He enjoys creating characters who have flaws, crazy thoughts and a tendency to make bad decisions. Zane’s stories are emotionally-charged and don’t shy away from darker themes. After all, they do say there is no light without the dark.

In the fourth book of the Broken Boys series, our MC Mike digs deeper into his pit of submission, with writer Menzy putting Mike through some interesting and extreme places. His continuing fascination with his stepfather gets put front and center, as well his the complete humiliation of his former baby sitter. It's clear that something dark is going on inside master Jockey's mind, and Mike is bound to be caught up in something sinister sooner or later.

Like always, I really enjoy Menzy's books. I'd rather have had the next Candy Boy installment, but this series is pretty good and a bit different. There is still a lot of D/s issues, as well as exploration of themes such as submission being ingrained inside the MC, the same attraction to the stepfather, etc. Here, though, MC Mike is a lot more likeable than Levi Candy, and I feel a bit sorry for him and how he's being used by Jockey.

The only thing preventing this from being a four star read for me is the countless spelling and grammatical mistakes. I don't think it's too hard to hand out ARCs to readers if you can't hire a proofreader, because Menzy clearly needs one.

1.5 stars, but rounding up because it had the flavour of a disaster you can't avert your eyes from. This series has just gotten more trashy and depraved with each book. I honestly couldn't tell you why I'm still here reading this. I'm not really even enjoying it, I hate every single character. Mike is so, so dumb and so pathetic, Jockey is gross. The side characters are just really awful. This ended in a way that definitely hints at more to come, but I don't know if I'll have the patience for it.

Well I don't know where this is going but it's definitely going there. Still not great litterature but I'm weirdly invested and I'm curious to see when it'll become too much for me and whether it's gonna be the ridiculoussness of the "alphaness" taken so far or the kink that does it. Some of it definitely gets into gross territory but the scenes are short enough that I can skim other it but I don't think it's going to get any tamer in that aspect so we'll see how long it takes.
I'm also curious to know how many books are planned because they seem to get slightly bigger each time and the "plot" make it seem like the ending will take a while to come.

Disappointing ending

I really enjoyed being immersed in this four part saga of Mike and his coming of age story but was disappointed that the ending was so unsatisfying. Perhaps the author will revisit this tale one day and clear up the unanswered plot points. Meanwhile, I’ll miss Mike, Jockey, Gavin and Trent. Not so much Daimian and Moose.

So glad I discovered this Broken Boys series. These characters are just so entertaining I have never eaten up a series faster! Hangin for the next one.
