Formerly known as Coleen McLoughlin

Once ribbed by the press for her fashion sense and spending sprees, Coleen Rooney, neé McLoughlin, took four years to make the leap from schoolgirl to covergirl.

Having emerged into the public eye as the teenage fiancée of England footie ace Wayne Rooney, she has gone on to become a fully fledged celebrity in her own right, applauded for her style and wooed to front big-name ad campaigns.

The rise from footballer's fiancée to style icon and wealthy celeb wife was not without its hurdles, however.

She was born in 1986 in Liverpool to a hardworking Catholic family. The daughter of Tony McLoughlin, a bricklayer who ran a boxing club and his wife Colette, Coleen grew up in the city's tough Croxteth district.

She had two brothers Joe and Anthony, and an adopted sister Rosie, who was born with a genetic disorder known as Rett Syndrome, which meant she needed round the clock care.

The pretty blonde was just 12 when she first met the boy who would change the course of her life. Young love blossomed after Wayne plucked up the courage to ask her for a date, seizing the moment when he lent a hand after the chain had come off her bike.

While Wayne - who at the age of nine had signed as an apprentice with Liverpool football team Everton - concentrated on sport, Coleen was busy with her homework.

A hardworking student and deputy head of her Catholic girl's school, she gained an impressive ten GCSEs, at the same time as working Saturdays in a clothes shop where she earned £3.65 an hour. But as she embarked upon her A-levels, life began to take a very different course.

In October 2003, fresh from his England debut, her 17-year-old beau proposed to her on a garage forecourt. She accepted, leaving school later that year and going on to land a small role in the Merseyside soap Hollyoaks. Soon the pair were established in a millionaire-style mansion in nearby Formby.

Since then the Croxteth lass has forged a confident sense of style, often mixing designer creations with canny high-street purchases. She has appeared on the covers of Vogue and Marie Claire and written her magazine columns.

With lucrative modelling contracts with Asda and a mobile phone company under her belt, as well as royalties from her fitness DVD, Coleen could also afford to lavish gifts on her boyfriend. These included a Rolex watch and an Aston Martin, intended to cheer up the injured soccer star after he broke a bone in his foot before the 2006 World Cup.

Despite her new-found wealth and celebrity status, Coleen has never forgotten her roots and her humble background. "Sometimes Wayne will sit there and say: 'I can't believe it'. But you don't take it for granted. If either of us did, we'd say something."

In June 2008, she married Wayne in a lavish wedding held in the picturesque Italian Riviera’s Villa Durazzo, a 17th-century palace in the resort of Santa Margherita Ligure. Despite the torrential downpour the £5 million ceremony was the stuff of dreams, with the bride looking the picture of happiness in her Marchesa gown – rumoured to have cost £200,000 – and a huge fireworks display rounding off the reception.

She soon announced that the couple were expecting their first child. They welcomed baby son Kai Wayne in November 2009.

Sadly, in 2013, her little sister Rosie passed away, aged 14. Coleen and her family said they were "heartbroken".

Their statement added: "She was such a strong little girl and an inspiration to us all. We shall cherish forever the memories we have shared and the love she showed us each and every day of her life."

A few months after her death the footballer's wife was given a reason to smile again when her and Wayne's second son Klay Anthony was born.

Coleen is more than happy with her role as mum – and has admitted she’d love more children in the

thoroughly enjoyed this biography and Coleen's account of life in the public eye. I have always admired her and she clearly is still very grounded and down to earth. Whatever anyone thinks of the whole Wagatha Christie saga you have to hand it to her for how she discovered the truth and how she held herself throughout the whole trial.

Really interesting biography from Coleen. I hadn't read her previous book but picked this one up as it was brand new.

This is Coleen's biography in part, she already did one earlier biography so this gives little insights into her life growing up, meeting Wayne and all about their family and their careers. Obviously, the incidents with Wayne over the years are also featured in the story which again were very interesting to read from Coleen's perspective rather than mainly what we all read in the news.

The final section is the book is Coleen's story about the Wagatha case with Rebekah Vardy. It has been well publicised and I knew the result of the trail that happened but was curious to find out the story from Coleen. I think she was deceived massively and I am glad the case went as she had wanted it to. After reading the story it's quite clear who was at fault and the things Coleen and her family went through during that time must have been awful.

Very interesting read.

*audiobook* I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook! I would’ve never kept up with the ‘WAGS’ but I really enjoyed watching Coleen Rooney on I’m a celeb! She seems like such a genuinly lovely lady and has dealt up with a lot from a young age. I really enjoyed listening!

Mmm, really wanted to like Coleen as I thought she was great in the jungle. Was looking forward to her down to earth approach to reality. Whilst that did come through to some extent, I wouldn’t call her grounded! Jumping on a plane from Germany to get her hair extensions fixed, then going straight back really annoyed me! I did want to know all about the trial, so for that reason, I gave it 3 stars!

Honestly really enjoyed this! The first book I’ve genuinely devoured in so long. I thought this was going to all be about the Wagatha saga but it was so much more. I found out so much about Coleen and Wayne and their life that I didn’t know, how much the media had actually twisted events in their life for attention and the real truth behind certain events. I feel as if this was a really open narration and a tale that I really enjoyed

I enjoyed this book but it started to get really boring half way through. This book was a money trap which I fell into in regards to wanting the juicy gossip of the wagatha Christie trial.

This is a great, easy read. I'd give it 4.5 stars and would recommend it.

Coleen is very open, writing about her life, from her childhood up until the present day, covering the highs and lows.

The book also provides an insight into what it's like being in the public eye. Some of the chapters were quite shocking, e.g. reading about the way the press and football fans have treated her family.

She also writes about the Wagatha case. It was interesting to hear her side of the story, what she did, and how it impacted the lives of her and her loved ones.

Well written and easy to read, an interesting account of Coleen’s life, which although very different financially to mine, I did find relatable. I think she wrote the book to justify the Wagatha Christie court case and she did so, the impact on her was obviously considerable, as was the impact of other negative press she and Wayne have received.

I really enjoyed this book . It’s a great insight into Coleen’s life and her ríse to fame. I do feel that a lot of what is in the book was covered in the Disney+ documentary & that’s the only down side

I loved the whole Wagatha Christie story and do admire her for this, brilliant detective work! Her husband sounds a very difficult character and I'm not sure she is the best role model for standing by him again and again but that is another discussion!

An honest insight into the life of the Rooneys and what Coleen went through with this trial. It can't be easy being high profile and a working Mum with this to deal with as well..Not knowing who was betraying her first must have been horrendous. But the right outcome at the end

I decided to give this ago after really enjoying Coleen on I’m a Celeb. I’ve always loved how down to earth she has come across and this book didn’t disappoint. It was such an interesting read, hearing all about the events leading up to the ‘Wagatha’ case. It must be so hard to live your life under a microscope and she did not shy away from discussing difficult and personal topics, particularly in relation to her marriage.

I was positively surprised how much I enjoyed the official autobiography. Coleen Rooney sheds light on her private life, her teenage years, upbringing, school, meeting her husband, getting married, and being a mother.

The incidents with Wayne over the years are also featured. It was interesting to hear Coleen’s perspective. We have all formed an opinion about this, and I do understand her reasons to keep the family together.

A large proportion of the book is Coleen’s story about the Wagatha case with Rebekah Vardy. It was really interesting hearing how she went about to catch the perpetrator of leaking stories to the mainstream tabloids.

I was moved by the stories of her disabled sister. I have similar experiences with my disabled sister, and it’s clear that Coleen is devoted to her family.

I recommend the audiobook, which is narrated by Coleen herself.

This is well written, open and honest with good insight to her life. She tells her story on the court case and the crap she had to deal with from Vardy.
Enjoyed it.

As well as watching the Disney+ documentary, it was very interesting reading Coleen’s point of view behind the media headlines over the years. You can judge all you want but unless you live their life, it’s better to keep your opinion to yourself and live YOUR life as best you can.

This accidentally ended up in my Audible library. I thought I’d give it a go, so pleased I did. Coleen Rooney is an ordinary person from Liverpool and happened to fall in love with a young lad who went on to be a football superstar. I feel a certain amount of sympathy for Coleen and all that she went through with the court case and privacy breaches. Rebecca Vardy is not portrayed well; but I guess that is the point entirely.

I listened to this book on BorrowBox which was narrated by Coleen.

I had reserved this and it just so happened that it became available while she was on I’m a Celeb. I don’t think she gave much away on the show but the snippets that she did completely matched what she spoke about in the book.

Obviously I knew about the court case and have watched the documentary. The book was a real eye opener. The crap that she has put up with, from her husband, the press and the trial is actually insane. The lengths the press go to manipulate photographs, etc is shocking!

I like Coleen. I really enjoyed listening to her story. She’s a very clever and articulate woman. She came across so well in the book and I thought she did on I’m a celeb too. So unassuming and humble. She’s a better woman than me that’s for sure as I don’t think I could forgive my husband for cheating on me not once, not twice but three times, two of which when she was pregnant with his child!

By Coleen Rooney

I recently listened to Coleen Rooneys Autobiography, prompted by watching I'm a Celebrity and the Wagatha Christie chat.

I spent just under 7 hours listening to Coleen talk about how she met Wayne as a teenager, the few times he'd been arrested and the few times a newspaper article had broken out with a story about him being unfaithful. (All true!)

The family strains they had with having to move to America and then back to the UK to follow Wayne with his football career and the time someone tried to break into their home.

Yes, they are both from humble beginnings, but now they are surrounded by luxury and fame with numerous holidays around the world. Fame comes with the job!

The Rebecca Vardi case is discussed in the book, and Coleen gives her account of what happened.

I didn't overly enjoy listening to this autobiography, to be honest. I've found others way more interesting.

I really enjoyed listening to this. I watched the documentary and felt I had to read the book. I am not one for celebrities or WAGs but this did intrigue me. She hasn't had it easy being in the limelight since the age of 17, because of who she dated. Her ethics and family life are something I wasn't aware of but impressed me.

I have come out of this with a new respect for Coleen. What a warrior!

A very well written narrative of Coleen'a life, with emphasis on the importance of her family and marriage, culminating in her account of the Wagatha trial. Her account really focuses on how stressful she found the 3-year "Wagatha" period, a fact I hadn't really considered when following the story at the time.

Coleen Rooney (2025) MY ACCOUNT (AUDIOBOOK)
BorrowBox - Penguin Audio

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5 stars

BorrowBox writes, "Written in her own words, this candid account takes an intimate, behind the scenes look at the reality of a life lived on social media and under the scrutiny of the public eye, Coleen Rooney has always been true to herself.
In My Account, she tells us how her upbringing prepared her for a life in the full glare of public and media scrutiny. In fact, from an early age, she was no stranger to responsibility, having two younger brothers as well as welcoming disabled foster sister Rosie into the family. At just seventeen, she and boyfriend Wayne left their childhood homes to live together and in time they had their own young family to care for. But being married to one of the world’s most successful sportsmen has also meant that any private difficulties they faced were inevitably exposed very publicly. And that is no more true than in the now infamous tale of how a casual acquaintance of Coleen’s ended in an extraordinary deception. Here, she recounts how she first suspected someone was betraying her trust (and how devastated it left her), and then the meticulous steps she took to identify, trap and finally reveal to the world her suspect. With the consequences playing out around the world and Coleen dragged unwillingly into a devastating court case whose outcome was far from certain, only now can she candidly give us her side of the story."

Amazing. Stunning. Tenacious. Huge respect. Highly recommend this one!
