Hello Heartbreaker

Rate this book
The first time I see the love of my life since he broke my heart, I’m holding a pair of hair clippers. Bad idea.

His butchered haircut wasn’t entirely my fault, but now I’m questioning my decision to move back to my small hometown.

After years of working in the city and getting nowhere, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime, a chance to buy my own salon. All I have to do is prove to the current owner that I'm committed to the salon and Cottonwood Falls. Also located in Cottonwood Falls? Rhett Griffen, the one who broke my heart beyond repair all those years ago.

Rhett is hot as sin, and he knows it. Unfortunately, so does every other female in town. And while I was reeling from our breakup and working on my career, he was having the time of his life and not spending a second thinking about me.

But it’s been over a decade since then. I won’t let the playboy who turned my heart to stone be the one who keeps my dreams from coming true.

Even if he looks better than he did all those years ago.

Even if he’s determined to make it up to me and coaches his niece’s little league team like he has a secret heart of gold.

So I'll focus on my career and stay away from my first love, because second chances are only for the people who don't remember how much it hurt the first time around.

Hello Heartbreaker is a second chance romance with a reformed player, a determined curvy heroine, and enough spice to fill the whole cabinet ;).

My favorite stories are the ones that make you laugh, cry, and feel. In all of my books, you’ll find amazing curvy women, heartwarming moments, and plenty of laughter.

I currently live in Colorado where I watch way too many rom coms, chase my three boys up the mountains (huffing and puffing), and write books for lovely readers like you.

Dnf... i was so on borad from a reel, then it went downhill in the first 10%
She didn't wanna get married or she thought she didn't she changed her mind when her bf (mmc) asked her, so he thought they were broken up.
What does he do not even an hour. he fucks someone and im so pissed yes to him it wasn't cheating. BUT DID YOU EVER SAY THE Words we are over. So to me they were still together.

And like she said what happens if they get into another fight? Would he go find another woman?!?

This is Rhett’s story; brother to Liv (Hello Doctor), Gage (Hello Billionaire) and Tyler (Confessions of the Funny Fat Friend) from previous books that you don’t need to read to follow along.

First, it must be stated because I feel like this book really brushes this off like it wasn’t a big deal; the reason Maggie was devastated at the break-up. Maggie just graduated high school (18) with plans to go to cosmetology school and Rhett, not sure what his plans were tbh, was 20 years old and proposed to Maggie with plans to follow her wherever she wanted to go for their future; Maggie decline his proposal because she was unsure it was the right thing for them to do and she needed time to think. Rhett is so distraught by Maggie’s answer he goes and fucks another girl in his house, which is where Maggie catches him when she decided to tell him that she changed her mind and wanted to marry him. So Rhett cheated on Maggie within an hour after saying he wanted to spend his life her.

So fast forward 14 years later and Maggie is back in town with her bestie, Cam, and suddenly everyone wants her to take Rhett back because he has changed. He honestly came into her salon to get a haircut on her first day with the intent of winning her back and let’s just say she wasn’t open to it.

Unfortunately, the book goes downhill right from the start and she’s already falling over herself to get to him by like chapter 5 and they are dating by chapter 8. Then there’s this whole back and forth whether she forgives/believes in Rhett for the entire book. Maggie has issues because her mother abandoned her and then there’s just so much going on including with her bestie, Cam.

Honestly, the drama and some things I considered a bit cruel felt endless, but I just couldn’t handle the repetitiveness and the fact that everyone made it seem like Rhett was the victim; don’t get me wrong I was not a fan of Maggie either, but why was she constantly apologizing when he didn’t once, he said he felt bad and had been waiting for her, but I don’t recall an actual apology.

Then the money for the salon, money for her dad’s house and the money for the land; it’s like they created a new problem every four chapters.

I understand wanting to earn something yourself, but driving yourself into the ground or losing your one true love seems kind of like big sacrifices when you can just take the gift that is ALREADY yours from your grandfather or your brother; I'm looking at you Rhett.

Maybe I'm salty from the last book that sucked that I just read but I'm 9% in and I find out that:

He previously proposed to her
She said no bc she wasn't ready yet
Then changed her mind
Came back to tell him yes
And he was already with another girl AN HOUR LATER- bc he thought they were over. 😒🙄

So naturally now he says he has changed and she gives him a second chance right away..... AT 9% IN.......

Gonna take a hard pass here. 🙅🏼‍♀️🙆‍♀️🤡

ARC Review

I personally love when an author makes you want to shake some sense into one of their characters, haha. I was very excited to read about Rhett and Maggie because Rhett has always added some extra giggles in the previous Hello books with his charm and potty mouth. I wasn't disappointed!

There are some very swoon-worthy moments and some good laughs. The heart that these books have, is just amazing. I want to live in Cottonwood Falls and go to the salon, the diner, and the rodeos. I read them so slowly just to enjoy the world.

If you read the previous books, you can definitely see the changes/growth Rhett has made over time. In this book he really puts his money where his mouth is. But it's all without losing his charm and him really showcasing his love for Maggie. I loved it!

Our girl Maggie here is lovely. But boy can she hold a grudge. I can't say how I'd be in their situation, but over time I definitely wanted to shake some sense into her. She is dedicated, hardworking, and definitely loving. It was great to watch her open up and walk a more forgiving path with Rhett.

A lot happens in this book, but it all flows pretty well. Another great read from Kelsie Hoss overall. I'm so excited to read about Knox when his book comes out next!

I rarely get frustrated with a book but Maggie had me so angry for so much of the book. A lot of her words and behavior would have been expected by someone younger. More naive. But a 30ish, independent business owner has to have more sense than this to be able to operate.

There’s a point in the book when *something else* goes wrong and I thought “DEAR GOD MAKE IT STOP”. Like, can we just stop with the obstacles? There’s no shame in ending the book at 300 pages versus 400.

Oh, and the idea that she would go to someone other than Rhett for help and he would just laugh it off was super unbelievable. I cannot come up with a scenario where I tell my partner I don’t want their help but then go to someone in their circle BEHIND THEIR BACK and then pat myself on the back for being brave enough to ask for help. And they’re totally ok with it. Just no.

I could have overlooked all of the bad and given it 2⭐️ if it weren’t for the problems with continuity. On more than one occasion, we’re given conflicting information just a paragraph or two away. Made it hard for me to read because I kept flipping back to verify what I was reading. If that kind of stuff doesn’t bother you, then you’ll eat this book up.

I also can’t help but feel from the first book it just continues to get repetitive. Like I’m just reading the same thing over and over again just with different names.

NOPE! I have several issues with this book. He proposes to her when she’s 18 and just graduated high school and she says no because she’s shocked (because she’s a child). Literally less than an hour later he’s fucking someone else and she catches him when she has a moment to process the question and was going to say yes. WOW. This is the MMC?? He’s frustrated that she doesn’t automatically want to get back together 14 years later and has a hard time trusting and forgiving him. Weird. Keep in mind that when they hang out his ex FWBs are hitting him up. He’s been a whore for 14 years and she’s supposed to believe he’s changed??

Also her mom abandoned her when she was 16 and he GOES BEHIND HER BACK to set up a meeting so she can “learn to forgive”. Not because she’s struggling with it but because he’s afraid if he messes up again (of course he fucking will) then she won’t forgive him. The audacity. Her friend also lies to her about hanging out with him for months. Red flag! The FMC is still learning how to forgive the MMC and her friend is so mean about it and basically blames the FMC. Who is on this woman’s side?

There is more but I just can’t with this book. I cringed too many times at the bull shit this poor girl had to go through and honestly she deserves better than a whore ex-BF that peaked in HS, a loser of a father, and a POS whore mom.

This story didn't work for me. I didnt care for the Mag character, I understand being hurt and anger but she took it to far. I felt Rhett deserved better. I think Cams assessment of Mag was right on point even though it was expressed in anger. This story was a little boring for me. I kept expecting something exciting to happen.

When I'm not sure whether to give the book a try after reading the summary, I look down to the comments and see if the majority of people loved it. I'll read the 5 and 4 star reviews and see if anything will intrigue me enough to read the book. This time, the first review was a one star and a spoiler warning - I gave in and decided this one isn't for me.

I can get behind second chance romance but not when the first time around ended because of one person cheating on the other. I don't want them to have a HEA.

However, after reading a longer one star review that told me what happened to end that relationship, I was curious to read that particular scene. I thought it will be a flashback in a prologue kind of beginning or a detailed description from at least one of the characters' POV. Instead, it was a sentence in chapter 8, I think. I couldn't go further than chapter 11.

Maybe if I were a different person myself, one who could somehow forgive a cheater or someone who thinks a relationship can go on after infidelity, I'd have an open mind about this. But I'm not, I'm an absolute hater of cheating and antisupporter of people who remain together after one cheats on the other. This book was just ridiculous and I can say that about the whole book having read only one fifth of it. With how many chapters there were, you'd think it will go slower, there will be hate and groveling, etc. Instead, they see each other after fourteen years in the first chapter, go out in the third/fourth, in the ninth or tenth there's a scene I would think happens in a cliche teen flick, and the whole time, everyone acts as if the cheater never did anything wrong.

It seems many people know that Rhett was unfaithful and everyone knows he playboyed it hard (I made it into a verb). He himself is brave to say "I fucked many women, Mags, but only made love to you". The gall of him to use those words in a conversation about his infidelity and Maggie telling him how hurt she is and reluctant to give it another try. But maybe he realizes what every reader of this book does - Maggie may very well have split personalities.

[a long speech about hurting and never wanting to be with him again]...“It’s been so long. I don’t want to go back there. I don’t want to hurt like that again.”

He reached across the table, holding my hand. “Please,” he breathed.

And that word, his touch, was my undoing. I looked into his hazel eyes, unable to look away. “Okay.”

Yeah, okay, I suddenly feel 180 degrees different, Rhett. What was I mad about again? Whatevs, it's probably nothin' - I imagine this is what Mags thought to herself in that moment.

So, the heroine did that, the hero is barely sorry for what he did then and he obviously loved Maggie very much because "a week ago he would have shown a good time to any girl but now, only Mags". I mean, if that doesn't say he's been pining for you for over a decade and will never cheat again, maybe him pushing you to move quicker with him will. Why are you walking away from him after a dance, Magnolia? He's telling you you're his future so... Copy and paste 'a week ago he would have shown a good time to any girl'. Marry him, Magnolia, quick.

Worst even, her best friend seems to be rooting for Rhett, phoning him from Maggie's mobile and squealing when they made a plan to go on a date. It has been fourteen years but I have a feeling dear Camryn would wave a hand at his cheating after a couple of months and cheer for her bestie to give him another chance. And Rhett's friend figures out he has it bad for Maggie because Rhett said no thanks to one woman who asked him for a dance and *wink* *wink*. What else would say he's madly in love than choosing not to sleep with A woman?!

I gave this book a chance when I knew I shouldn't have so the joke's on me. I won't even try to figure out whether it was a Ross and Rachel "we were on a break" type of situation because I know it wasn't. You don't propose marriage to the person you say you love and then go fuck someone else because you're heartbroken she said no (mind you, she just finished high school and he was basically just trying to hang onto her because he had no direction in life, as if he couldn't follow her without putting a ring on her finger). I will never give this book a second chance and I don't know what Kelsie Hoss thought and felt when she wrote it but I'm sure our opinions on these things are capital D different.

Holy hotness! I received a advance copy of this book and I was so excited to read it. It hit my email at 2pm and by 12:30 am I had finished the book! It was such a quick and oh so good read.

Reading Rhett changing his ways to be the man that Mags needed/wanted was so heartwarming. They had a history and he was determined to not let it repeat itself. He was a charmer, and you could feel the love he had always had for Maggie.

Maggie had her reservations with the one who broke her heart but in the end she got the happily ever after that she deserved.

Another fantastic read by Kelsie Hoss! I couldn't put it down!

Both mcs are pretty annoying, I kept chanting “go to therapy” throughout most of the book. Still, some parts were quite sweet. But the whole bs about twin flames? I’m surprised I didn’t dnf the book the first time it was mentioned..

Ive never felt compelled to write a bad review ever. Even the only other series I DNFed i never wrote a review. Almost DNFed this 2/3 through and I should have cause it continued to go down.

I thought the last one was bad because it was boring and I just didn't care about the characters.
But this one was so so so much worse.
I don't know who was more annoying...the FMC or the MMC

1. He says he's changed but can't wait more than a couple weeks (she's still scared and has abandonment issues) without getting mad at her.
2. My lord the number of people wanting them to get back together and guilting her is obscene. "Oh hes changed" but he tells 'jokes' that are so cringe it's painful and can't have a single interaction with a child (sadly many opportunities) without saying shit or fuck.
3. In one breath he says she's end game and he'll do whatever it takes and he's been holding out for her all along (while sleeping his way through the whole town) and in the next breath he tells his BFF it's too soon to talk marriage and isn't 100 that he wants a family with her
4. She has literally no backbone. She takes him back nearly immediately and is apologizing to him half the time. She stands up for herself exactly 1 time when he's yelling at her, making VALID points and then 2 seconds later is apologizing.
5. She has a best girl friend who at one point treats her like absolute GARBAGE and it's somehow HER fault for not talking to her or initiating an apology?
6. Her boyfriend tracked down her mother who ABONDONED HER AND HER FATHER and planned a meet up so SHE can work on healing or moving forward or something? At one point she actually says it's partly her fault for staying mad at her mom...like bro, she was a grown ass adult and you were a kid! Ugh as a mother I think that annoyed me the most. And then they all start hanging out again and the father suddenly forgives the woman who left him and there are 'sparks'!? 🤮

It takes so much for me to dnf a book or a series. Please just don't waste your time.

This was a cute book, but I just couldn’t get on board. My first issue was the reason they split up. However H’s have come back from worse and won me over. The issue was everyone was acting like she was crazy for not jumping right back into his arms. I almost felt like she was a victim of gaslighting during most of the book. Rhett was starting to win me over until he called her mom and told her that she needed to forgive her mom and best friend (both of whom treated the h horribly) in order to prove some crap to him that she could be forgiving. 🤨 At that point, I was not invested any longer. I skimmed through the last 20% of the book.

Rhett’s book was everything and more. I love him. I was so happy we finally got to really know him and see what an amazing guy he is. He was really portrayed as a cowboy playboy in both Tyler and Gage’s books, but throughout his own we got to see that couldn’t be further from the truth. He is legit everything you could want in a man. He owned up to all of his mistakes and fought to put Maggie first and prove he was worth it. What girl wouldn’t want their guy to do that? Him and Maggie were the perfect balance to each other. I was able to relate to Maggie a lot and loved her character. I’m seriously considering going to Texas to find a man like this.

Such a wonderful book, absolutely loved it! All of the Hello series books are amazing, all characters so well written, lots of humour, the romance is swoon worthy, the right amount of spice.
Although some of the reviewers haven't liked this book due to cheating....well, all is not as it seems dear readers, so you should read the whole book before judging it!

I was curious about how Rhett's Happily Ever After would come to pass, especially considering the constant mention of his playboy ways in the previous books.

The plot made sense, although Magnolia (and her dad) irritated me a couple of times. I'm not saying she was wrong about her feelings; it just seemed to take her a bit too long for some self-reflection.

So I JUST finished Hello Heartbreaker. It was a solid 4 ⭐️ for me.

Things I loved:
Real fat girl rep ✨️she's a size 24!✨️
Rhett, the bronc riding hottie
The second chance of it all
Magnolia's belief in herself
The small town vibes

Don't read the rest of the review if you plan to read this book ●●●●○○○●●●●●●○○○○○ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ seriously, spoilers ahead.

I was on board for all of it. Magnolia's fear of being hurt again. All that led to her pushing and pulling away from Rhett quite a bit.

Yes, the woman had issues. The baggage with her mom and her codependency with her best friend. But the author decided to throw in a FORGIVENESS spree at the end. Y'all know I don't like that.

Her mom abandons her? Then, 15 years later, she needs to forgive her. After ONE conversation. I don't care that she had it rough after she left. SHE LEFT WITHOUT LOOKaiNG BACK. Absolutely not. Be mad forever, babes. Don't be opening the door to your heart, your home, your future, and your business. Make her WORK for it.

Cam, her BEST FRIEND, pulls the rug out from under her, and then is SUPER mean to her. Without A SINGLE THOUGHT to how her own actions could affect Magnolia. And she's a selfish bitxh, too. But... "Magnolia needs to forgive her."

HELL. NO.

After one conversation, she's inviting her mom back into her life, full stop?! After one super half assed apology, she's back to being besties with her selfish friend?

HELL. NO.

Yes, Magnolia needed to let it go. But babes, you can have a great life and NOT forgive someone. You can go to therapy and not invite someone back into your life.

If my best friend said what Cam said to me, we would be having an immediate conversation that would not be koombya. Cam was a selfish bitxh. I said what I said. And my best friend would NEVER.

Sorry. The forgiveness sprees always bring out my ✨️I hold grudges, I'll see you in hell✨️ vibes. Not my best look, but rest assured, it's authentic.

Honestly, my rant aside, I enjoyed this book a lot and look forward to the next one I'll read Kelsie Hoss. I just hope there's no forgiveness involved LOL

This book had a lot of ups and downs, pulled at your heartstrings, but also made you warm and fuzzy. I did not like that the MFC complained about the past ALOT! I understand where the MFC is coming from however it seemed redundant and to hard on the MMC.
