I would say this book was a 2.5. It had a good premise and I enjoyed the characters; however, the plot just did not move. The book was mostly just neighbors talking to each other about their lives with a smattering of the plot until about the last 20-40 pages of the book. Anytime a book is a struggle for me to get through it goes to two stars. The book may not have been for me or it may be the fact that I didn’t read the first five books before this one. (when I purchased it, I was told they could be read out of order) Not for me, but I am sure someone else would enjoy it as it was an easy read.
Another fun read in the " animals of all kinds are at fault" books. This is a good story line all the way through. The personalities all grow and develope with each book. There are many fun, unusual personalities, some people are nice and some are crazy goofy, others are definitely not very friendly or nice. Life in a small town on an Island definitely takes some getting used to. Especially when every time, there develops a mystery on the horizon. The women seeking companionship have formed a group which has become one of amateur detectives. The best part is they are quite successful in solving the mysteries.
I love this series, the characters are so familiar to me, I feel like I am there having lunch with the girls. The stories always move along quickly, and she never leaves loose ends, always covers all the bases. And the stories are fun but realistic too. I am always anxious waiting for the next book to come out! Thank you Kay, I can always count on you to deliver a great story.
I enjoyed this last book in the Southern Beach Series. It had the potential to be a much better story, imho. But several loose ends were tied up and series long questions answered. I DO love how the friendships between the ladies have grown so close and how Jewel has solidly become a part of the group. ❤️
This series just keeps getting better and better. I like intense mysteries, but I also like to grab a cozy once in a while to just laugh and enjoy. This is a laugh and enjoy series! I want to be part of the girl's lunch club. The characters are so much fun. There are serious subjects broached, but overall the series is a light and enjoyable series.
I've read all the books in this series and each time it feels like getting reacquainted with old friends. Having visited Amelia Island and Fernandina many times, I could relate to and visualize the settings based on the author's description.
Who knew a Dicken Christmas House tour could be so lively. Colonial houses, all dressed in Christmas . I wanted to be there. But murder in a sea of Pink Flamingos, at Tour house
