent heroine, a romance to warm your heart and a suspense thread which will keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

The romance featured here was authentic and relatable. Edith and Carter, despite their strong personalities, feared surrendering their hearts. Edith never had luck with relationships in the past, while Carter never met a woman who wanted him for himself rather than his millions. The feelings growing between them were a novelty for them both. They had difficulty navigating these desires as a result, with their biggest challenges being communication and the need to control every area of their lives.

The suspense thread was well done, and it had me on tenterhooks. A feeling which intensified when the heroine at one point made a careless decision. Unlike the romance thread, the suspense angle has yet to be tied up. The threat has yet to be neutralized.

The secondary characters stirred the ingredients of the story, which aided in enhancing the flavor of the story. It also made me curious about their stories.

While reading, I discovered this series was a spin-off of the author’s Moon Lake series. A series which I plan to pick someday.

Set in a small town, Hero of my Dreams delivered a solid read which will appeal to fans of the genre.

This is book one in The Sec Ops Group Series and it is Carter and Edith's story and omg it is definitely a must read. Even though Carter is a Billionaire and is seen as being a shallow person and a playboy that is not who he really is and what people don't know is that he is in fact a shadow fighter working with his team to rid the world of bad people by taking them out in any way possible. Edith works in real estate and also volunteers at her best friend Carol's non profit organisation called Little Women's Home that helps pregnant girl's and teenagers get off the street's and gives them a chance at a better life but at the moment two of the girl's had gone missing but at the moment she was in Jamacia looking for a property for a client and also having a bit of a holiday at the same time so when she gets home she will help Carol find out what is happening. When Carter and Edith meet there is a strong chemistry between them but things don't always go as planned as Carter was there on a assignment but then they meet again when they both return in the town where Edith lived and Carter found himself unable to stay away from her but danger has arrived making things even more complicated but will Carter and Edith get a chance of being together or will it all be taken away from them. I absolutely loved this book with all it's twists and turns along the way and I couldn't put it down as it was so addictive and I can't wait to read more books in this series. Kat Bammer is a new author to me but I definitely look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

DNF. Didn’t make sense and it’s disjointed.

Firstly the spacing. I seem to be a broken record lately on this but it’s annoying me. There’s one word on a line. One word! Edith phoned her friend,
“Hey.”
“It’s me. Are you still okay to pick me up?”
It’s like this all way through, and yes I checked. I don’t understand why there’s only one word on a line. It’ll shorten the book massively!

Then there’s the writing. The author wants us to believe that Carter goes up to Edith who is talking to her ex husband. Unbeknown to Edith her ex is part of something really bad, and Carter’s company is on a mission to stop them. So when he interrupts her ex husband who is trying to drag her off somewhere, he goes up to them and pretends he’s with Edith and kisses her. They walk to the elevators and he says to Edith we’ll talk in a minute, but he doesn’t explain anything! He just puts her on the elevator and walks off! Even weirder the next day Edith is on a bus that Carter and one of his team is on, and she doesn’t demand to know why he kissed her??? 😂😂😂 They just sit and ignore each other. It’s bizarre, and it wouldn’t happen!

The writing is so disjointed and jumps around that I couldn’t care less about either of them. What sort of person doesn’t demand to know why someone kissed them?? I had to laugh when I read a review that said about how pretty Carter is. I have to agree that I went on the cover of the book. 😂🙈

This was a romantic thriller. It is about Carter, a veteran and a playboy billionaire and Edith, a successful businesswoman who has 2 ex-husbands behind her and who is fearful of entering a new relationship. It was a good solid book. I really liked the characters. They were true to themselves. Edith was in her late thirties and didn’t take any flak. She was very much a feminist but was able to be vulnerable and open too. Carter was 40 and struggling with his first real relationship. He was very much an alpha male but one who was secure enough in himself that he didn’t need to diminish Edith and her independence. In fact, he was very cognizant of that. Edith also didn’t jump to misunderstandings all the time and they did communicate well. My only issues were that descriptors for people and places were lacking. I don’t have a good idea of what Carter and Edith and all the others look like. I would have appreciated a bit more detail about the places and maybe more background on the characters especially Carter and the supporting cast. Overall, it was a good book and I enjoyed reading it. I appreciated not having to deal with immature main characters.

This was a great story and if it is any indication it is going to be a great series this is my first read by this author but I enjoyed it so much I have now bought her previous works and that says something when you think of how many romantic suspense authors there are out there

This book is the perfect combination of suspense and drama with a healthy dose of romance Carter is a veteran who now has a reputation as a playboy business man but what no one but his group know is that he is the leader of Sec Ops a shadow group determined to take down the evil that prays on women and children. Edith is a real estate businesswoman with two failed marriages behind her who gives her time to a shelter for pregnant teens They first meet in Jamaica where they are both conducting business and the attraction is immediate but neither wants to come out from the walls they have built around themselves When they return home two missing teens draw them back together will they be able to solve the mystery and will they admit what they both want You will have to read to see

This book was my introduction to Kat Bammer and I have to say I'm a fan! Carter and Edith are both strong lead characters in this romantic suspense/drama. They are well fleshed out and both very likeable, and also both have a good sized group of family or friends as secondary characters who support the story line well.
It was nice to see slightly older leads in this story - Carter is 40 and Edith 38. Both characters come with believable pasts and have carefully crafted supports who allow seemingly coincidental acquaintances, friends and relatives to enter and flesh out the storylines. If you enjoy great banter between the leads then this one has it in spades.
I read this one the day that I received it - it was quite the page turner and had me hooked from the start and invested in Carter and Edith's story. I love it when a writer can grab you like that!

I received a free copy from Voracious Readers Only in return for an honest review. This one was an absolute pleasure to read. I would recommend it without hesitation and am looking forward to diving into other work by Kat.

This author has done it again. I loved this romance story with a side of suspense. This book will have you flipping the pages to see what happens next. Although this can be read as a standalone, you will recognize some of the characters from her Moon Lake series, if you’ve read those books. This book is centered around Edith and Carter. When they first meet, Carter is on an op and he jeopardizes it by getting Edith away from the man who grabs her arm. It turns out the man is her slimy ex-husband, Don. Carter and Edith have amazing chemistry and they keep running into each other. It’s not all roses with them, as we learn from reading this amazing book. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say, if you love small town romance centered around friends and family, you will enjoy this book.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Carter is a man haunted by his past regrets. He becomes a man on a mission to save innocent women and children from predators and sex traffickers. Carter has a military background and being a billionaire is helping obtain his objectives with success.
Edith is a realtor who helps at a women's shelter where some women have gone missing. Carter is not sure what role she plays in his current operation but fate keeps throwing her in his path. Their attraction could get in the way or help them solve a mystery and achieve a successful mission.
This book is well written and though could be read as a stand alone, it flows easily with the author's Moon Lake series. I love those books and the characters really bring life to a community such as theirs'.

This book has been renamed, and was previously titled Hero of My Dreams, and is now called Midas Touch
Carter AKA Midas and Edith appear in Shattered Stone the final book in the Moon Lake series.
Edith stumbles into Carter’s op, and he feels compelled to rescue her. So he might have kissed her to do so, but as she’s a stunner it’s no hardship.
Edith is on holiday, and is nice and relaxed, nothing like her usual uptight persona. It was no hardship to be kissed by a handsome man. Especially when it got her away from her ex. She doesn’t need a man, no way, no how, even if thoughts of the kisser keep on intruding.
Little do they know that karma has more in store for them.
I love his couple. The author shows that just because you’re older that you don’t always have it all together. I liked how Edith came to realise she didn’t have to always be a tough cookie, and Carter could have his HEA. This story is a great start to the Security Operations Bravo series.

I received a review reader’s copy of the book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I like Carter. I like that he plays up his jet setting ways while all along he is a good man being a great hero and taking action against those that hurt others. I like his team and the way they interact and how they have each other's back. I like how Edith is so strong and so determined and how she stands tall on her own. I like how they fall together. I like their story. I love the team and their story. I like the action. The writing is well done. I actually read this book after I read Max and Millli's story, but it didn't matter. Nicely done.

Carter keeps popping up in Edith's life. They have amazing chemistry, but neither is in the market for any type of relationship. I love him, the perfect hero. But she's no slouch, either. A wonderful romance, the suspense surrounding a criminal mystery, family issues, good friends... all come together in a quite engaging book. I particularly enjoyed the connection to Moon Lake, having loved that entire series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the first book in this new series, everyone thinks Carter is a rich player. That is the cover that he has to keep hiding the real reason that to travels so much. When he sees Edith for the first time, he is intrigued that she is alone, however when she shows up during the middle of a op. He knows that he has to get her out of there even if it blows his cover. What transpires after that is a whole lot more than any of them realized.

Not bad, but not great

I like books with danger and romance, but a good part of the book could have been scraped. It's all about I like him/her, but they don't fit into my life. I'm too independent to fall for it again, or I love them, then leave them. If goes in and on and on. A little less of that and a little more storyline of danger would have made this better.
Don't get me wrong, it's a decent book, but we could have saved 100 pages with all the repeats... I won't continue the series.

Looks like a great new series and this first book has billionaire playboy Carter and his team chasing down child traffickers and Edith who is in real estate and her biggest deal gets taken from her by Carter. They are both older adults with no attachments and as much as she wants to hate him for getting the property she wanted for the company she works for she can not deny the attraction she feels for him. There is some suspense along with romance in this book and lovely characters.

Story needs help

To many things left out or skipped over. To many people, to much going on, with really no rhyme or reason......a sister gets kidnapped and you nothing about it till its over. A boy dies and there is nothing more than one sentence about it. To much omitted and nothing finished.
