Charlie LOVES monsters. And he adores doughnuts. Which is why he has a BIG problem when his mother makes him a whole sugary panful. Mr. Beast, Charlie’s favorite monster, wants them, too!
This wonderful not-so-spooky story celebrates the special closeness between fathers and sons.
This book was a lot of fun to read. It has become a favorite, at least till we have to return it to the library. My daughter caught on quite quickly to who the monster was so she makes one of her toys has to pretend to be scared instead!
My 4 year old grandson is really into monsters right now. He thoroughly enjoyed this book because Charlie, the little boy in the story, keeps finding the same monster everywhere he goes in his house. In the end, the monster turns out to be his daddy dressed in a costume.
Charlie eats all of the donuts his mom made for Mr. Beast, so Mr. Beast decides to eat Charlie instead.
Charlie is like a typical child in the fact that he has a sweet tooth and loves donuts, not to mention his love for monsters. Throughout the book, Charlie is waiting for Mr. Beast to come, but continues to have a smile on his face, which even made me suspicious. Kids could be asked why they thought Charlie was smiling to get them predicting what was going to happen. This book could help students with the reading process with those types of questions.
Charlie borrows Mr. Beast's pot for the fee of: donuts. When he doesn't deliver (because he cannot resist eating them all up!), Mr. Beast comes to "eat HIM up". Because Charlie has a smile on his face during the scary scenes the seriousness of the stalking is lessened. Still, weak of heart may find the shadows on the wall and creepy noises scary!
Charlie eats all of Mr. Beast's donuts (made by Charlie's mom). So Mr. Beast is going to eat him. Charlie is scared and cannot sleep...he hears Mr. Beast climbing up the vines and stomping on the roof and climbing down the chimney, coming to eat Charlie up. But don't worry... Charlie will be okay. Fun, spooky illustrations. Suspense, but not too scary.
A little boy borrows a pan from a beast so his mom can make him donuts. The beast loans it to him but he has to bring back donuts for him also. The boy eats all the donuts and now the beast said he would get him. In the end it was just a playful game and the beast was the dad.
Great October book to read In the fall! I was honestly a bit confused at the end of the book so I had to read the beginning again to understand. Other than that I enjoyed it!
