Best friends fall in love, and never see it coming. Suddenly, as her 16th birthday approaches, Tori finds herself having wild thoughts about her life-long best friends. Tori wondered if her emotions would flip-flop for long. One day, she has butterflies for Wally. The next day, she has them for Will. Will and Wally are identical twins.Tori, Will, and Wally have grown up together, they were always together, and it earned them the nickname, “the threesome”. When people would see them together, they thought they were brothers and sisters. It’s funny how traumatic situations can create a bond between people. The threesome has been through traumatic situations, and many fun times together over the years. Neither of them feels they would have made it without the other two in their lives. They never hesitate to let one another know how much they mean to each other. Their relationship changes, and tragedy transforms their lives forever. He took out a small box from his pocket and got down on one knee. He opened the box and said, “I love you with all my heart, all my soul, and with all my being. I want to share the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” Tori covered her face with both hands. She was laughing while crying. Tori said, “Yes, yes. I will..."
An interesting and angsty story about Tori and the strange, sad life that can happen when a child grows up in foster care.
Tori, Will and Wally were inseparable friends beset by tragedy, and trying to work through the scars of being rejected by their birth parents (given up for adoption). While life happens and the trio go to therapy; feelings change, relationships alter course. And another tragedy strikes - spinning lives into new, uncharted waters.
And then another tragedy. Tori’s mental state degrades and Will is left with another choice to make. The one he chooses sets a fourth child’s life on its own journey. Perhaps realizing in that moment, maybe too late, that the context of our choices matter.
And what may seem like rejection could be the greatest sacrifice for love.
There are missing quotation marks that can make it hard to read and it is written more like a journal than a novel. That said, it also lends a personal quality to the story of the 'threesome' of best friends that might not have existed otherwise. Will, Wally and Tori are all so sweet, and there are definitely parts that will make you cry.
