I love horror, and I love Christmas. Some would say that the two are not mutually associated, I would tell you different.

I started writing at Christmas, back in the days of yore. I was reading The Night Before Christmas, by Clement Clarke Moore to my daughter who was too excited to sleep. But, I used my secret weapon, my boring voice she was soon catching the right amount of zzzzz's... As I tiptoed out of the room, giving Santa the space he needed to do his bit, I thought to myself, you know what? I could write something like that...

So I did...

The good Behaviour Act was written, the first story in Interesting Tymes, my very first publication.

I live in sunny Liverpool in the UK with my partner and daughters, I used to work in IT but don't anymore, and am the happier person for it. I love football, music and film... I also enjoy long walks, pretty flowers, and gratuitous violence and nudity...

When You Wish Upon A Star...

THE STINKY STUMP
Dinner and Show Series, Book 2
by D.E. McCluskey

No spoilers. 3 1/2 stars. The Stinky Stump was a folklore legend in the Amsterdam Red Light District...

As night fell in this squalid, underbelly of the city...

A chant rose from inside of one of its seediest night clubs, The Royal Curtain:

We want The Stump!
We want The Stump!

And...

At least 65 men per night paid to get into the special back room of the club...

The lights dimmed, the chanting died down as smoke and stale booze gave way to a new stench...

The room reeked of expectancy as 65 over-stimulated, drunken men waited for the main event...

Would it live up to the hype?

The announcer boomed over the PA system: Do we have any volunteers tonight?

... Someone willing to risk it all and break last year's record set by Mick Tyrell at 7 minutes, 35 seconds with The Stump?

... Kissing her mouth or her c**tch?

After a volunteer was found, and with much fanfare, the curtains opened, revealing the main attraction...

The Stinky Stump...

Standing just over 3 ft tall, she was a midget whose odor preceded her...

She stank to high heaven...

She took off her wig, and all manner of bugs fled her dirty scalp and fell on the stage...

As she disrobed, she squelched as she spread her legs like opening up a Pandora's Box of disease...

No one knew that...

Chrissy, the dwarf known as The Stinky Stump, was an exploited victim of brutal rape, degradation, and incest, forced into sexual slavery at the club since childhood...

She had no hope of escaping the hell hole that was her life at the Royal Curtain, and she wished that she had been born normal to normal parents...

This story reminded me of an extreme version of Cinderella. I won't say more than that due to spoilers. It started off so repugnant that I found it hard to read. It got a little better as the story expanded more into Chrissy's plight, but personally, I found it too extreme with very little relief.

There were crossover characters and places from book 1, which worked well in the storytelling. The filthiness of the atmosphere was thick enough to cut with a knife and somewhat over the top.

I liked Chrissy's story of overcoming Stockholm syndrome. The book probably would've earned more stars if the storyline justified the onslaught of YUCK.

Warning to some readers: This is extreme horror at its extremist. A strong stomach is needed when reading this story. Also, some women might find the content degrading.

Stink…stank…stunk…were all the words that came to mind. Yuck! Chrissy’s, our lead, introduction would literally make a sick skunk gag. I was about 2 seconds away from losing my lunch about a dozen times. She is a dwarf with extraordinarily bad hygiene, which makes her the star attraction of a nasty, sex slave predominant strip show, of sorts. Incest, rape, horrible use of the term ‘tuna water,’ and all sorts of nauseating things went on. Things that will haunt your worst nightmares. You won’t want to have sex or eat ever again. But beyond the nonstop barrage of disgusting and downright abhorrent encounters, there was a story about abuse, trauma, and empowerment. Chrissy was treated worse than anyone that I’ve ever seen and you felt so badly for her. We are given a front row ticket to her encounters from being a terribly abused sex slave to reconnecting with some long-lost family, all with a dash of black magic involved, too. It’s a very intense and stomach-churning story that even pushes the boundaries of splatterpunk. But it’s very ambitious and unique, getting the exact impact off of the reader that it strived to. The ending was bittersweet, but really drove home the entire point of the story, which I loved. Worth a read, but please do so on an empty stomach with a puke pail nearby.

This was gruesome but emotional, in parts funny but extremely gross descriptions that had me screwing up my mouth! The ending is fantastic and just what you're hoping for after reading this emotional story

If you've read any of DE's other extreme horror books, Cravings, Zola, The Special Stuff, you'll have an idea of what you're letting yourself in for, put it this way, DE puts the X in Extreme, if you feel the need to be sick, if you feel you need to purge bad shit from your body, reading these books will help (and should come with branded sick bags in my opinion!) 🤢😂 This one nearly had me tapping out after the first chapter, and I've read a LOT of sick shit! But then, this book takes an unexpected turn. I mean, I was down for being grossed out, that's why I love these kinda books, but McCluskey drew me into another direction and made me feel stuff, other than just sick! Bravo Sir, Bravo!!

It all kicks off with an intriguing but grotesque prologue that gives you a mere teaser of where this delightful story is going to take you.

Take a trip to Amsterdam with me. To The Royal Curtain. A strip club popular with stag do's and men wanting to outdo each other in whatever way possible and under the influence of a lot of alcohol. We join a group of 65 such men, all wanting a cheap thrill, to experience the added extras in the infamous back room, the nefarious legend that is The Stinky Stump! Think Sticky Vicky, Tenerife's finest showgirl 😉, but in the worst possible state and doing the worst possible things….and then times that by at least 100. Leading the way is her utter, eye-watering stench, closely followed by the Stinky Stump herself. Can Mark beat the current record for lasting the longest with her? (I feel sick all over again writing this review by the way!🤢)

Chrissy isn't just a small woman with a big stench though, there's so much more to her, she has dreams, she doesn't want to be this way, even though it's all she's ever known. But this is what she's become, because of Barry. Barry is a vile little man and they have a rather 'special' relationship. He puts up with her stink, he actually relishes in it, to stomach churning degrees, it makes him money after all.

On her days off, Chrissy lives life the best that she can, she washes the stink from her, puts on fresh clothes and goes out into the world. Only to be brought back down to earth with a stinky bump once again as her reputation precedes her. She's becoming a bit of a joke, not pulling in as many punters as Barry would like, not raking in the cash like she used to, so Barry decides they need to do more, to cater for others, like the Vampire scene that is thriving underground.

Chrissy was born from rape, and with dwarfism too, and although her mother, grandmother and aunt loved her dearly, her life was never going to be easy. She was kidnapped by her father when she was 12, and taken to Amsterdam, away from her mother, but years later, her mother has returned, (and what an entrance she makes!!). She's arrived to help, to take Chrissy away from it all, and she is willing to do whatever it takes!! But Chrissy is helpless to deny Barry anything, he's all she has ever really known, him and the abuse he gives out, making her believe that she truly does love him. So when her mother turns up out of the blue, wanting to reconnect, lots of repressed memories start to appear leaving her confused and upset. The reunion ultimately causes things to take a very nasty turn, and leaves Chrissy wanting to exact the nastiest revenge possible on her father, and Vampire Night ends up being everything everyone could ever wish for!

This book was not what I was expecting, I mean, the beginning was, the beginning was exactly what I was expecting, and so much more! I almost didnt make it past the first chapter, McCluskey sets the scene and the vibe of that back room really well, so well that you feel like youre there, and absolutely thanking fuck that youre not! It took me until just 6% in before my first gag, and 8% before my stomach flipped, I pulled The Face, and might have vomited a bit in my mouth!! 🤢

This story is as deeply sad as it is depraved. An underlying tale of an abused, lost, little girl and as the story develops, it becomes more and more tragic and emotional. It's deeper than just being grotesque, shocking and horrifying. It actually has heart. It might be a black, shriveled, shitty, stinking heart, but its heart all the same. But, don't get complacent, it continues to get extremely disgusting and brutal too! Every possible bodily fluid, in and from every possible orifice, pours through and saturates these pages. So many lumps and globules and chunks and Ugh 🤢 McCluskey should really think about investing in some sick bags for merchandise! I was left feeling sick, my stomach rolling, for days, and again as Im sat writing up this review and remembering it all over again!! DAMMIT MCCLUSKEY!!!! Why are you so good at the detailed descriptions?!?! 😂

I wasn't expecting to feel all the feelings that I felt. I was expecting to be grossed out, absolutely, but not as much as I was. I also wasn't expecting to feel sad for Chrissy, heartbroken for what her and her mother went through. Anger at the way she is treated by her father and his friends! This book went in so many directions (including all the way back to a certain kebab shop in Croydon), it certainly kept me on my toes, and eagerly anticipating what was to come next!

I think I also have a new fave extreme McCluskey!! 🖤

A strange, stinky, smelly and grotesque "little" story that was incredibly hard to digest.
When the mother went down on her daughter for 7+ minutes...well...my stomach came up and greeted my mouth.
The things that girl stuffed up her gash...I can tell you...it put me off eating most of the items in my fridge 🤮
Some of the sex acts were totally over the top between Barry,Andrew and Chrissy... I've read some gross things in my time...but these scenarios turned my guts and churned them up.
I wasn't quite sure what to make of the ending either...the whole vampire thing didn't work for me.
Not the best read from this author.
Only 3 "Tuna Juice" Stars ⭐⭐⭐ because of the smell I'm unable to shift from my nostrils.

I went into this one blind not really knowing how the story would play out. The 1st couple of chapters set the scene in prepetration for a disgusting, depraved, splattery story! But in reality this one pulls on your heart strings, something I was not expecting from a D. E. McCluskey extreme! Now don’t get me wrong it’s full of nasties, alsorts of depraved, disgusting goodness of splatterpunk!

This book right here was a bit strange to me. It had tons of graphic gore, disgusting and vile and all the other things I enjoy. I just didn’t quite enjoy as much as I do his other books. It was sad in a sense too. There is rape, blood, guts, incest, just a whole shit ton of nastiness. I just didn’t understand how someone can make so much money off a dwarf that smells so fucking disgusting, it just don’t make sense to me 🤷🏼‍♀️then there’s a mix of vampires in the end. I’m not much of a vampire type person. All in all not saying this book was terrible, it was vile as hell, it just wasn’t my cup of tea!!

I absolutely LOVED this novel. This was hands down favorite book I’ve read by Dave and that’s by a landslide. This one breaks away from his regular shock factor and gross nature for a bit, adding an entirely extra character experience with such a strong backstory.

This story follows 17 year old, Chrissy, “The Stinky Stump” or as she is latter, and formerly, known as… Christina. She is a midget working in a highly niche market as an entertainer of sorts at her fathers night club. Years of torture, neglect, and grooming have given way to a severe case of Stockholm syndrome and a girl in a serious identity crisis desperate to escape the only life she knows. But when the opportunity presents itself, you learn just how far a mothers love will go to protect the only child she ever bore.

This book had a special place in my heart for some very personal reasons. It was shocking, it was brutal, and it was at points rather funny. This story was a simmering pot of incredible visuals, and creative writing to serve the reader a truly unique experience.

I have read all of the extreme series from D. E McCluskey and I really didn't think this was going to go the way it did but I'm really happy it did. I loved the ending for Christina

Lots of vile and gag inducing sentences in this book which if McCluskey is reading this will make him smile. I swear he writes this stuff to make people wretch and feels gleeful about it in the extreme series.

It was grimly fascinating reading about a character with Stockholm syndrome who didn't even realise that's what she had and how she justified and made excuses for her abuser. The slow break down of the Christina and how the abuser justified and made his abuse normal. The dream that she had for her days off just being peaceful but actually not having any long-term plans is really sad, how the abuse and torment that she indured was just another part of everyday life for her. It was absolutely despairing. Really despicable how Christina was just another money making object and body fluid repository for her boss.

She's small. She's fierce. And she's stinky.
This story follows Chrissy who is a sex worker by circumstance. This filthy midget's backstory will have you clothes pinning your nose while ugly crying into your pillow. You'll gag, you'll be repulsed, and you'll feel things for a character like you never have before.
5 stars for characters, storyline, originality, descriptive writing, and making me get all in my feels.

Bibliophilia Templum Review
https://bibliophiliatemplum.wordpress.com/2023/11/21/the-stinky-stump/

The Stinky Stump by DE McCluskey is surprisingly both vile and moving. There is a pro move level of grotesquerie that will challenge even the strongest of steel stomachs. But the graphic nastiness serves to poignantly punctuate a deeper story that speaks to abuse in its many forms.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a forthright and fast-paced extreme horror story. But it has a powerful plot that engages your mind and emotions as well as your gag reflex. It’s an excellent read, as long as you aren’t eating. There’s even some dark humor. Really dark.

The fun part is the connection to DE McCluskey’s novella The Special Stuff. No, you don’t have to have read it first, but you will want to if you haven’t. And as with The Special Stuff, The Stinky Stump takes a real-life issue and exaggerates (one hopes it’s exaggerated) and twists it into a perverse and brutal fairy tale like story that will gross you out in every way for days to come.

This one brings the filth and debauchery right out of the gate, so brace yourself. It’s a hardcore and impactful read that extreme horror fans will love. But extreme horror fans only, please.

A Rollercoaster of emotions!

The Stinky Stump by D E McCluskey is a rollercoaster of emotions. From the very first page, be prepared for gag inducing filth, as we all have come to love from this author. The entire book is non-stop gore and raunchiness.
However. This book is also about a woman who has Stockholm syndrome. She is sympathetic to her captor and actually thinks she "loves" him. While you are busy gagging, you will also have your heart strings tugged on. It was a great read that I didn't expect. It's not really a sequel to "The Special Stuff," but it explains a lot that isn't explained in the first book. I really enjoyed it and honestly wouldn't mind another story set in this universe.
Also, I just have to throw in that McCluskey has an obsession with sticky smells. I've noticed in all of his books that the descriptions of horrid smells are always strong and present, and this book is full of stink. He is one of the only authors who has actually put words on a page and made my nose curl from smelling the awful scent being described. Excellent work!

Chrissy/Christina is a young woman who was born with dwarfism and has faced unimaginable challenges everyday since she was born. She ends up working at a very disturbing strip club run by her own father and develops stockholm syndrome as she grows up. Until one day, when someone tries to save her.

I don’t wanna say anything else that will spoil anything, but this book was amazing! I truly wasn’t expecting such a good and emotional plot/storyline. It was equal parts emotional for me as it was disgusting and I literally never wanted to put it down. I felt such a strong connection with Christina and her story really touched me and the ending was lovely 🫶🏻 Definitely recommend if you’re a splatterpunk reader!

Extreme, but an intense character narrative lies beneath.

Meet Chrissy, an exploited sex worker with achondroplasia. Abused, defiled and humiliated with horrific frequency, she remains loyal to her protector/captor Barry - the only person who could ever love her.- or is he?

This extreme splatterpunk book is most certainly not for everyone. The depictions of assault and defilement are horrific; they were so frequent I skimmed over them to get back to the main narrative - how did Chrissy end up here; why does she stay; who can liberate her; and how does she enact her revenge? If you embrace Chrissy as a sad, confused and entrapped character, there is a powerful story here.

Where do I start? 🤣 Well the prologue had me gagging, which is probably the fastest any book has got me. Honestly this is one of the most disturbing and entertaining books I've read yet. The story of Chrissy, a poor girl suffering from Stockholm syndrome and being abused for money. But there is something unique to her "show", she is disgusting, vile, and dirty. Most men can't get near her without throwing up. And her chance of freedom finally comes in a very unexpected way. If you like repulsive stories that will make you gag, all while making your heart hurt for a young girl's suffering, this is the book for you!

Challenging, Sickening, Surprising

Well Mr McCluskey you did warn us it was going to be tough. This book is in measures heartbreaking and revolting. This is the story of Chrissy as the Stinky Stump and what she has endured by the worst of humanity. It also shows the strength of a mothers love and triumph against adversity. Make no mistake, this is as extreme as you could imagine with all manner of depravity ready to test your gag reflex.
This is extreme..but with a conscience.

If you love disgusting, I do mean disgusting, vile, gag inducing content this book is for you.

I absolutely love this book. I adored Christina, stuck in an abusive relationship and doing everything they wanted was so sad and yet was very relatable, and unfortunately there will be many like myself, who can relate to that.
The ending was soooo unexpected and I actually find myself clapping with joy at it.

Awesome

So our mate McCluskey is extremely good at descriptions of disgusting stuff and once again hasn’t failed to deliver. I heaved more than once probably more than Zola and that’s saying something. Anyway this is a wonderful story, it’s sad and the ending is a happy one (makes a change)
Anyway do yourself a favour a read The Stink Stump. Get past chapter one of vomit inducing descriptions and delve into a really good story.

What a delightfully depraved read! The feelings I had for the Stinky Stump were so real, so raw. As were those for Barry, though, in a very different way. I wanted to kill him and wrap Stinky in love. The easter eggs to The Special Stuff were great and brought back parts of that book for me too. Definitely 2 must reads!
