Raven Academy #2

Shadow Dweller

Rate this book
My father is a villain, despised by all at Raven Academy for wanting to exterminate the impure. Even being an elusive shadowbringer can't shield me from his sins.

As an outcast, my only hope of redemption is unlocking the shadows hidden inside of me. It should be easy to do but there’s something blocking my powers.

If the gorgeous, infuriating leader of the shadowbringers discovers the true cause behind my suppressed powers, he will be furious. That’s why I must keep it a secret.

The only hope I have is to shed the chains that are binding my shadows so that I can aid in the looming battle between good and evil.

Worth the wait

This was worth the wait, I love the first book, and the series is not complete yet, but it's getting closer. I enjoyed the tension between them and the almost/accidental bond with a certain someone . Overall, it's well written and has a great pace with a unique plot.

This book was an AMAZING ride!!!

I’ve been dying for this book to come out. Wow did it deliver! The chemistry burned hot right out of the gate. Between the mystery and the sexual tension, I devoured this book. I’ve been a loyal fan for years because Brandi Elledge never disappoints me!

Twisty turns and heart-stopping moments await you in this stunningly written second book. It's filled with delicious angst and frustrating chemistry. I'm still so torn on which guy to claim as my next book boyfriend because they’re both smexy, and yet I really want to throat punch them at the same time. I loved, loved, loved this even when I hated it and wanted to chuck my phone into the rubbish pile. The world building is spectacular, and the characters are memorable and absolutely hang worthy. I'd love to actually be able to step into these unputdownable pages and exist in this setting.

Raven Academy is a perfect blend of dystopian peril, hilighting the value of friendship and the importance of self-worth. This is my favorite series by the amazing Brandi Elledge, and I honestly want to go back to the first book, Shadow Bringer, and start the tale all over again. With humor, danger, and alluring moments, this should be your new addiction, too! I can't wait to fan girl with you!

The book is set shortly after the first book of the series, ‘Shadow Bringer’ so make sure to read the first book before this one. I recommend both of these books!

After Riley is taken to the Raven Academy, she is having a lot of trouble fitting in. Although she is technically a Shadow Bringer, she can’t access her powers for some reason. Not only that but her father is the scientist behind all of the torture and experiments being done on the impure, including none other than the sister of Asher, the leader of the Shadow Bringer faction. Asher should hate her but he can’t seem to stay away from Riley and seems to be jealous of her relationship with the vampire Castian. Riley can’t figure out what Asher wants from her. One minute he is avoiding her, the next he is worried about her safety.

Castian and Riley accidentally started a bond by their previous stunt so now there seems to be a love triangle that Riley is in the middle of. She's not sure what's genuine and what’s not but because of the bond, she goes along with Castian’s plans even though it puts her in danger over and over again.

She thinks that if she can save Asher’s sister, he would be able to look over the fact that she is the daughter of a bad man. Meanwhile, she is still trying to tap into her shadows, navigate training, staying away from the big bad sexy vampire, with no luck.

I absolutely love Riley. She is so caring and sassy. She will be quick to say what’s exactly on her mind but just as quick to sacrifice herself for someone else. Riley is lonely and lacks confidence but in this book you get to see Riley grow into herself.

Ending on yet again another cliffhanger, I am eager for the next book to come out!

New and interesting

This series doesn't fit any regular tropes. It is unique and entertaining. I normally wait for a series to be finished before reading, but these two were quite good, despite the cliff hanger. Well written and edited.

Brilliant

I’ve read both the first two books in about 8 hours of reading town. Really easy reads and so captivating. I’m invested in the characters and what an ending to this one!!! I have to go adult for the day but really all I want to do is read book 3.

Good Plot

I read book 1 and continued to book 2. I do like the plot and all, but I don’t think much happened in book 2 and the pace is very slow. I wish this book had more info , and a faster pace.

This book was much better than book 1 in writing quality. The dialogue was a lot less cringe and I'm liking the plot progression. Still not a masterpiece that I would reread but ill continue reading the plot because I do like the premise

Shadow Dweller is the second book in the Raven Academy series by the supremely talented Brandi Elledge. I absolutely LOVE Ms. Elledge’s books- she is one of my favourite authors- so it was a given that I would be reading this Book. But to say I was blown away is an understatement- I couldn’t have loved it more than I do!
This is a wonderful fantasy that captured me right from the beginning- giving me an instant addiction where I couldn’t have put it down, even if I’d wanted to- it is completely riveting!!! The story is woven around shadowbringers, shifter, witches, vampires, an academy for young immortals, magic, sci-fi, action, adventure, secrets, banter, humour, chemistry, romance, danger, drama, good vs evil, family, friendship, emotion, and has a bit of a dystopian setting and feel.
Riley has been raised in a sheltered ‘puritan’ community that keeps its inhabitants safe from the impure that have wreaked havoc on the world. With vampire’s, witches, shifters, and the deadly shadowbringers roaming the world, the communities offer the only real safe havens for the pure. But all that changes on her 18th birthday when she's whisked off to the Raven Academy, a school for the ‘impure’ immortals - and she realises that she has a steep learning curve ahead of her. Add in some sizzling chemistry and a couple of hunky immortals, and the story takes an even more intriguing turn. You really should read all the exciting developments for yourself; you are bound to love it as much as I do.
Let the adventure begin!
Brilliant!
Can't wait for more from Ms. Elledge.
Happy Reading…

OMG, the chemistry!!! This is the second book in the series and I will tell you now that this series will never be long enough!!!

The characters are so delicious and so rich in personality that they feel like they are real people in your life. The character development throughout the book (well both books) carries on strong and they really start to become a 3d entity. On top of that, the world-building is flawless. You can really envision this world and all the surroundings. Top marks for the attention to detail as well.

I have no idea which boy will come out on top- and I hate having to choose (so I'm not) - but I enjoy seeing the story unfold and take shape. Action-packed and always on the edge of my seat with this book! I can't wait for the next one- especially with that ending!!

So worth the pushing through of book 1. I enjoyed this. I love how much Castian is all over Asher. I really enjoyed their back & forth and the love triangle set up is really good. At this point, I wish it was a clean Why Choose bc honestly Riley needs them both lol.
