OHKUBO Atsushi

Atsushi Ōkubo ( 大久保篤), also romanized as Atsushi Ohkubo, is a Japanese manga author and fantasy artist known for his work on the manga series Soul Eater, which has been adapted into an anime. Okubo worked as an assistant under Rando Ayamine, on the manga series Get Backers. He also created artwork for various cards for the Lord of Vermillion game.

Atsushi Ōkubo was not a model student and was more attracted to drawing than to learning. At the age of 20, after finishing studies at a manga school where he met Rando Ayamine, the author of Get Backers, he became Rando Ayamine's assistant for two years. Finally, he won a competition at Square Enix's Gangan magazine with his first manga series B.Ichi and it was published for four volumes. After the end of his last manga, he created Soul Eater, still for Square Enix's Gangan magazine, which brought him worldwide success.

This was fine, maybe 3.5 stars.
If you have made it this far you will most likely like the two volumes in this Omnibus.
The fight between Arthur and the Dragon is complete. Though things have really turned into lifting the Dragon's despair is more a thing they talk about while fighting than the fight. Now I'm wondering why if Arthur and Dragon are such important aspects of the world why they were not pillars?
Then we catch up with the abusive bully who is "Just a regular wage slave" and never does anything bad without orders from his boss. OK, whatever dude you are still an abusive shit.
Then we "hear" the fight between the other world Assault and Tamaki, but this Assault is immune to her magical uncontrolled "Sexuality" or Eros as everyone starts blabbing about. The character Assault not distracted by "Eros" easily defeats everyone. Then for some reason the bystanders start harassing Tamaki for being an evil slut. This is where I guess the author of the story is feeling the sting of people criticizing him having the 14 year old nude and other oversexulization of the female characters in this story. I gather the sudden appearance of a vocal group criticising the personification of the erotic / lust / sex is us the reader that could do with less of the sexulising underaged characters. At this point it all just feels like trying to justifying it all the "accidental" molestation of Tamaki. ugh
The fight with Joker was interesting and I like who showed up to help.
Then the fight between the Captain of Company 7 and his other world twin was fun and well done.

I guess I'm just confused about how all the fights now are about defeating despair. Company 8 and all are suddenly "aspects" of hope or light or fighting. But if they were important why are they not Pillars? Seems like there was a change in the story I missed.

Oh, well. The series will end one way or another soon enough.
