Wow!! All I can say is wow! This book is beautiful and so well written.
This story is about Emilia and her journey to self discovery and grief. I loved all of the characters. Sage and Os are amazing. If you are looking for a coming of age story that is a easy quick read please consider reading this book. It does talk about abuse so keep that in mind but it really is a great book. I highly recommend.

This book made me have BIG feelings lol. The author does a beautiful job exploring grief, complicated relationships/unresolved issues, forgiveness, and allowing yourself to sit with your emotions. I never really take notes with books but I was adding stickies to pages and taking pictures of paragraphs. I highly recommend this book. 5 stars. Beautiful story. Can't wait for the 2nd installment!!

Such an amazing story about healing, soul searching and love.
Do check the TW list for this one, especially if you are sensitive to parental abuse, substance abuse and miscarriages.

Summary:
In this story we follow Emilia and her husband Nate. Who have been going through a 10 year rough patch in their marriage. Hitting the boiling point, Emilia makes the decision to seperate, and Nate is very much against it, but he takes a step back to allow her the space she needs. She then drops another bombshell on him, confessing she will be moving back to her hometown in Long Island, New York. So she gets in her car and drives the 10 hour trip from South Carolina to New York. Where she begins her new a journey of healing and soul searching, with the help of some new friends she makes along the way.

Thoughts:
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I truly loved thos book. It seems so mundane but at the same time, it held me captive the entire time. Emilia is such a strong woman, and she is truly an inspiration. The things that she has gone through, both in her past and present...you can't help but cry. But she perseveres each time because she is a fighter and a survivor. Now Nate, I truly wanted to dislike him in the beginning. Reading about his character from Emilia's perspective in the beginning, he came off as someone that had entirely detached from all emotional aspects in their marriage..but once I hit the chapters from his perspective, I found I was completely wrong about him. He absolutely loves Emilia. He loves her so much that he only wanted to give her everything they didn't grow up with. But with that, he never prioritized his own self and it only caused a down spiral in their relationship.

If you like the tropes:
-Second Chance Romance
-Found Family
-Resilient FMCs
-Hopelessly in love MMCs
-HEAs

Then you have to pick this up! You will not be disappointed.

If I could rate this book higher than 5 stars I would. Not only is the writing eloquently done, but the author touches on some tough topics in such an incredible way. Between dealing with generational trauma, loss, and abuse, this was an incredible read. The last chapter sold it for me with the most beautiful scene.

“Understood and forgiven.”

I’m in shambles right now, but happy shambles. This story tugged on each emotional string. Happiness, anxiety, grief, trauma, and redemption. With this book being a quick read, i cannot applaud Luna enough with how descriptive she was of characters. Nate is my favorite. I wanted so badly to hate him, but he was hard not to love. I don’t want to spoil this novel so just read it. You’ll be happy you did’

Emilia went through a lot as a child which has lead to issues in her adult life.
Meeting Nate was the best thing that happened to her they both fell in love and they shared trauma of the past and present, but they both helped each other escape what they went through. They both decided to elope and escape their home town. They lived good years but after some time things between them got cold - they became distant and they become strangers to each other - 20 years later Emilia was done with it all she decided to ask for a divorce and leave while Nate had no idea what it was he did wrong - he loved Emilia with all his might. While Emilia was heading back to her home town she got news about her fathers death. Old traumas resurfaced and things got dark for her she doesn’t seem to let things go as hard as she tries to comply with her feelings - while Nate navigates the loneliness he actually succeeds with his troubles and trauma. Will Emilia be able to do the same and will she and Nate work things out ?

This story is a bit different from what I read and it was hard for me to get into it at first but seeing as to how Nate change, but with Emilia in ming was enduring. I also sided with Emilia in her struggles with forgives so by the end of the book I was crying as to seeing what was affecting her and how it was holding her hostage that I was happy when she freed herself 🤍

I am not an avid reader. I really need books to keep me engaged. THIS BOOK did just that. I couldn’t put Unforgiven down. I was even walking and reading. I NEVER do that. Someone noticed and said “She’s walking and reading; I want to read something like that!”. I think this book can relate to anyone. We all have moments in our lives when we can’t find it in our hearts to let the past go and forgive those who have inflicted some type of trauma on us. Reading this book had a little bit of everything in it, from hate to love, from pain to pleasure, from sadness and happiness etc... and basically everything in between. I highly recommend this book. If you are looking for a book that you wish was longer, Unforgiven is the one for you! I can’t wait for Luna Morada to write more.

I came across one of Luna Morada’s TikToks and was instantly captivated by her eloquence and the elegance with which she uses words.
This led me to purchase her book, Unforgiven, and I must say it is beautifully written. From the very start, it was so engaging that it was hard to put down. It took me a little bit of time to familiarize myself with the characters, but once I did, the story flowed seamlessly.
Emilia’s journey is reflective, intense, and at times painful, yet also witty and healing. It resonates deeply with themes of love, family, friendship, and forgiveness across generations.
Domestic Violence is a very hard topic and even though some situations in the book are brutal, and may trigger some readers, it is definitely worth the read!

This story is phenomenal! It is about Emilia, who ends up leaving her husband as she’s unhappy and doesn’t love him anymore. She leaves SC and returns back to Long Island. Emilia has a lot of baggage and is still angry about it all.

Emilia is trying to find herself while working through her baggage. Her husband Nate, doesn’t want to give up on her. I definitely was routing for Nate and Emilia!

Check the tigger warnings as this has abuse (physical and verbal), miscarriages.

If this sounds unfair your alley, please give this book a chance!

I absolutely loved this book! It was so well written, the characters were deep and relatable. I related to the characters in many ways throughout the story. The ending was a perfect ending that shows that women can find happiness after miscarriages and that life isn’t all about children. I loved that the author demonstrated that life can be beautiful even if it’s not what we expected or wanted. I highly recommend this book. I’m looking forward to reading the second instalment!

Beautiful story

This is a beautiful story of family, love, and overcoming all the challenges, trauma, and loss. There were a lot of heavy topic discussed in the book. I felt that the abuse, on and off the pages, was handled with care. There was a positive representation of mental health and therapy.

What an engaging read! The journey of self discovery and healing on topics that are not often spoken about in the LatinX community and it was nice to see it represented in this book. The book was refreshing and encourage everyone to read. Can’t wait to read more from this author!

This book had me captivated with the prologue that I interpreted as a visitation dream. This moving story could be me, my relative or my neighbor. How generational trauma affects us, and how to break that link in the chain. Beautiful story.
