Losing my husband broke me, but crash-landing onto Nightmare Island might just kill me.
This isn’t just any island. It’s where the feral are sent to die. The ones with nothing left to lose. And now, I’m trapped with the most vicious pack shifters alive.
I’ve survived before—endured a forced marriage. But this? This is different. The wild shifters watch me from the shadows. Their glowing eyes track my every move. Their growls vibrate in the air.
I’m their target. A prize to be claimed.
Then he finds me. Ghost.
He says he’ll help, but nothing comes without a price. And he wants more than I’m willing to give.
Just when I think I’ve hit my limit… I start to experience my first heat.
The question isn’t if I’ll survive this place. It’s what I’ll become when the fire finally consumes me.
Author’s Note: Nightmare Island is a standalone book and part of the Exiled Sector shared world. These books contain dark themes, Omegaverse vibes, unforgiving men, and the women who defy them. It’s a paranormal romance set in the Savage and Shadowlands Sectors world.
Mila Young tackles everything with the zeal and bravado of the fairytale heroes she grew up reading about. She slays monsters, real and imaginary, like there's no tomorrow. By day she rocks a keyboard as a marketing extraordinaire. At night she battles with her mighty pen-sword, creating fairytale retellings, and sexy ever after tales.
I read these out of order and kept thinking “damn this feels like Lexi Foss’s X-Clan & Carnage Island series world”, but it turns out that it is because it’s linked to Venom Island which is L.F.’s book and part of the Exiled Sector series.
It says these can be read as standalones, and I do think this and Outcast Island could be, but the first book (Venom Island) might be confusing because she name drops MANY of the previous characters and you could feel lost.
This is Ghost and Hel’s story. It started out a smidge confusing because there wasn’t much character backstory or worldbuilding provided. It wasn’t super bad but took me a few chapters to find my groove. I was SUPER excited when it looked like we might get some OW drama, but that basically went nowhere, and I CAN NOT believe she was let off the hook 100% with what she did. 🤯
Bottom Line- Ok. Sort of insta-love, but I’m assuming it’s a mate thing. I really wanted more drama and was very dissatisfied with how the Eve situation was handled. Not to mention, (without giving spoilers) when comparing her actions when meeting Hel with the explanation we were given for her behavior at the end of the book, it is completely illogical. The only reason she would’ve done something that drastic is if she wanted Ghost, nothing else makes sense. There’s no way to spin those actions into desperation, or deserving of pity, that was evil and deserved banishment at the very least.
MF Paranormal Shifters Omegaverse Prison Island Touch Her & ☠️ OTT J/P MMC Powerful FMC Masked MMC Dystopian
Nightmare Island is in the Exiled Sector romance series. It is a standalone and the shared world books can be read in any order.
Hel is an omega with an abus1ve past who finds herself marooned on Nightmare Island - a prison colony for alphas and omegas. Moments after she arrives, she is embroiled in an island conflict between two enemy factions of alphas, both who want to tap into her power.
Ghost is a mysterious masked alpha who leads one of the factions. He feels drawn to Hel and nothing will stop him from making her his own.
This story had multiple layers. A scorching romance, secrets and betrayal, paranormal powers, and political intrigue. A fun and quick read.
Mila Young's Nightmare Island is a dark dystopian fantasy that will keep you hooked.
How can anyone not love Hel? The mouth on her, haha. The Omega is a little spitfire with quick wit and snarky banter. I love her sarcasm, but my favorite scene was when she got a little tipsy. It was such a good moment; it made me laugh and showed a completely different side to her.
The villain gets the girl. Okay, he's not really a villain. Ghost is too broken to be a good guy. His past is dark, but he isn't a bad guy either—just a little dark. Ghost handles his business as the lead alpha and is able to turn Hel into a puddle. The more I read, the more I liked him.
Set on a tropical island that serves as a prison and is home to two very different packs, where no one is safe. Yeah, this was a good one. This book is a little dark, dark-light if you will. A lot was happening within the packs, not to mention they were at war with each other, which meant plenty of action. Plus, there were specific moments that had horror movie quality that just came out of nowhere. Heck, even the plot twist was bloodcurdling and had me gasping. Once again, I didn't see it coming. Just, wow.
Ugh, it was just so freaking good. Nightmare Island had a fantastic plot, it is definitely up there on the list of my favorite Mila Young books. Even if you don't read the rest of the series, you have to read this one.
I absolutely loved this story, and I read it in two days, and it was definitely worth the wait. It had everything I love about Mila writing, zombies, ghosts, and savage chreaters with poor Hel stuck in the middle of it all. She's fiesty and has this amazing ability to influence the weather, which will help her when she least expects it. She'll meet Ghost and at first doesn't trust him, but with her sassy banter and the chemistry that's bilding up between them She'll find she need him just as mush as he need her. They've both had trouble in their lives, but when it comes to Hel Ghost is a totally different wolf but he's tough and also kind and has this cheekyness about him that i just loved, but you definitely don't want to get on his bad side. And of cause, there wouldn't be a story without the vilan who I disliked from the start. I even enjoyed the fact that Hel was from one of my favourite stories in savage sector, and I loved how I got to meet her properly this time. Its a battle to keep her safe but it was touch and go for a minute there towards the end and I wasn't quite sure how things would work out but then we get the most swoon worthy ending which made me loved these characters even more and its definitely worth reading the bonus chapters which made me laugh plus we got the see her brother Ragnar again which I'm now curious if Mila is going to wright more about these fantastic characters. If so, I can't wait.
This book was definitely a 5⭐️ read for me and I absolutely loved it from start to finish and so wish the story didn't end. It was really a great book.
It's fast-paced and straight into action from the start. This book definitely didn't disappoint, the world building was great and absolutely loved Hel and Ghost.
Hel basically escapes one nightmare to end up in another nightmare. Hel ends up crash landing on Nightmare Island, to which she has no clue where she is. The island is full of shifters that are deemed feral and have been banished to the Island.
The island is spilt between Ghost and Sten where they both have half the island each living with their different packs.

4.25 ⭐️ 2.5 🔥 Paranormal/Shifter Romance Dueling Alphas Storm Powers Spirits/Ghosts Ghost Town Prison Island Traumatized FMC Masked MMC Fated Mates Touch Her & ☠️ Dystopian/Apocalyptic World Zombies ⚠️This book contains dark themes. Please check trigger/content warnings.⚠️ This is book two of the Exiled Sector, but can be read as a complete standalone. This is about Hel, the feisty omega that we were introduced to in book one, and the one that had caused the storm that malfunctioned the plane over the Exiled Islands. She lands on Nightmare Island, where there is two dueling Alphas that have split the Island in half. This book was darker & more paranormal than the first book, Venom Island by Lexi C. Foss. Hel had a terrible family & husband, before she landed on this island filled with the worst of the shifter community. This book is only about 234 pages long, but it has so much packed into it. The MMC, an alpha called Ghost, is one of the alphas that controls his half of the island. He wears a mask, due to an injury that occurred from a fight with the other Alpha. This story is filled with feral alphas, spirits/ghosts, secrets & lies, & let’s not forget the romance & spice!! I can’t wait to read the last book in this series!
Hel and Ghost’s chemistry was immediate and consuming! After getting to know a little about Hel and what she’s been through, you kind of become protective of her. And that girl can fight for herself and I love that! Ghost was great, he realizes quickly how important Hel is to him and he fiercely protects her. The setting is great and the plot has plenty of heat, suspense and action!
Love this take on the alpha and omega dynamic on prisoner islands.
Story was engaging and you really never knew what was going to happen next, good or bad. Great villains and heroes, deception and redemption, all rolled into one.
The FMC was sassy and survived a lot to preserve to get her HEA
This one started out great but then instalove happened. I wanted more angst and ow drama. Also, Ghost couldn’t have been his real name? And why did the other woman have serious repercussions for what she did!?

Mila Young's Nightmare Island is a dark dystopian fantasy set on a tropical island that serves as a prison and is home to two very different packs, where no one is safe.
Hel has finally broken free from her cruel husband, only to crash land on a mysterious island inhabited by wild Alphas. Her emotions are so volatile they stir up storms, yet she has no control over their fierce power. Hel is captured by Ghost, the most feared Alpha on Nightmare Island. His true intentions remain hidden behind a skull mask, but just as Hel begins to see there’s more to him than just a terrifying leader, the island’s dangers close in, and she might end up becoming one more restless spirit haunting its shores.
This facintating standalone novel is loosely connected to another series by Mila Young. As I am fairly new to this writer I have not read all the other series but that in no way impacted on my enjoyment. Nightmare Island is lush and stunningly bought to life by the language used - from the towering skull-shaped waterfalls to the haunting Gravewater pool.
Hey is an a Omega with a quick wit and a sharp tongue. She is strong and brilliant, facing the trauma of her past head-on and getting on with the business of living.
Ghost, enigmatic behind his mask, is irresistibly attractive. He’s been striving to take control of the island and defeat Sten, the leader of the rival tribe. When Hel arrives, he sees it as the perfect opportunity to claim his power.
The chemistry between them is undeniable, with a tension that crackles, and the steamy scenes are nothing short of scorching. The bad boy gets the girl—though calling Ghost a villain doesn’t quite do him justice. He’s too broken to be the classic hero. His past is dark and twisted, but that doesn’t make him a bad man—just a little damaged. As the powerful Alpha leader, Ghost knows how to handle his business—and he definitely knows how to make Hel melt.
The plot twist was a clanger and so out of left field but played fabulously into the “Nightmare” themes of the story.
There are other 2 books “Venom Island” & “Outcast Island “set in the same world with slightly interconnected stories and they are also worth a read.
Eh, it was ok. First time reading this author and while I wasn't the biggest fan of their writing style it was simply ok.
I wanted to like this more, I did. I thought Hel seemed intriguing from the first book. And Ghost had all the makings of being fascinating but well... I'm just going to chalk this up to a "it's me not you" sort of disconnect.
While the plot was quite interesting especially learning the inner workings of Nightmare Island. I found the overall big picture felt off to me. Can't really explain it tbh. 🤷🏻♀️
I did love how Ghost called Hel his little flame. That was pretty cute.
Hel was pretty amusing at times. Although I'm not and never have been a fan of fmcs talking to themselves out loud so much in books she did have her moments that cracked me up. I did feel for her past and how she had been abused.
I also found myself disappointed regarding Hel's ability to control the weather and how little we learned about it. Particularly how little we got to explore it. It felt a little pointless and more like a prop by the end because of all the questions left unanswered for me. 😔
Ghost, as I said was rather intriguing. And while I liked him plenty I also felt like we barely scratched the surface with him.
I did like it. Maybe not as much as I hoped and I'm going to assume it was my own interest and preferences at play than anything to do with the plot or writing style.
Lastly.. Offering bonus scenes at the end of a book usually provokes a burst of excitement for me as a reader because I'm a sucker for additional scenes. But the fact that this book essentially ended on what sure felt like like a cliffhanger (imo) with Hel's heat having just arrived after weeks of waiting we then are offered the option to sign up for the authors newsletter to download the actual scene of her and Ghost experiencing her heat together. Ugh. Gotta admit I am not a fan of this method in this particular instance. That felt like it should have absolutely been included and not a bonus scene.
While this book is a standalone in it's own right, it is part of a interconnected shared world, and I am glad that I read Venom Island first.
I love the Exiled Sector series and Mila did not disappoint in her story within it.
I love Hel. She's an Omega who is a force to be reckoned with. She's sassy, she's feisty and I laughed quite a bit throughout this story because of her.
Along with other Omega's, she has been rescued from the Bariloche Sector and is on her way home to her brother in the Savage Sector in Romania. Her husband, Jarl, has been killed and she feels nothing towards it. She has the power to effect the weather, and her emotions get the better of her on the plane, which causes an electrical storm to suddenly appear around them. Lightning hits the plane and they are forced to use escape pods or die.
She lands on Nightmare Island.... alone!
Then we have Ghost - an Alpha! A MASKED Alpha! He comes across Hel when she is running for her life from another Alpha, Sten, into his half of the island. Sensing she is much more than just a Omega, he takes her in when she falls and hits her head. Both Alphas believe she's a means to an end, and they want to end each other.
What happens though when Hel goes into heat?
So many great quotes in this story too. My favourite being "I'm the darkness, sweetheart. And you? You're the flame. Bright, beautiful, and oh so tempting to extinguish."
4.5 stars (rounded to 5)
Tropes: shifter romance, alpha/omega, masked alpha, paranormal romance, fated mates, forced proximity, possessive MMC, feisty FMC, omegaverse, prison island, touch her and unalive, dystopia society, praise kink, banter to love, betrayal and redemption, mysterious artefact, protector
Hel is an Omega wolf rescued when she is sold to a new sector due to her abus1ve husband meeting a fitting end. Unfortunately she may have helped her plane crash in a storm on accident. She is ejected on an escape pod that lands on Nightmare Island, part of the exiled islands. The alphas and omegas on this island were exiled there due to heinous crimes they commited. No prisoners can escape due to a magic field. When Hel crash lands, unfortunately the wolf that finds her has nothing good in mind when it comes to her. He chases her until she crosses to the side of the island ruled by another alpha, as they split the island in two. Ghost rescues her and takes her back to his home to watch her. There's something about her that he can't figure out besides the weather turning nice after she passes out when before it's a storm. Unfortunately there are a couple snakes in Ghost's circle and one causes Hel to run.
Ghost goes to help her heal and finds out they are mates. This explains his sudden fascination with her. As Ghost works on helping Hel get comfortable and heal from her past abuse, she also works on showing him he doesn't need to wear a scary skeleton mask all the time due to physical damage on his face. Their relationship is not insta-love, which makes me love it as you see how Ghost may be growly and protective, but he genuinely wants Hel to trust him. He's all in from the start, but she is not, and I love that he works hard to show her he will never leave her or betray her. When we hit the spice? Then you really see how much Ghost feels for Hel. I love the twist on one of the baddies and also how all ends were tied up, even ones we didn't know were left behind.
Some tropes: >MF >Omega/alpha >shifters >physical and emotional damage to both >Fated mates >magic powers >Touch her and get your tongue ripped out
Mila has done it again! I am a massive fan of Mila's writing and she has not disappointed! This book was fast paced and held my attention from start to finish. I did not want to put it down and read it in one afternoon. There were only a few spicy scenes, but they were extremely well written! The story was written in a way that the twist towards the end came out of the blue but was not at all surprising, it made complete sense!
"You'd better run now, little flame. I'll give you a head start, and you'd better use it... Because when I catch you - and I will catch you - all bets are off"
Or FMC Hel had a horrible backstory, which we got an indication of at the beginning, but was artfully woven into the story as it progressed, drip feeding us the details of her past trauma. She was a strong character who didn't like to show her vulnerability but was written in a way so that they were evident. Ghost as a MMC was all the things we needed him to be, possessive, controlling, tortured and yet total softy when it came to his mate. I will always 100% recommend all of Milas books and this one is no different!!
"I'm the darkness, sweetheart. And you? You're the flame. Bright, beautiful, and oh so tempting to extinguish."
Tropes: Who did this to you, fated mates, shifters, banter, betrayal and redemption, omegaverse, banter to love, morally grey, mind control/posession, mysterious artefact, magic, fae
What I love about this authors writing is that she often manages to brings previous characters from a previous series into her current works. I love seeing the cameo's that pop up from time to time! In this story we have Hel who is the sister of Ragnar from the Savage Sector series. Sold to be a bride to a rival clan, she is mistreated throughout her marriage and eventually her husband decides to sell her and take a more obedient Omega. Before she is sold she is told that her husband is dead and she is put on board a plane. The plane crashes and she ends up on Nightmare Island which true to its name is about to bring Hel into her very own nightmare. The storyline to this had me immediately hooked. I wanted to read it right through but as I had Grandmother duties that had to come first. However I couldnt wait for naptime though, so I could dive back into this story of love, loss, fear and betrayal. I loved Ghost though there was one particular scene that made me cringe a little in a squeamish kind of way. The scene is where he gives Hel something after he has dealt with a man who dared put his hands on what belonged to him and just lets say its not the kind of romantic gift that women normally like to receive from the man in their life! Hel was amazing and is a fiesty, sassy female lead who really deserved a happy ending. She had to cope with so much during this story and indeed most of her life and it is a testimony to her stength of character that she didn't let it completely break her. Another winner from this author and I am looking forward to more from her
Ghost, the male wolf shifter alpha lead, is a prisoner on an island in the Exiled Sector for murder. When the alpha on the island tries to beat him down, he challenges him, ending up with control of half of Nightmare Island.
Hel, the female wolf shifter omega lead, was traded into marriage as part of a peace arrangement between two wolf clans. Her abusive husband didn’t like her ongoing attitude so he was planning to trade her for a more submissive omega, but a rebellion occurred and he was killed and she was freed.
On her way back to her brother, her latent weather powers manifested in a storm that damaged the plane and dropped her escape pod on the beach of Nightmare Island. Running from another abusive monster, she finds herself in Ghost’s care. Ghost is shocked to find she’s his fated mate but he knows he intends to claim her; he just needs to keep control of his island…
This story is dual POV, well written, and a darker, steamy, action-filled, omegaverse romance. I enjoyed Hel’s attitude and determination, especially given her historical trauma. I enjoyed Ghost’s bemused acceptance of her as his mate, and his evolving perspective on her role in his life. I enjoyed the non-romance plot, though it was a bit unsettling, if spirits are a concern for you. I enjoyed the steamy intimate scenes.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
I am a huge fan of Mila’s work & once again she did not disappoint. This book had a bit of everything in it & will take you on one he'll of an adventure.
Just as Hel thought that she was going to be reunited with her brother, she ended up falling onto Nightmare Island, which holds an abundance of deadly alphas. As an omega who is trying to hide her true self, this is a big problem.
Ghost has been trying to take control of the island & defeat Sten once & for all. With the arrival of Hel he sees that he may have a chance in succeeding. Although he still has a variety of hurdles to overcome.
A favourite quote from the book is - "I'm the darkness, sweetheart. And you? You're the flame. Bright, beautiful, and oh so tempting to extinguish." ~ Ghost
I love the character growth from both the main characters in this book. There was just enough paranormal sprinkled throughout & the storyline progressed at a good pace.
Some of the themes/tropes in this book are:
*Fated Mates *Shifter Romance *Masked Man *Kidnapping *Possessive MMC *Alpha/Omega *Touch Her & Die *Forced Marriage *Sexual Abuse *Forced Proximity *Dystopia *Physical Abuse *Emotional Abuse
Make sure to check out the other 2 books Venom Island & Outcast Island set in the same world, I know I will be!!!
I was fortunate to receive an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
Nightmare Island: A Standalone Shifter Romance (an Exiled Sector novel) by Mila Young is an exciting paranormal romance that you won't want to put down. This standalone tale is one of three set in the captivating Exiled Sector. When Hel finally finds a glimmer of safety after escaping her abusive alpha, she lands on Nightmare Island, a dangerous place teeming with violent and feral alphas. Enter Ghost, the fascinating masked alpha who saves her life more than once, leading Hel to question whether she truly wants to be rescued.
This story touches on dark themes, featuring vivid flashbacks and discussions of trauma, yet it's balanced beautifully with dynamic characters in a magical Island setting. Hel is fierce and unapologetically sassy, while Ghost embodies rugged danger, revealing a softer side thanks to Hel’s influence. The side characters inject a thrilling dose of drama and chaos that keeps the tension high. With unexpected twists, turns, and betrayals, the evolution of Hel and Ghost’s relationship is a powerful journey that will keep you engaged.
If you crave shifter romances packed with a masked alpha, a bold omega, magic, intense "touch-her-and-die" vibes, fated mates, knotting, and plenty of spice, then Nightmare Island is an absolute must-read!
This was such a fun read, I just could not put down my kindle. If you are looking for a steamy, can not put down read, I think I found the perfect read for you. Full of romance that is slightly on the dangerous side, a love that will over take you and where love is a gamble. I am telling you this was so interesting and fun plot. Mila has outdone herself on this one, it is so well put together.
Hel has not had an easy life, so when crashing on a island full of dangerous alphas, seemed par for the course. Because of course more bad stuff needs to happen to her. When she is pursued, her power jumps out to save her. But did it really, if it makes things worse? Her power is weather power, and who cannot use that. Not wanting to be used for that. Good thing she got rescued by an alpha with a ghost mask. Or maybe not.
Ghost is an exiled alpha, who just so happens to wear the mask all the time. He protects her, but is it ruse. But the way he looks at her makes her rethink her stance on alphas.
Overall this was a great dystopian world full of magic and alphas, danger all around, betrayal, and a bad ex. I would highly recommend this read.
I really liked Nightmare Island – a group of omega’s are bound for what they believe to be safety after each of them had been sold off and then rescued. Since this is dystopian, nearly all humans have perished due to a zombie infection, but most shifters survived.
On the flight, Hel – our FMC- starts reliving her nightmare of an ex (who is thankfully now dead from the rescue) and inadvertently causes the plane to crash since she has a hidden power with the weather during high emotions. She is sent alone in a pod and lands in Nightmare Island which is part of the Exiled Sector where the worst of the worst are sent.
Not knowing where she is, she tries running from an Alpha who is chasing her and ends up being saved by Ghost, our MMC who is also an alpha. Ghost is the main alpha of half of the island and does his best to take care of Hel – especially now realizing that she is his fated mate. But unbeknownst to him, there is a traitor in his midst that is trying to take him down and take his woman away from him.
Fantastic story – I cant wait to read the other books in the Exiled Sector series!
Hel has finally escaped her cruel husband only to crash land on an island full of feral Alphas. Her turbulent emotions make storms rage, but she has no control over its fury. She's taken by Nightmare Island's most feared Alpha, Ghost. His intentions are hidden behind his skull mask, but just when Hel starts to learn there's more to Ghost than just a fearsome leader, the dangers of the island close in and she may just become one more spirit to haunt it.
This is a fantastic standalone novel with a loose connection to another series by Mila Young. You don't need to have read any other books to thoroughly enjoy this one. Nightmare Island came alive in my head with all the vivid details. The giant skull waterfalls, the abandoned fae town, and Gravewater pool all against the bright flowers and lush forest of a tropical island. Hel is brilliant and strong, dealing with the trauma of what has happened to her. And Ghost, mysterious behind his mask, is hot! There's crackling tension between the two of them and the steamy scenes are sizzling.
When I saw Regnar's name I immediately realized who Hel was and what had been happening to her and oh boy, it had been a lot and none of it good. A question solved. In an exciting and dangerous turn of fate, Hel found herself facing more than one evil monster. She didn't seem to have a break even though a possibility she hadn't dreamed of had opened. Ghost, the Alpha leader covered by a scary mask, had fought fiercely to survive and conquer and had suffered changes in more than one way. Sad as his life as much as Hel's had been full of abuse and loss. I liked the strength of both their characters, the passion that emanated from them and the determination that drove them to survive. The protagonists who must overcome terrible obstacles fascinate me. The narratives are full of action, suspense, exciting and often threatening twists that made me visualize the scenes and kept me captivated reading and waiting for the exciting outcome. Eager for the next story in this series.
Nightmare Island is the next book in this shared world. This quick read is a paranormal shifter romance. It is told from the point of view of the two main characters.
Hel has had a tough life and crashing on an island full of exiled dangerous alphas is not making things easier. And when she's chased by a horrible alpha, her usual power protects her. Making things worse. She doesn't want an alpha to use her for her weather power. Good thing she's rescued by an alpha wearing a ghost mask. Or is it...?
Ghost is an exiled alpha. He wears that mask all the time. And he makes her question her view on alphas. He protects her and signs lead her to believe he might be different. Plus, there is the way he makes her lose her breath when he looks her way.
Dangerous alphas, spirits, a scary ex, and betrayal is what Ghost and Hel will face in this interesting read. This is a great F/M romance with a cool twist of magic in a dystopian world.
Hel had been forced into an arranged loveless marriage by her father to Jarl. After four years of Jarl abusing her, he decides that is feed up with her fighting back by using sarcastic remarks and was taking her to Bariloche Sector to trade her for a more submissive omega. Suddenly there were explosions and screams. Hel was told her husband was dead and were did she want to go. She said to her brother. On the plane heading to her brother, it comes out that Hel has a special gift or is it a curse? She ends up on Nightmare Island, basically a penal colony. She running for her life from a strange Alpha and Hel could tell what he wanted and she was determined not to be take and treated like her husband had. When suddenly she was saved by Ghost? Who is Ghost? Can she trust him? What about the wolves on the island? This is a quick read but so much action, ghosts, zombies and twist you will enjoy how this story pans out.
Something about a horror-romance had me reading Nightmare Island anxiously awaiting each hair-raising event with the living and otherwise… This book has all the eeriness and dystopian vibes packed into a quick read that definitely didn’t feel rushed. I liked that it didn’t quite jump into the romance right away, rather gave the FMC/MMC their backstories first. Readers will sympathize with Hel for all she’s been through, then being dropped onto the island is the cherry on top of her disastrous life. Ghost grew up hated, rejected by his family, and exiled to an island where nothing got better for him… Until Hel. On the island, all is not as it seems as the island comes alive in the night, beckoning the daring ones to play and sending fear straight to the core of the unwilling. Read if you dare and get lost as the scenes unwind and the author’s story-weaving plays tricks on your senses leaving you on edge. In this game of chess, there are no rules and the kings always win. 😈
***insert dreamy sigh here*** Ghost is the perfect example of a murdery lil cinnamon roll mmc. Everybody is absolutely terrified of him except for her… (with good reason) And he is an absolute alpha-hole to everyone but her. This story is everything I absolutely could want in an OV post apocalyptic story. This was everything that I didn’t know that I needed today. Ghost is going to be a hard MMC to top for a very long while. Very well done 💖, the beginning had me gasping, the two mcs banter had me giggling and the spice was oh so spicy…***fans self*** Oh, and kudos to the extended epilogue scenes… Please tell me we get more of Ragnar? And I need more specifically from these two characters and their side characters because I have questions but I can’t ask them because that means spoilers… And bless you Mila for putting a recipe in the book… Chefs kiss! We love an author that goes above and beyond. I cannot wait to make those muffins.
This was my first introduction into this shared world and I can definitely say I am excited to read more. Nightmare island is a standalone romance that is a part of the exiled sector series, in this book, shifters are sent to this particular island as their punishment, but there doesn't seem to be any way to actually leave this island. Hel, an omega with an abusive past is not supposed to be there, she literally falls from the sky in a plane crash on her way to stay with her brother . Its chaos for her as soon as she arrives, but this does end up leading her to Ghost. Ghost has a troubled past as well as an ongoing war with another alpha on this island that Hel soon becomes embroiled in. I thought this was a very entertaining read with fantastic world building are really great character development. I thought it was well paced and flowed well, being a standalone nothing felt rushed. I am really looking forward to reading more on this shared world!
