A simple yet beautifully written story with an unconventional ending one would not expect from a story of this genre, මැයි මාර ප්රසංගය was a fascinating read, though a deviation from the previous works of the author. The metaphors, imagery, and the use of language in general were the most striking factors for me, which were done elegantly throughout. Though it is a heart-rending tale of unrequited love, certain key scenes in the story may very well be attributed to borderline hyperbole, even if the characters and the story itself are based on actual events from the author's past. Considering the audience as a product of current times, with certain social norms being significantly altered since the era the story is from, certain acts of romance from the second character could be interpreted as creepy or problematic, but that would ultimately be a personal point of view of each reader. Overall, an intriguing creation that makes the reader a witness to a tale that would otherwise have been lost in time, but now lives on in the memory of thousands, though it may never reach the one it was intended for.
Beautifully written but honestly i felt the second character was a stalker. Little creepy too. However, the writing is really beautiful. The description of the nature is well written.
This book gives me mixed feelings. Sometimes I totally agree with the author and sometimes I think what nonsense this is. I felt the author overused the repetition of certain words (i.e. the set of spices). Overall, beautifully written. I love the message at the end.
Masimbula is such an emotionally persuasive writer. If someone else had told this story in a different light, I might have found Samidha a bit of a stalker, even a creep, and naive in some ways. But the way Masimbula tells the story made me fall in love with the protagonist.
It’s a beautifully written, short story about true love. The story is based on a past experience of the author and about a friend that he met.
This story is about love but also about making the one you love happy even they don’t know that you exist. The story gave me mixed feelings to be honest and felt unreal or unauthentic. And felt it’s bit too much repetitive in the first half.
But the language and writing was really simple and beautiful. I guess I had high hopes and my review is biased. But I love author’s writing style.
It's always too hard to pen down the largeness and complexity of how humans feel and to ensure that readers grasp how they felt through words. In other words, trying to convert human emotions into words is always a complex journey. Writers sometimes need to create new words altogether or find and combine words like never before to explicitly portray how humans feel, making sure the reader takes the same journey that the writer intended. The popularity of the Physical "Mayi mara gaha" demonstrates how Masimbula successfully took readers along on his journey, yet allowed them to make it their own. I absolutely loved this simple yet complex masterpiece!
May Mara Prasangaya is a heart-touching, emotional story based on true events, capturing the quiet pain of one-sided love—the kind of love that stays even when it has no place to go. The story follows a character who falls deeply for someone they can never truly have. It’s not dramatic or loud; it’s the soft kind of suffering that lives inside the heart. Every chapter slowly reveals how love can be both beautiful and cruel at the same time.

I have loved everything Masimbula has written, and I don't mean it lightly. Senkottan changed my worldview. This was good, but not nearly as good as his other works. I think the story was too short to evoke a strong emotion in the reader. It is a beautiful turn of events, but I feel like the writing was too flowery at times.
Somehow, in the end, it is a refreshing reminder that love exists - in forms as pure as the Mayflowers blooming in spring.
The use of language is excellent. The writer is very skillful at creating visual images. The story is based a little on hyper realism. Maybe the writer wanted to emphasize the concept of a fantasy based love story.
There are some events which seem like unrealistic and far fetched. But the story is well written and it leaves a void in readers mind. An unfulfilling void.

A very easy read, read within a few hours. The story is very sweet, though I have my own doubts about Samida. I felt like he’s a bit of an extremist. But I love the way it is written, all the flowing descriptions, and beautiful decorative words.
This book was such a short story , and yet it has soo much of depth to it…. Loved the story line , the author had written it simply yet in a way that you would re-read it over and over just because of the way it made you feel…
