They thought they had escaped. But these teenaged survivors have just become prey…Ember Vinata holds her feelings tight. Often overwhelmed by the emotions of those around her, the sixteen-year-old empath and her rebel friends struggle to remain hidden in their authoritarian world. But the terror she senses in others becomes viciously real after a failed assassination attempt makes them Public Enemy Number-One.
Torn between her traumatized first love helping them and the brooding leader of the rebellion, Ember leads the rest of her companions in a frantic race to find a new sanctuary. But when their counterattack fails and key members are kidnapped, the desperate young woman fears her own growing abilities won’t be enough to prevent their deaths.
With predators snapping at her heels, can Ember turn the tables on a sinister enemy?
Bleeding Out is the gripping third book in the dystopian science fiction Tranquility Series. If you like ticking clocks, fierce battles, and gritty suspense, then you’ll love Tanya Ross’s thrilling uprising.
Picking up mere seconds from the events of book 2, Ember, Xander and Will are on the run and they find sanctuary in the most unexpected of places. Here they gather the rest of the rebels which is a risky mission in itself and hatch a plan to finally bring down Serpio. Encountering some new characters with some interesting powers, Ember soon realises she is more powerful than she ever knew. But will these new powers help here when a friend is put in danger and the team lunch a dangerous rescue mission that leads to a nail biting, adrenaline inducing, action packed finale. The trilogy comes to a satisfying end but does end on a slightly cryptic note that leads me to think (probably wishful thinking) that there may be more coming in the future. The story was fast paced chock full of suspense and action. I loved the character development and the potential of a love triangle between Ember, Xander and Will. The portrayal of Will’s mental health issues due to the torture he suffered in the second book was sensitively and brilliantly done. And I loved the introduction of new characters with some rather imaginative powers. My favourite was the one who could punch through rock and make tunnels. Or the one who could tell people what to do via manipulation. All in all a brilliant read and I look forward to seeing what the author has next.
A self-absorbed Magistrate name Serpio rules Tranquility with a theme of love and peace. Outwardly, its citizens are content but there are dire consequences for anyone who does not follow the strictly enforced rules, idolize Serpio, and think the same as everyone else. A rebel group intends to change all that. Bleeding out is book three in the series by Tanya Ross and it is a page turner. The action takes up from the previous book in which a group of rebels are hunted by Serpio for their rebellious actions and attempted assassination of him. Ember and her group of revolutionaries have extraordinary talents and powers at their disposal and race against the odds to save themselves from certain death as they try again to rid Tranquility of Serpio. In the meantime, Ember must choose between a past love and a current one and that love story is intertwined throughout the book. The storyline picks up from the last book, but the author expertly brings the reader up to speed if you have not taken the opportunity to read the previous books in the series. I had not but felt grounded in the story all the same. I enjoyed this YA book immensely and intend to go back and read the first two in the series and look forward to book four.
Wow! Tanya has certainly done it again. After the first book I couldn’t wait for the second. After the second I couldn’t wait for the third. Now, I can’t wait for the fourth and hope there are 10 more after that! Although I understand this is categorized as young adult, and I can see why they would enjoy it, I am a 69 year old man who is an avid reader of everything from Kerouac to Orwell, from Carlos Castaneda to Isaac Asimov, who also enjoys fun, action, and science fiction. Tanya has the ability to create characters so vivid and real you feel as if you know them; to the point where you fear for them, cheer for them, and can’t wait to see what happens next. In the best tradition of master storytellers, Tonya takes you from one twist to another turn to an unlikely outcome. Futuristic, gritty yet hopeful, with cool inventions and technology, it is truly a roller-coaster of a ride in the best sense of the word, and will definitely leave you wanting more. I can’t wait to read what happens next! Sure would make a nice Christmas gift😊
I enjoyed this instalment , book 3 in the series. There is much happening to our characters and even romance. Who will she finally choose? I don’t think I could. It follows the protagonists as they develop in character and powers. To a brilliant final scene—no spoilers. But book 4 is where I need to go now, I need the answers to many unresolved questions. Well done !
This book is fast paced and filled with fascinating characters with a variety of powers that add to the thrilling story. Ember is a dynamic, multidimensional main character that I rooted for throughout. The world-building is excellent. I could picture every scene. The ending is utterly cataclysmic and will have you flipping pages like mad. Great dystopian fantasy!
Book three in the series did not disappoint. Ember, Xander, and will find themselves thrust into another adventure. A daring feat to take down Serpio. embracing powers, daring missions, and a love decision. I loved the world building throughout, it was cleverly done. With romance weaved through. This is packed with suspense. Well written and a highly recommended read.
I really enjoyed this enthralling third book in the series. There was so much that happened to our protagonists; they all grow and find new strengths as the story progresses. I was panicking towards the end when there was so much still unresolved in Tranquility, but was relieved to learn that there is to be a book four, which I’m really looking forward to. A truly original YA story.
