Full disclosure: I skimmed a lot of this book, either because certain sections didn't apply to me (for corporate CEOs or higher ups in businesses) or I was bored to death by the writing style. I don't want to give it a rating because of this, though there were parts that interested me quite a lot. Here are some things I want to remember:
" ...whenever I have found myself in situations that were down right awful, I worked hard to try to change them. And if I couldn't, I left the organization. Why? Simply because I have come to learn that life is too short to spend it being miserable at work."
"...defined(,) culture is the distinguishing features-the specific values, behaviours, and ways of doing things that are unique from one organization to another. ... It is also important to understand that culture connects to values, which represent what is fundamentally critical to an organization. Values guide behaviors, and decision making and, in turn, those behaviors, repeatedly reinforced through action, create culture. Culture is about expectations, what an organization values, and what it condones."
