Gossamer Falls #1

Just Like Magic

Rate this book
Adam Shephard is not in a rut.

So what if he’s forty, single, and still running his family’s Inn? So what if he’s still grieving his father’s death and mourning the spectacular failure of his writing career? His life is perfectly fine, thank you very much. He’s not looking for love or a relationship, no matter what his nosy family thinks. Especially not with a writer from out of town.

Which is fine, because bestselling author Hazel Woodward isn’t looking for love either. She’s just looking for an escape, which is how she winds up in Gossamer Falls, a town where magic feels more than just make believe.

With her deadline looming, Hazel has only a few weeks to submit the first hundred pages of her manuscript or forfeit her hefty advance—which might be a problem, because she’s been living off of it for the past two years. While getting divorced, losing her best friend to a heartbreaking betrayal, and dealing with the worst case of writers block ever known to man. Now, in the picturesque town of Gossamer Falls, while staying at the Shephard Inn, she's hoping she can put the past behind her and focus on her career.

There’s a reason Adam doesn’t get involved with his guests, even ones with the most amazing brown eyes he’s ever seen. Even ones as gorgeous, smart, and talented as Hazel. Because in the end, they all leave.

But there’s magic in the air, and he can’t watch Hazel struggle. Especially when he just might have the solution to her writer’s block.

Too bad it might cost him his heart.

Feels Like Home

Tara-Wyatt-Gossamer-Falls-Bk-01-Just-Like-Magic-CS

All. Of. The. Stars! That's right, I said this gets all of the stars.

Hazel Rebecca Woodward and Adam Patrick Shephard share such a cozy romance. It's seriously sweet with the beautiful spiciness that I've come to expect from Tara Wyatt. I cannot gush enough about how wonderful this entire book is. And the dirty talking is *muah!* 💙🔥💥

He knew what he’d said, how he’d acted with Hazel last night. It was as though being with her had slashed all of his brake lines. He’d been so absorbed in her that he’d forgotten about reality.
-- Adam Shephard

I love how they both throw so many of their rules out the window to pursue something that feels true and right. Not only is their chemistry sparkling and perfection, they each cheer the other on in their pursuits, sometimes silently, other times loud and proud. They are so stinking cute!

I also love the closeness that the Shephard family shares. Not only are they close, but they have fun good heartedly teasing each other and they're very supportive, even during the hard and emotional times.

I could go on and on about this, but instead I'm just going to say that you need to read this and see for yourself. 💚💙💜💚💙💜

First time to read this author, but not my last. I felt the cozy magic of the falls wrap around my brain as I immersed myself in the story. Such a sweet couple, Hazel and Adam are simply perfect for one another.

When Tara Wyatt says she is coming out with a new book, and one written with the MMC and FMC being my age (39), of course I HAD to read it. Tara was very awesome to gift me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Let tell you, this book was refreshing. A nice touch of rom com without being over the top, a MMC that is stunningly hot with a filthy mouth, a FMC that isn't obnoxious, and a hint of magic. There was no drama part way through the book, just a nice romance that ends in a HEA. The spice was top notch.
Of course I love a small town romance. And I fell in love Gossamer Falls and cannot wait to revisit the town in the next book.

Just Like Magic represents a new direction for author Tara Wyatt. This is her first cozy romance, and it does not disappoint. JLM has small town vibes with magical undertones; a broken but healing FMC; a swoony MMC; and great supporting characters in the form of close-knit family members (who I hope get their own books in the series).

I loved the legend of Gossamer Falls, the magical and mystical elements, that there was no third act break-up, and that the main characters were older (39/40). If this sounds like your kind of vibe, I highly recommend you check out this new series!

This was a lovely read with lots of romantic points, just enough spice and a super satisfying ending.
Hazel is a disillusioned writer being controlled in her career by her ex husband/editor. She follows a whimsical ad and decides to get away from the city to the town of Gossamer Falls with the hope of reigniting her muse. She fulfils the town legend, standing at the falls at midnight under a full moon with the hope of finally finding a love worthy of her and being able to move forward with her life. Enter Adam. A man still hurting from loves lost and his father’s recent passing. They are a perfect match and the muse strikes them both with the idea of writing a novel together. They get closer and fall in love. The book gets written and the exhusband loses his job when it’s discovered that he had been lying to her all along. Adam proposes at the waterfall and they live happily ever after.
It was a satisfying read with a touch of magic throughout, visits to the magic shop for tarot card readings and magic spells were a nice touch to differentiate from the standard romance story leaving you to wonder if magic is real or just providing a push to move the characters into the right mind set for success. The characters all seem to accept it as part of their natural world, with the exception of Adam, though he sees the light by the end. Tara Wyatt is a great writer, opening a new magical starting point for a series of magic infused stories. The town of Gossamer Falls was well fleshed out and the locations of the inn, Adam’s cabin, the Shepherd’s house all charmingly described in a way that takes you there. The train ride in the beginning is the perfect opener at once describing the beautiful fall environmental setting and the approach to the magical world of Gossamer Falls.
I can’t wait for the next one!

The perfect small town romance, with a sprinkle of magic ✨ who wouldn’t want to live in Gossamer Falls after reading this.
Adam is the handsome Cinnamon roll man with a filthy mouth ❤️‍🔥 and Hazel is the lucky lady who steals his heart after having hers broken.
There are 5 Shepard brothers & a sister so Gossamer Falls is a series that will keep me engaged & waiting for the next one. I love Tara’s writing style & I’m excited to start One Enchanted Evening & Jack’s story.

What a great book to start a new series. Very different book from what this author usually writes (usually darker and angsty) but I really loved the story. Hazel and Adam are lovely and I love the way they met. Can't wait to read the rest of the series and get to know Adam's siblings better.

Just like magic is a very nice, well written book. Light hearted and fun to read. I received this book as an Arc and I was addicted to reading it right after the first chapter. It’s one of those feel good cosy books. For me it felt like Gilmore girls meet the good witch series mixed in one with good spice. Defiantly recommend this book. I enjoyed how Adam’s character grew from the nonbeliever to what you will see in the book. The characters are very relatable you can feel like it could be very much a real life events plus some magic of fate and destiny. It has family bonds, friendship and love. I loved Hazel’s and Adam chemistry from the day they met .. the best kind of love story with great satisfying ending. By the end of the book I just felt happy and had a smile on my face ❤️

I adored this cozy, small-town romance! It had little hints of a magical element that really enhanced the story. It started off super sweet and a little cheesy, and then i was pleasantly surprised by the steamy scenes and filthy mouth on our MMC, Adam! There are a lot of fun moments that fellow readers will relate to, and the love between Adam and Hazel will make you swoon!

Adam and Hazel were the perfect start to Tara Wyatt’s new Gossamer Falls series. A charming small town, a cozy inn, and the promise of a little magic from the town’s waterfall? Sign me up! Adam, the oldest of the Shephard siblings, loves his job running his family’s inn and has no plans to leave his small town where he grew up. When Hazel Woodward checks into the inn for her two-week stay away from her life in New York City, she effectively turns his life upside down (in the best way possible). As they spend more time together and share more about their lives, they can’t deny the attraction they feel towards each other. But what will happen when Hazel’s stay in Gossamer Falls is up and she heads back to the city?

This story is fall in a book. I wish Gossamer Falls was a real place because I would absolutely go and visit! The instant chemistry between Adam and Hazel immediately drew me in, and I just loved how their relationship blossomed from acquaintances to friends to something more. (Shout out to Adam’s little sister, Autumn, for pushing these two in the right direction!) In true Tara Wyatt style, their story has a lot of heart, a big focus on family, and the steam levels are through the roof. As an author, Hazel finds what she’s been missing with her writing, and Adam finds a piece of himself that he thought was long gone. All they needed was a little magic.

A huge thank you to the author for an early copy of JUST LIKE MAGIC to read and review. It’s out now and available on Kindle Unlimited. I can’t wait to see what the other Shephard siblings are up to in the rest of the series!

4.25 stars--JUST LIKE MAGIC is the first instalment in Tara Wyatt’s contemporary, adult GOSSAMER FALLS erotic, romance series. This is thirty-nine year old divorcee and author Hazel Woodward, and forty year old inn manager Adam Shephard’s story line.

Told from omniscient dual third person perspectives (Hazel and Adam) JUST LIKE MAGIC follows author Hazel Woodward as she struggles to write her latest book. Having discovered her husband (and editor) was having an affair; the betrayal of her best friend, and writer’s block as her new companion, Hazel Woodward heads to Gossamer Falls, a place she is hoping to rediscover her muse, and her desire to write. Enter Adam Shephard, the man with whom Hazel will fall in love. Adam is /was a struggling writer whose writing, although critically acclaimed, resulted in little enthusiasm from the public. Meeting Hazel Woodward, and quickly falling in love with the New York writer, Adam finds himself both intrigued and determined to start writing again but the past refuses to let go of our story line heroine, controlling the future between our story line couple. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Hazel and Adam, and the potential fall-out as Hazel’s time in Gossamer Falls comes to a close

The world building introduces the people and secrets of Gossamer Falls. There is a ‘magical’ history to the town, and Shephard’s Inn, and with it, comes the idealistic caution of finding one’s happily ever after.

The relationship between Hazel and Adam is one of immediate attraction but Adam finds himself struggling with a direction in life, at the same time, Hazel battles between head and heart, focusing on her inability to write her next successful release. As Hazel and Adam begin the dance of seduction, our couple will discover their connection is the perfect start to their mutual careers. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including Adam’s extended family of enterprising siblings.

JUST LIKE MAGIC is a story about betrayal and karma, hopes and dreams, family, friendships, relationships and love. The premise is inviting and delightful; the characters are animated and sassy; the romance is spicy and seductive.

When Tara Wyatt started talking about this story on Facebook, I was so excited. I loved the idea of a town that's just a little bit magic. I loved the idea of learning more about the people who live there. I went into the story looking forward to romance and magic and I can say I got that. The romance in the story is perfect. Because of the magic the romance happens quickly and that helps the story not feel rushed. I have to say I'd love even more magic within the story and hope maybe there will be in the next book. Happily, there is going to be a next book. All through this one I kept thinking, "who's next?"

Right away you love Hazel. You won't be able to not feel for her and all she's gone through. Her ex is a real jerk that I want nothing but bad things to happen to him. Hazel deserves the town of Gossamer Falls. She deserves a bit of magic in her life and to have people around her that truly enjoy her and not think of her as a way to get ahead.

Adam, Adam, Adam, he is so sweet and hot. He totally falls hard for Hazel. You see it in every action he does. Just the simple move of bringing her coffee when she's working makes the heart melt. It's sad that death and disappointment has caused him to give up something that he loves.

I liked these two worked to build each other up. As I mentioned the romance happens quickly but doesn't feel rushed. You will fell invested in how they feel about each other and want good things for them.

I have so many questions about the other characters in the family and town and hope that we get to know them better. Heck, I want to learn about more people who live in the town. I felt that we met some but not all of who we could have. It leaves us with something to look forward to. We get the next book in winter of 2024 so I'm happy to know that.

I absolutely adored Adam and Hazel. There was a definite, immediate, connection between them and it was evident that these two were meant to be together. They lit up the pages when they were together and were the best part of the story.

Of course we can’t all love every character in a story. Autumn, Adam’s sister, not a huge fan. I thought she was pushy and meddling. And her friendship with Hazel seemed forced. I felt the same about Laurel and Sienna, Autumn’s friends. The interactions between the three of these women and Hazel just seemed stilted and lacked a spark. I didn’t enjoy those parts of the book as much and found myself hoping those scenes would be over quickly and we could get back to Adam and Hazel, which is unfortunate because I feel like we may have been given a set up for not only a book with a second chance romance but also a book with a workplace romance in this series, and I want to like these characters if those books do happen.

As for the “magic”, I’m not sure the story really needed it. Hazel says she was having coffee one day and reading a magazine and the wind just blew it open to the page with an advertisement for Gossamer Falls and she felt that she just had to visit. Is that magic or is it the story of a girl who has had her heart trampled on and needs a change of scenery? Then she gets to her destination and the inn she is staying in is supposedly haunted by the grandmother of the family. She helps Hazel find a few books she needs. And that’s about it. We don’t really hear about the grandmother again. And then Hazel goes to the falls and gets “kissed by the mists” so she can find her true love, who just happens to be the owner of the inn where she’s staying so she probably would have met him at some point anyway. I think her visit to the falls was symbolic of washing away her past and beginning anew, but not necessarily magic. The magic of Gossamer Falls is really just a story of two people who are falling in love.

I did love that there was no third act breakup. Not every couple goes through a breakup and has to realize they made a mistake before they get their happily ever after. I think this part was perfect.

I also loved how both Hazel and Adam gained confidence in themselves during the story. Adam with his writing and Hazel with her self worth. And the part of the story where Adam comes to terms with his grief over his father’s passing, was powerful and emotional. These two couldn’t have grown without the love and support they gave each other and I feel like that was the true magic of the story.

"Just Like Magic"
Gossamer Falls book 1

Pages: 268
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
🌶🌶🌶🌶 4.5/5

🌟 Tropes 🌟
1. Cinnamon Roll MMC
2. Magical Realism
3. Small Town Romance
4. Fated Mates
5. Cozy Feel

Hazel has gone through a divorce and was treated horribly by her ex, who just happens to be her editor. She is a successful author and she has had writers block but her next book installment is majorly overdue. A page magically opens to an ad for Gossamer Falls and she can't help but feel she needs to be there.

Adam runs the inn that she is staying at. She hears his voice and it's deep timber with honey undertones sucks her in before she even sees him. Adam has been going through the motions of life since his father passed unexpectedly and his books he wrote were not a success. He is running the inn and convinces himself he is happy enough with the way his life is.

Gossamer Falls is said to have magic if you let the mist of the falls touch your face under a full moon. Guess where Hazel ended up? The mist of the falls is said to bring you true love by the following full moon. Adam comes from a huge family and his sister Autumn knew Hazel was meant for Adam the moment she laid eyes on her. Autumn believed in the magic of the town and the ghosts that "help" around their inn.

Over the next couple weeks Hazel and Adam can't seem to fight the attraction that has blossomed between them. It's said to be a palpable electricity between the two and neither can deny the magical pull they feel towards one another. Were the falls really responsible for the magic?

I don't want to give you any spoilers because the book unfolding is a magic in itself. Let's just say Hazel finds her voice and Adam finds the courage to begin healing. And how can I forget the spice?!? Some of those scenes had me blushing!

If you enjoy magical realism, a phenomenal love story, and enjoy great writing, Just Like Magic is made for you. Run and grab your copy today!

This is book one in The Gossamer Falls series and it is Adam and Hazel’s story and what a fantastic start to a new series by one of my favourite authors. Hazel is a author and had a serious case of writers block so she decides to go to Gossamer Falls to see if it will not only get her out of her funk but to see if it will give her inspiration as she has a deadline approaching and can’t afford to miss it and at the moment she hasn’t written a word and this happened after her divorce and her best friends betrayal so she is hoping that this trip will help her not only with her writing but also allow her to move forward with her life. Adam is running the family inn after the death of his father who he is still mourning and struggling so he keeps himself busy especially after the failure of his writing career so now he just moves forward day by day. Gossamer Falls has a legend that standing under the falls at midnight and making a wish is supposed to find you your one true love so Hazel made her wish even though having another relationship was the further thing from her mind after everything that she had been through. Adam didn’t believe in the legends and as for a relationship well that was not going to happen because people don’t stay in his town and he wouldn’t move anywhere else so that leaves him alone which is fine. The attraction, chemistry and connection between Adam and Hazel is so strong that you can feel it coming of the pages and the description of the town and it’s unique shops make you feel like you are there and imagining yourself living in Gossamer Falls with all it’s history and magic. Wow I absolutely loved this book and I couldn’t put it down and had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next as the storyline pulled you in and kept your attention throughout the whole book and it was so addictive and enjoyable read. Even though I loved Adam and Hazel and there love story so much for me Autumn certainly stole part of the show in this book. Tara Wyatt is an amazing author and writer and I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing series.

Hazel Woodward’s entire life is imploding - her marriage, her friendship, and her writing - so she decides to leave Manhattan for Gossamer Falls in the Hudson Highlands. She is booked into The Shephard Inn, home of two benevolent spirits who will hopefully, be an inspiration for her next series of books. There she meets Adam Shephard, the manager, and his sister Autumn who also works there.

The Shephard family consists of five brothers and one sister, and, with the exception of Finn, who left when their father died, they are all very close and have Sunday dinner every week with their mother. Tonight Autumn is giving hotel guests a moonlight tour of Gossamer Falls, and Hazel is coming. Legend has it that if you get “kissed by the mist,” your true love will be revealed before the next full moon, and lo and behold, when Hazel stands next to the falls, she feels the mist and hears a voice telling her to make a wish to find her true love.

And, wouldn’t you know it, the next morning Hazel’s shower is not working, so she calls the front desk, Adam appears to fix it, and both of them are gobsmacked by the magical chemistry between them. Or, could it be that the spirits may be nudging them together? In any case, at the end of their first date they experience a life-altering kiss.

Oh, my stars, what an absolutely delicious first book in the Gossamer Falls series! Tara Wyatt yet again with this incredibly creative plot line and impeccable writing style. The detailed descriptions of the town, its inhabitants, the shops, the food, and the surrounding area, including the waterfall, are so vivid that I feel like a shadow character in the story. And the romance? It’s smokin’ hot off the charts, especially when Adam and Hazel role play the sex scenes for the book they are co-writing, which, to me, is one of the highlights of the entire book. If you are a fan of magical romance, you MUST read this one!

I received this book as an ARC reviewer and voluntarily leave my honest opinion.

“And then, she heard it. The faintest whisper, right in her ear.
Make your wish
Find your love”

I just knew I was going to love this book after the first few paragraphs. Whenever there is an ex-husband, a supposedly best friend and hints of betrayal, the emotions begin to swirl and opinions form. It’s no wonder Hazel’s creativity was suffering and she had writer’s block. That cheating ex-husband was her boss.

As I kept turning the pages, it was not what I originally thought. I kept thinking there were three or four different plots competing with each other. There was the plot of overly steamy erotica, there was witchcraft with spells, potions and tarot cards, there was new love…true love, and there was the sabotaging ex-husband. Also, ghosts make their presence known.

When I read the description about Adam’s aloofness and Hazel’s despondency I was eager to read a touching love story about two hurting people finding themselves again, and that they did. However, I wasn’t prepared for the overly steamy, erotica talk and detailed intimacy.

🤔 LIKES and DISLIKES

✒︎ I’ve read this author’s works before and usually like them. Her writing skills are strong and fluid. And she doesn’t use cliffhangers.

✒︎ I’m sure many will enjoy this book. I just had issues with certain areas. I’m not one that likes erotica and this book was more than steamy, not only the detailed bedroom scenes but also in casual conversation.

✒︎ I understand using the ‘F’ word and other ‘slang’, that’s normal anymore, but I dislike profanity as part of everyday talk.

✒︎ I wanted more development into the controlling ex-husband, Seth, and the ex best friend, Leah. I only got to ‘hear’ about them, not ‘see’ or ‘feel’ what happened. .. and I soooo wanted to 'see' his comeuppance and his reaction. Less detail and talk with the overt steam would give space for more development in these characters/scenes. We know nothing about Leah. Is she still working with Seth? Where is Leah now?

I was given a copy of this book and freely leave my review.

2.5 stars, and don't yell at me for being the outlier!

Let me start by saying that Tara Wyatt is an author I genuinely like. Stupid Love is one of my top two friends-to-lovers romance novels, and that's one of my most favorite tropes. It was the first Wyatt novel I read, and it made me a fan for life.

Here, though, I just couldn't appreciate the story, even if it reads snappily and is well written. It could be that the main tropes aren't my jam (think Hallmark, only both main characters are sunshine, with fairy grandmother sprinkled in). Or maybe it's the discordant feeling I got every time we jumped from cinnamon and hot cocoa into Wyatt's signature smuttiness. Given how reserved both Hazel and Adam are, their sexy time is exceedingly graphic and, at times, lacks the tenderness that their clothed personas share.

I was also disappointed by the supernatural/magical slant to the story. I don't really think it was necessary, and, in fact, it seemed more like a plot device used to explain how they fell for each other so fast. There's virtually no conflict between the two of them, and even Adam's tendency to disbelieve in magic is quickly overturned. The only tension in the novel comes from Hazel's ex, and more because he controls her next publication than anything else. Yes, Hazel worries about her writer's block, but it never really feels like it's a true threat. One does wonder why she never spoke with anyone else at the publishing company apart from her ex.

Honestly, I kind of wanted to rate this story lower, perhaps 2 stars, but I still have faith in this author. I don't know if I'd bother to read anything else in this new series though.

I gratefully received a copy of this book from the author. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!

Oh, this was lovely!

Tara Wyatt kicks off a new series (Gossamer Falls) with her latest, Just Like Magic. Adam and Hazel's story is a bit of a new direction for Ms Waytt--it's a contemporary romance with strong friendship and family ties and set in a small town, which are all familiar territory for the author, but with the addition of a dash of mysticism, maybe some magic, and probably (definitely?) a small handful of friendly spirits. It's sweet and sexy and makes me think about taking a quick road trip to the Hudson River valley to look for innkeepers who could double as Henry Cavill lookalikes.

Or maybe I could just break out my tarot cards again. I'll for sure do at least one of those two things soon. ;)

Adam and Hazel's story is relatively angst-free--most of the tension comes from outside sources (except for Adam's insistence in the beginning that legends, ghosts, and magic are silly fiction) and gets resolved in an angst-free and realistic way. Both MCs are a bit older, which I really liked as well, and I loved that they didn't shy away from actual communication (the fact that they're both authors probably didn't hurt here) and making decisions together like adults.

Angst-free but swoon-worthy. I can definitely get behind that combination!

Adam is the oldest of six, and Ms Wyatt gave us some definite clues as to where future books might go--I'm pretty sure I spotted 2, if not 3 future book pairings as I read, and I'm not going to be upset about any of them. I'm already counting the days until my next visit to Gossamer Falls!

✨ Just Like Magic by Tara Wyatt ✨

Key Tropes:
💕 Small Town Romance
✨ Love After Divorce & Loss
💕 Soul Mates
✨ HEA + No Third Act Breakup
💕 Magic-ish

Characterization: I love how Hazel and Adam are a bit older than usual rom/romcoms in that they are nearly 40, not still in their 20s. By 40, you have a better idea of what you do and don’t want out of life and aren’t afraid to act on them, to some extent, and that’s indicative of both Hazel and Adam. I love that Hazel is finding her voice and sense of self after divorce and that Adam is finding his passion after loss. The book deals with some serious life topics, but gosh about showing how the characters both reasonably could and do respond in those harder moments.

Plot/Storyline: Ok, this book under most circumstances would be an outlier for me. I like tension, angst, and when things go wrong. This is not that type of story. I love Grams and her assistance; I love the tarot reading scene; I love the mist kissing the faces of those at the falls. This is a storyline where anything that can go right, will, and I ate up every second of it. It’s a perfect feel good book to read after an intense cliffhanger book or book causing a serious book hangover.

Writing Style: If you took the aesthetic and town feel of Gilmore Girls, added in some steamy scenes, coupled with a romcom movies along the lines of Legally Blonde (finding voice and place) and Sixteen Candles (magic!), that would describe this book to a T. May everyone find their inner Hazel and accomplish what she does by the close of the book.

I love all kinds of magic and love is a special brand of magic altogether! I so adored this book about Gossamer Falls, I want to go there now too. Needless to say I loved this first book in the series of Gossamer Falls and the family of Shephards.

4.5 stars: Dirty-talking possessive manly man, generous lover

POV: dual
HUMOR: yes
F BOMBS: yes
CLIFFHANGER: no
NEW AUTHOR FOR ME: no

POSSIBLE TRIGGERS: graphic sexy times and language, Inn possibly haunted by 2 benevolent ghosts, hearing voices, smelling scents belonging to passed away loved ones, palm and tarot card reading, "magic, and witchcraft and new agey stuff."

CHARACTERS: Hazel Woodward (39, fantasy novel writer, divorced from ex-husband/current editor Seth, who cheated on her) and Adam Shephard (40, manages the family inn, single)

OVERALL: Well-written, low angst, HEA, sweet, and sexy.

SUMMARY QUOTE: "Then again, not everything in life made sense. Some things were better explained by magic than logic."

PROS:
1. Great world-building and descriptions. Felt like I was right there in the town tempted to go into "Pour Decisions" pub, "Play Oolong" tea shop, and "You Little Tart" bakery - Best names ever!
2. Great characters. Especially Adam: Dirty-talking manly man, possessive gentleman who can cook, and generous lover.
3. Epilogue from Adam's POV

CONS:
1. Really enjoyed this story; would've preferred less on paranormal/fantasy magic bringing them together and more on their relationship-building magic that comes from natural, magnetic chemistry. Regardless, it's still wonderful story - thank you!

NOTEWORTHY:
1. Bonus sexy scene with newsletter sign up.
2. Favorite quote: "Funny how she'd had come to a new place to start finding her old self again."
3. This is Gossamer Falls Book 1. Next one will focus on single-father Jack, Adam's younger brother.

I received a free copy of this book and, as always, am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Sweet and spicy small-town romance where there’s a little magic around every corner. Just Like Magic is written with an easy, enchanting, charm, and Hazel and Adam are an adorably perfect soulmate kinda couple.
Hazel has a deadline looming and no book and her divorce is still torturously fresh in her mind, so a change of scenery is in order. A train ride down to Gossamer Falls and a few weeks away will hopefully give her inspiration and a new perspective. What she doesn’t expect is a charming and possibly haunted inn, a legend about love, and a man who makes her weak in the knees the second she sees him. She doesn’t believe in magic but there is definitely something in Gossamer Falls. Adam has been in Gossamer Falls his entire life running the family inn. He knows the talk, the inn is haunted, there’s magic at the falls, but he’s never witnessed it. Still though, when Hazel arrives in town and at his inn, there’s no denying there’s a change in him and an absolutely electric charge between them.
Just Like Magic is a fantastic read! The small-town is so cute, filled with such genuine people, and you can definitely feel the magic the whole town seems to believe in. Loved Hazel and Adam’s instant connection and they really do seem perfect for each other. I love when the broody, grumpy, doesn’t believe in love guy, gets blindsided by it and that is for sure the case for Adam. And I really liked when Hazel realized that what she really needed was to get her power back, to stop letting everyone else dictate her choices, I think that’s just so relatable and always such a great reminder to be true to you. Great book from Tara!

This is such a warm, delightful story with no angst. It's like being wrapped in a warm blanket. Two lost and injured souls accidentally find each other and are instantly attracted to each other. It's a small town romance full of likeable characters and I'm eager to read the rest of their stories. It's a warm fuzzy romance I highly recommend!

Hazel Woodward is an author who gained national attention with the first fantasy trilogy she wrote that became a mini-series. Now she's tasked with writing a new book and she has severe writer's block. Her editor is her now ex-husband who refuses to pass her on to another editor. She's faced with his infidelity's as his now fiancé is another younger author he edits. Her best friend knew of his affair and didn't think it was important to tell her which ended that friendship quickly. Now Hazel is alone with an estranged family and a book that's over due and has lived on the advance from her publisher for this new, non-existent series. She sees an advertisement for Gossamer Falls and books two weeks to get away hoping the change of scenery gives her inspiration.

Adam Shephard runs the Shepherd Inn now that his dad passed away suddenly two years ago. He's never really faced grieving for him whom he was really close to. His dad was his mentor. He was an unsuccessful author of a murder mystery trilogy that was highly touted by not supported by his publisher. He hasn't written since. The inn is haunted by benevolent spirits: the original owner of the Inn who fixes things, and his grandmother Mary who provides what people need and help. Gossamer Falls has a legend that whoever is kissed by the mist of the falls and who has an open heart will find their true love. He doesn't believe in ghosts or magic though his younger sister Autumn does. She's the Customer Relations agent and greets guests. Hazel is instantly drawn to Autumn and feels peace being at Gossamer Falls. She goes to the falls that evening and things start happening the next morning. The magic starts to work on both Hazel and Adam.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. I also own a copy of this book as well. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Just Like Magic is an enchanted read full of magic and small town energy that put me under its spell and I couldn't put it down. That's the perfect story to start a new series. I loved the story line and Tara Wyatt's writing style did it justice. She created a perfect small town , people with unique characters that bring out the charm of the place, businesses with perfect meaningful names and don't forget the fall . You can bet that I looked it up in internet . Even if it's totally fictional I want to move there. And I want friends like Autumn and her girl pose. Adam and Hazel have an instant attraction between them and not only that. They share a lot in common based on their work and interests. But that smoking hot chemistry was of the charts . Hint- hint : the part where they role played a certain chapter they have to write . From the start of her stay at The Shephard Inn , Hazel feels the magical touch of the place. Soon things begin to happen and with the help of some new friends Hazel finds her way back to herself and gets her power back . She finally parts with a painful part of her past and takes control over her life and career . And Adam is by her side every step of the way. They are so good together and to each other and what they have is a true couple goals. This series promises to be soo goood and I can't wait to see what happens next. Because there is five more Shephard siblings.

I was fortunate to receive an ARC copy of this book by the author and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Hazel Woodward has hit a wall and can't seem to get over it. Her career is in jeopardy and she needs to get out of Manhattan away from all her problems to find a solution. Her previous books were best sellers and she is getting pressure from her agent about being way past her deadline. Her agent... her ex-husband. Which is part of her anxiety.

She is sitting in a coffee shop and a breeze out of nowhere flips the pages of her magazine. She looks down and the image of the small town of Gossamer Falls opens before her - 'Where Magic Happens' - just what she needs a bit of magic in her life.

When she steps off the train she immediately feels at home and surrounded by immediate peace and when she comes across a book written in 1890 titled The Legend of Gossamer Falls she knows what she has to do to take back control of her life.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. You are immediately embraced by this small town and it's characters and magical lore surrounding the town.

Hazel is an author fighting to get over writer's block and falls in love with a small town and falls in love with the 200-year-old story. Adam is the owner of the local hotel and has avoided relationships because no one wants to stay in this small town and he refuses to leave his home.

This book is action-packed and will keep you turning the pages as unexpected ghostly happenings push these two together. Despite Adam negating his family's claims that their grandmother haunts the hotel, even he can't deny the unusual happenings. Highly recommend.

5 Stars for this cute romance

Last year Hazel got divorced, but she's still tangled up with her ex, as she's an author and he's her editor. She has three weeks to forward 100 pages of her new novel or she will have to pay back the sizeable advance she received. She hasn't written anything since the divorce and she's spent the money. When she sees an ad for Shepard's Inn is Gossamer Falls, it all looks so magical. She books two weeks at the Inn and hopefully she'll get some inspiration. Adam has been running the Inn since his father passed two years ago. When a new guest has trouble with the shower, he goes to fix it and the minute Hazel opens the door, Adam is taken with her. He has a strict no dating the guests policy because they always leave and he doesn't do flings. But when the legend of Gossamer Falls Mist comes into play ... no one has a choice.

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the Gossamer Falls series. The story flows so good and the banter is very realistic ... especially between the siblings. I loved the magic element to the story, as we all need a little magic in our lives. This book had me laughing out loud one minute and swooning like crazy the next. The chemistry between Adam and Hazel almost lit my Kindle on fire! I loved how the author introduced all the siblings with a little background on each of them ... I can't wait for their stories!

I received an early copy courtesy of the author.

ARC Review!

The title says it all and this book really is 'Just Like Magic.'

Hazel is a writer from New York City who is looking for a change in scenery to help get her writing mojo back after some major life setbacks. She settles on the small town of Gossamer Falls and is immediately captivated by everything the magical town has to offer, including the owner of the inn she is staying at.
Adam is a failed writer and the owner of the inn at Gossamer Falls and he has a 'no fooling around with guests' rule. That is until Hazel comes around and tests that rule. He cannot help his interest in Hazel and he can't ignore the fact that their connection is in fact, just like magic.

This book was so fun to read, I really enjoyed it! The story was captivating and just felt really 'homey,' like the whole thing was a warm hug. The character and world building of Gossamer Falls was so intriguing. All the characters had a meaningful role in the story and it was so great seeing the connection between everyone. You just want to be a part of that wholesome friend and family group and it makes you want to try your hand at writing your own book. Truly captivated from the very beginning. I even knew I would love this book the moment Tara Wyatt mentioned my all-time favorite movie in it! ;) Those who like small town romances with a little bit of small town magic, and likes when he calls her 'sweetheart' will definitely enjoy this book.

Small town with little bit of magic.
This was really cute story of two people who didn't know they needed little magic.
Hazel Woodward, a romance writer was in a funk after blockbuster series. She was in a funk after divorce and needed a break from normal routine. So she is headed to Gossamer Falls to relax and get her writing spark back. Gossamer Fall is a small town with lots of charm and splash of magic. She wasn't a believer of magic until she experienced little dash of magic herself.
Adam Shephard was living without happiness in his life ever since his father's death. He is running his family's Inn and that was all he did. He didn't believe in any magic like his sister Autumn. When Hazel checked in to his hotel, he couldn't take his eyes off. However, he had one rule that he won't date guest. It will all change after Hazel visits the fall.
I thought book will be heavy with magic and potions but this was really delightful story with dash of magic. I really enjoyed reading it. I love the fact Adam and Hazel were in their late 30s and early 40's and once they were falling for each other, they were all in. It was slow burn at first but once they got together, it was hot. I love Adam's siblings and can't wait to dive into next book. This book makes you want to visit the fall and feel the mist.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review of the book
